Blue Angel & Tuma 1.3 - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hello!
First of all, I'm a newb
I've been using Tuma 1.3 for a while and suddenly, I got this message:
Storage memory is critically low. If you do not increase memory, you may not be able to start some programs. Use File Explorer to delete files you no longer need, or move some files to a storage card.
Click to collapse
That been said I did not install new apps, copied new files, etc...
Still, I tried to search for any unusual bigger file but found nothing.
Tried a hard reset but it remained the same.
So my final approach would be upgrading to a new rom/downgrading to the latest official rom.
Guess what, since then I can't seem to connect to ActiveSync, Windows still recognizes the device, ActiveSync tries to connect to device but with no success.
I've read the hole wiki, and searched the forums but found nothing.
Is there a way to do some kind of full format? Or is there a way to upgrade the rom without ActiveSync?
Any advice?
Thanks in advance, best regards.
João 'tehCORE' Milheiriço

You can format the storage by using the hard reset method...
Power Button + Reset Pin
Before ROM didgits appear on screen hold down Camera + Record buttons until options appear on screen...
Use Record button to move to Format Storage option... Use Camera button to change to yes... (You should also format the Registry Hive to get all the way back to the base ROM state)
Press the Mail button to accept...
Your screen will turn white while the format takes place then you'll boot as normal...

dude...
i love you
thank you, it worked like a charm, i owe u one

Strange...
I can use Wm5torage without problems.
Only had to reinstall the program .
settings
could anybody details used settings ?
installed on device orin storage card?
other settings ?
I tried 4 times , both destinations , eveytime I get an error popup when I try to activate.
In Hermes you need to do this before using WM5Torage:
Settings --> Connections --> USB to PC and disable "advanced USB functions"
error
I tried again , that flag was off
the error says
:Can't switch to mass storage usb driver , error if.......
any idea?
A bit strange. I clicked the submit button only once but had a double posting.
@tower5
problem seems to be related to a programm which is always checking your space on sd card or something like that. Iam using Pocket Plus to bring my device up in safe mode. so far so good.
I still have not found out which programm is always have access to sd card.
Maybe it is the system itself which always have access.
Hope this helps in any way.
WM5torage
Forgive me, what is WM5storage? Is it an extra storage space? I have just got my D810 flash, do I need to flash it again?
thks
I have the same problem too.
First time I have start wm5torage (v.173) I can browse my miniSD, but when I try to copy something it dosen't responce.
I think wm5torage "disconnect" card from PDA system and not send to system signal that it run. System power manager put itself to "half-sleep mode" for batary economy.
I try to chek this. Just switch to today and press UP and Down keys to prevent Trinity to sleep.
Great !!! wm5storage work !!!
I cheked that with different GPS ROM's
I use Softick Card Export II and works without problems.
WM5torage don´t works me when is ANY program installed in storage card - unusable.
!SOLUTION! WM5torage !SOLUTION!
Hi all,
Just like to add my input as I was frustrated with this for a long time. The program that seems to be problematic is called "VCDaemon.exe". It is some background process for "Cyberon Voice Commander". It runs in the background and seemingly decreases the load time when you hit the voice command button. What I have done is stop it from automatically loading by removing the link from "\Windows\Startup\". What you could also do is use "Task Manager" to kill the process which also worked for me. However, everytime you start up voice commander the process will restart itself so you will need to kill it again.
Needless to say as well that WM5torage, cannot be installed to the storage card as otherwise it cannot lock the storage card.

Screen align problem.

Hello, i just flashed the Touch IT 4.5. But im having problems with the startup screen align, the problem is that my screen is cracked and i cant do the align. Any way i can write some file, conectiong thought USB to my phone, or any other way to do the align?
Haven't tried it but maybe you should try mymobiler?
You probably have to edit the rom w/ the following (or maybe remove welcome.lnk in startup) to bypass the alignment (which I doubt Itje's rom is editable because of the nature of Bepe's kitchen)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Welcome]
"Disable"=dword:ffffffff

..... Read my reply carefully. U need to "edit the rom". In other words, you have to edit the rom before you flash. Since you can't get pass the initialization page, you have NO WAY to edit thru PC.
OK, well i managed to get thro the align by deleting the welcome.lng
But now the touch screen doesent work.
Im controling the Pocket PC thought the Desktop PC with a programm. But even with it i cant do the align.
Maybe theres some registri settings for the calibration points, or something?
U need to be able to use the touchscreen..
you should create a file "welcome.not" and put in to SD card (if its called Storage Card), or to the device root, that shall work. (and do a new hard/soft reset )
that must skip the align screen.

I have a same problem.Align screen was skipped when i put welcome.not in SD but screen doesn't work right.
how can i fix screen without align screen??
mymobiler doesn't connect to my phone too.

Possible corruption of OS?? Kaiser doing something odd.

Hi all,
I have recently flashed a new rom onto my Kaiser and have since had loads of problems with the OS. It will flash fine and runs fine for the first half hour or so then the problems begin.
Programs will fail to open saying that they are not installed, when I go into file explorer or total commander I am unable to access the "program Files" folder on the device. At this point the system then starts to run slow and eventually crashes, upon rebooting it'll do a hard reset and I'm back to the beginning.
I have had a white screen twice on rebooting stating something like the OS or file are not accessiable press any button to hard reset. I am wondering if the internal memory is knackered?
Is there anyway of testing the internal memory? Like a windows check disc for windows mobile?
If anyone has any ideas and has a solution I would be grateful.
Cheers

Try flashing a stock ROM first, then reflash with your intended ROM.
Cheers mate, worked a treat. Never needed to do that before but will remember it from now on.
Thanks again.

flash ROM without overwriting data

Is there a way to flash a minimal ROM to the SE X1 such that the data (documents, pictures, music, etc) on the existing ROM does not get overwritten?

