I wanted a basic ROM that was really quick as I only need my phone to Make Calls, Email, Calendar now and then, take a photo or two and listen to music when I am on the plane.

Q&A
Q: What build version of CM9 is insanity ii cm based off?
A: Each insanity iii cm release is built off the latest source at the time of release.
Q: nitrality wont download the apks I want or they are zero bytes in size.
A: Delete the nitrality folder under /sdcard/insanity/ and refresh
Q: Calendar wont sync
A: Install gapps, then calender, calendar provider and google calendar sync from nitrality
Q: Do I have to wipe between versions
A: This ROM installs without wiping your data, if you want to wipe, place a file or folder called "wipe" inside the /sdcard/insanity/ folder.
Q: I have no external sdcard
A: look at /mnt/extSdCard/
Q: How do I change DPI in insanity. ( Screen Resolution )
A: Open apps drawer and run nitrality, select UI Tweaks and then Display Resolution. (Default for this rom is 182. Standard Samsung DPI is 240)
Q: Where can I get the Google Apps zip file?
A: Post 2 of this thread has the link
Q: After flashing I get a boot loop
A: First try flashing the rom a second time, this might fix it, if not, wipe dalvik cache and cache and then reflash the rom twice again NOT rebooting in between flashes
A2: If you cannot get the phone to boot at all then try the following:
Use odin to flash any cf root kernel.. Uncheck 'auto reboot' first
Once odin finishes pull the battery, put it back in.
using the 3 button press, get into recovery.
Wipe 'System' from mounts and storage, also wipe dalvik cache
Reflash latest rom.
Reboot.
Q: I cannot get KIES to work
A: This is an Android based Rom so Samsung specific apps will NOT work.

Yeah! The names and well known roms just keep rolling in. This is so cool. Welcome to the party.

3 questions nitr8:
Do you own the SGS3?
What do you think?
If you don't own it, who is testing for you?

Hey Wayne, just a request...when u were on the i9000, u had ROMS which were Samsung-Based, then later u followed the CM route...
Those Stock based Stripped Roms were LEGENDARY, like insanity 7.2 Froyo ! Super fast n rock stable ! On the other hand, CM being great & the fastest ,somehow just never utilizes the full Gaming and Video Related Potential of the phone due to closed source stuff,etc.....
So a request, if its possible for u, make an alternate Insanity Stock-based ROM for the i9300.....maybe u can update it like once a month or something..
Again, no demands, just a request....:fingers-crossed:

DISCLAIMER: You know the drill, I am not responsible if loading this rom makes your Tab melt, explode, disintegrate, or cause harm to anyone near it. (I am fairly certain none of that will happen though )
Change log in second post.
Welcome to The Overcome Experience - 10.1 Edition . For those of you that don’t know me, let me introduce myself. I am AlterBridge86, the creator of The Overcome Experience. I started developing a ROM on the OG Galaxy Tab (P1000) about 9 months ago and have moved on to having my own brand of ROM’s, Kernels, and Recoverys. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P7510) is the second device now to get a “Overcome Series” ROM, however it will most definitely not be the last.
My mission is simple. I aim to vastly improve the stock user experience on Samsung devices. I think that Samsung makes fantastic hardware, however fails to bring the same level of software quality to their devices. This is where I step in. I take the base rom, as provided by Samsung, and perform further optimization and modification to it. My mods aim not to completely customize the user interface, but rather add some very useful key functionality while retaining the “stock android” look.

Overcome CWM Recovery 4.1.1.5
Extended Power Menu (Reboot, Recovery, Download)
App_process and system_server pre-compiled binaries from Android 3.2 included (improved smoothness/responsiveness)
KERNEL FEATURES
Coming soon with proper source release!
About Overcome CWM Recovery
At its core, Overcome CWM Recovery v4.1.1.5 is the traditional ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.1.5. However, I have heavily modified the interface layout as well as added some very helpful functionality. You will notice this as soon as you enter recovery. I urge you to peruse the recovery and check out the options available to you. You will get to use some of these options during the install following our thorough guide.
Install Instructions
If you have some form of CWM on your device already, simply download the ROM, and install zip through CWM. Be sure to wipe data to ensure a clean install!
If you do NOT have CWM on your device already or you want to start completely fresh, I STRONGLY urge you to read the excellent guide that we have put together to fully "restock" your system and get Overcome installed
If you already have Overcome 10.1 Series v1.0.0 installed, you can use the updater zip found in the downloads section of the website. This is a small zip that will update only the changed files, leaving all your data in tact.

