Special Note to all Developers!
To all of Devs in this forum that are working with other developer's base work of ROMs, Kernel's, Apps, themes, Mods etc...etc. Let me tell you that you will need to strictly follow Rule 12 of the forum. Failure of complying with this will lead to a perm ban of the site.
For all of you, a reminder of rule 12.
12. Using the work of others.
If you are developing something that is based on the work of another Member, you MUST first seek their permission, and you must give credit to the member whose work you used. If a dispute occurs about who developed / created a piece of work, first try to settle the matter by private message and NOT in open forum. If this fails then you may contact a moderator with clear evidence that the work was created by you.
Convincing evidence will result in copied work being removed. If there is no clear evidence you created the work then in the spirit of sharing all work will remain posted on the forums.

3. To install the ROM created, simply go into CWM and install it like any other.F.A.Q.
What is ROM Factory?
Its a tool that will allow the user to create a picture perfect .img from your boot and system partition. It will then create an update.zip from it.
What is a "Fruit Cake"?
A fruit cake is the finish product, a self contain rom, already ready for installation, already inside an update.zip.
So really what does it do?
It allows a bootloader unlocked user to create a full copy of their boot and system partition. All of it, including mods and changes done to either one of those partitions.
Can this be use for easier rom development?
Yes! Beyond just its normal capabilities! After installing the resources you can modify the script and add things to it in *sdcard* /fcm/workdir! Once you are done adding and changing things in there, press "Create ROM".

Check the changelog, CM is not supported yet. You can only make fruit cakes of Blur-based ROMS with this version of the app.

sam, awesome awesome job man, what a bloody great idea. This will not only contribute to the rom's available for photon and atrix but also every other android out there...in theory im assuming...=)
I also have a question. Once you have "created" your fruit cake, does it "bake" the custom kernel into it as well?

[KERNEL][ICS] ICS Kernels for Incredible S Android (and maybe GB)

I've seen this come up very often in my thread and many others, so here is a separate reference thread for all the ICS kernels we have so far. Also I hope users will be able to support each other here, as I will only maintain this thread to add new kernels and will not provide full time support.
What is a kernel?
It is like the brain of your device. It's the most important thing that makes it run, and is like the bridge between android and the hardware on your phone.

