I have an MDA Vario with the Dutch T-Mobile rom , and I want to change that to the Dutch Qtek rom .
Does the performance improve when I change and are there extra features on the Qtek rom ?
Can anyone give me the pro's and con's of such an upgrade ?

... no problems at all... my friends has a Vario and change the OS to Qtek..after the update he also updated the radio rom seperate to 1.12.10 i want to flash tomorrow seperate the radio rom to 1.13.10

Got the QTek NL ROM 1.3.7.10 as well. Works great! Also got the Qtek Radio 1.13.0 flashed seperatley.

1.3.7.10 is dutch, Radio Rom is i think portugese but that doesn't matter for the Qtek.
The English WWE ROM i think 1.6.7.0 is the fastest

Tried to install the Qtek ROM, but it said something about the Vendour (don't know if I spelled it correct) wich is T-mobile in my case, and offcourse it needs to be Qtek. Is there anyway to solve this problem?

You need to 'CID unlock' the device first. Look around on this forum. There is enough info to find about flashing your device
Why not working with my device?! It crashes when syncing..
My Vario is slow and crashes too many times (TTWM5), many times it can't read my SD unless I reset the device; so I wanted to upgrade my rom.
But....: I got a real problem when I want to update my dutch MDA Vario....
The ppc is set to basic, factory. I can connect to my PC('s) with my cable. But.... when I start the dutch OR the english update the device crashes after a while. Then connection goes down and 4 big stripes appear to the device-screen. The updateprog on the pc gives an error and the prog closes. I run 2000NT (on both pc's). Who has me the answer? btw: I did already succesfully unlock the device. Fortunately I can soft-reset it without probs.

Im guessing the "_ship" part means thats what was shipped with the device.
Most of the available ROMs on the ftp contains the _ship. So i do not believe that it is the original ROM.
But users of the wizards could easily compare it. So this posting was just informatial......

I have downloaded this ship rom and ran the installer to confirm the version. I got a really strange result that maybe others can tell me what they mean.
On the final confirmation screen before starting the rom update process it states that it is upgrading to model id of Prodigy with Image version 09.
What the heck is this, a beta pre-ship release maybe? The attached image clearly shows a picture of the wizard device so i'm wondering what imate are doing.
Needless to say, there's no way i was going to press next and actually install it as i wouldn't want to risk ending up with a 2 day old paperweight :wink:

Sure. You can use K-Jam or QTek9100 rom on Dopod 838.
Unlocked it first. Backup your original rom with "r2sd all" command.
And try to upgrade with K-Jam or Qtek9100 rom.

yes the test rom does have the three bar meter, but it also has A2DP, which the official release does not.
it's possible downgrading from this rom to an older one? 'cos i've read that some people had problems with that
now i'm running 1.3.7.5 spanish, and i want to try the newest one but first i want to ensure that it's gonna be possible getting back

I've tried downgrading without success.I asked several times for help but no reply.I advise you to wait for the official release rom from Qtek or you will mess up your device like i did to mine.

juse use awizard 1.3 and you will be able to downgrade/ upgrade to any rom you want

Ximenin,honestly it is not my intention to scare you,but listen since I upgraded to this new rom my device reboots constantly,freezes and so on.
Maybe pilpel can help describe exactly how to downgrade using version 1.3 cause I've tried it without any luck.I just want to spare you the pain and anger I'm going through now.

it loads web pages twice as fast on wifi and also something i found out is when pages load they all fit the screen now. this is a great rom update i think the best so far!!!!

Ok, but what's the OS version and build number? You can see it by clicking Start->Settings->System->About
It should say something like "OS 5.1.195 (Build xxxxx.x.x.x)"

I had early the Orange rom but that was a really slow one. This version of Qtek is a lot faster and now i am rid of the orange garbage on my phone...
The battery must go longer on with the new rom and more flexible turn on/off the Bluetooth and Wifi.
Also the Sync with 'activesync' is more stable and no more errors... with connecting.