Was a happy surprise this . Hope this runs as god as the rom you have done for the 7" tab and that Iam really satisfied with.
Now just hope the overclock kernel isn't so far away.
Any words on how this ROM perform with "pershoot" kernel?
Best Galaxy Tab ROM now for the tab 10.1 .
Great to have another Dev on board. I will definitely be watching this thread and trying this out.

Hey alter, is there a custom kernel in this already? I see you mention kernel features, but its blank. I wasn't sure if ti was blank because its not done yet and not implemented, or it ia implemented but you just didn't finish getting the sources together.

Wow Alter, this is brilliant - I was a fan of yours on the previous Tab !! I've since moved to the 10.1 - it is great to see more ROMs coming here !! Just got a question whether there will be a version for the 3G model (7500).

Looks like a great rom for a great device. Could you perhaps support pershoots kernel as it is already heavily optimized and I would like to use the combination of your rom with his kernel.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
I dont see why this wouldnt support it though.
found this on his site:
FAQs
Q. Why is stock kernel included and not custom?
A: The stock kernel is included because the source currently available does not work 100% on the new Touchwiz UX roms. Using the stock kernel ensures that users get the most reliable and well-performing installation. Once the new TOuchwiz UX source is released, I will begin work on an Overcome Kernel for the Galaxy Tab 10.1

So... What's going on here? Is this a legit ROM or just a ripoff of Task650's?
Aside from the UI, has anyone compared their performance?

I can't be the only person here who has been watching, waiting, and hoping for an AOSP ROM for the Vibrant. Just something that's fast, smooth, and just works. So when I saw mindstormmaster1 post this thread in General on the NoFrills AOSP ROM a couple weeks back, I was quite excited. I've been using this as my daily driver since then, but I figure the proper place to inform the Vibrant community of its existence is here in the Development section.
So, to share it with the masses, here is ngiordano's NoFrills AOSP for the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant T959:
Built from Gingerbread source with some CyanogenMod tweaks added. I used Vibrantmtd device folder from CM for the compatibilities and fixes. This ROM is very fast and stable.
Features:
- My very own kernel (details below)
- AngryGPS for fast GPS lock
- No-Frills CPU Control
- OC to 1.3
- Voodoo sound
- BLN (No app required)
- Updated Rom Manager
- File Manager
- Theme Chooser with 2 additional themes
- Additional wallpapers
- But overall simple settings and functionality
If you are coming from a 2.3 ROM:
- Enter CWM recovery
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Go to mounts and storage, format system , go back.
- Go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache.
- Go to Install zip file, select zip file, and Install
- Reboot to system
Currently on 2.1 or 2.2 samsung roms (stock or custom):
- If you don’t have CWM recovery, Download Rom Manager and install CWM recovery
- Download Odin from here if you don't have odin already and GingerBread Bootloader
- Load GBL in PDA, click on bootloader update and reset time. Nothing else.
- Once odin says pass with a green bar, pull battery.
- Enter CWM recovery, wipe data/factory reset.
- Go to mounts and storage, format system , go back.
- Go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache.
- Go to Install zip file, select zip file, select the ROM and Install
- Reboot to system.
If your internal storage reads 0 MB after install:
- Boot to recovery
- Wipe Dalvik
- Re-flash ROM
- Fix permissions

New Kernel
http://www.multiupload.com/EG07T8S6GX
Glitch kernel was giving me issues like freezes, and the inability to use the external SD card.
I compiled this with many goodies
- SD card now works
- BLN
- OC to 1.3 GHz (Unstable anyhigher. Still very responsive)
- Usable governors (SavagedZen, smartass, interactive(X), conservative, userspace, powersave, ondemand, performance)
- Voodoo sound
- CWM 4.0.1.5
- Plus many other goodies
- Also works on CM7 and MIUI. (CM7 governors do not stick after sleep. VibrantMTD CM7 issue.)