For ICS, file-wise you need two important things:
boot.img - contains the kernel and the ramdisk. This needs to be flashed by either recovery, fastboot, or through other methods.
bcm4329.ko - wireless module, often used for WiFi and Bluetooth. This needs to be copied to your android phone as /system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko
Each kernel is built differently, although there may be similarities between them.
As of March 2012, here are the following kernels for ICS / ICS AOSP:
Virtuous Quattro ICS AOSP Kernel
Where to get Virtuous Quattro ICS kernel?
- You can get it from Virtuous Quattro ICS for Incredible S - Link here
- Search and check in the Virtuous Quattro ICS thread - Link here
Virtuous Affinity ICS AOSP/Sense Kernel
Where to get Virtuous Affinity ICS kernel?
- You can get it from Virtuous Affinity ICS for Incredible S - Link here
- Search and check in the Virtuous Affinity (ICS, not GB) thread - Link here
CyanogenMod9 ICS AOSP Kernel (CM9)
Where to get CM9 kernel?
- You can obtain it from CM9 kangs for Incredible S
- You can get it in Ice Cold Sandwich 2.0+ for Incredible S, it is default included in the rom.
- Prebuilt on github (partial boot.img: kernel image only, does not contain ramdisk) - Link here
Tiamat Unified ICS AOSP Kernel
Where to get Tiamat ICS kernel?
- You can download a recovery zip of it from http://tiamat-dev.com/vivo (for S-OFF users)
- S-ON: Search and check in the Ice Cold Sandwich thread - Link here
x-ICS AOSP Kernel (CM + patches)
Where to get x-ICS kernel?
- Read in this thread:
revision 1: post #5
revision 3: post #10
Thanks Kaijura, very informative
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using xda premium
First full & usefull explanation about kernel ever!
Anyway, Tiamat's is my only choice for now.
Thks so much
You are very active in Incredible S Development thread to be honest,
glad to have you here =), thanks a lot ..
Added my AOSP ICS kernel, can be used with any AOSP ICS roms for IncS
S-OFF: Flash in recovery
S-ON: fastboot flash or other method. You also need to push bcm4329.ko to /system/lib/modules/ in your rom.
Would you be able to put your kernel source on Github please (or a link if you have already), it's a requirement under the GPL for it to be available.
Hey st.matt! Sorry about that one. I am new to kernel development, I completely forgot about the GPL requirements. Everything is done by local changes of what is already on the git campgrounds, I will try to get a repository up with all my changes as soon as I can.
Edit: Got the repo up!
callrecoredr is recording great with x-ICS AOSP Kernel thanks.
@kaijura: Could you pls update this thread with your awesome releases of new kernel for our devices?
Actually I'm using your 2.6.35.14-x-ICS-g753789f [email protected] x #2 -> Excellent performance & battery life!
Whoops, forgot about this thread and to update it with revision 3 kernel for mine. Thanks for reminder, thuanngotau. I checked and I think the other kernels have still been the same versions.
Last built on: March 27, 2012 (2.6.35.14 base)
Useable with Unofficial AOSP ICS and Gingerbread AOSP ROMs - Confirmed working with CyanogenMod 7.x
Changes from revision 2:
- Added SVS support, can now use apps like IncrediControl to adjust voltage
- Added InteractiveX governer
- Redid CPUFREQ values
It's been pretty stable for now, don't see things needed to be added so not updating it until necessary.
itandy made a Force AC version of my v3 kernel, you can get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686995
What changes means when connected by USB to computer you can get maximum charge.
Thanks for this, I just realised the kernel works on GB lol
Got the frequencies and UV I want
So confirmed again working on CM7.2 the incredible 1.1 rom
I am trying to run ORBOT but i get a warning that it cant start transparent proxy..apparently due to the kernel not supporting iptables... any idea which kernel would support iptables.. i am running ice cold sandwich 8.3..
thanks!
kernel with USB otg!
Hi devs,
could you guys kindly develop a stable kernel with USB otg support in it, waiting for a quite long time
please share your views/ideas whether it is possible for incredible s!
Ta!

Some of you may be aware of the recent XDA initiative Q&A/Troubleshooting [Template] Thread for ROMS / Kernels / Projects which was also featured on the Portal. With this in mind, and with the support of the forum admin, we would like to tie these two XDA specific projects together for the following reasons:
1~ XDA rule 15 indicates the logic behind the introduction of Q&A/T threads;
15. Keep posts/threads on-topic
Whilst a minor amount of off-topic posting may be overlooked, the general rule is your posts / threads must be relevant to the Forum / thread in which you are posting.
Development Forums (ones with the word development in the title) - For developers to post release threads e.g. ROMs and Kernels including modifications to Kernels, Bootloaders, ROMs, etc.
Q&A Help & Troubleshooting forums - For all question threads / posts. If there is no Q&A Help & Troubleshooting forum use the device General Forum
Full XDA rules
2~ Developers, or their chosen maintainers, are highly encouraged to create Q&A/T threads for all existing and upcoming OMNI ROM threads.
3~ The ROM thread can be kept relatively free of unnecessary, non-development related posts enabling searches to be undertaken easier and quicker.
4~ The Q&A/T thread can be linked to DevDB
5~ New users (with less than 10 posts) are able to ask rom-specific Q's in the ROM's Q&A/T thread
6~ Users are able to provide help to one another without fear of being reported for spamming a development thread.
7~ The device's Q&A sections becomes better organised. It is easier to access help if a thread is associated with a particular ROM. This eliminates new threads from being created for the same rom repeatedly.
8~ Due to the fact that a ROM thread and its corresponding Q&A/T thread have similar names, an XDA search will bring up both threads.
XDA hopes that the uptake of the Q&A/T Threads will increase, especially with the OMNIROM project, which can act as a model for other projects.

