English ROM with a French keyboard - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Is it possible to have an english ROM (i-mate, T-mobile, Orange) but install on a French QTEK 9100 and with an operational azerty keyboard ?

Yes and no
Yes it is possible to have an English ROM PDA but the HARDWARE keyboard is french. All you have to do is look for the registry key:
HKLM/software/OEM/Qwerty
Check what the value is in a French device.
Then upgrade to english and change the same key from the english value to the french. This takes care of the Hardware Keyboard.
Regarding the software keyboard, i haven't seen a hack but there are a lot of 3rd party programs that you can use that have their own software keyboard that you can assign the language. I think something like what resco or spb has
Hope this helps

I have the same problem, but I allready flash the rom to wwe and now I don't know the value for the french kayboard Please post the value here

I have also the same problem. I have allready flash the rom to wwe and there is no Reg-Key HKLM/software/OEM/Qwerty :?
Under HKLM/Software/OEM only the following entry:
3rdversion
PhoneSetting
VoiceCommand
Any idea? I have also tried the German Language Pack for WM2005 from Buzz, but it didn't work.
Thanks

My mistake, this reg key applies to the Universal, i think.
Have you tried to search for the keyword QWERTY, AZERTY or whichever through the whole registry?

yes,
I search for qwertz, qwerty, wert - without any result
I find a key \HKCU\keyboard layout\Preload - there is an value "default - e0010409"
I've changed this value to e0010407 - but unsuccessful

keyboardmapper
try this site it has prmapped key board progs settings for diffrent languages

Hi,
I have a french-keyboard QTEK 9100 with the WWE ROM....
i have tried aekmap, but in fact i could not find any .aek file describing the INTERNAL french keyboard of the wizard. The one referenced in the website, in fact, contains tokens not digested by the trial version, and in addition is probably for an external bluetooth keyboard...anybody that already did the job and could help? thanks indeed,
Piero

No AEKMap. No that registry key.

how to flash SX66 with german T-Mobile Firmware?

Hello to all,
knows someone how i can upgrade my Cingular Siemens SX66 with english Keyboard to a german MDAIII without Camera but with black berry client and english keyboard layout drivers?
I see many things about how to, but i don´t understand it really. (my english and my technical knowhow is too bad) When I find a solution that works, i would like write a how to in german so that another users can explain that too..
best greetings
joy.d
P.S.
it should not be free, i will donate that, Paypal is present ;-)

Joy

ok. now i have flashed t-mobile firmware in german and it works.
but how i can change the keyboard layout back to english qwerty
drivers?
and how i kill the t-mobile logo when i put on the SX66? ;-)
we dont have a file for german rom English Keyboard in:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Localized_Keyboards
There is a tread somewere on Keyboards and not sure if wiki (tweaks) has the hack for that, its a reg key you need to change.
Thank you for the Info. ;-)
so i must search only for a registry tweak to change the driver from german Keyboard layout (qwertz) to english Keyboard layout (qwerty) ?
I must not use the Cab Files in
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Localized_Keyboards ?
I think i must change only the driver for the mechanical Keyboard ?
the soft keyboard is ok with qwertz. But at the mechanical Keyboard
i cant change the Letters only with a Edding waterproof marker ;-)
Puhh.. Heavy.. that all.
when i finished, i write a documentation in german ;-)
and when it´s work than german people´s like me
(bad english) are welcome to ask me how to ;-)
Not all that hard,

You have 2 Keyboards
Hardware (Based on the rom, (thus now in german) change with the reg tweak to English)
Software (Based on the rom (now in german) but you can load a external one which you will not need.

QWERTY problem after flashed O2 Xda into K-jam English!!

Hi all,
After reading some good topics on this forum, I flashed my German O2 Xda into K-jam English sucefully. The Qtek_9100_RUU_Prodigy_10107105_Qtek_WWE_ship & the i-mate K-JAM_WWE_1010903_106_10110 files
are 100% working.
But when using the slided out keyboard, the differnt letter & symbols mapping cause some problem. I always got
the wrong buttons!
When I press "Z" , I get letter "Y", when I press symbol "@", I get "+".
Can someone know how to resolve this?
Big Thanks!
Have a look at this app. It might work on the Wizard.