And on a personal note, I installed an FFC on my Vibrant, so I've been using this post:

and this file:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QDC947A4
for a very good, working FFC.
There are no 4-image issues, the FFC is rotated correctly, and full 720p HD recording works as it should.

built from AOSP. CM7 for fixes.
No ****ty themes.
No extra lockscreens.
No replaced icons.
No TW touches.
No additional crap.
Not AOSP"ish".
Not starting from CM7, and then themed to standard AOSP.
Not JVQ with a gingerbread launcher and "removed" apps.
Please read.
This is as stock AOSP as I have ever seen for the Vibrant - without any of the bloat BS from CM7-sourced ROMs.
This performs identically to my Nexus S 4G. Working GPS. No lag to be found. Smooth as butter. Oh, and 911 dialing works.

It's quite clearly stated in the quote that this is not pure AOSP. It is, however, as close to AOSP as you're gonna see for the Vibrant. This is not built from CM7 source like the other "AOSPish" ROMs in this section. It is built from AOSP first, and has CM7 tweaks for stability or GPS to make the ROM functional.
That said, if you can find a "more" AOSP Rom for the Vibrant than this one, I would sure love to see a link. Until then, practice those reading skills.
And if you don't like this ROM, don't download it, and don't install it. Keep waiting for that "real" 100% AOSP ROM that - as yet - does not seem to exist. I'd know - i've been looking for a simple, stock, AOSP Rom for the Vibrant since this phone was released last year.
Ok ! But Why default lockscreen is rotary ? (-> CM7 source)
AOSP lock isn't present because, CMparts.apk is absent..

Glad I was able to tip xda off to this great rom(the original post was mine). I have been using it for a while now with no problems. Flashing Bali 2.1 on Nofrills 1.0 makes the SD card work. About to flash 2.0 and Ill let you know how it works after a few days. This has to be one of the best roms out there.

Disable voodoo?
nevermind
a quick question..
as someone pointed out, GAPPS didnt install properly, it just installed market, and never asked to log in with google account and thus i guess my sync isnt working properly, i have to manually refresh gmail and cant get FB sync to work, on which i heavily depend for getting contact info, any one facing similar issues?

Howdy folks, if you have been keeping up with this thread since page one, you will have noticed that I myself have been working on a port of Jetpack 5.2
After hours of googling and following instructions using dsixda's Android Kitchen, I have cobbled together a booting, non-FCing, rather nice rom. Smooth and sexy even. But, some prerequisites before getting your flash-happy mitts on it;
- Must be on GB Bootloaders. Otherwise, expect rainbows in the dark
- This port is based off of 5.2 No-Wipe. Therefore you must wipe data/cache/dalvik on your own before flashing.
- The kernel is Bullet JVP 1.2GHz (6/24/11 revision)
- After flashing, do not reboot yet. You must apply the Wififix.zip to fix the JVS broken wifi.
- And as a personal note, I like to top off my flashing session with Juwe's RAM Optimization Script
- And 1 dose of Fix Permissions
- Reboot, I suppose let'er sit for 10 minutes, and reboot again. Enjoy the smoothess.
Cliff's notes install method (if you're not on GB bootloader)
- Flash the GB bootloader

