Help:I don't want to install the T-mobile extended rom. How? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Being in Portugal I don't need tmobile mms and gprs settings. In one wrod: I don't want T-Mobile ext.Rom. I have already installed the Qtek 1.6.7 Rom. The splash screen is T-Mobile (?) but OS rom is Qtek and extended rom is T-Mobile.
Do you know any way to simply don't let the MDA vario install the extended rom?
Thank you

yes i know one! just delete the Extended ROM files wich you dont need! first install the tools that make it visible and then read in other threads wich cab data is for what! you can stop configuring the default settings and installing the T-Mobile progs by softresetting after Hardreseting when appears a window "configuring Settings in 3 sec." or so!? just soft reset and then install the requiered .cab files of the Extended ROM you wish to have installed! But better read through the other threads if you need detailed informatoins how to do this!! (the thread is hmmm I think Extended ROM or so)

It depends on your ROM. Most of them except New T-mobile ROM can use extROM unlocker. For T-Mobile ROM you need to backup ext. ROM which you prefer first. After flash new ROM(T-Mobile) , you need to restore it. Please serch in this forum for wizard ROM backup/restore and unlock/lock Ext. ROm. Good luck

CE and Radio ROM update only, no extended ROM, how please?

I want to keep all the O2 stuffs intact, is it possible to update only the CE and Radio ROM but not the extended ROM? I know the procedures I think, and I just need to delete ms_.nbf before running BaUpgradeUt? Will my O2 extended ROM stays intact this way?
How much better is 1.06.2 Radio ROM better than 1.02? Is it worth the update?
And after the update, I should just restore DATA but not full restore right?? Also, do I have to disable ActiveSyn before the update? If so, how?
Sorry about so many questions
Think ur ext rom will be blank this way
CL55
My answer to your question would be
Unhide the extened rom as is
unlock extenedrom as is now
make a copy of it as in on your desktop
do the normal upgrade
unlock/unhide the new extended rom
delete the content
copy from the destop your old extenedrom
lock/hide the exteneded rom again
do a cold reset.
this will boot the device, reinstall the os and radio and install the old extenedrom.
Do I think that that is a good idea, NO!! but that is what you want to do.
You need to undersatnd that some of the stuff on extened rom is for the new upgrade such as the patches.
So ... not that you asked ... I think what you want to do is swap only some of the files. but do you know which ones?
Read the bit on unllocking the Imate extenede rom
Read the bit about changing boot imaages.
Think about what you realy wont to do and have fun.
pleun, says:

but it's not true. I've done that and your Extended ROM is not deleted
so:
1. You chose the ROM you want to use it (and you use xda3nbftool.exe if the ROM comes from another operator than yours)
2. Before launching the ROM installer "BaUpgradeUt.exe", you remove the Extended ROM package which is call "ms_.nbf"
and you update your ROM normally
Only the CE ROM and Radio will be upgraded. Your Blue Angel will keep your old Extended ROM.
And remember: If the ROM you have chosen comes in a package like BA_WWE_BelDT_12200_557_10602_SHIP.exe, you can open the ifile with WinRAR to extract its contents.
Simple solutions for a simple world!

True, only Qestion I have is why did I not Know that before?
Yup its simple and it works.
Now a real qestion for you based on you own knowleage.
Is there any way to add a Romkitchen Exteneded rom to the upgrade?
We seem to have know tools for this er2003edit does not work for me on the blueangle.
I have not been able to find any way of extracting splash screens but am able to replacing then (which is great but I dont have the original splashes)
Things are not only you know, your ways are not always the best.

merging 2 roms??

is it possible to install........... an Imate rom,(or hopefully if a Wm2005 emerges from the other thread) with the o2 active so that i can have all my gprs settings and so on.... from an O2 rom???
i guess this is called cooking and i have read the cooking of roms thingy on wiki but im a dummy and i dont really get it.... lol
is this possible??
or is there an Imate version 1.40 version cooked with o2 stuff???
Hi,
You would just need to unlock & unhide your extended ROMs, throw in your O2 CABs and add the CAB directory to the config file. Hard reset and it should install automatically.
Alternatively, just extract your telco & O2 CABs and run them from inside your XDA. Perform a soft reset and it should be installed then.
Read WIKI for the instructions...

