XDA2i - bluetooth stuff - newbie question - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

Greetings folks ....as regards fiddling around with ROMs etc... I'm a total newbie at this ... but am willing to give it a shot ..... however am also in the lucky position of having an XDA2 and (recently upgraded to) XDA2i ....
Got a bluetooth fit in the car (AUDI UHV9649) which does nothing with the XDA2 (old MS BT stack so no handsfree :-( ) but does work with the XDA2i (Widcomm 1.0.0 build3900) ... for 3 minutes at a time .... but it then disconnects and reconnects EVERY 3 minutes ..... and doesnt do the SIM Access Profile ..... any ideas ?
So, this niggling problem has prompted me to see if there are newer and better BT setups out there that I can apply to the XDA2 and XDA2i ...
Hence my lurking on the forum ... and now 'coming out' !
From what I have gleaned from 3 days perusing the forums ......
There is a ROM upgrade to the XDA2i, but what improvements (if any) does this ROM1.11.162 Radio1.03 give over the ROM1.10.00 Radio1.0.0 - and is there better bluetooth functionality/stability ? What BT version is on this ?
------
Also see that there is a patched WM2005 fit for the XDA2 on buzznet (Buzz Lightyear you have my respect sir 8) ) .......
How stable is this ? And can anyone say what BT version is on that ?
Appreciate any answers and look forward to starting to get my hands dirty ....

XDAIIi (Alpine) - Bluetooth Stack upgrade - how to?
Hi Captain
I see your post is getting old, but it's my first day lurking the forum and so far I haven't been able to work out how to upgrade my Bluetooth stack... Have you had any luck?
I need to upgrade mine for different reason - I've just bought AnyCom BSH-100 Bluetooth Stereo Headset fooling my self that I will be able to use the headset for listening to mp3 music etc. as well as handsfree, but as it turns out the XDAIIi does not fully support the Advance Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) required to listen to high quality audio...
Even more confusing the spec on the O2 web site states that the XDAIIi supports A2DP.
Please anyone! How to upgrade the bluetooth stack? I would do it even to a hacked version that works with that headset....
Please share your experience...
Thanks!
On my device I have Bluetooth version 1.0.0 Build 3900 from Broadcom!

Extra bluetooth profiles for XDA2i (Alpine)
Hi,
I downloaded the following:
ftp://xda:[email protected] 3500/Broadcom Corporation BT-PPC AV.cab
And installed it on my XDA2i and all was well (I copied the cab file to my XDA and ran it from there)
Adds a few extra profiles to your bluetooth manager including "High quality audio"
Hope that helps! (Works for my Motorola HT820 headphones)
Out of interest where abouts does it mention A2DP on O2's website?, I'd love to be able to quote it back to them in an argument I'm currently having with them

Hi,
BIG THANX for the spot on info! This is exactly what I'm looking for I hope it should work for me too...
Can you confirm you've just installed this CAB on top of your existing Bluetooth software that comes with the XDAIIi (mine is Broadcom version 1.0.0 Build 3900)?
I was planning to buy the Motorola HT820, but I impulsively bought AnyCom BSH-100 because it's foldable... At least I can swap it now for Motorola if I can't get mine to work with this update!

Yes I initially read about it here on these forums, but I didn't bookmark the thread. It was on the O2's web site I checked. Now I tried searching but couldn't find the thread... As far as I remember it was on www.my-xda.com
It is not on the web site anymore it appears they have taken it off, because people already had our problem and quoted the A2DP support...
Anyway, what's more interesting is that I spoke to O2 Data Support today again. The guy seemed quite apologetic and could not give me any resolution or promise future updates. What's more important he pointed me to these forums (XDA-Developers) for not supported solution to my problem. He confirmed that I can have A2DP support but refused to email me info because it is not officially supported by O2!
I'll post again with the result of this update I hope it makes my XDAIIi compatible with the AnyCom BSH-100 Bluetooth Stereo Headset I bought, by adding the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile.