If you have Gingerbread Bootloaders installed and you end up ODINing to stock (JFD), you will notice it changes the bootsplash to I9000. You can either reflash a GB bootloader again, or simply use the ODIN package above to do so.
- Root your phone and install cwm
- Then wipe data/cache/dalvik
- Flash Jetpack.5.2.Vibrant.test.zip
- Flash Wififix.zip
- Fix Permissions
- Reboot
- After 10 minutes, reboot again
EDIT: (Currently, I have discovered that only Youtube and Flash need a delete/reboot sequence for proper installs) It seems that the Gapps suite was not signed correctly, and thus will not update normally from the market. What you can do is open up /system/app in Root Explorer, delete the Gapps, then reboot and download them manually from the market.
Now then, I do not intend to take away kevho00's thunder with this, but I am just posting my own working port until he gets the chance to tweak this port for better out-of-the-box performance.
Though if kevho00's uploading problems persist, with his graces I wouldn't mind taking up the mantle of temporary port caretaker. I do what I can for the community I love.
And now for the part you have all been waiting for;
Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AFY67B1W
PLEASE THANK FUSKAND FOR THE PORT NOT ME! I TAKE NO CREDIT IN THIS PORT

Baaah, I get tired of waiting for a port, so I made my own. And after finally getting back after wading through xda's mid-life crisis, I find that someone spent the same 4 hours I did to get it up and working.
Well, cheers sir!

Changes in version 1.00:
Updated to latest CM9 code.
Updated to latest CM9 kernel.
Download links:
http://www.desire.giesecke.tk
Goo Manager
Sources:
GitHub
Credits:
CyanogenMod - incredible work
teamhacksung - thanks for creating the CM9 N7000 sources
First time installing Ganbarou GT-N7000 to your Galaxy Note, or coming from another ROM:
READ FAQs:*http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.p...sked_Questions
Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
DON'T flash FROM ANY SAMSUNG ICS!
If you want to have a safe kernel, you might want to flash this kernel with Odin :*http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...4&d=1337346991
Copy Ganbarou ZIP to your internal SDCard
Boot into Recovery
Flash Ganbarou zip
DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your calendar sync will not work)
Reboot
Don't restore Apps using Titanium Backup!
Upgrading from earlier Teamhacksung build or Cyanogenmod nightlies or Ganbarou nightlies (NOT Imilka's or any other build):
Copy Ganbarou ZIP to your internal SDCard
Boot into Recovery
Flash Ganbarou zip
Wipe cache partition and dalvik-cache
Reboot

Hi BeeGee_Tokyo,
Great to see your first GN rom. I still remember the times when I was learning to cook Kaiser and Topaz roms, and you were one of those that had helped me another. Looks like it's time for me to start learning to cook Android roms!
I'm going to try it out.

Please add that description to the op please..
Otherwise some people might think is S note or whatever S apps.
Apparently, a lot of people don understand that those S apps require tw framework..
Just to save the trouble when ppl start asking for those apps to be supported

Make a nandroid backup in recovery before you flash this ROM. If you want to go back to gb custom ROM just go back to recovery and restore your backup.

To be honest, this is not tablet mode at all, it has nothing to do with silly build.prop hacks. This is the first and only Android rom to feature true Hybrid mode. This rom lets you scale and project every app, every widget, even systemcomponents individually. Remember, android is modular, everything is an app: Lockscreen, navigationbar, dialogs, popups, keyboards, widgets, and your regular apps of course. Apps have the capability to switch into various designs or layouts according to the device they run on. This can result in a complete new experience as many apps will transform to the better.
Now for every element that you like chose a mode (PhoneUI, Phablet/Nexus-7UI, TabletUI) and/or a size. You are 100% independent of the system DPI which runs nicely in whatever value it has been assigned to. You do not need to boot your phone into a certain DPI. Neither will most of the changes you apply require a reboot. You will not suffer from the myriads of troubles which normally haunt you under build.prop tablet mode. Your market, phone, etc. will all work, apps won't shrink on you unless you shrink them yourself. This project will entirely transform your device, but retain the aesthetics and the feel of your phone.

FAQ & HELP - Read before asking!
Go to Settings, System, Font size, set it to NORMAL
If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and Cyanogenmods aswell (its our base) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT ...
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

Hello, thank you for porting the ROM. Before I do this, just to double confirm, IF I am currently using CM9, do I still have to do factory reset? Or straight flashing over CM9 without factory reset will do? Once again, thank you so much. =)

It's best if you do factory reset after flashing a new rom to avoid complications.
