?! - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My 2015 Fire is running Fire OS 5.6.2.0 but it when i check for a new update, it says “Fire OS 5.3.6.4 is ready to install”
Do you know any causes for this and why is it downgrading?

im not sure where it became 5.6.2.0 (the only thing i can find about that is alexa enabled fire 7)

Without evidence or explicit knowledge I'd guess:
- a significant bug was found in 5.6.0.1 prompting a rollback
- someone messed up and forgot to bump the build number

Downgrade 5th Gen Fire

Hello. I own a Fire 7 (5th generation) tablet running Fire OS 5.3.6.4. I want to install Android on it, but from what I've heard, you need to be on 5.3.1. Is there a way to downgrade and install Android without ruining the tablet? Thanks!

No. Fire Os 5.3.2.1 and up there's no known root method.
If you downgrade to 5.3.1 you will brick the fire.