You have to backup these things, like putting it on your SD card or PC. No other way.
Seriously? There is no way of me getting to my data?
I am able to start the phone (get the "beta expired message" plastered all over the screen).
I can get into the bootloader and when I plug the phone to the PC I see a Microsoft USB sync device but cannot sync with it.
Is there a way to start active sync via an autorun file on the SD card?
Come on...there has got to be a way for me to get to the data on the phone.

You cannot sync with it because your phone isn't on. As far as I know there is no other way then flashing or hard-resetting your device.
not that I heard of
the q sounds familiar, wasn't that already raised in another thread...?
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general
Here you go:

Same OP btw
on topic: afaik there is no way getting your data from a beta expired device (except the data on the storage card). And you can't flash a ROM without erasing the data on the phone.
What ROM are/were you using?
Maybe try contacting the Chef to see if he has any ideas...
I was using the Energy ROM. I already contacted NRG and he was not very helpful.
When the phone boots up, I can see the custom background image. I can also, with some messing around, get to the slide show and I see that all my pictures are there.
However, I cannot get the phone to connect to my PC via activesync (possibly because activesync is disabled on the phone). I tried to blindly navigate the menus but no luck so far. On the other hand, I was able to connect the phone to my PC using bluetooth, but for some reason OBEX file transfer is not working therefore Bluetooth explorer does not work with the phone.
If I slide open and closed the screen, I can somewhat navigate through some screens. If I hit the START button, I can navigate through all the menus, but then nothing shows up because of the white screen.
This is really frustrating because all my files all there, but just a wee bit out of reach.
I toyed with the idea of flashing with the smallest ROM I could find and then dump the ROM back to the PC and then use recovery software to try and recover the files. I would need to experiment with a second X1 just to be sure that it could work.
At this point, any ideas are more than welcome, and anything other than "it can't be done" will definitely be appreciated.
Thanks,
T

Help!

Right... I need to put a file on my internal SD card..
Can someone please tell me how to access the Internal SD card? Thank you!
Connect your phone via USB then select to connect as an internal storage.
Or if it want Kies go to options, and chnge setting there.
If you are not rooted, open My Files or Astro and you are in the internal SD card. Drop the file in a folder if you need to or just loose.
If you are rooted, open Root Explorer and open the sdcard directory. Then do the same as above

Lol, ok first off go to settings/wireless and network/usb settings and select mass storage. Then on your PC go to my computer, connect the phone via USB, on your phone you'll see a green android and a button under it that says "Connect storage to PC", tap it and the android turns orange, you're now connected. Open up the phone's internal SD in "my computer" when it's displayed.
Copy your file to the phone and when your done tap the "Disconnect storage from PC" button, the android will turn green again, hit the back button on your phone and unplug from your PC. All done.
Okay - But I need to put an update.zip file onto my phone. Which folder does it go into?

In the internal SD root directory. That is not in a sub folder...just in /sdcard.

Just put it into the SD card as is, don't open any folders, if you have file extensions set to hidden on your PC it should just be "update", if there are files on your PC with extensions, such as .exe or .jpeg etc then it will be called "update.zip", the same applies to when it's on your SD, it should only end in .zip if everything else has an extension too.
What are you planning to flash? And do you know how to do it?
It helps if you give people an idea of what you're trying to do when you ask for assistance.

I'm really sorry for not being specific.
Basically, I'm waiting for my phone which should be back tomorrow, so I can flash this theme:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037176
Marcus gave me a link to ROMKitchen and I cooked up my own rom!
I read the instructions, telling me to flash stock JVB which I have downloaded, a custom kernel which I have also downloaded and I have received instructions from Marcus telling me to install the theme via clockworkmod.
I'd really, really appreciate me if you gave me a step by step guide on how to install it

You want to know how to flash the theme with CWM right?
Ok, do you know how to get into recovery mode?
Hold Volume up + Home + Power button all at the same time, as soon as the black and white Samsung screen appears let go of the Power button while still holding Volume up + Home. Keep holding until recovery screen appears.
See the pic attached.
Use the Volume buttons to scroll up and down through the available options, and the Power button to select the one you want.
First thing you want to do is select the Backup and Restore option.
Make a Backup before you go any further.
Once the Backup is complete scroll to Install zip from sdcard, press the power button, you will be asked if you are sure you want to Install the update, scroll down a bit to confirm that you want to install and press the Power button again. The update will begin installing, once it's done you'll need to choose the reboot option, do so by using the Power button.
Your theme should now be installed.
I read through some of the thread in the link you posted, seems like some people had problems with it, so if your phone starts acting funny ask Marcus or some of the guys who had issues and resolved them, they will be in a much better position to guide you step by step if it causes problems.
Best thing you could do is to read up on flashing, roms, and kernels before trying them, there's a wealth of info already posted here, patience and research are better than a bricked phone.
Hope that helps and good luck