Thanks for your suggestion, mitchello. I have tried it yet. I visited the website, but I think this mapping does not quite solve the problem, because it is a bit complicated & cannot solve the symobls layout.
TRY THIS
4. for the german keyboard on english ROM
4a. get a registry editor (like Resco)
4b. search the Change the key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]
4c. edit - Layout in decimal to 66567
I have changed the value 00000409 into 00000407 in the registry : \\currentcontrolset\control\keyboardlayout
active > 00000409 , but still nothing happen.
Could there be some extra files are needed?

Tried as you said, but could not find oem\Qwerty or similar. It only has a \\currentcontrolset\control\keyboardlayout
active > 00000409 , changing 00000409 into 00000407 did not help.
I gusess some more files are needed!
Hello,
i have also search the registry for 00407 or 00409 and i found
entrys, but nothing changes are working.
Nobody has an solution for the keyboard problem ?
regards, Peter
So what is your physical keyboard layout?
(i' don't know if there is a german layout)
Is it a QWERTY board?
I have upgraded my dutch (QWERTY) wizard to the 1.1.9 K-jam rom.
And it works fine, so the default key layout for that ROM is QWERTY.
i have an german keyboard and the imate k-jam rom and now
the keys z and y are not right. (and all the other symbol keys)
Other people has the same problem.
regards

my German O2 XDA's physical keyboard layout is QWERTZ, but K-Jam English Rom require a physical keyboard layout of QWERTY. So there is a Z & Y (also some symbols ) mis-placing problem.

If you don't want to edit the registry manually try using Registry Wizard. It's available for download in the regular Wizard forum and has an option for keyboard layout.

restoring spanish keyboard afer english rom update

Hi,
I have updated my qtek 9100 to 1.6.7 english rom, and everything works great, much better than with lastest spanish rom 1.3.
the only problem I have is keyboard simbols, now are mapped different on english keyb.
Do you know how to restore spanish simbols layout?
thans for the great information on this forum!
Found a solution looking on another post.
you have to create a string registry key called Locale on KHCU\controlpanel\keyb
you have to assing an LCIDHex for your country from codes found on http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/winxp/xp-lcid.mspx
Important: use uppercase leters for hex digits, doesn't work with lowercase.
For spanish Qtek keyboard, use 0C0A

howto get local languish for bulid in keyboard with 2.25 rom

Hi,
I have upgraded my qtek 9100 with this rom
CING folks: AKU2.3 updated, now with Multi-installer + CF2
but when i try to install cap-file for danish build-in keyboard all my hardware keys get inoperative and I have to make an hard reset to get them to work again.
It is very much needed as the danish letters æøå only can be entered by using on screen keyboard
The keyboard language topic as been discussed a thousand time in this forum, pls use the search function to find how to change your keyboard language. Basically all you have to do is edit a key in your windows registry and insert your language code in it. Search the forum or read the wiki (section WM5 trick if i remember).

cmEX 0.7: Change keyboard layout from english to german

Hi!
Installed the German ROM cmEX 0.7.
Unfortunately the hardware-keyboard is set to english.
how can I change this??
Thanks!
Regards,
James
you can change your keyboard layout in the registry:
HKLM/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD -> change value of CurLang to 407 (Hex)
In wm6.5 ROMs that makes the FN-Key nearly unusable (on a german X1, but in 6.1 it works fine). I can remember, for my old Herald there is a CAB available which makes the german HW keyboard fully working under WWE-systems. Can anyone making this for Xperia?
Is it possible to use a german 6.1 keyboard driver in an english 6.5 ROM? I could try it with my own ROM, but i don't know all of the necessary files for testing it. Any help would be appreciated.
Keyboard-Layout
Actually the keyboard-layout in registry is set to 1031 (407 hex). still when writing e-mail, sms the layout is english (means y = z, ......)
Any other ideas?
Regards
Did you made a softreset? And is it a german X1 (or a german ROM at an "ausländischen" X1 )?
Sorry, forgot to answer your PM.
Its a bug. Unfortantly the Topaz Input messes with the Keyboard settings of the X1. I will release a version without the keyboard soon.
Keyboard-Layout
Thanks for the answer.
Waiting for the new release.
