New ROM on FTP (logout 5.4.03) Now V5.4.05.HN - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

It seems logout has updated his WM5 ROM.
This is based on TuMa 1.4 but with the pre-installed applications removed to speed things up a bit.
I've no idea what's changed since 5.4.01 as there's no readme/changelog and don't have time to test it right now.

hi have download and tried this rom, but stop im middel off upgrating on my BA stop over 40%
wait for more info..

I upgraded successfully to this ROM just now. I was using the old Logout rom, so I hope this is a bug fixing update.
Will post feedback when I test it out.

Hi logout,
I have to say you nailed this version nicely. fastest ROM ever.
good work dude. keep it up. thanks you.
imatrix

Agreed. This is a really fast ROM.
Congratulations Logout, you just won the speed crown that used to be held by Ivan v4R2.1.
One bug I've spotted with the inbuilt taskmanager - don't use the "cpu usage" option in the menus. It hardlocks the Today screen, only a reboot returns things to normal. This is not a fault of the ROM though, and I'm otherwise really pleased with this new taskmanager, waaay more detail.

When I use Logout previous version 5.4.01HN, i tryin to use my XDa2s as a USB modem, when i choose wireless modem in program and change connection type from serial to USB like the documentation from wiki, and click start, but its shows error and I cant use my XDA2s as USB modem.
And can you teach me how to connetc internet using incoming and outgoing port on blootoh ini your newest ROM.
Thanks Mr. Logout you the best.

I am testing this ROM and, as the latest one, is really fast. The only problem I've found by now is that the phone suddenly after a soft reset refuses to start. Clicking on the antenna icon shows it is "Out of service", and there is no way to make it work again but hard-resetting the device (losing everything in the process, of course).
Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Can anybody help here?
Anyway, thanks for your work Logout.

thanks a lot
let's enjoy and debug it!!!

Great So Far!
Well, so far:
* excellent speed
* the voice speed dial works great with my Jabra 250 BT, HOWEVER it seems when I'm in a call only the audio out works on the hands free, you have to put your mouth next to the phone mic to have any chance at the conversation. Further testing pending
* active sync worked flawlessly
* Bluetooth still does not remain on during standby :-( ... the never ending curse continues!
that's all the testing I have for now, will try some more, but so far so good!

Thanks... logout ... i love u rom... Great job!
Thanks for Sharing

hi, all
i have reflash by ba an d now everything is ok..
just like to say that the speed is fantastic on this rom... thanks
and seens to be very stable.. i will continue test and report if i find a issue.
thanks again.

great ROM, but, after soft reset, it looses the time and settings(various registry changes i make like registering resco explorer and some other apps). WMP10 behaves a little odd in beginning of any song.
But, as said above, the ROM is indeed stable and works like a charm irrespective of the bugs mentioned above
kudos to LOGOUT

Task manager I extract from Hima 2.03, maybe CPU USAGE work in BA not well. Download new version & copy to windows\
If use backup built-in to restore data, after restore don't press OK to reboot immediately - wait a few minute to update registry then reboot.

A couple of things that I have noticed...
First of all.. Well done... The Rom seems to be very stgable, and damn fast!
OK.. a couple of bugs... (well.. maybe just me being an idiot!)
First.. I love the way that you have set the Ext_Rom to automatically install.. however.. why have you included the rst command in the config file?? would it not be easier to leave it out, and then power off and soft reset manually?
Second.. MS BT Stack & Wireless Modem.. Works great, about 85% of the time, and then reconnects saying PPP link protocol not connected in Windows.. hmm.. a quick radio reset and then it works again. It even connects WITHOUT the Wireless modem software!! (However, you need a soft reset or to activate flight mode to switch the phone back on!
SPB pocket Plus works fine,
The camera driver seems to work better than other versions i have seen, however i cant play back files that i have previousely recorded. They just show a series of still images!!
I installed a few games and stuff as well.. BTW Netfront 3 didnt work for me!
Keep up the good work!

Soryy, I found another bugs when i tryin WIFI in my class today. When I turn off, it on again, and again.

