QTEK 2020i and TomTom - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

Hi,
Last days I posted a similar message in Himalaya forum, but I think is better to make the question here.
First of all, sorry for my very bad English.
I am trying to find a good navigator. I saw a that TT5.1 hangs my QTEK 2020i frequently and I need a softreset. I am testing a patched version from emule of TomTom 5.1 before buying due to some comments about its frequent hangs up with XDA 2. I don't know if the problem could be the GPS, the SD card, the QTEK...
Could any of TT5 users confirm:
1. If his TT5 runs correctly in their QTEK 2020i or XDA 2i?
2. If is a patched or oficial (buyed) version?
I am Spanish and I use Telefonica Movistar as provider, no O2 as the majority, then I can not upgrade my rom.
Could anyone explain what Radio version does and if is it possible to improve from 1.02 to 1.03 only, with no changes in protocol version, ext rom...
Hardware data:
Version ROM: 1.11.03 ESN
Date ROM: 31/01/05
Version radio: 1.02.00
Version protocol: 1337.41
Version ExtROM: 1.11.117 ESN
San Disk SD card 1gb
Haicom GPS HI-303E with bluetooth slipper HI-401 BT
Any help will be good
Thanks
Bye

I have a Qtek 2020i and TT5.1 runs fine for me, but I have changed my firmware.
Either get the O2 mod'ed firmware with the 1.03 radio from this site or the latest i-mate PDA2.
Both of these have fixed bugs which made TT and other apps crash.

Neither of the above helped me though, there seems to also be an issue with SD card access speed too.

Thanks,
Today I tested a Sd card San Disk Ultra II 512 mb (reading 10mb/s and writing 9mb/s) wit anything in the SD card and again hangs up and a softreset needed...
Only some questions from a desperated novice:
1. Is there any problem if I put this O2 moded firmware with the 1.03 radio from this site and my operating telephone company is Telefonica Movitar from Spain?
2. Where can I find this O2 moded firmware with the 1.03 radio from this site?
3. Is it possible to return to my actual firmware if there is some major problems? How? with a new hard reset?
Sorry for a lot of questions
Bye

It seems as if the 2020 has problems with "large" SD cards - my "cheap" 1GB cards hang TT5 on a regular basis, I have some better 1GB cards that work perfectly but will not allow me to pick up traffic updates. I also have a Panasonic 128MB card which usually works perfectly (once I can get the 2020 to see it which might mean sticking it in and out a few times), the 128 card will pick up traffic updates and everything else with no problems whatsoever - maybe try a smaller card.
Dave

I use the cheap 32x LEXAR 1GB SD card on my 2020i. The only problem I encountered were all the files were read only when it installed.

help my imate pda2... my rom is 64... why?

I have bought a pda2 but there is a problem with flashRom size....In device information------>Hardware the flashRom size is 64Mb.....I don't know how it's possible...thanks for your help.
ps. I have read after the Italian version of imate website and i have uncovered that the Italian version has only 64 mb of rom. how it is possible?
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you Iranian?.....
The Alpine has 64MB reserved for the OS, Extended rom, radio stack, splash screen and so on which is updated using a PC.
64MB reserved for Storage which you can use to store data.
128MB split between program memory and memory storage, user adjustable.
What you are describing is the official size of the Storage which as standard shows up as less than 60MB by the time it is formatted.

Upgrading to TuMa 1.3: Must have an SD Card?

I successfully upgraded from WM2003 to WM2005 some months ago. I'd now like to upgrade again to TuMa 1.3. Currently my existing rom is 5.03.02 and it crashes quite regularly - especially if people call me.
Anyway, I've been reading through the wiki and a lot of the threads again but there's one thing I can't seem to understand. It seems as if upgrading requires an SD card? Is this the case?
Now, before I'm accused of not reading the documentation, I have and it quite clearly states, "copy the EXTROM folder to your storage card". That's fine and well but I've never had an SD card so how did I manage the first upgrade?
What I've been trying to find out (with little success) is if "storage card" is like the ROM storage area but before I flash my SPV M2000 into a very expensive paperweight I thought I'd better check. Better safe than sorry I guess.
Can someone confirm?
no sd card
i've got a spv m2000 and no sd card but i've managed to upgrade to tuma 1.3 no problem i just copied the extrom to the storage on the phone got less storage now but still works fine

