PDA2K, extended ROM password - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

hi all,
I have a PDA2K that i'd like to edit the extended ROM of.
I've downloaded the ROM updates, but i'd like to customise the contents of ms_.nbf.
does anyone know the password?
if so, what tools do i need to get in there and edit the file?
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance !!

Hi,
I don't think i was clear enough in my original post, but can anyone at all help me with this ?
i've downloaded the lastet ROM update from club-imate:
ROM version: 1.22.00 WWE
ROM date: 10/22/04
Radio version: 1.06.00
Protocol version 1337.38
ExtROM version: 1.22.162 WWE
I'm using WM 2003 ROM Image editor, so as I can customise my EX_ROM.
i've tried this password to try and unlock my ms_.nbf 0x20040522.
But it is the incorrect one.
anyone have any ideas ?
there's a free cookie for the person that helps me gain access to my EX_ROM

The program you've mentioned is not compatible with the PDA2K (Blueangel) roms. Therefore you cannot use it to edit your extended rom. I actually don't know a program that would do it for PDA2K. Sorry...

i had a feeling that would be the case
i've been able to unlock my EX_ROM, no problem.
I can create my own cab files, but what i CAN'T do is repack the ms_.nbf file, so as i can upload it back to my device.
would you know how to do that ?

hmmm, i mustn't have been logged in when i posted the above reply

Well, keep a copy of yor extended rom in the unpacked formatd ( cabs, autorun.exe, config.txt etc ) on your computer's harddrive. Once you've edited the extended rom, it will stay that way on your handheld until the next rom update, in other words everytime you hardreset your device the new edited extended rom will be excuted. And once you upgrade your rom, you can still copy the files back to your extended rom. It is kind of complicated and not the best way to resolve the problem but unfortunately the only way for now

yes, that way would work with my device.
problem i have is, that i'm building this as an SOE for a large corporation, so I need to deploy my image to many devices, making it a real pain in the hole.
anyways, thanks for your help thus far .

Bewildering information - no clear answer

OK, been trying to figure out this ROM update hotchpotch for a while now, and while I have some better knowledge, some of it still isn't clear.
Before you say use the search, I have, but as I say, it's all so random and all over the place it's unclear.
OK, so I have an M2000. I am running as follows:
Operator Version 5.12.1.139
ROM Versn 1.12.22 WWE
ROM date 09/27/04
Radio Versn 1.04.00
Protocol Versn 1337.35
ExtROM Versn 1.12.139.WWE
BT v1.0.0 Build 2200
Now looking at what versions are available, this seems pretty old, right.
Now as I understand it, the ExtROM can be updated by unlocking it, replacing the files from the 1.31 archive, re-locking and doing a hard reset - then once it's booted it'll go through the customisation procedure like it normally does, only with the updated ExtROM (which I can customise/cook to what updates I want).
OK, so I understand that much - however...then I have a mismatch between ExtROM and Normal ROM, right?
ROM would be 1.12.22 and the ExtRom would be 1.31.XX yes? Is this a problem?
How do I go about updating the main ROM to 1.31 also? The same goes for radio and bluetooth. I know full well that my bluetooth is well out of date - but there are so many versions, most of which are unhelpfully named. One I see said 1.00.3500, which is what I hear is what I want, but what are all the others about?
Can anyone help put it into plain english for me, without saying "Use the search" or posting a link to wiki?
Thanks.
If you have a look at this thread, it gives you a process you can follow. It is for an older set of updates. But if you have a look on the FTP site and pick full update files with the 1.31 CE rom and 1.06.02 Radio rom, you should be able to follow it through.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=16251&highlight=
OK, i had a look through, and it sorta makes more sense, but the problem is the updates are so different I don't get it :S
For example, the file names on the ftp are so cryptic it doesn't help.
I have downloaded 1.33.10WWE.rar which is apparently a CE ROM from the SX66....
...however, I am aware the SX66 doesn't have a camera - does this matter?
Furthermore, in the bat file, there was a reference to an ms_.nbf file - I cant find out what this is. Do I need it?
I'm assuming nk_.nbf is the ROM itself.
Also, with regards to the radio ROM I have downloaded Radio 1.06.02 Edited for German Tmobile MDAIII.rar
What does editing it for German T-Mobile do? Does this have an effect?
Basically I could probably figure it out if everything had standard names. So far I don't think I've seen any naming conventions for the files, so I'm at a loss as to what I need.
OK, just found a useful page here:
http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=154
that managed to explain it a bit better.
So, it seems that the ms_.nbf is essentially the extrom, yes?
So how can I take the ExtROM Orange_UK_SPVM2000_Ext_ROM_131124.zip
and use it as an ms_.nbf?
or have I got it all wrong?
I have just got that new O2 one that was released recently, but I don't want O2 stuff plastered all over my phone...
OK, as a starting point I just tried to update the radio rom to 1.06.02.
After getting a little stuck I managed it ok, and it seems to be working fine....
Now all I need help with is figuring out how to get the other 2 bits sorted. i'm not too worried about the nk file (although it would appear it needs a password, which I'm unsure where to obtain)
but this ms file has thrown me way off course. Would I need to say, use the O2 one, and then re-do my ExtROM folder with the Orange stuff?
Assuming your device has the 1.31 rom on it, and Radio 1.06.02 (as you say you have installed. Then it's pretty easy to update the ExtRom to the latest Orange one.
Install the Extended Rom Unlocker initially through normal methods, copy the cab and run - ftp://xda:[email protected]_1_22/Tools//xda-developers_Unlocker.CAB. Then under Programs/Extended Rom Tools, click uhide and unlock and do a soft reset.
Download the M2000 ExtRom from ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Extended_Roms/Orange_UK_SPVM2000_Ext_ROM_131124.zip
Go to the root of your device and into the 'Extended Rom' folder, delete the contents and replace with the contents of the zip file. Then Lock and Hide your extended rom and perform a hard reset.
If you haven't got 1.31 CE Rom, then you may wish to follow this method:-