WiFi
Hi Logout
I installed your new version and started with testing. It's fast (exept PIE, but nothing new) und seems stable.
On my device, I got several problems with wireless:
Cradle-Issiue:
When my device is connected (and running) to the pc and I plug out the usb-cable, wifi won't work. Wireless is connected to my access-point, but no traffic, when trying surfin or sending/receiving.
When I power off the BA and then plug out the cable, wifi will work after powered on the BA. I use these also to prevent a soft-reset when I forgot to power off before unpluging.
Allways resuming:
When the device is powered off, while wifi was enabled, wifi will restart automaticly after power on. When wifi is disabled, it will also be restarted after the next power on.
The work-around for this: Set the "ResetOnResume" (HKLM\comm\tiacxwln1\Parms) Value to 1. For me its working.
Does anybody know, if the new ms-pushmail-service could be added on a BA?
Thanks for your work
Chris

hi logout..
afther of 1 day off testing, the ongly issues i found is the wifi, afther i put im on, it stays on... . i will trie the solucion off chrischi.
and afther i take out the BA of cradel, i need to close activesync, becouse if i dont do this, afther i clic on power button, he after 1 minute, resumes im self on.
but is very stable, on morning i dont close activesysnc and put my BA on pocket. afther a few minutes i take im and a lot off programs if on i ongly need to close everything and put im again on pocket
i ongly made a soft-reset becouse off wifi..
thanks

Great rom Logout!
I it the fastest ported version, but has some bugs. When you enable speakerphone in phone mode the notification for it stays even after you ended call. I had some problems that i can not enable bluetooth and wifi , then softreset fixed this bug temporary

Crash
After trying to activate or deactivate wireless, my Qtek freezed. I had to softreset the BA:
The phone can't be activated. Also "no service" indicated, when clicking the antenna-icon - the same as bolopez wrote.
Also the Calendar, Contacts & Tasks can't be started (I synched them with the exchange-server). ActiveSync appearing, but not working.
Perhaps the problems could also be caused by activesync. When uncraddling the BA, it allways showed the icon with the two arrows in titelbar like in the state of connected with the pc.

