Can't upgrade ROM with Windows Vista RC1 - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

HI to all, i'm a newbie here and this is my first time to write and ask for help here. I been read the entire forum to get all info about the wizard phone and i really like this forum here. Give me alot of info about my phone, so i hope all people here can read first before ask question.
After a long search here, i still can't find my answer so i hope someone can help me. I just install the windows vista rc1 and hack the windows mobile based device working for it and i can sync everything and install software to mobile but when i try to upgrade my rom it won't work??? it say usb not connected but its connected at all. Anyone have any idea my happen here?
Hope someone can help me out, and i really appreciate.

If you use RegEdit to add a key called "WHOS" under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft key in the registry, connect your Windows Mobile 5.0 device and go to Windows Update, a new 7.0MB update will be available that enables Windows Mobile Device Center. This should let you do the update.

I done it already, like im say i can run the windows mobile based device with no problem for sync with my phone but when i try to upgrade the rom, the rom program will say error no usb connection. hope this will make it clear. thanks for ur help.
Anyone have try on this and having a same problem like me?

nope, works fine with me. i have asus p4pe-deluxe MB with usb 2.0 and a usb cable from canon.
my only problem is i dnt have license key,so m only on 14 days trial

hi there, i tried upgrading my 02 xda executive from the software update on O2 website.my active sync 4.1 stopped working in midst and my xda is nt working now.and my pc isnt recognising the xda. the xda isnt starting up its completely dead.I tried hitting the 2 softkeys and the soft reset button and the screen lights up and it says to rollback to factory setting hit 0 zero, but nothing happens................plz help would be appreciated.http://www.my-xda.com/xdaExecSoftware.jsp
also the screen now has USB and v1.00 over it and shows nothing but this and not starting up and my pc pops a message up saying that an unknown usb device and cant be connected

at buddy28, try to reflash it with atleast latest AKU 2.* for universal, just click ur softreset button so that the bootloader will appear again then flash with new rom(be careful though if ur not PRO)

For ArtTX, im now using the Asus Barebone T2-p computer and i have try with another computer with windows vista rc1, it also don't working. It is possible because i'm using vista rc1 not vista beta2?

I'm using Vista RC1 and I cant flash my Wizard too

hmmm.... seem like all the rom upgrade doesn't support vista RC1....thats too bad. Oh well have to switch back to windows xp.

Problem with Rom Upgrade with Windows Vista

Anyone got any problem when upgrading Rom on WIndows Vista and using the Windows Mobile Device Center instead of the traditional ActiveSync? It won't seems to connect to the device again once the device is restarted into the RGB screen [after the starting the Rom upgrade process]. After a few seconds, it got the connection error code on your PC. I soft reset the device and no upgrade has been installed. Any ideas?
I try removing the connect via USB check box and use Mtty to check the connections to my device. But after I have done that, the PC won't connect my device to my computer at all... hence, I can't get use Mtty to check the connections.
So I have no idea why this is happening on Vista. It works fine when I am using my old XP computer when I upgrade to the test ROM. Any suggestions will be appriciated. Thanks a lot of your help in advance.

Looking to upgrade to Windows Vista? You might just want to keep an XP partition on your machine, as ROM upgrades via the normal RUU client do NOT work from within Vista, due to changes in the way the OS accesses the device. This also prevents IMEI-check unlocks from working on Vista.

Problem lies with vista, but I have read somewhere a solution is underway, or allready here...

Big Problem?

I was performing the radio update on my MDAIII and now he hangs in the bootloader with USB in the upper middle und 2.08 in the under middle. All resets won`t bring it back to life. If I try to reinstall the update all I get is a blank message screen (update from version to version) in my Vista. How can I get out of there.
I did everything what was stated here
The original BAUpgradeUT won`t find my device. The MAUpgradeUt_noID.exe gives me the blank screen with the update from to screen.

I'm using a Vista PC.
After the Radio update to 1.15 the error described above is not to go away yet.
What to do, I'm nearly in tears.
Finally I got it back but with an old Romupdate from T-Online. Is there someone who got the QTC 9090 update (latest one)
That was fast..
im glad you solved your problem.
i think someone here has it.
just post what you need and make it as a title for others to read in the digest.
Im not a expert but is vista the problem??
Most likely.
Failed MDA II flash with vista notebook
Hello everybody,
I just read this thread in hope to find a solution for my problem, which is quite similar to the one described here initially.
I got a used MDA III with T_Mobile ROM. Since I'm a customer with O2, I wanted to change the ROM to O2 as well. I followed the directions given in an other thread here (don't have the link just now) and during the flashing, the flash application suddenly had no connection to my MDA III anymore. It was securely settled in its craddle an connected to my laptop via USB. Now my MDA III is stuck in Bootloader Mode with USB v2.07 displayed on the screen.
Each retry of installing either the O2 or the T_Mobile ROM now meet with the error 101: no connection. I read here that you managed to update successfully with a vista pc. Thus I wanted to ask, how you did that since I just don't seem to find the reason for the connection failing each time.
Here is what i tried to establish connection so far:
* disabled virus scanner & firewall
* unplugged the mda III and plugged it in again. It was recognized as a new device but that didn't help the connection issue
Could you please post what you did to make the update work under vista? Help would be greatly appreciated