This is the same OS Version as 2.17.7.2.
Therefore, I don't think it's really different, exept QTEK "brandings"

It's exactly the same as the others you've tried, so I don't know how it is faster.
This ROM is exactly like the other AKU2 ROMs except for the default language setting and the carrier settings.

I already flashed my MDA Vario with this new ROM.
I flashed it the very first day it came out (the 25th of March if I remembered it correct). New look, or actually just an extra Qtek theme, don't know for sure because I just had the PDA for a few days and didn't look That good to the old firmware
But I do noticed that this one works faster then the old one, especially with some of the reg_tweaks on this forum.
this dutch rom 218 does have the same build # 14847.2.0.0 as the 217 that came out a week ago but i can tell you that it does move faster.It may have something to do with the ext.rom. I installed both an as soon as this one was loaded on my ppc without setting anything on it i went straight to wifi turned it on and connected without any delay and type in an address an the page was loaded within 3 seconds. AS FOR ME IF SOME ONE CAN LOAD ENGLISH ONTO THIS ROM THIS IS THE ONE I WILL STAY WITH TILL I FIND OUT FOR MYSELF A NEW ONE IS BETTER.
I dont use gprs or push so i cant say anthing about that. wifi and usb is great and i did see bluetooth stereo!!!! (I dont have a headset yet )
P.S for those of you who really dont think its much faster all i can say is see for youself and i hope it works as well for you as it has for me. To this point nothing wrong at all other than it needs english. Can someone please hook us up???

I think you'd just have to replace the OS... plus of course do all the language tweaks, get the english Sym file, etc. if you really want it to be in English, and not some gruesome Dunglish or Englitch

The day has been over and i am very glad with the new ROM!
A couple of friends of mine updated also their Qtek 9100 All with success and all of them are saying 'it is faster than the old one'

It is running windows mobile 5.0 NL version. I see that there is a NL and an ENG version in this post. Can I just install the ENG version on my phone with out any problems? Does that mean that Windows mobile will be in English after updating the firmware (which is what I would like)? Do I have to change any settings to be able to use the TMobile network or is that all stored on my SIM card?

I posted the NEW Russian 2.18 test rom last night. This morning when I check myqtek.com, that test rom has been pulled off their server. It's in the upload folder.
Some please check that test rom out and see if a2dp is on there.

Ianman you need to CID unlock your phone before you can install it. However, I'll just note you may find the lokiwiz doesn't CID unlock if you have a relatively new handset, there's an issue in the later HTC units (see lokiwiz thread)
I dont see the English ROM?

i was looking for the english ROM for the T MOBILE VArio and could not find it. Is this the same as having an english operating system? My mobile is in German and i find it very tough to naviagte around and hence wondering if you guys have seen an English operating system or a plug in that converts the existing into an english system?
hello where do i get the latest radio rom from. i think i have R1.16 at the moment. But i've upgrade to windows mobile six and since then my msn stopped working and my email won't work. So where do i get rom upgrades from and how do i fix these problems?

1.46.30.11, 1.46.00.11 this two i tried and works very well with WM5
edit: got back to WM5 again cant find the perfect 6 for me. And i use the 1.46.30.11 radio with my original WM5

I can't find the perfect WM6 for me either - but I'd take any of the current offering over WM5!!!

OK - that's a valid reason! (about the only one there is )
if i ever were unfortunate enough to get a pda in my native language i would go though fire to get it turned english most reason tend to be lost in translation and most programs one install are in english anyway so better to get 1 language then sad mix

Listen - there must be at least 5 threads dedicated to Radio ROMs in this forum. Use this http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all to search for Trinity Radio and you will find.
I am aware of versions 1.38 1.41 1.46 and 1.50 - and it's all in English -
Keep the google link to hand - you'll find the answers to nearly everything by going down that road!

There is no indiaction of how large the file is, the transfer rate is 11.6kb/Sec????
EDIT-Its nearly 6.5 MB, @11.6KbS.....i very nearly swore!!! LOL