Bugs In O2 Rom 'Upgrade' v1.31.139

Hi
I have been playing with this for a day now, and it has introduced more bugs in the wifi functionality. If you want to use WiFi from your IIs then I would avoid this 'update' like the plauge.
What you get:
- ROM: 1.31.00 WWE (13th Dec 04) so this is 2.5 months old
- Radio 1.06.00 (1.06.02 is latest)
- ExtRom: 1.31.139 WWE (no real updates to existing progs)
Whats Better
---------------
- The camera performs better in low light conditions (I used to get vertical lines on the screen
- Bluetooth stack build 3500. A vast improvement, but the latest is now build 3900 which some say solves the 'scratching noise' that is heard in some headsets
Whats Worse/Not Fixed
---------------------------
- O2 Active V3.5. Its bloody awful - spends its life redrawing the screen, its very sluggish, and adds nothing to the today screen. I never used to use the old version, but having the O2 icon was handy for its ability to list the active connections and terminate them. Much is made of the ability to change the position of the icon (which I never found to be a problem in the first place. Tapping the new icon starts O2 Active rather than listing the active connections. To list active connections, you need to tap and hold for 5 seconds. I find that after tapping and holding, I get the menu, but that the menu then fails to respond to my 'close connection' taps. I reverted back to the old O2 active program.
- WiFi. They have completely buggered it up. It was unreliable at best beforehand. I have a network at home, which I finally pursuaded the device to connect to after multiple resets. I headed into work this morning (2 AP's) switched it on, and it just sat there searching for the network. I went into Tools-->Network cards, and see the work network listed as 'connected' (it was not connected, I had not given it the PSK yet). I soft reset the device, and it finally saw the network and prompted with the usual 'Internet/Work' dialogue. I was then asked for the pass key. At this point I noticed that there is no longer a possibility to activate the soft keyboard in order to enter the pass key (A right pain in the arse when the passkey is just a random multicase/numeric key, and all you get are ** on the dialogue). Anyway, I entered the key, and the device refused to get a valid IP address. Doing IPconfig showed that the wireless card was trying to use an old GPRS IP!!! I tried a renew (3rd party ipconfig tool). I tried stopping and starting wifi. Eventually, I soft reset (still the same), so I stopped wifi, soft reset, started wifi - and *finally* it decided to go and get itsself an IP address. (this is a bug I saw in the old firmware, but its worse than it used to be).
- WiFi still marks the wrong networks as 'available', i.e at work, 10 miles from home, my home network is marked as 'available' and my work network is marked as 'unavailable' !!! (this is an old bug)
- In Network adapters, the dialogue, 'My Work Network Connects To:' is blank, and there is no longer a possibility to select work/internet (options are blank). This is new to v1.31.139 (anyone else also missing this)
- If you select a wifi connection and change it from being a 'work' connection to an 'internet' connection then the change does not stick. This is new to v1.31.139
- In the MMS applet, it is no longer possible to select a 'modem' directly. I used to be able to select 'O2 Active'. You now have to select a profile that includes an appropriate modem. This is new to v1.31.139
- When editing a network profile in 'network management' eg: My ISP. the device still forgets to display existing modem/vpn connections. (same as old version).
Out Of Date Software / missing software
-----------------------------------------------
- Photo Contacts (CallerId cab) is still version 1.17 (latest is 1.20)
- Missing O2 plus - other o2 devices include this
- Missing Intelipad
- Missing Smartdialer
- Old build of Java Midlet software
- Old build of MMS composer software
Other Thoughts
------------------
For my money, the device feels more sluggish than it did before. Though its difficult to prove this!
O2 has spent far too much time on that O2 Active rubbish - does *anyone* actually use this [email protected]?? - and not enough time integrating/testing the latest versions of CE, drivers, and third party apps.
I'll add more to this as I find new bugs, and send it all off to O2 in a couple of weeks.
What I am now using
------------------------
I am now using v1.31.139 + Bluetooth build 3900 + PhotoContacts 1.20 + Java build 1004.
----------------------------
Additions: 1/3/05
- SMS notify no longer seems to work. Anyone else suffer from this? MMS notify works fine and SMS notify is switched on. Perhaps the notify event is missing, but I have no idea how to sort this.
- VPN over wireless lan is still not possible - it tries and fails to connect. VPN over GPRS still works OK.
Additions 02/03/05
- SMS Notify problem is *not* to do with the rom update. I removed the registry key: HKLM\software\microsoft\inbox\svc\outlook since I had no need for the outlook folder in inbox. Removing this also kills off SMS notify!! I backed up, hard reset, preventing the stuff in the extended rom from installing. Installed PHM regedit, exported the outlook key, restored my backup and imported the reg key!!
- Internet/Work settings missing from Wlan setup. After restoring the backup, these had returned. Pretty strange, perhaps they were linked to the same registry key. No additional software bar the contents of the extended rom had been installed. If anyone else gets this, I suggest back, hard reset, restore might fix it.
Regards
Nigel
I have the same version with the latest radio build and cannot got the device to connect to my home Wifi what so ever.
Not exactly much use. It detects the network but refuses to connect. Either it says its connected but does not get an IP or it continously prompts for the network key.
I have also upgraded and am finding that the device often freezes when I try and switch it off, this happens about once or twice a day needing a soft reset.
I dont use the active stuff (which I never use) and am dissapointed that the O2 icon now starts O2 active rather than list the state of connections and allow you to trun them off i.e GPRS.
I agree the device does seem to be slower, I think I will be going back to the original code base and applying the BT patches, anyone know where there is a CAB installer for 3900?
check the ftp server
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/CAB_Files/Bluetooth Upgrades/
username xda
password xda
its the file that ends in 3900.
I installed 3900 over the recent O2 update (3500) and all went fine. Just do a soft reset before playing with bluetooth or it will moan about an expired stack.
Nigel
SMS Notify
Hi
Anyone else found that the SMS notify stops working once the latest O2 update is installed. MMS notify works, but SMS does not - its damned anoying!
UPDATE: Found the reason for this see end of original post
Nigel
Thanks for the comments on the update. I think I will stay with the original 1.12 ROM! Where can you get the other updates for the Camera and Java and Bluetooth etc? I'm currently running Bluetooth 3500.
Cheers
This is why you should sell you XDA IIs on ebay and buy a XDA IIi
Well that IS a concept! Thanks made me grin!
Hi since I installed the new Rom, my clock keep on freezing. The phone goes on standby > then it freeze. If I wake up the phone , it will still be frozen.
I have to click on start > Today in order to refresh it.
Any ideas ? It's still happening with no other today pluggin. :x
Would you recommend we dont bother upgrading the ROM atm then?
I upgraded also - the process was simple and took around 10 mins. This made my Bluetooth much more reliable and over a greater distance. I also find the 2s locks up frequently and requires soft resets.
Does anybody know how to remove the entire o2 software - I dont know anybody that uses it and Im sure it would speed up the whole device.
Remove entire O2 software:
You mean everything in the extended rom or just o2 active?
Hard reset, and when the message pops up about installing blah in 3 seconds (after you have done the touchscreen config) then soft reset. This gets you a plain vanilla HTC Blue Angel before the operator has installed its sh1te on it.
You can then selectively install just the bits you want, download the extended rom from the ftp site here, or unlock yr extended rom, copy out the cabs to main memory/SD etc, and then tap just the ones you want to install them.
If you just want rid of o2 active, then hard reset, and wait until the corporate/personal? message appears and then soft reset. O2 active is the last thing to be installed.
Nigel
mhanbury:
Hunt them down on the FTP site. Compare the version/build numbers with those in the new O2 extended rom.