Try on computer with Windows XP and kill activesynk (wcecomm.exe on taskmanager/processes)
Maybe it will work. If u cant flash O2 ROM try to use "MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe". On my Qtek 9090 allways flash using this APPS and allways work.
U can try too format device first, put it on candle and use "mtty1.42.exe". On XP, kill active sync, and open mtty1.42.exe and select port USB and put OK. Do "Enter" on command and should appear USB>. After this write Task 28. This will format all your PC. Try install SO after this. This command delete all files on PPC. I have attach files that you maybe need.
thankfor the tipp and sorry for my late reply. Since I have no XP PC available i tried the mtty1.42.exe on my vista notebook. When i run it however, it only lists com port 1-3, no usb port. Do i have to make a special configuration on vista for it to work?
Thanks in advance,

In vista i dont know...sorry for my late reply too.... in XP u must kill ActiveSync process called wincecom.exe. in vista, maybe u have to kill the Windows Mobile Device Center....i dont know...
Dont forget, put the Qtek 9090 in Boot Loader Mode (Pressing Power Button + Record Button + Reset), maybe will appear USB and u can format the device.
If this does not work, try on Windows XP....Find a friend with Windows XP and ask him to use his PC only to do that.
Maybe somebody in forum have the Windows Vista and can help u....
Sorry my terrible english....

Try this
Downlaod the XDA IIs .exe file and run it - no need to put into USB mode
http://www.o2online.ie/wps/wcm/conn...es+&+accessories/Xda+Range/Software+upgrades/
this should reset to factory default (o2)
it runs on vista too
I am not 100% sure it will work but worth a try

Can't connect to my pc!

I just want to connect so i can update to the newest swedish rom released.
And of course everything else
When i connect the usb to phone i get the alternatives "Activesync" or "disc-unit" or something like that.
I choose activesync.....it connects but after a few seconds it disconnects.
It will show up on my pc but just disconnects right after....it has always worked before.....i really don't know what to do.
Then i use the other alternative to connect.....it seems stable but it is extremely slow.....one mp3 at 3mb takes about 40minutes to upload to phone.
I have the "Official Update 1.37.401.3" installed but i want install the newer one.
Please help me.
My usb cords i have tried using is flawless....everything works.
Im running Vista Ultimate Retail.
Please help me through this ordeal....I'm almost at the point that I'm going tp buy another phone and leave htc forever
I really want this phone to work. It worked before actually...It might be when I updated with the Official Update 1.37.401.3 or exactly a few days after that my problems appeared.
REALLY NEED YOUR HELP XDA-PEOPLE!
Have you tried connecting it while it's in bootloader mode? If all you want to do is flash the ROM that's the best option.
One question, why did you "upgrade" to the 1.37 ROM? Isn't that what came on the device?
Open active sync (it allready might e open as u tried to connect) and go to menu (on the right) select connections and see if u have use usb connection enabled.

Yes it is enabled.
Windows XP uses Active sync V.4.5.0
Windows Vista uses Windows Mobility center:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/mobility-center.aspx
First check your advanced energy-settings (control panel, system)
To make sure put everything on 10 minutes, as these settings will reset as soon as your new (and faster 1.93) rom is installed.
Connect your phone and make sure you select the sync option, not the external disc option. Make a backup.
Then use an unsigned hard-spl if you have firmware 1.37 or higher. (signed won't work) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400950
When finished install the rom you like.
I Resolved It!
I managed to flash my phone with the new swedish official rom.
So I can connect now.
Thanx for helping me.
The problem seemed to be in Windows Vista...it wouldn't allow my HTC to keep beeing connected for too long
I resolved the problem on my other computer.
And I love the speed of the new rom by the way ...It gets better and better all the time.
Thanx again XDA Developers.
have same problem

