bluetooth not stable...... - Off-topic

hi all,
i am currently using a 8910i bluetooth connected to a bluetooth headset (ericson) and my builtin bluetooth laptop and i notice how unstable bluetooth is.
with my headset, i disconnect frequently, occasionally because of low battery but sometimes with full battery, it still disconnects... why???
with my laptop, for some reasons, also it connects then hangs up... what's going on???
what a pain!!!! is bluetooth techonology worth it???
cheers...thanks for your input....et

It is useful and stable now

Tilt and Bluetooth

My Tilt will connect with my Lexus installed bluetooth, then disconnect. I can't reconnect about 75% of the time. This is a deal-breaker for me.
Anybody had similar problems (or solutions)?

No problems there with a stock Tilt.
BTW, if it won't work for you what you going to give away - Lexus or Tilt?

Do you have any other bluetooth device you can try with your car? If those devices work fine, possibly something is up either with your phone or between your phone and your car. If other bluetooth devices do the same thing, something could be wrong with your car's bluetooth system.

Thanks. Another Blue Devil here. All my other phones work flawlessly with the auto. What is the AD2P "fix"? Is that something I shoul explore?
CORRECTION: "A2DP".
Really? What year?
And for the A2DP...that allows bluetooth to send stereo audio from a phone to bluetooth headphones, speaker system, etc. If your phone is having problems just connecting to it, I don't think this is the problem. You could try it, but if it was the problem, I think you would have trouble sending music from the phone to the stereo system, not just connection problems.
Also, I know it is stating the obvious, but have you tried turning bluetooth on/off on your phone, re-pairing it with your car, and trying a soft reset of both your phone and the car system (if possible)?
Bluetooth troubled
Thanks. I'll try that.

A2DP Bluetooth Audio interrupts

Hi Guys,
i have this problem for a long time and didn't find anything about it in web or in xda forums.
I have a HTC Dream + HBH-IS 800 Sony Ericsson Headset.
When i listen to music via A2DP the connection is not very stable...
the connection interrupts very often for about 2 or 3 seconds, then works for about 3 seconds.
This only happens when i am outside, not in buildings. I this the reason is because of interferences. The connection gets better when i move the G1 into a specific orientation (upper side up) and don't turn my head to the right
On my old Windows mobile phone i played around with bitpool (=ratio between quality and connection stability by constant bitrate) settings... is there a possibility to get the connection more stable, when playing around with this setting?!
How can this setting be changed on android?
Further information:
-ROM Cyanogen 4.2.5 but same problem on stock ROM
-HTC Dream has been replaced one by a new device -> same problem
-Headset was never exchanged, but worked perfectly on my old Touch Pro with WM 6.1
Thanks for your help
There is a known issue on the Bluetooth stack and is suppose to be fixed in the Elclair 2.0 fix, the temporary work around is to first pair and connect then disconnect and reconnect it again i'm having to do that several times a day when i use my RocketFish bluetooth stereo headset. Hope that helps
thanks for this workaround, will try it tomorrow and will post if it works for me too
hmm, didnt really work for me... no change after pairing disconnecting and connecting again.
i wonder why this only happens outside, not in buildings... another frequencys which interferences maybe?!
Be sure to disable wifi.
Not trying to hi-jack your thread. If you want me to open another i will. However this is a BT question as well.
my G1 is set to connect to my stereo in my car. Pioneer BT head unit. I find that i have to manually tell it to connect every time i get in the car. When i had a blackberry before it would just connect every time on its own without me doing anything once i made the initial connection.
Any ideas?
thanks.

Worked on Dell Streak A1.6
I have Dell BH200 headset as well, and I have the same exact problem its like the audio stutters but when I first connect it its more stutter than music so you can barely even understand the music until after 30secs when it starts to normal out.
ATM im runnning Stock 1.6 for G1, im going to try Cyanogenmod 6.0 tomorrow and see if anything changes.
but everyday I go back and forth with my laptop and phone since my headphones run for atleast 3-4 days.
wow, finally someone having the same problem.
and even the same description of the connection issues.
I recently bought a orange SanFran and, as the device is fairly cheap, a nokia bh-504 along with it.
The connection isnt stable even when I put it in my breast pocket.
As soon as I move my head to the right, the streaming stops. Completely.
I can easily stop the music when holding my hand in front of the right earpiece.
so i will try the disconnect / connect again "workaround", but I don't think that will help.
I paired the same headset with my gf's netbook and I could walk through the whole apartment and the signal was stable even through up to 4 walls.
so no one here knows how to tweak BT settings in android?