Hard-reset your xda.
When the Personal/Corporate screen comes up, select corporate and enter 0506 - zero five zero six
This won't install active.
I'm getting a new XDAIIs (my 3rd one) , I will stay away from the new update and just put the bluetooth/ radio and contact manager manually.
That new update is just a piece of [email protected]

If you buy a new XDAIIs in the UK now you will get it with :
ROM Version: 1.31.00 WWE
ROM date: 12/13/04
Radio Version: 1.06.00
Protocol Version: 1337.38
ExtROM Version: 1.31.139 WWE
Ive had mine for 2 days now and ive had to soft reset about 6 times! and Hard reset once!
and this is annoying the hell out of me! can anyone tell me what im doing wrong. Why is it that whenever I do a hard reset I have to change the name of my activesync folder? If I try to keep them the same, it says I cant because there is already a device with that name!?!? Or am I just being a noob?

This is really wierd. My IIs works fine - doesn't lock up, doesn't need hard resets or anything so drastic. I don't have any other apps on the device though, just the standard one's O2 supplies (GPRS Monitor etc).
What other apps are people running? I'm guessing Today screen plugins are causing grief (Pocket+ etc)
yeah I did tried my phone with no today plug in but it is still crap, was working just fine with the previous rom......... what have I done :x
At least it keeps me busy....
The problem is you should have bought a XDA IIi not a XDA IIs.

A stable configuration

Hello everyone,
I would like to start this new thread with a different purpose than trying to explorer the latest and gratest of releases of ROMs, extensions, software and patches.
I have tested many of the releases posted here and I have yet to find one that offer a rock solid unit that can be depended on in all situations.
What I would like is to put together a package based on the best of all available that offer the highest reliability available for our device.
It's very annoying to have to reset the device, somtimes more than one time in one day because you loose GPRS connectivety or because you turn on the WiFi card at an unlucky moment and lock up the device.
It's very annoying that you press the answer button repeatedly but have trouble picking up the rining phone.
It's very annoying that you try to make a call, but the phone keeps hanging up without making the call until you reset the phone subsystem.
It's very annoying that you pick up the device to make a call only to find that for some reason the phone has been locked up for hours with the screen on and now you are out of power and far away from your charger.
It's very annoying that your screen gets garbled and you find that you are unable to get the display back to normal without resetting the device.
It's very annoying that bluetooth more or less have turned out to be a marketing item only, since we have yet to se an implementation on the device that works (and maybe we never will)
If you agree with me or/and have experienced some or probably all of the above and have some input you would like to share on what is the best release, or have software and patched that have made a difference to you, then please contribute and maybe we could one day have a reliable operating system and software pack on our PDA that we can actually trust to handle the important task of keeping us connected to the rest of the information based world 24/7.
I hope many people will participate in this thread and that we can get to a release of software that we can all feel happy about, since it seems that none of the providers have been able to accomplish this task.
Michael
Fully agreed with you. And here is my BA config:
- MDA III with 1 Gb SD (Trandcent 80x)
- ROM 1.40 & radio 1.12
- Big storage - No Extended ROM
- Excluded nearly all software from WWE 1.40 ExtROM. Install only patched
Most apps are installed to storage
- Pocket Informant 2005 (In main memory)
- Pocket breeze 5 (In main memory)
- Pocket Player 2.6
- Sound Explorer 2005
- Pocket Navigator 2.74
- Sprite backup 3.1.4
- Mobile Pocket reader 5.0
- Total Commander 2.0
- Adobe Acrobat Reader 2.0 for PPC
- Tools: Cab Installer, vxUtils, Tascal Reg. Editor TRE 0.9, calculator, stop time ...
Full backup with Sprite backup 3.1.4, excutable archive file so that I can restore to a fully loaded system righ after hard reset. The backup is also in storage.
With this config the phone is very stable. On average 1 soft reset/week, mostly due to phone problem (I work in a building with very week GSM signal).
here here!
while ive not bothered to update for exactly one year now, i truely couldn't be bothered with the rom backup, new rom, install settings, settings restore, all to find out that... oh others are still having a problem with phones hanging/not connecting, because you used bluetooth and didn't reset before using gprs. of course, silly me!
right now i'm looking for a stable basic setup, with Tomtom 5 (bt gps mouse) and gprs useage... and possibly, using them together!
it does seem experimenting is only way to do so...
What a good idea - however, after one year of updating ROMs I do not think that there is a stable system for this device after all ...
I cannot use my Qtek for business because
- I am not sure whether I will miss a call because my Qtek somehow decides not to ring
- I am never sure whether I can finish a call decently (or the devices shuts down on its own)
And I am tired of resetting the device before and after
- using WLAN
- using BT
Currently, I am on
ROM 1.42.01 GER
Radio 1.12.00
ExtROM 1.42.116 GER
which still has all the flaws mentioned above.
This is the 4th different ROM I have installed (WWE, GER). I mainly use it for storing contact info and meetings.
A
I still wan't to try.
I'm using a configuration of 1.40 and 1.12. This is OK, but the phone app is still quite unstable and the device itself will hang. Most trouble seems to be when you press a key at an unlucky split second when the unit is trying to do something else, this often leads to lockups.
Does anyone have any input regarding the version numbers to use? Especially is 1.42 or 1.31 better than 1.40? and is 1.12 better than 1.13 or vice versa?
What about patches and registry hacks, what do you consider being a vital patch or hack to improva stability dramatically ... ? If any.
I hope to get some input from you guys that install every single thing and have gained allot of input on what works and what doesn't?
Michael
This combination seems to be vert stable for Scandinavians
I have had very good results so far with this combination:
BA_DT_WWE_NorwayRetail_14000_149_11200_Ship.exe
Then install:
86794-9090_radio_upgrade_1.15.00.zip
This is so far the bes experience I have had while I had the device.
Michael
Update
After a while, I have observed that I'm still having the GPRS connect problem and I have therefore installed the:
IA_CallerID_1.20_WWE.CAB
I will update my experience in a while. So far I like this combination, except that GPRS cinnection problem. I haven't had many other problems. There has been a little "flutter" around Blue Tooth and TomTom, If you try to start TomTom with BT disabled, you sometimes seem to grid lock until you re-boot.
Extended ROMs
Is it my imagination? The higher the extended ROM version the less stabillity? It seems to me that way. The more stuff they add, the less overall stability you get. Does anyone have a different experience?