Do you remember where you copied it to? Was it the root directory or just in My Documents?
My worry is I'll copy it somewhere that the install program won't be looking. In the documentation it explicitly states "storage card/EXTROM". It'd be just my luck to copy to the files to the root of my device - try to flash it and having it fail because it couldn't find the image files.
You seriously don't have an SD Card?!
Go to a store, buy a 128 MB one for nearly nothing. Honestly, I can't imagine running a Windows Mobile device without one, especially Windows Mobile 5. There just isn't enough space natively in the device.
You don't technically NEED anything in the EXTROM folder either. Alternatively, you can just take all of its contents (cab files) and put them on your device using activesync, and run them in File Explorer to install them. It's the same thing, just not automatic.

I've not had the need to use much memory on the phone really.
When I had an iPAQ I needed loads of memory and was always using it everywhere but I've found the SPV to be very slow (hopefully improved with the new ROM) and also the headphone socket is proprietary so I can't use headphones that fit my ears that don't fall out.
As well as this, I no longer use Windows - well I use my gf's laptop to flash the phone but that's about it. There's very little integration with Unix and the SPV and it's led to a dramatic reduction of usage.
I've heard of some programs that can sync with Evolution on Unix but they're very unstable at the moment and require quite some understanding to get working and I don't have the time to get that working just yet - maybe in a few weeks time.
I've already ordered an SD card but was just a little excited about the prospect of flashing the ROM (it's like Christmas morning for me!) and was wondering if I could do it without it.
Anyway, running the cabs one by one sounds like a solution for the time being. I thought it needed to replace parts of the sub-system that needed a hard reset no?
Once the ROM is flashed, will Device Information reflect the ROM Version as WM5 5.1.1700?
There is no problem to flash this rom without SD card, because you can install manually every cab from extrom after flashing

Thanks xplode.
I've worked out that the cabs are completely independent of the ROM update and as such don't even need to be on the device.
I thought they were like install files and needed to be present after reboot for the flashing to complete properly. My mistake.

xda 2i storage size only 0.11mb

Hi ppl
i have a problem with my unit showing only 0.11mb storage available
under device info->Hardware
rom ver 1.11.00 WWE
radio ver 1.00.00
protocol ver 1337.39
ExtRom Ver (just blank)
i was running extRom Unlock earlier which was really a stupid thing to do
appreciate any help anyone could suggest to fix this
thanks
Have you reflashed your device with the ROM image from your provider or the original Qtek ROM?
But I think you've totally damaged your Storage! Bad but true!
does it mean it's gone....& no other way of recovering it
all i did was running the ExtROM unlocker & unhide
& DOC repartitioning tool
can anyone tell me what is the standard
storage like for XDA 2i
currently i can see tot main memory 121.8 mb
which split into
program memory 50.8mb &
storage memory 71.0mb
then i have storage card (which depend on SD card size)
& storage of 0.1 mb only (which i think should be around 50 ++mb)
thanks
storage fixed
hmm finally i've fixed it...
what actually happen is the DOC partition tool
got me fooled....by default it partition only 128kb of my ROM
that's why i only got 0.11mb storage space
by just guessing the actuall size i've tried from 128 mb & going down
finally i got ~60 mb
thanks for the input.....yeah

Card export or WM5torage dont work on AthineOS 3.2

Hi!
First, sorry my poor english.
Im flashed the new AthineOS 3.2, and cant do the Card Export2 or WM5torage to work.
The message of new hardware appears on windows, shows "Mass Storage Media Device", but dont appear on Windows Explorer.
When i disconnect the cable, windows explorer show one removable device for 2 seconds more or less, but this device does not contain the name of my card.
What is happening? My card works well when i put in a usb memory reader.
Thanks a lot for the help!!
Paulo Alexandre
It's known WM5torage is dodgy, but CardExport should work. You should search that ROM's thread for other reports of this problem and/or post there as it's most likely related to the ROM.
Thanks man.
Will search on a AthineOS 3.2 Thread.
I have this problem only after the flashing... before the Athine i used one Dutty 6.0 Rom, and i liked.
have a Dutty WM 6.1 Rom?
Thanks!!!
