htc v 1640 sold by Vodafone in SPAIN - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I am a newbie and foolishly purchased a PDA phone for a wireless project I was involved in, the software came in Spainish, and after 3 months found out that they would not change to another language (i.e English) I was not told this at the time! and I am now struggling to change the software to English.
I have heard about ROM´S and other items but it seems for me to do anything, I need to use the Spanish software to upgrade, and using this software keeps giving messages in Spanish.
How do I fix my problem and put English on my PDA?

MDA III ROM

I have tried to warn people out there that you cannot just buy an MDA III for USA use, unless fluent in the German Language.
You have to either wait for the i-Mate PDA2K or make certain that the MDA III is flashed by the supplier prior to forwarding the unit from overseas.
Also be aware that when flashing the MDA III with an English ROM, this is in essence a hack, and most likely will void the T-Mobile Germany device warranty.
How do I know all this, because I own an MDA II, and I went through all of this one year ago.
I'm now waiting for my i-Mate PDA2K.
indeed..
Also bought one from T-Mob Germany and was unsuccessfull trying to run the english rom on my device.
I got this message from a source I don't know up to which level I can trust, supposedly coming from an HTC engineer. If that's only half true then is anyone interested by buying a brand new german MDAIII :? ?
The HTC BlueAngel device was specifically added some customization upon operators requests to prevent unlocking and Rom change out of their control. Without entering into too much details, the memory mapping of each device is adapted to the operator by an hardcoded memory address translater. This translater uses a private key generated by operators and embedded into a component (a single-die chip KFG1216Q2M that can be flashed only once). Result is that attempting to flash an incorrect ROM or attempting bootloader insertion of a different language ROM result in no operation being accepted by the BlueAngel bootloader.

UK MDA III Rom Update

Apologies to all in advance, who rightly groan when I ask this, but does anyone know if and when an official UK MDA III Rom update will be released by T-Mobile UK?
I am new to the network and have no idea how the support works. I have read through the forums and seen issues with upgrading the MDA III from another ROM (such as QTEK country ID issue for example). For an absolute novice like me (no technical background whatsoever) can anyone assist me.
The issues I have appear to be common ones and they are:
1 The microphone doesn't appear to carry voice effectively (although the speakerphone seems better for some odd reason) and
2 The bluetooth connection is temperamental and battery draining; to say the least.
All help appreciated. Please forgive my naivety as this is my first ever post - so be gentle.
Sorry, I don´t understand you at all, could you tell me if you have got a new T-mobile ROM for the MDA III that has an unlocked-SIM? If so, where could I get it? Thanks.
My post was regarding upgrading my existing ROM.
My MDA is unlocked as I requested a code from T-Mobile who provided it within 1 day.
Sorry I cannot help, as like you I am trying to find out where and how to upgrade.

O2 (Germany) homezone indicator app for Qtek 9100

Hello world.
After almost a year with a messy Nokia Communicator 9500 (it took 124 secs to render the eBay.com start page), which replaced my XDA2, I couldn't take it any longer and ordered a Qtek 9100 yesterday.
Since I am a O2 (Germany) subscriber I would like to have my homezone displayed. I guess the homezone indicator requires installation of a special app, as before with the XDA2?
Further, if so, does anyone have a clue how to get and install the homezone indicator without installing the whole O2 ROM? I would prefer to keep my device unbranded.
greetings
the Inquisitor
Even the o2 branded XDA mini S is not shipped with a homezone software. An attached sheet indicated that there will be a program in the future, let's see if o2 can do....
Meantime you can use the voice indicator, which can be switched on in the rate manager (Phone No. 1414, Menu 1 - 5)
Unbelievable! These dabblers are unable to cope anything!
I had a XDA2 for several weeks last year until I was fed up of this piece of ****:
They released a ROM update after which I couldn't restore my older backups. Then they withdrew this version and told me to downgrade to the older version which they provided on their website. That older version first deleted the old ROM, then determined, that I'm trying to downgrade and abborted therefore, causing an empty ROM.
After this I called the special XDA-hotline and explained the problem twice to four different operators, who eventually blamed me for the empty ROM. In the following weeks they sent me two more XDAs, which came both with the withdrawn ROM version, so I couldn't restore my backup again. I called them once more and told them precisely what happened before. Anyway they instructed me to downgrade again and I did it. Guess what resulted! An empty ROM! And they still continued to admit, that there is no fault on their side!
O2 Germany is totally incompetent regarding HTC-devices and now they release a smartphone that won't indicate the homezone, allthough more than 70% of their postpaid customers have chosen the "Genion" tariff for it's only advantage, the homezone!
Sorry for my offtopic writing! Anyway thanks for the information, Gnarfy!

Soft Resets On All Incoming Calls!!

Hi, I am currently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and using a local SIM card in my Kaiser. It soft resets every time an incoming call is received! Googling quickly told me that this has also been a problem for some French, German and New Zealand SIM cards. HTC has already released a French ROM upgrade to fix this problem but I need an English one...I guess this has already come out or is about to - anyone know where I can get it?? Thanks!