i find that when upgrading to the new WM5 roms, that all my files, programs and settings, even contacts and messages are all still as i left them, i just put the device into bootloader and plonk into the cradle, then start upgrade 2 mins later its done, all new features and nothing that is usually backed up is changed.
The best stabillity so far
I'm still running with the configuration outlined in my previous posts. And it's pretty stable, the only problems I seem to be affected by are:
After 1 to 7 days the GPRS connection fails and I have to reset the device to get it working.
Rarely some applications and the phone gets in a bind somehow, probably by starting at the same time in an incompatible way and lock up the phone. I have to reboot the device to get out of that.
The phone part itself seems to be stable and I have no missing sound or low volume issues.
I had good bluetooth functionality, but since paring my device with my GPS I can't get the device to connect correctly to my headset. I will pair up and then when it tries to connect it fails. I'm unsure what that's about. I don't use the bluetooth headset much, so I haven't been bothered much by this, but I would ofcourse prefer if everything was working as you would expect it to!
I would upgrade my base ROM to 1.42, but my testing and experiences with that have been that it's more unstable than 1.40.
I'm even more convinced now that I'm right about the extended ROM thing, the higher the version of extended ROM to more problems (potential problems).
Any input on stability are very welcome, I would love to find a near perfect configuration where most things work 100% and all the time.

WM05 + MS Bluetooth + headset : SOLVED!

I have spent every nights of the last month to find a solution to the bluetooth problem (it turns off when the device turns on, so the headset is unusable) and.... I GOT IT!
This is a test version. I publish it so I can receive some feedbacks. If these will be positive, I'll release a definitive version.
How to install:
Copy the new bthuart.dll in a temporary location (where you want, but NOT in Windows)
Turn off the bluetooth
Remove the device from cradle
Make a soft reset
Move/copy the new bthuart.dll in the “\WINDOWS” directory overwriting the original
Turn on the bluetooth
Connect the headset
Enjoy!
NOTE: if you receive a message that is not possible to overwrite the file, try to repeat the steps above again.
Try to turn off and on the device as many times you want, the headset must stay connected.
There's a drawback with this solution:
When the bluetooth is on, the device turns on after a random time. Now that the BT is always on, the device resumes many times in a day. To prevent an excessive battery consumption, modify the options to turn off the backlight and the power as soon as possible. Consider to lock the device when not used with the “Device lock” today's plugin.
I have tested it with TuMa 1.3, but should work with every WM05 version.
If anyone is interested in technical details, let me know and I'll post a detailed description here (or would be better a Wiki page?)
[EDIT 2006/06/02] Scroll down in this page and download the CAB made by Tuatara.
I guess I'll be the first to try. I'll let you know how it does. Also can you post more tech info about what you found and how you went and changed?