BINGO! It works like a dream!
I can't believe it... As you said all I had to do is run this BT update (CAB file) and there it is - The A2DP was available in the Bluetooth Connection Wizard in Bluetooth Manager! I didn't even have to pair the headset again (after the install - I did soft reset just to stay on the safe side prior running BT Manager). I just run the wizard again with High Quality Audio selected it listed my headset (AnyCom BSH-100 Bluetooth Stereo Headset) now I have 2 shortcuts on My Shortcuts tab one is Hands-free and the other High Quality Audio!
The install hasn't changed the BT stack version on my device - it appears the only visible effect is the extra profile to support A2DP.
Now I can listen to mp3 and watch movies, be on skype and of cause use it as hands-free too - ALL this on my XDAIIi
So far I'm very happy with the headset - it does everything it says on the box!

Exactly that just ran the cab file on the phone over the top of the standard O2 rom (bluetooth stack 3900).
The only part that doesn't work from the HT820 is the remote control functions for media player (meant to be able to do next/previous track play/pause) but sound quality is perfect (seems to drop a fraction on a second silence in every so often but there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it so don't know if its the headphones the xda or just bluetooth.

dear members
I downloaded the cab file in my M500 but that dont work.Infact my homescreen is not readeble any more (hard reset?).
Is there no other way to make it possible to use my bt headset with my m500?
thanx for replyíng.and sorry if this question is frequently asked?
Sjon

Yes hard reset will restore your original install you may also try a backup if you have one.
Please note this update will work if the Bluetooth stack on your device is from Broadcom. I think the M500 may have the Microsoft one...
see also this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=30192&highlight=a2dp+bt
From experience this update works for the Broadcom BT stack.
I hope this helps...

Thank you.
I've read the post...I see now that there is no solution for my problem
Once again i was to fast for installing before reading.
best regards sjon

I can confirm everything you say applies to my AnyCom BSH-100 headset too - remote functions do not work, I also experience the same brief drop of sound! I tried with ecrypted and non encrypted connection to the headset to make sure it's not the excyption that is causing the problem. Also tried different players - no luck. Must be the bluetooth implementation
Please let us know if you manage to resolve this problem!
Thanks

Yesterday I applied the same Bluetooth update to add A2DP support to MDAIII as sold from T-mobile UK!
I did experience the same problem with Todays screen! This is not a problem at all - Todays screen gets messed up because it appears that the install interferes with the current Theme!
All you have to do to fix it is reapply your existing Theme from Start --> Settings --> Today --> Select a theme for your device --> OK
Apart from this this update does add the following two Bluetooth profiles:
High Quality Audio
Bluetooth Keyboard
You can try again - No need for hard reset to restore your Todays Screen

Please note this is FTP (not HTTP  ) link! You can use any FTP client to connect to the ftp host/server: ftp.xda-developers.com with user name and password xda then you browse to the directory (you can see the path in the link above) where the cab file is and download it!
Possible reason why the link may not work for you is because you are behind firewall where the FTP protocol is blocked! Also make sure you are ising Internet Explorer when clicking on the link. Interenet Explorer can work as ftp client when the link is in the above format and FTP protocol is not blocked by a firewall...
I hope that helps!