Perfect, brilliant. Will give it a try as soon as I have time!

Hi.
Sorry but I simply don't believe You spent 5 hours at wiki and not clicked this:
ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/PDA2k_WWE_14000_176_11200.exe
to get an update.
In case, your device is not exactly i-mate pda2k (but another Blueangel) you'll need to replace baupgradeut.exe supplied with above archive with the one I give you (to bypass country/device id check)
Good luck
oops.. delete
thank you very much, i tryed a very similar link to imate firmware on the BA begginers page but it dosnt work at all, i spent most of the time trying to get registerd properly at imate only to be told to go away as i dont have a imate branded device. thanks again i'll give it a go.

i have downloaded the file you added to replace the the one in the imate rom, will replace then add it to XDA, where is the dummys guide to installing this particular ROM? i'll look again on the wiki page.
There should be some kind of 'step by step' in BA's wiki.
But in truth, the process is very simple.
Just download file from i-mate. Run it. (It will extract files to directory specified). Replace baupgradeut.exe with the one I gave you and run it (baupgradeut.exe).
On screen step by step displays and tells how to put device in bootloader mode and place in cradle etc.etc. simple
have fun

T-Mobile MDA Production/Shipping ROM Download Link (USA)

Many users have been requesting the ROM for the production MDA's. I tried to upload it to the XDA-Developers FTP site but I could not upload it to the T-Mobile ROM directory so if a moderator can download this from the link I provided and move it to the FTP server for long term access.
Specs are as follows:
ROM Version 1.8.10.2 WWE
ROM Date 12/10/05
Radio Version 01.09.10
Protocol Version 4.0.13.20
This does not include the Extended ROM as that is already provided in the link below as this is where this request for the full rom was initiated.
http://d01.megashares.com/?d01=efbcdfc90bfae88ed9ac9ec8fcda5cc6
Scroll to the bottom of the page once you go to the megashares link and you will see the Download Now link.
If you need the Extended ROM follow this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=41348
Question - you can't just flash back the extended ROM, right?
Yes but it is not the same procedure as backing up or writing a new ROM as you need a utility which I mention below. What you need to do is first "Unlock/Unhide" the hidden Extended ROM partition on your MDA. Once you do this you can see the extended ROM files which are posted in the link above. (There is a utility called Unlock Ext Rom Wizard.cab) on the XDA FTP server. You copy this to your MDA and click on it and it should unlock the parition/folder. After running it I would do a soft reset.
You can then use ActiveSync's Remote File Explorer Utility to move the files around as you will see the new partition when you select change folder.
Basically you copy your original extended ROM files to a safe location for backup and then delete all the files in the extended ROM directory. Copy the Extended ROM files that you downloaded into the Extended ROM directory and once you do a hard reset it will automatically install the new files when it boots up.
Ah, ok... thanks - I don't see the unlock tool for the Extended ROM though....
Nevermind... found it.
any changes, improvements or modifications worthy of mentioning in this ROM?
thanks,
How do you change the boot screen. I only see the ability to restore the radio and OS...
Extended rom is read only.. Please tell me that I am not going to have to reflash with an old rom to modify the extrom...

My Extended Rom is writable, but is still hidden. I think it may be due to the fact that I used aWizard 1.3b2 (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386) to remove the CID lock from my phone and change the splash screen. I then also patched my radio to 01.13.10.
Can the original poster explain how to restore the T-Mobile ROM? The utility that is in the folder did the CID unlock on my phone and all that successfully, but when I do option "w" (write OS ROM to device), it doesn't "find" the T-Mo ROM right there in the folder. I don't get it. =(

When disabling Flight Mode, the original radio took about 30 to 45 seconds to get a signal. The new radio takes closer to 2 minutes. However, the new radio gets 3 bars of signal in places the old radio only got 1. I consider a reasonable tradeoff, as I don't use Flight Mode very often.
for updating the os rom and radio rom, it says please type the number, what number do i type?