BT Finally fixed - See new post
Firstly we have to be clear on turning off blue tooth. You need the red line through the icon so after a soft reset the blue tooth does not turn back on.
Secondly I found no matter what I tried, I could not overwrite the DLL on the unit itself. However, After turning off the BT properly as described above and resetting the PDA, I was able to copy the new version over the top of the old one by exploring the device from explorer in active sync while in the cradle. And yes it does actually appear to work! The blue tooth no longer turns off.
I am also using Tuma 1.3 currently on an XDA iis. It would be great if Tuatara could encorporate this file into 1.5 due out soon.
I will place a copy of this post with a copy of the file in the 1.3 forum. I hope you don't mind.
Regards,
Simon

However, After turning off the BT properly as described above and resetting the PDA, I was able to copy the new version over the top of the old one by exploring the device from explorer in active sync while in the cradle. And yes it does actually appear to work! The blue tooth no longer turns off.
I am also using Tuma 1.3 currently on an XDA iis. It would be great if Tuatara could encorporate this file into 1.5 due out soon.
I will place a copy of this post with a copy of the file in the 1.3 forum. I hope you don't mind.
Regards,
Simon

BigMike has been working on this for WEEKS now, and has been communicating with me about this. In truth I was actually hoping to have v1.5 done, so that BigMike could incorporate it into v1.5, and all of his hard work would be the HIGHLIGHT of the ROM release!
BigMike deserves ALL the credit for this!
And absolutely ... it will be in TuMa v1.5! I'll also be working on the power management related issues - to keep the power drain in the device as low as possible. This may mean little 'tweaks' like the backlight might take a moment to come on when the unit rings, or other 'small' details, but I'll see what can be done and let you know the results.
I'll be testing this as well tonight!
I haven't had a chance to test this, but here's a CAB file installer which should avoid the issues of stopping/locking/copying the file. It may ask you to reboot your device to complete the copy instead.
Let me know if this works! Again, all kudos to bigmike for this!!!
Italians do it better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  (i'm italian so i'm joking)
Great Bigmike finally my BA it's the best choice......
I'm really happy now. Really thanks to everybody...... that works for our BA..... really really thanks.
thanks a lot, let me try it with tuma1.4
I installed the cab posted by Tuatara and it works fine. Using v1.3. Thanks bigmike and Tuatara.
Grazie
Grandissimo!!!
Thanks a lot!
Hi,
congratulations to BigMike and all developers here!!!!
I just don't konw how is it about other ROMs? I have Ivans v4 r2.1 and I don't know how is BT made in this ROM - is it same as TuMa? Is this patch usable for Ivans ROM?
Maybe stupid question but I really don't know
Thank you, Martin
ps: what about TuMa 1.5??? Will it be as fast as Ivan's? Sorry for that question - I did not try any TuMa ROM - I just read somewhere here, that Ivan's ROM is faster.. I did not try it..
Will it be easy to "upgrade" to TuMa 1.5 from Ivan's?
Also working on TuMa 1.4. Thanks!!
now if I could just get sddialer to actually launch when I press BT headset button =(. the phone app starts instead, even though reg path points to sddialer.exe

It's only usable on the Microsoft Stack based ROM from Ivan (the older ones I believe, and on the Original mamaich BA which Ivan's is based on), NOT on the newer ROMs which have the Widcomm stack. Installing the CAB file on that ROM will have no effect. It should also be entirely usable on ANY TuMa version from 1.0 to 1.4 without issue.

TuMa v1.4 is as fast (probably faster in the long run, since it won't suffer from slowdown with continued use). This same performance will be applied to TuMa v1.5, although I've made the filesystem more robust, since there have been a few cases of lost data with v1.4's speed tweaks.
Speed is NOT the primary concern of the TuMa v1.5 ROM ... for this and all previous ROMs (barring maybe v1.4), the focus has ALWAYS been on stability over performance. But I think we've got BOTH features now, and with Bigmike's BT Fix, we're going to be getting close to that 'PERFECT ROM'.
Again ... 3 cheers for Bigmike!
THANK YOU BIGMIKE! One of the biggest issues is solved....... (now tle laggy hw keyboard remains )
I just want to say thanks to bigmike for hes good job
Fantastic job ... works a treat on TuMa 1.3. As an added bonus, it seems to have cured my battery draining problem as well?! Anyone else noticed this?
Worked perfect :lol:BIGMIKE THNKS

