No activesync on ppc after rom upgrade.. - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hello,
I just updated my qtek 9090 with BA_DT_WWE_DutchRetail_14000_553_11200_Ship.exe.
And there is no activesync on the pda...
Activesync works but i can`t start the program so i can`t sync with my exchange server...
Any idea`s?
Regards

If you hit the start button, you do not see Activesync along the top?
If you don't, then go into your Windows Directory using File Explorer and select "View all files" from the hold-menu. Then look to see if you have 2 files names async, one should be 1B, and the other 14 or so bytes. If you do, and you are SURE Activesync does not appear in your programs list nor the top of your Start Menu, then copy the 1B file and paste it into \Windows\Start Menu\Programs to be set.

Try Windows\Rings
Make sure that when you go into the "Explore" tab in Active Sync, you have selected to UNhide all files and folders through "Tools > Options". Otherwise, your Windows folder won't even appear in the Explore window.

I dont see that option. can you be more specific?
thanks

After you've opened "Explore" in ActiveSync, tap "Tools > Folder Options". Then open the "View" tab. Under the Folder that say's "Hidden files and folders, tap the radio button next to "Show hidden files and folders". Exit out of that window and your Windows directory folder will now show up.

Problem with application start menu links

On mmy 8925 Tilt, I did just what I did on my old 8525, but I am having error messages.
I went into Windows > Start Menu > Programs, and made some new folders to organize my shortcuts.
I now. randomly, get two specific program error messages that the .lnk file cannot be found, BUT, when I go to the Start Menu, click on the link, the two applications open and operate.
Any suggestion, other than move the link. Thanks
Are you using the Menu tool in the Settings-Home tab? For some reason when you assign a program to the Start menu, it moves the shortcut from the Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder to the Windows/Start Menu folder. This then screws up any shortcuts you have setup (like in the appplication tab of the HTC home plugin).
I wonder if there is a registry setting to change this behavior? This did not happen on my 8525 w/ WM6.
No, that is not an issue. These are links that were listed under Programs, in the Start Menu, that I moved into subfolders that I created; like the folder "Utilities" has within it MemMaid, and SK Tools, etc.
I would create a new link for the two entries that 'short circuit' and replace the old (original) links, but I do not know how to do this!
Can anyone help me create new links??
Thanks
I am not quite sure exactly what you are trying to do, but here is what I do to create folders and shortcuts in my Start Menu\Programs folder.
With a File Explorer Navigate to Windows\Start Menu\Programs (or the directory you want to put the links in)
Click Menu, select New Folder, and type the desired name for the folder.
Next Navigate to the .EXE file for the program you want to make a shortcut to. (If it is a program you have added, it may be in either the \\Program Files, \\Windows, or \\Storage Card\Program Files folder)
Highlight the .EXE file and select Menu->Edit->Copy
Next Navigate back to the Folder you created in the Start Menu\Programs
Select Menu->Edit->Paste Shortcut (This will create a .lnk file that links back to the .EXE) You can rename the .lnk file whatever you like, and that is what will show up in the Programs Folder.

application and folders

hello
i need to move many application shortcuts from programs menu to folder.
like ofice mobile: contain word, excel , power point...
system tools: internet sharing, comm manager...
i am using romeos rom
Hi,
What you need to do is using your phones File Explorer or something similar, navigate to your windows directory, then the directory called start Menu.
In here you can create new folders and move icons around into different folders. this will then show how you want it to on the Start > Programs menu when you navigate your programs list.
Hope this helps you.

ROMeOS containts Total Commander on the start menu (not in programs). Open it and navigate to the \Windows\Start menu folder, then you move files like in you do in Normal Desktop Windows.
Thanks

[Question]How to make a link to a .exe

I have a question
I have the game "Worms" on my device. To specify it's on my storage card.
Today I made a hard reset.
Now I want to make a link to the .exe from Worms. Cause now I hae to go through file-explorer and I want it like it was before the hard reset. There was a link in my games folder before the hard reset under programs...
How can I do this again ?
resco file explorer is your friend
Sorry, but I don't unsterstand this....
It is being suggested you download and install Resco Explorer a pay-for app that does have a free trial. Resco allows you to Click/Hold an .exe file and Send To a StartMenu shortcut which are trying to do.
You can do it the hard way with Notepad but it is a pain.
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/
Total Commander, I think will do it too, but I own Resco and am familiar with it. It is FREE.
Hi
If you use Resco File explorer you can create shortcut to any exe file.it wil be placed to your start menu.but you can do it manualy too.without useing Resco FE.
1. Open Notepad
2. Place the entire path to the file in the first line of the file, including the .exe file. You must use quotation marks if it resides in a directory with spaces, such as “\Program Files.”
3. Count the number of characters in the command line, including spaces and quotes, to get the length of the string.
4. In the .lnk file, the format for the line is
<length of string>#<command line>
5. Save the file and copy it to the "\Windows\Start Menu" directory on the Windows CE or Pocket PC device. This places the shortcut at the top level of the Start Menu.
You don't need a 3rd-party explorer or notepad. Creating shortcuts is very simple using the built-in file explorer.
Step 1: Start file explorer.
Step 2: Navigate to the folder the EXE is in.
Step 3: Highlight the EXE.
Step 4: Copy the EXE to the clipboard (Menu | Edit | Copy).
Step 5: Navigate to the start menu folder you want the shortcut in (typically \Windows\Start Menu\Programs).
Step 6: Paste a shortcut to the EXE (Menu | Edit | Paste Shortcut).
Step 7: Rename the shortcut if desired.
The shortcut will now be in start menu programs. You can now move it to and from the top-level start menu using Start | Settings | Menus.

First of all thanks to everyone for posting...
But I have one question....what do you mean with "highlight the EXE?"
I hope you can help me ^^

When you navigate to a folder in File Explorer, the first file in the folder is highlighted (selected). Highlight the the executable file to which you need a start menu shortcut, either using d-pad down, or tap-n-hold with the stylus. This will be the file copied to the clipboard in step #4.
Note: I use the term "highlight" rather than "select" because selecting the file implies tapping on it, which will open the application. You don't want to start the application.

how to create shortcut to tomtom?

Hi guys,
I have tomtom navigator installed to storage card but cannot create a shortcut on the today screen either through easytodaylauncher or spb ms3.5.
I got through the usual steps to create a shortcut but tomtom is not there.
to open tomtom I have to go to storagecard/navigator and select the .exe file for it to run.
I have tried copying the .exe file onto the device in to programfiles with no joy.
Please could someone with better intellegence than me tell me how to do it?
Thank you for reading.
Use total commander to create a shortcut to \windows\Start menu\Programs
I also got it at Storage card. Dunno if it will show up at easytodaylauncher and spb ms3.5 but i think so.
Tap and hold .exe file, select Edit > Copy, then navigate to windows/start menu/programs and tap menu and then select Edit > Paste Shortcut. Come out of the folder, go back in and there should be "Shortcut to TomTom..", rename.
Please elaborate on your problem. Does the shortcut appear in the file explorer?