Extended ROM Woes - Vairo

I have a unlocked T-Mobile Vairo with an Orange SIM. Phone calls work fine but no GRPS as the setting are incorrect of course.
So I did the following:
1.Unlocked the Extended ROM (using "Unlock Ext Rom Wizard.cab") and can now see it with the File Explorer
2.Attempted to install the IMate cab file ("Orange_UK_Contract.CAB") for Orange Contract to the extened rom.
I had the following issues:
1. I can now see the extened rom in the filer explorer but it wont let me copy anything there saying it is write protected.
2. The Orange PAYG cab installed all looked ok and gave me the option to install to the Ext ROM, but when I look there, the cab is not there.
Am I missing a trick here, I have read through the posts and it looks like im doing the right things.
depends on your ROM. only OLD roms allow writing to extended_rom. The newer ones don't.
iv got 25 XDA Minis to "setup"
i would love to get 2.x ROM installed (for push) but i see there maybe problems when trying to modify the EXT_ROM...
is there any solutions to it yet? how could i create a Custom Ext_ROM (we have quite a bit of stuff that needs installed such as .netcf 2.0, SDF2.0, SQLCE etc) when using a 2.x rom...?
am i better just leaving the standard rom (1.5.4.2) for the moment untill an Official O2 2.x rom comes out?
tia.

Just Get Wizard, and have some questions

Hi there!
I've just get a Wizard, and it has a GER ROM. I'm qiute bad at german, (and english too) so I want to upgrade it to a WWE ROM. My question is, what is the most clean, and fastest ROM, and where can I download it? I think there must be a step by step for newbies, but where is it? (post link please),
If I upgrade my rom, will the slide-keyborad changes from QWERTZ to QWERTY? (Letter Z changes to Y?)
Where can I found additional reg tweaks, and modification (such as overclocking) to speed up my Wizard? Which of them is the most useful?
Sorry for the many quetions. Now you should ask "Why don't you use the Search button above?", sorry but I'm too excited about upgrading to WWE, but after I've done with that, I'll use it.....Sooory
Cheers,
Hi, you need to upgrade to aku2 imate rom.
download this http://www.clubimate.com/support/KJAM/ROM/K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship.zip
unzip it
and then activesync your phone to the pc and run above exe.
(no need to unlock your phone as it is an imate rom)
Yes the keyboard will probably change but can be changed for your language use registry wizard see here and download version r and install
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39725
dont forget you also need to install this OpenNETCF.SDF.wce4.armv4.cab http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=9341
to get registry wizard to run. (reg wizard has the other tweaks you wanted)
For overclocking see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40284
Thanks for the help. I've upgarded my Wizard with Summiter's rom, but my WiFi couldn't get work. so I'll try the iMate ROM ASAP.
Other questions about phone:
When I get it out of the box, it has a T-mobile ROM on it, and it has the ability to dispaly cell information.( about which town you are in), now my new ROM hasn't got this feature. Was it a Cab customization, or just an option in the WM5.0?
There is a thread here about cell info and a program you can try. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=46803
Also you can get cell info from gsmtestmode.exe in \windows on the device and make a link to it.

Operator ROM without operator customization?

Hello Guys,
is it possible to flash the wizard (g3) with an original shipped rom (e.g. http://www.t-mobile.de/downloads/t-mobile/ruu_vario_aku3.3_3822_382120_026911_tmo_de_ger_ship.zip )
and then deleting the extRom that you don´t have an operater customized Windows Mobile (after hard reset, of course)?
I think the original ROM from the operator could be relativly stable but I hate these custom themes etc.
Thank you for your help!
You could just soft-reset your wizard when the customization countdown starts...

After doing what LGSilva said you can use WST to format the extended ROM and make it clean. Then, even after a hard-reset there would be no customisations