iPAQ bluetooth stereo headphones

Has / does anyone know how to install the iPAQ bluetooth stereo headphones onto the XdaIIs, it throws an error after loading the cab file saying this is not an iPAQ. Is there anyway i can get around this???
As far as I know the BT stack doesn't support this.
i cannot see why not because the stacks are the same in the new XDAIIs and the HX4700?? the drivers just install a new type of device to discover in bluetooth manager
Whats the version # of the HP Ipaq 4700 Widcomm stack, build #?
Can you post the headphones cab or install file? Maybe someone can hack it. I WOULD LOVE to buy the imate BT headphones.
the bluetooth build is version 1.5.0 build 100 i will post the cabs tonight
I actually purchased the Bluetooth Headset to see if it would work with my PDA2k, and I tried and tried and it wouldnt. It just doesnt reconize it.
I also tried to pair the headset with my HP Dv1000 Notebook (YES SAME COMPANY!!) and it doesnt work. After 2 hours on the phone with HP support they said that it just isnt going to work.
I have no idea why HP would make such a nice pair of headphones and not even let it work with there bluetooth laptops! Weird!
sorry guys just trying to find the install cd so i can get the files,
JEMichael,
It will not work on the PDA2k because it needs an updated version of the bluetooth stack from widcomm. I've got this i just need someone to remove the ipaq checking utility from the install for me to test this on the IIs.
Anyone,
I have uploaded the installation file for the ipaq bt stack in ftp://xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/ called BT-PPC AV Setup.exe If someone can exctact the CAB installation file and remove the ipaq check i will be more then welcome in funding your efforts.
Thanks
Chris
Original Cab file from install
This is modified Cab with necessary registry changes.
It will install on Qtek 9090.
mcmatrix,
your a legend, it works auwsome!!! I am using the HP Bluetooth headphones, discovers the service, plays fine, can even change the track on windows media player!! How much do i owe you?
So with my XDAIIs this modified cab file will install and work with the HP headphones?
Are there any conflicts? Is this with the o2 bluetooth patch?
THANKS!
yes this is with the bluetooth patch, no conflicts yet, i have both HP headset and a Sony Ericsson HBH Akono 660 connected. When a call comes through i answer it in the HBH which pauses the music. This is auwsome!!!!!

Thats excellent
What is your bluetooth stack version?
My Qtek 9090 has bluetooth v3500.
I dont have HP headphones but i tried to make High Audio connection with Sony Ericsson HBH 600. No success yet. It gives error when bluetooth wizard attempt to discover HBH 600 services.
So far no other bluetooth conflicts.
bluetooth stack version is 1.0.0 build 3500, thanks mate
one thing i did notice is that on the ipaq is the bluetooth version is 1.5.0 Do you reckon this would be a more stable build than our current one?? Any chance of trying to install the 1.5.0 build and trying it out?
so this hp software for the headphones is changing the bluetooth version. Therefore we could be up for bluetooth headset problems with the blue angel.
I have a XDA IIs with the offical bluetooth patch (3500) and am running perfect. If I install this software, I could go back to bluetooth not always on, not bonding...

Do you get callerID properly displayed on your HBH660? Did the 660 work before you applied the HP patch?
Great!
Does this work with any of the headsets (other than the HP one) that also have an included mic?
Like the Bluetake BT420 Bluetooth Hi-Fi Sports Headphone?
Is it possible to get the audio on the phone headset?
Thank you!
Chris
the caller id works fine on the 660 with build 1500 and 3500, the hp bluetooth stack is not being installed, its just registry settings changed to add the high quality audio discovery

Unofficial Bluetooth Stack "Upgrade" For iMate PDA

Check out this link from PocketPCThoughts.com for a new Bluetooth patch from Broadcom for the PDA2K...
Fellow MVP Helio Diamant, of Pocket PC Freak, has gotten a fantastic little nugget for iMate PDA2k owners:
Quote:
A friend of mine has just come back from CES and brought with him a little CAB file that was being given by the guys from Broadcom there. They told him we can publish and offer for download, so I am putting it here to you guys too.
When installed, this CAB adds the following profiles to the Broadcom BT stack in the PDA2K:
1. High-Quality Audio
2. Keyboard
This means that those of you holding stereo headsets can now connect them to PDA2k and here music, navigation instructions, etc from the device. As well, Bluetooth Keyboards are supposed to work well.
Early reports suggest it works with a number of devices, including both HTC Blue Angel and HTC Harrier units; it might work with other Broadcom-based (i.e., Widcomm) Bluetooth units, but there's no guarantee. If you're interested in playing "with it, you can download the CAB here. Note: This update is unofficial and unsupported; install it at your own risk, and do a backup first! As far as I know, it's a RAM update, but I haven't tried it. Good luck if you do. "