Upgrading to WM6.5 on XDA IIs - Error 150 Maupgrade

Hey guys,
I am trying to upgrade my XDA to WM6.5. When following the wizard steps, I enter the PDA into the bootload menu, but when I run the application on my XP desktop, I recieve the following error:
Error 150: Rom Upgrade Utility Error
This ROM upgrade utility does not design for your device.
Please get proper ROM upgrade utility and try again.
Help! It's frustrating the hell out of me!
please add which rom you currently use, do you have activesync installed
Me also have the same error
I have yust tried to install the new release with the same result.
I have a Qtek 9090 with WM 6.1 rel 5.2.20262 b. 19949.1.2.0.black, but in the past month I have tested many other...
Simply the install program don't recognize the device so cannot define if it's right or wrong.
Thank you in general for your fantastic jobs !
Sorry !
Yes I have Activesync installed (for another palmsize divice).
What????
Palm size device???? so you dont have activesync... you have hotsync but....
You already tried the WM6.1.... so you have activesync... men you are getting me crazy jejejej lol
BTW...
Try to conect your device if the activesync dont recognize it and sync.... restart your PC and PPC... the if this not works...
Uninstall the AS then Reinstall it..... if not works...
Try to change to other USB port
If dont works check your advanced conections settings
and check or uncheck the advanced network config box..... if not works...
BTW upgrading needs bootloader so put it on Bootloader mode conect it if your PC says something about not recognized just.... try other PC.... are you on VISTA or XP? suggested... XP.
Thanks
I have used very bad words, so don't panic ! The other device is a "normal" HTC 3300 (artemis) with 6.0 italian std rom and A.S. 4.5.0 (Build 5096) on Win XP.
The 9090 syncs regularly and it is regularly connected (I have stopped the bootloader and reboot the BA), I will test to reboot all, and eventually change the USBport, tomorrow morning (I am a little tired now and the eyes start to cross instead of read). As soon as I have done it I will and report here what does happend.
For now many thanks to you and to Xplode also.
night men!!!
Hope it works for you tomorrow... good luckits our pleasure to help.
Have you tryed the following ?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_FAQ_STUCK_AT_STARTUP
All Ok now
Symply from the last uprade of my 9090 I had changed the PC, so it haven't all the right Drivers.
Now, following Win XP requests (it was needing wceusbsh.sys) all is gone right so my 9090 actually exposes: CE OS 5.2.21169 (Build 21169.5.0.0) release. (and I am starting to play )
Many thanks to all.
you do not need drivers, install activesync in your pc, it includes al the drivers you need - if you have it and winxp still wants driver for the ba remove/uninstall activesync and reinstall it again - remember use the latest version of activesync
Hi,
Remove your "puce" and your sd card.
And try again of course with ActivSync.
For less worry upgrade on you BA's...I...WE recommend XP with Active Sync 4.5

sync failed

I`ve installed WM 6.5 in my Qtek 9090, and when i put in dock to syncronize with my pc, said that the USB port is no longer availabile, chose another way to syncronize, or install a synchronazation software from the getting started disc... but i dont have this disk. what can i do to sync my phone with pc?
first of all, perform a hard reset by pressing power+reset+camera+record, in the menu that appears, set
Enable Kitl NO
Format Storage YES
Clear Registry Hive YES
using the camera and record buttons, confirm with the mail button.
make sure you delete older sync partnerships on your pc, you need to set up a new one.
if bot those actions did not work, try another usb port or finally flashing the rom again or maybe another rom, there are certain builds out there, that have sync issues, which one did you pick exactly?
Same problem
I have just updated a SPV M2000 to WM6.5 and cannot sync
I have tried a virgin PC running XP and this doesn't communicate. The USB connection is recognised by the PC but neither active sync works nor does the file manager recognise the PDA.
The PDA says that the USB port is a problem.
Can I still reupgrade? Maybe should I try an earlier version?
Is there a "known good" version of WM6.5 for SPV M2000?
Thanks for your help
hi and welcome to the forum.
what rom are you using (build number, chef)?
are you sure you followed the right upgrade procedure to the point? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4706441&postcount=2
especially the hard reset at the end is important and might help your case here.
yes, you will be able to upgrade/downgrade to change the rom, as long as activesync 4.5 is installed on a windows xp pc. that brings the needed driver for the device to connect, also if you can't sync.
there are many good wm6.5 roms here, just go to the blueangel rom development section and look at the different releases.
Same Problem sorted
Problem sorted.
Before you replied I tried one of the ROMs you recommended and Eureka.
This forum is really useful - thanks
I wonder if you can point me in the right direction. My real reason for upgrading the Blue Angel was to see if it would run Tom Tom Navigator 7 which needs WM6. It won't. I simply get the answer Program not for this device even though I am now running quite successfully WM6.5.