This is indeed a nice initiative. This would keep the development thread clean and users would get all the help they want without any flaming from people willing to help them out.
OmniROM
This is a great initiative. May I ask, what is the correct name. Is it OMNIROM (one word, all capital letters), OMNI ROM (two words, all capitals) or OmniROM (one word, mixed case). The first two versions appear in your first post. The third is in the forum folder.
Cheers

How to run ArchiDroid_FstrimAll.sh on ArchiDroid on OmniROM
I can't post on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354859 yet, so I'm posting here.
How do I run ArchiDroid_FstrimAll.sh on ArchiDroid V2.3.3 (running OmniROM).
I get a Permission Denied error as per screenshot attached. Any help (even a link to the proper forum to post this) would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
The Dev of this ROM is preparing a Q&A/T thread for his ROM, so you can post your question there if it's ready. Once it's ready, the link to it will be posted here. More we cannot do for you at the moment, only patience can.
For the record: This is NOT a Q&A thread. This is a template for Q&A threads.
In the future post your question HERE, e.g. Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting thread, to receive assistance regarding your inquire.
kindest regards, Kuzibri

A huge help and get addition would to add the modems of the 910F and 910G
Any idea if FireKat works with N910FXXU1ANK4 ? I saw in a early post someone suggested that FireKat should be posted here.
One more thing: Can someone recommend a rom that is just a rooted deodex?

Firekat is not listed as compatible with the N910F, if you can get confirmation that it does indeed work then I'll gladly add it.
As for a deodexed stock rom you could grab this and maybe use this guide

WARNING
We are rolling out PA 5.0 Alpha 2 builds to the public right now, but first off, a big warning. As of right now, addon.d backup functions are not included in the build. This means you are required to manually flash GApps, SuperSU and all your other extras after flashing the Alpha 2 ZIP. Seriously, you have been warned - do not reboot without re-flashing the GApps package you use. (Unless you have backups.)
A large and fairly important part of the changes consists of Theme Engine improvements, but we are not skipping out on in-house changes. These builds feature the re-introduction of App Ops. Initially made available back in Android 4.3 as a hidden away feature that was later removed and left fairly untouched in AOSP, it has been revived for Android 5.0 and should make your permission restrictioning much easier to do. You can now also reorder your Quick Settings tiles. The layout for them is still the same - two expanded tiles at the top row and a slew of smaller tiles below that, but dragging tiles around allows you to pick their ordering manually instead of being restricted to the AOSP way.
Experiment with tile ordering and protect yourself against all the applications wanting to access all the things.
- Quick Settings are now reorder-friendly
- App Ops re-introduced in the Settings app
- CM TE updates included
[04/02]
- Update the baseline to AOSP Lollipop 5.0.2
- Improvements to Heads Up, such as an option to disable heads up interruptions completely
- Add Quick Unlock
- Extend the power menu
- Animate the volume panel in a more material manner
- Make it possible to skip songs using volume buttons when the device is locked
- Add CM12 Theme Engine
- Fix various small annoyances from AOSP
Seriously?
@ vlaaaad
woooooooooow, finally i will be the first to try it, go ahead
Yes. I'll post some screenshots in a few minutes. Now many features are missed. Right now Rom looks like stock AOSP cause it's their first release

I think yes. Do a nandroid backup and check
We have an Official thread for it already? Why is this even needed?
I don't think you can make a thread like this...
We only have unofficial here
But it's not a problem to delete if I've to
Great timing, I was looking to upgrade to lollipop (from aospa kitkat)!
This thread is not needed at all. We have an Official Thread in the Original Development section and is heavily assisted by a PA Developer. Maybe searching next time would give you the answers you needed..
I found this tread but it doesn't update here I see only PA v 3

Which thread is the one for the latest Paranoid Android? The one OP linked to has been closed and also it has an old title of 4.4/4.5.
Until these issues are resolved I think OP's thread here is valid.

Oh really? Have you looked at the date my reply was posted? You have just brought this thread up which was not needed at all. If you need more PA assistance redirect yourself to their Google+ Community.
Hello keep up the good work.