Noviur,
On which device did you try ? i-Mate PDA2k?
cheers,
bins
install seems not to work
Just tried the cab install (both from my SD card and Program Files location - after resets), but nothing seems to have changed on my i-Mate PDA2k with Rom 1.22.162 WWE.
1. No BT Services were added (still only File Transfer, InformationExchange, Serial Port, Personal Network Server, Dial-up BNetworking Server, Hands-Free),
2. No update seems to have happened, all module versions remained at 1.0.0.3500 (except obviously the BTPluginManagerCE.exe [1.0.0.1]),
3. Despite the dialog box telling it is "writing information for Remove Programs" it can not be found back in the Remove Programs.
Any clues?
cheers,
bins
P.S. Just in case, and like Noviur, reverted with Sprite Backup
The version information in the package suggests 1.6.0.0600
did you install the 1.6.0.0600 upgrade before u installed this?
i installed it.. the new 2 profiles show up but the audio one doesnt work ..
i have pda2k
any help???
I installed the new patch on an SX-66. It doesn't upgrade the Bluetooth stack or provide new services. But it does add 2 new profiles. One for a Stereo audio headset (this won't work with a Hands free device since the profile doesn't include support for a MIC.) and one for a keyboard.
I also switched my Bluetooth stack to the 1.6 version posted here. This seems to be a stack based on Widcom as opposed to Microsoft. Although my device worked and seemed to pair faster my Handsfree device didn't come on when dialing the phone. So I switched back.
Remco, thx, installed the Broadcom 1.6.0.600 cab-file first and afterwards installed the PDA2k cab-file.
Update seems to have worked and indeed have the two new client profiles.
Will check in the store tomorrow if the HQ audio works indeed and if no other nuisances arise.
Will keep you in the loop.
cheers,
bins
Installed it on my Qtek9090 with rom 1.22.00/1.06.00/1337.38/1.22.556
I was able to bond my Logitech DiNovo keyboard to the PDA and use it !
It works very well, very cool to be able to type on a full size keyboard on your PDA.
I don't own a BT audio headset, so i wasn't able to test that.
All other devices like my GPS mouse, Bluetrek G2 headset etc. seem to work ok as they did before.
nop, it was I-Mate PPC. I new it is for PDA2K, but wanted to try it
Previously I installed Widcom BT 1.6.
No luck for me ... for now at least
Did it answer calls through the b/t headset? Mine wouldn't connect to the headset for outgoing or incoming calls. Also if it does work, which PDA2K cab did you use?
Thanks

Hi,
I just got my HP bluetooth headphones... and I absolutely love them!!!. The range is ok... not great, but enough to be considered fully usable. It crackles if there is some physical resistance between the MDAIII and the headphones, but other than that, they are awesome...
Anyone that is considering to get them, I highly recommend it. But be sure to have a 3500 bluetooth stack (with the extensions posted here of course) and Radio 1.06.02 (I am not sure whether 00 would do equally, but I recommend 02).

Me too. Can someone email me a copy of this file?

Redirect all sound to bluetooth headset?

Is it possible to redirect all sound to my bluetooth headset?
I'm using a Jabra BT205 which I don't think supports A2DP. I'd like to be able to hear my TomTom through my jabra.
This link provides you with some information in regard to how to redirect all audio to your bluetooth headset. I've tested this on my Wizard WM5 unit - and the author claims its made for wm2003. So if your running the windows OS - it should work for you!

My Jabra headset worked anyway. You connect the device and you get the little headphones icon on the screen as the device is in standby mode. Now touch the main button on the Jabra and the icon now has little lines coming out of it and the device is in live mode. Start TomTom and your away.

Bluetooth stack with A2DP stack

Guys,
Where can i get a bluetooth stack that have A2DP stack on it so that i can use it on my stereo bluetooth headset for audio....
Try this

In combinbation with bt 1.0.0.3900
ftp://xda:[email protected] Upgrades/BroadcomCorp_BT1.0.0.3900.cab
Works fine on my pda.
I tried the first cab and it broke my today screen! The wallpaper is black behind PocketBreeze and scrambled behind iLauncher. Weird. Soft reset doesn't help.
I already had BT 3900 so I didn't use the second cab.
Oh wait, today screen problem solved! I switched wallpapers and then switched back to the original, it's fine now. I'll submit this post anyway for reference if it happens to someone else.
Anyway, the A2DP profile is there all right, so thanks Vastloper!
thanks. but the link seems not working....
my fault
it works now
I tried the 1st link, but it made no difference.

