Repairs?

Hey Guys,
The front of my diamond is in pretty bad condition. Well it looks fine when you glance on it but on further inspection there are many scratches on the screen including a big one in the top right hand corner. I have noticed that there seems to be a thin glass panel over the actual screen, Is it possible to get this replaced with a panel which is scratch free?
Furthermore, my speaker is buggered. My mate read some article on the internet saying that if you smear your phone with toothpaste then it removes scratches. Unfortunately he decided to try it. The toothpaste has got into the ditch where the speaker is and it's clearly blocked up. I can just about hear the phone when I am indoors and there is no noise but when outdoors I cannot hear a thing. It was a bit too quiet for my liking before anyway. Where can I get the speaker replaced preferably with a louder speaker?
I'm new to repairing phones as I usually just buy a new one if something goes wrong but I like my diamond
Any Suggestions?
Too bad for the toothpaste there are polishing fluids for sale which seem to work, although i wouldn't try it. Seems to mee you could ask HTC if you're really interested in spare parts ?

TPU case improved my HD7's volume!

As we all know, HD7 volume is quite low compared to other phones. I recently bought a TPU case while i wait for my leather case to be delivered. I just noticed today that the sound from the speaker is now louder than before. i use to set my volume at 28 but now its 25 and still louder than my old setting (28).
I suspect that the HD7 phone originally has a lot of "sound leakage" due to thin battery cover, and the TPU cover now diffuses the "leak". Sound is now concentrated at the speaker and doesn't lose its volume due to aforementioned "leak"...
anyone noticed the same thing?
What I have found is that because the speaker is at the back of the phone ,most of the time it get covered and this reduces the volume, but if you lift the phone up like playing games the sound is louder because the speaker is exposed.
I guess that what your cover does give the speaker some space... Bad positioning of the speaker HTC there
Yeah i guess so cause i still have my hd2 and that phone has similar speaker location. It's louder than hd7 maybe due to hd2's protuding camera that leaves space between phone and the table. But i think the major factor is still the flimsier back that hd7 has that contributes most to the volume leak, tpu case aint that thick. Thanks for your feedback...

[Q] Hero earphone replacement?

My earpiece crackles and I'm wondering as to how much work it would take replace it myself. It sounds almost sounds like there is a grain of sand stuck in there. Here is a link to ebay for the earpiece :

How I fixed my back speakers

Well...ever since I bought my vivid (used from some guy on craigslist) the back speakers sounded like crap...like any sound even at the lowest volume was distorted/crackaly sounding...especialy high notes and singing...
So today, while I was waiting for a repo sync to complete for cm10 I decided to take apart my vivid and see how the speaker is connected and if its possible to replace it...
So after I took the casing off my phone I found that the speaker was easy to remove. So I took it off and turned it over to look at it with out the (mesh?) Covering or whatever you wanna call it...
As soon as I turned it over I was shocked, there were a bunch of tiny metal shaving stuck to the speaker (most speakers use magnets so that's why they were stuck...how they got inside the phone is a mystery though...) like there was enough on there to cover an 1/8 of the speaker...
So I grabbed a magnet and slid it back and forth over the speaker, this took off all the shavings since my magnet was stronger then the one in the speaker
I put my phone back together and for the first time ever, playing music out of the back speaker actually sounds decent (for a phone...)
In short...
1) Took my phone apart
2) Extracted my back speaker
3) Noticed there were metal shavings stuck to it
4) Removed metal shaving with strong magnet
5) Put phone back together
I know most people wpuldnt open up there phone...but I figured maybe someone else has a bad sounding speaker, maybe they might wanna see if this was there problem...
If anyone is interested I can make a video tutorial on what I did...

Being a pipefitter I had to the same lol. I had my phone in my carhartts everyday and when I was grinding it would attach like nothing . Welder would be the same . Your right its so much better but most people won't have metal shavings. I'm having a problem now with most kernals getting the front speaker loud enough . Have to push hard on my head to hear it . And I had thY apart aswelll .

[Q] Speaker protection

Hello,
Love my M7 phone, had three of them in the last five years or whatever. Unfortunately they have all developed the same fault, the speakers go crappy and end up sounding all "farty"!!!
It seems to be because of the work I do. I'm a machinist by trade and will all the metal and crap, the speakers being magnetic attract tiny slithers of metal through the speak grill and it eventually ruins them.
Is there any kind of protector/cover for the speaker to stop crap getting in there? Covering them will impair the sound will it not?
I have a case, but it more of a back and sides case. The front is open other than a screen protector.
I don't want to see another M7 go the same way, if it does I won't bother getting another.
Thanks.
Put the phone backwards in case while working.