Successful WM5 Rom Upgrade Tricks to share

Most of you would have upgraded successfully from WM 2003 rom to various WM5 rom. For me, I started using Helmi's 1.30 rom, 1.32 rom, 1.4 and 1.4 vanilla rom, Xplode AKU 3.3 and 3.5, and just on Tuesday, tried Helmi/Logout rom (I choose to call this rom as such as pointed out by Helmi, Logout had used more than 90% of his work).
All the roms are great, but each had given me some problems, due to the fact that I have many programs installed, nothing to blame Helmi, Xplode or Helmi/Logout. All the roms when freshly installed gave me very stable results, i.e. BT and Wifi on off. From Helmi's 1.4 rom, I got to enjoy A2DP. From Xplode's rom, I got to enjoy clean basic BA WM5 rom. From Helmi/Logout rom, A2DP and stable BT and Wifi on off.
This the experience that I want to share, and I hope you will find this useful.
For all the roms so far, what I did was to hard reset, flashed the rom, test that BT and Wifi can on and off, and start installing all my other apps one after another without soft reset, unless the app asks for it. Along the way, I will find that BT and/or Wifi will not start.
With Helmi/Logout rom, I did the same as above. After a number of apps installed, I experience again either BT and/or Wifi problems. Then something hit my mind! Why don't I do a soft reset after each app installation and after that, check for BT and Wifi power on and off. Guess what, I managed to install majority of the apps to my BA and BT and Wifi still powers on without problem. Here's a list of apps I have:
1. PocketZen Phone
2. Pocket Dashboard
3. GPSGate
4. Mapking 7
5. Garmin Que
6. Spb GPRS Monitor
7. Spb Time
8. Spb backup
9. Spb Imageer
10. Resco Explorer
11. Resco Audio Recorder
12. Virtual Pool Mobile
13. Bubble Buster
14. SKTools
15. XCPUScalar
16. GB-Soft Tweak
17. Tengo Thumb
18. Bejeweled
19. Ezdial
20. Lexisgoo English Dictionary
21. psShutXP
22. Styletap Launcher
23. MS VC 1.6
I still have a number of apps that I had not installed but with 23 in and still running fine with BT and Wifi, I'm very satisfied. So I suggest to those who complain about BT and Wifi problem, or any other problem, try what I had done, i.e. do a soft reset after installation of each app and share with others your success.
Hope all of you will find this useful.
Cheers and thanks to Helmi, Xplode and Logout.
Damn, noone figured that out before, that some apps may screw the settings!! :| Gotta do some tests...
So basically we should not bother with preparing an Ext Rom with all the programes we want, and instead Install and Soft Reset each one seperately?
I'll try it next time i flash my rom, thanks!
That was a good share zard!
WiFi now misses firing up in the helmi/logout ROM when it used to be working fine, unfortunately I didn't know which program I installed when it stopped working.
Just some thoughts, if somehow bluetooth/wifi registry settings gets screwed up after prog installation without soft reset, would it help if we change registry file type from hive to file-based? Registry changes gets written immediately each time with file-based, that is what I read somewhere.
Anyway, I really wouldn't mind doing 20+ soft resets just to get that 100% WIFI/BT powering up!
Thanks again!
Fast Battery Drain Problem found
dear all
we Really appricate your post since i have found AKU 3.5,rom 5.04.10wwe
with extend rom Logout 5.04.10 by helmi.
There is Serious issue i have found,Battery Drains in actual Usages for 8hrs.
but may be some fixes may resolve this issue I hope,This rom Very much Stable as i have not checked only WIFi but other applications and third party Softwares does work fine as till now.
after insatlling standarize2.cab and powermanagementpatch_116.cab still this problem not solved for me.
There is One Extreamly diffrent behavior found back light of BA auto swithon if phone is All Keys locked mode or not ,without touching Ba the lights does shows this behavior.May some people has used this rom found this Unique problem till now.
Other problem I found With MS voice Command 1.06 doesnt work with incoming call aleart<other features works perfectly like MENU- profile- music-and etc
I Am very much statsfied with this Rom The most Successful and Stable rom i found Atlast........Thanks to Helmi
Hi Zard
Hi Zard
Thanks for your information, it is very useful.
I am also running on Helmi's / Logout's rom.
I managed to install a lot of programs without affecting BT/WIFI.
I can turn both on / off without a problem. However, I have problem with BT, I can not have two BT devices connected at the same time. When I have my BT headset connected and I try to connect to my BT GPS receiver, it will not work!!
Do you have this problem or do you have a solution for this issue? I did not have this problem on Helmi's 1.4 rom (did not try vanilla though).
Thanks again.

I don't know about what is the difference between registry file type of hive and file-based but whoever knows and can do something about it would be good. Though it was terrible to do so many resets and I guess its worth it after all.

I just tested MS VC 1.6 and the incoming call alert seems to work only when Notifications is set as 'Annouce notifications through device speaker or wired headset only'. Probably, the BT is still not perfect but still, I'm more than satisfied with the BT now since A2DP works for Media Player, Mapking 7, Garmin Que and even voice dial through Mic of BT headset and voice instructions from BT headset when you activate MS VC 1.6 through the hardware button. Voice dial won't work through BT headset if MS VC 1.6 is activated from BT headset. I'm using i-Tech Clip radio BT headset.
just yesterday, i had that same old problem of BT not turning on... after countless soft resets after either turning BT on comm manager or BT settings, it still wont turn on. wifi is ok, just the bt. so i gave up and went on my day without BT. and just now, after reading these latest posts, decided to test BT again. and it works fine again! no new app installed, nothing changed. it had also happened in the past. hmmmm got you all thinking again i wonder
how do u guys manage to install application in Helmi AKU 3.4 v1.4? Using EXE or CAB?
i just flahsed mine yesterday and when i try to install CAB...it seems that the application is NOT installed correctly..
Hi all,
can anyone let me know where i can find this rom (Helmi/Logout) and may be some installation instructions ?
Thanks in advance
Chris
have u checked thru the forum?
the link for logout rom is existed inside helmi v1.4 thread too.