[Q] Problem Connecting Dell BH 200 Headset with Streak

Hi people,
Am facing a problem while connecting the Dell BH 200 Wireless headphones with My Streak, it connects fine. I can listen to music but as soon as I get calls the Bt gets disconnected and I have to manually take call using the phone...It happens every time... .
Its such a pain if you are driving and listening to songs suddenly you get a call, pullover take the call and spend five more minutes pairing it again
Am running my streak on stock Froyo Rom, Baseband is 318 and kernel version is 2.6.32.9-Dj_Steve-BFS-BFQ-OC-Vol
had this problem even before with stock kernel and baseband.
Am wondering why cause the same headphones sync beautifully with Galaxy S stock froyo and Galaxy 3 and my HTC Evo.....
Irony of the situation is this that I work for dell but no one in the Wireless or hand held department was able to give me an answer.
So my good people at XDA here I am.....
Please Help Me out!!
Peace Out!!
Sam
>>>>>EDIT<<<<<<
Finally gave up on DELL BH 200 and bought BH 503 it supports all the profiles and no pairing issues as well, not to miss the sound quality and in call quality is at par!!
I have the same problem .... any advice would be appreciated.

im just curious, why are you listening to your headphones IN the car
on the other hand, i just got a pair of Sony DR-BT101 yesterday and they paired perfectly to my phone. the only problem i can see you might have is the fact that your headset doesnt have one of the profiles that allows for calls? i can remember which one it is, either hsp or hfp but other than that i dont see why it would disconnect itself.
also, you shouldnt have to pair the headphones everytime u want to connect, the whole point of pairing is so it auto connects when the devices are on and in range. if you meant to say connect then nevermind me

I think it used to work with 1.6 ( not 100% sure )
However broken with 318, 340 and steves rom.
Edit : works perfectly though with nokiaBT headset and plantronics
Shame that dell does not work with dell .

HTC One Terrible Bluetooth range .....

Friends ...... , HTC One it seems has a terrible Bluetooth range ....... I have a Logitech BoomBox (Bluetooth spks) and a Belkin Bluetooth receiver connected to my AVR. In both the cases, when connected to my HTC One it looses audio in just couple of feets. Specially with belkin receiver. But when I tested the same with my iPhone 4, it works perfectly, till the Bluetooth's designated range of 30 feet (10 meters) ... with both Belkin and Logitech ....
so it has something to do with HTC One's Bluetooth.
People with HTC One and having any Bluetooth audio device, please test this and report if you are also facing the same issue, Or is there something that I can try to increase the range. Its pathetic, 2-3 feets at the max. I am bitterly disappointed with this ..........
Regards.
Sammy
I think that Android 4.1 had a BT flaw that was fixed in 4.2.
so this means its more of an android issue than HTC One........ any alternatives to improve this, till we have an 4.2 update
I was using bt audio yesterday and it was horrible. I did some googling, try turning off wifi before you connect to the speakers, it solved my trouble straight away. I found if the music was playing when I turned wifi back on it would still be ok. Might help?

Jiggle .... my friend, you made the day for me, how so ever strange may it seem, it did work .... ..... I switched of my wifi and then connected Bluetooth to Belkin receiver and vola!! :victory:... no drop outs and was able to use BT at full 30 feets, and then if I switch on the wifi later all is well.
Strange, if wifi is working before I connect BT, it drops and is very uneven ......... must be some bug, but anyway, solution is not as irritating as one might expect.
Thanks again Jiggle, for you input, saved me a great disappointment.

whew you had me in a panic here. (o; I'm still a little traumatized from my asus T201 wireless issues.
The Wifi/bluetooth issue is a drawback of the aluminum body design of the One. Bluetooth shares an antenna with wifi transmit. I believe wifi receive shouldn't interrupt bt though.
Then there should also be a problem if I switch on wifi after I connect BT. ,... in which case it works. It only creates a problem, if the wifi is first on and then I connect BT. ...... which is strange
Just for information. I had 3 htc, desire hd, sensation, onex and ALL had problem with bluetooth, weak signal, using a headset with the phone in my pocket already failed. I now have a note2 and this problem does not occur, being used in the same situation. So ....