In Bluetooth Manager, select "new connection". There should be a new option in the list called "High quality audio". Use that to connect to your headset.
Did you download the .cab file and run it on your device? You have to download it, copy it to your pocket pc and run it by tapping on it in file manager. If you did all this and still don't have the High quality audio option, I have no idea what could be wrong.
By the way, once you've managed to install the patch: if you have a ROM version with Windows Media Player 10, you may want to read this thread.
link broken

It worked perfectly, in my configuration menu, i have the high quality option.
Anyone had trouble actually making an A2DP connection work with these mods?
The A2DP profile is there, and seems to have all the right stuffs, but actually making it connect to my earphones (sony DR-BT20NX) is proving an issue.
Thus far ive only managed a normal HSP hands free style connection.
Such a waste.

Same here:
Blue Angel to JVC KD-BT1 carstereo:
Nothing but "connection error" (Have'nt tried your HSP connection, though)
Awesome!
Thanks, this worked like a charm although I did have to perform a Hard Reset first. I can now listen to stereo sound through my Oakley O Rokr sunglasses and use my hands-free headset.
XV6600 Verizon
I downloaded and installed
ftp://xda:[email protected] 3500/Broadcom Corporation BT-PPC AV.cab
which gives me the High Quality Audio profile. However, I only get sound when playing music through Media Player. All other sounds (system sounds, telephone, sounds from games) are muted. Am I doing anything wrong?

Same for me.
Furthermore ever since the update to A2DP my BT-serial com connection to my BT-gps-mouse couldn´t be established anymore.
Any help? NEWER - BETTER A2DP update?
ok so i have an htc p4000 and i recently bought a scosche bluetooth receiver kit and i'm able to produce some sound but its not high quality. i checked and my phone does support the A2DP service but it sound like my device is outputting sound for headphones and not normal speakers. i used both the cabs you put on here and they are functioning but it says that my bluetooth is off in it. my dad has an ipaq and the bluetooth manager on his phone seems to pick up my scocshe perfectly and is perfectly able to play. anybody know where i can find that bluetooth manager? thanks for the help if you can help
Hope this help:

music over bluetooth?

With the wizard there was a way to get music from the mp3 player to play over non-sterio bluetooth is there a way to do it with the kaiser also? anyone know?
you bluetooth devive needs to support bluetooth audio profile the was a bt audio for other devices that works and works with the magician i think it was have a look for the cab file on the site
YES!!!
The BT stack is different than the Tytn/Hermes - BTAudio works GREAT! Just do a search and download it - it's freeware.
Only drawback I can see is that it doesn't detect when no audio is being transmitted and won't time out (afaik after 1 day of use).
BTAudio also doesn't interfere with MS VC 1.6 - call announcements come thru on headset AND you can also simply stop your music and press the headset button to initiate VC!
After dealing with the hermes, you have no idea what a relief it is!
Thank you so much works perfectly
With BTAudio, do you mean the triangle powers software version? Because there is also a BTAudio zipfile in the kaiser "latest cabs" thread that contains three executables (on, off and toggle). The triangle version works for me with my parrot CK3100 but the toggle executable sounds more practical!

The BTAudio.zip from the "latest cabs" works like a charm for me. I've got the T-Mobile Vario III with the Ericsson HBH-608 bluetooth headset.
I've put the 3 files on my storage card. Added a link in the \Windows\StartMenu\Programs to the BTAudioToggle.exe. When clicking the shortcut (In the programs) my sound gets redirected from and to my bluetooth headset.
Tomorrow the I'll do a check with my Parrot CK3100 carkit. Try to give you an update tomorrow.
Tried the BTAudio with my Parrot. But it didn't do the job. Does anybody else have any experience with this?