I had that initial problem myself. I had to copy it to my C:\Flash since it didn't seem to work correctly off my g: drive under a few folders deep. I looked at the .cmd (batch) file at what it does is do a dir /s (directory listing including looking under subfolders) for *.nba files looking for radio or os in the filename. If you do not see a number then it is not finding the .nba files. When it does find them you will see the name of the rom file preceeded by a number. I would do what I did with the directories and if that doesn't work copy the .nba files into the root folder of the .cmd file folder.
i try to restore the rom with this flash.. the version on my phone is
rom : 1.8.10.2 WWE
rom date : 12/10/05
radio version 01.04.10
protocol version: 4.0.13.17

Downgrade from AKU3.5 to Original ROM...HELP PLEASE!!

Hi.
I'm having some serious problems running WM5 on my SPV M2000 (Blue Angel). Internet Explorer keeps crashing, doesn't browse...bluetooth isn't recieving files from my PC, camera closes on its own, MSN Mobile not working at ALL...etc.
I want to remove this AKU3.5 ROM and return back to my previous WM2003SE ROM from Orange or even Imate. I downloaded the Orange V2.5 ROM update but failed to initialize the update process since the Country ID was incorrect for some odd reason.
Guys can you please help me out of it. Just tell me the safest and easiest way to downgrade back to the original ROM. And is possible that when i downgrade, i can install the Imate PDA2k ROM on my Orange SPV M2000?
I'd really really appreciate your help. Looking forward to your replies!
My device information details are:
ROM version : 5.04.09.WWE
ROM date : 11/02/06
Radio Version : 1.13.00
Protocol Version : 1337.42
ExtROM version : *empty* (blank)
i would make use of wm5 maupgrade_noID utility to flash the .nbf file of wm3 back to the original rom.

Yeah hi. Thanks for the reply, could you please give me a step by step procedure how am i suppose to do it? Where do i get the files from and how do i go about it.
I'd be grateful man!
As i see you use helmi aku 3.5 rom.
when u extracted the file out of the zip file u initially downloaded, u should see a folder name PH20B1. It includes maupgrade_noid utility there.
so basically what u do is extract the original rom (nk.nbf) into that PH20B1 folder, then put your device to bootloader mode, flash it as normal.

Actually i didn't install Helmi AKU3.5 ROM. I bought my phone used, and had this rom already installed. Now i want to get back to my original factory ROM. And i can't seem to get how to do it
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Upgrades
link above lists all the original rom for each device / operator.
please see the attachment, it's the utility to upgrade.
for further information please read wiki though.
Thank you imatrix. Will go through the link you provided. Thanks for all your help!
By the way...is it possible for me to flash an Imate ROM on an Orange SPV M2000? I find Imate ROMs more stable than Orange.
ooo?/
I think, you will have a serious problem wwhen you go back to wm2003 mate.. you're bluetooth will be useless, I don't know why and how,,.. I tried wm2003 downgrade last time, and I was worried because when I try to turn my bt on, it keeps may saying that the bluetooth software is expired..bla..bla..and I can't turn my bluetooth on.. though I haven't tried installing abt stack, but I guess same thing will happen.. but its for you to find out.. theres a very comprehensive details on downgrading/upgrading roms on blueangel wiki.. to get rid of that country I'd error, just use maupgradeutnoid.exe which you can also download from there

Orange UK 1.19.61.1 WWE (hopefully working)

Hi all,
My first time being a productive member of this great forum (or at least, I hope so ).
I've been wanting to flash the ROM on my Touch HD with Orange UK (something I've never done before), but as an "insurance policy", wanted to have a backup of the stock ROM in case I have he need to restore it, or need to send back the phone to Orange for some reason. After searching the Internet at large and this forum in particular, I was unable to find a dump of the same ROM version as the one I have (1.19.61.1) with Orange UK, so after an hour or more of searching and reading, I was finally able to follow the steps to extract the ROM from memory in .raw format and then reassemble it as an .nbh file using the itsutils tools and the Blackstone "Kitchen" tools. The reference ROM I used for the reconstruction process was this one (found through the forums):
RUU_BlackStone_HKCSL_WWE_1.19.831.0_Radio_52.49a.2 5.26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe
Here are the complete details regarding the ROM I'm posting, from the Device Information program of my phone:
Operator version: 34.119.1.611
ROM version: 1.19.61.1 WWE
ROM date: 11/25/08
Radio version: 1.09.25.14
Protocol version: 52.49a.25.26U
The process seems to have gone smoothly, and I have ended up with ruu_signed.nbh file, which I have uploaded for you all on Rapidshare and Mediafire.
However, I have not actually flashed my device with this ROM (since this is the current ROM on my device, and having no actual experience in flashing yet, the result might seem a bit ambigious to me) I would really appreciate it if someone would verify whether it actually works or not, so people don't heap curses on me if it doesn't... I'm just a newbie, remember.
So without further ado:

This is exactly what i need! Hope its working for the both of us!