My m7 (TrickDroid, elementalX 0.11 default overclocking and undervolting) is having the BT issue whenever wifi is on, regardless of whether I connect the BT device while wifi is off, and regardless of whether audio is playing when the wifi is turned back on. In other words, on my device, BT really really sucks if wifi is connected, period. Any suggestions other than not to use wifi if I want to use BT?
Update: My router (Netgear wnr2000v3) seems to use 2.4 Ghz channels. Any thoughts about whether swapping the router with a dual-band or 5 Ghz channel router would work around this issue?

I did pick up a new dual-band router and set up the phone to connect only on the 5Ghz band, and it worked! No more bluetooth issues at home. So if you run into this issue, a temporary workaround until (hopefully) HTC/Google provide a fix is to avoid the 2.4Ghz band.
Strangely enough, my Bluetooth range keeps decreasing with each software update. When I first bought this thing, I was generally impressed with how far I could walk from my BT speakers. Not as good as my evo 4g or 3d, but decent. Better than my gs3 and gn2.
Now I tend to make it about 5 feet or so with minor cut-outs while using apt-x. If I put my hand between the signal at 10ft, I can stop it completely. If I touch the upper-right of my phone with my thumb as I hold it in my right hand, I can kill the signal as well. Very much an antennagate going on here just like the iPhone 4.

Anyone got the SBH20 Bluetooth headset yet?

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/stereo-bluetooth-headset-sbh20/
Looks promising, especially for owners of the Xperia V who are afraid their flaps will eventually get loose. I was thinking of getting one (primarily in order to use it with headphones to listen to music on the go), but I'm afraid having Bluetooth activated over longer periods will accelerate battery drain. So I was wondering - is anybody using it already? And if yes, how is battery life affected when using it?
Also, does it ship with earphones? I already got the ones from my V which I don't use, and I don't need another pair honestly ...

Just got it today, it's really nice, but NFC function is really useless, it connects the headset and turns bluetooth on, but you have to use NFC fuction always on which drains the battery more then idle bluetooth. So I connected it manually and it connects automatically each time I turn headset on with all the devices it was once connected. It's good for those who use NFC a lot.

I've never used the sbh20, but i use a similar bluetooth headset by nokia and i always connect my T to the car stereo with bluetooth to listen to spotify's music..in the beginning i was scared as you by a possible battery drain, but in the end you don't have to worry...It uses 1/2% of battery for 15-20 minutes of music, not bad imho!

Somebody on this forum told about Xperia that useing bluetooth headset takes less power then listening to music through wired headphones plugged directly to the phone, not sure though.
My experience shows that NFC feature takes 1-2% more than idle bluetooth on my Sony Xperia Acro S through the night.
Thanks guys!
Btw., I just ordered it for my birthday
I think some people are misunderstanding NFC here, the music isnt streamed through NFC, It would be usless if that was the case. It uses bluetooth to stream, the initial connection to the device is created via a tap with NFC enabled. NFC only works in the proximity of a couple of MM.
My experince with bluetooth headphones is very positive, barely any battery drain directly with bluetooth headphones and liveview attached to my XperiaT.
I use a bluetooth speaker in my car and find the battery drain is significantly less than playing it through the devices inbuilt speaker.
What can you say with the quality of sound? Difference between the generic headset from out of the box came from the phone and the headset include in sbh20. Thanks

ill order one for myself. RM145 here in malaysia.. thanks for this info!
Got mine today, in sexy white, to fit my iPod earphones Now I've got several Sony chargers and earphones which I don't use ...
Anyway, the SBH20 is great, makes the phone a proper MP3 player PLUS it doubles as a headset. Very comfortable. Also: no more opening my V's flaps
I got one too. Now I don't have to lug my hefty phone in my pockets or hand to listen to music \

Hello. I am looking to buy Sony SBH20 to use with my Lumia 920 and desktop computer. Currently I am using a Jabra Street 2. I wanted to know a few things.
1. How is the mic quality when on a call? Is the background noise of wind, people around you audible when on a call from the mic itself? I had this problem with my Nokia BH-214 handsfree but not with my Jabra Street 2 so I am cautious when buying these.
2. Does the handsfree add its own Bass/Treble to songs being played? My Jabra Street 2 does it and it is annoying as I can't listen to songs in their pure form.
3. Do you have access to a Nokia Lumia 920? Can you please check if there is any problem with it? It is ok if you don't have access.