I Need Help Before I Scream (GPS Error)

Hi All
I very recently purchased a Orange TyTn II from ebay and before I start to chase the seller for a refund (which might be a struugle)has anyone got any ideas how I can get the GPS working. When Tomtom, memory map or the HTC gps tool tries to access the GPS chip the right hand LED flashes every 8 secs or so but no GPS data is displayed and the software either locks up or drops out.
Also is there much Orange branding on it as this one appears to have none so I suspect it may have had a rom upgrade.
I think the version is 1.27.12.11 as that is whats displayed on the boot screen
Please Help
Go to start, settings, System Tab at the bottom and click on Device information. Tell us what you have there. Then we'll be able to tell you more. Either way I think the phone is fixable by just do a flash upgrade on it. Maybe someone else can tell you more.
Rom Version 1.1 Sleuth
Rom Date 08/28/07
Radio 1.27.12.11
Protocol 22.45.88.07h
If that helps

You've definately got a cooked Rom there - but no worries because Sleuth Roms are great (one of my favourites), and work no problem with TomTom.
I also think the radio is fine - but I think (?) I used 1.27.12.32 with Sleuth... but before you jump in and start flashing, make sure you read lots, have hardSPL and read the WIKI.
As the phone is used you may be better off doing a hard reset before going any further. Make sure you sync and back up your data first because this will be lost. Also make a note of any installed programs because you may need to dig out .cabs for these and re-install afterwards.
As for the GPS - I posted this a while back which seems to have helped a couple of others...
1. Back up all my data, emails, sms's to my PC.
2. Make sure I have all the re-install cabs ready.
3. Flash new rom (or in your case do a hard reset).
4. Wait until rom is loaded - don't configure anything yet - and hard reset again (this is reported to make the rom run faster).
5. NEVER TOUCH EXTERNAL GPS SETTINGS.
6. Configure all things built-in to the rom (like timezone, language settings, notifications etc) BEFORE connecting to the pc.
7. Connect to pc and re-sync all my outlook data.
8. Switch off kaiser then switch on again using power button (not soft reset) - this forces any registry changes to be written to registry before the reset is performed.
9. Run quickGPS.
10. I always install and set-up my GPS programs next: GpsTEST, Visual GPSCE and TomTom.
Now to set-up GPS.
11. Make sure phone is well charged.
12. Go somewhere outside with a good view of the sky, no buildings etc - preferably no clouds.
13. Run QuickGPS again if this was first run more than a couple of hours ago.
14. Start GpsTEST. This will scan your phone and automatically set up the program for the correct com port and baud rate.
14. Leave GpsTEST running, put the phone down and drink a cup of tea or two, read a book etc - keep checking the phone every 10 minutes or so. I normally get a fix within a few minutes but sometimes 30 or 60 if sight of sattellites is not too good.
15. When GpsTEST shows as running (you'll have a number in the HDOP box and green vertical bars) the GPS is now working fine.
16. Now I start my tomtom and usually find sattellites within seconds.
17. I then ALWAYS run GpsTEST or VisualGPSCE before starting my navigation program (tomtom) because it gets a fix much quicker.
Let us know if this works and I hope it helps...
Will give it a go in the morning and let you know how I get on
Thanks
stupid eBay. At least, you got a better rom though and the person above me had great advice so use it wisely before you return a great phone.
Its still not working,
Hard Reset to start a fresh, ran quick gps, then ran gpstest, it scanned the ports and when it reached Com4 it hung,I left it for a few mins and tried to close the prog, which it did but the GPS led kept flashing, no further forwards.
Help please pretty please
Flashed Rom
Now Sleuth 3.0
Now communicating with GPS
Will see if I get a fix next

Oh no!!! Now you're really in trouble... Now you can flash Roms, Your girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife/vacuum/favourite pet etc will now take second place to XDA and the flashing frenzy
Make sure the person you bought from had put HardSPL on the phone (go into bootloader and it will tell you the SPL version) - if not, flash it before you put any more roms/radios on.
Also, if you didn't upgrade your radio you'll probably need to because Sleuth 3.0 is a WM6.1 based rom. If you don't you may get camera and/or sound problems.
Anyway, glad you sorted it out
I loaded Hard Spl myself and the Radio was upgraded at the same time.
