New Cingular ROM upgrade for Palm Treo 750 (2006-10-21) - Palm Treo 750 ROM Development

Here is the first ROM update for the Palm Treo 750 (HTC Cheetah) from the still unreleased Cingular branded device!
As no one has started a wiki page for this device yet I did it myself, but I am not willing to mantain it as I don't have a Treo, so take this as a call to Treo750 wiki editors
Treo750 wiki page on XDA-Developers
Here's the link to the ROM upgrade files on XDA-Developers ftp:
Treo750_Cingular_ROM.zip
(Moderator NOTE: Sorry guys, we had to remove the file from the FTP since we've been told that it violates Palm's Intellectual Property rights.)
Upgrading instructions:
EDIT: Seems that "Step 1" is only a diagnostics image, and is not needed to perform the upgrade, go straight to "Step 2".
Insert the reader w/card into your USB, after the PC recognizes the card right click on the drive letter. Select Format from the options and make sure FAT32 is selected as the file system then select start.
Also, you need to copy the files to the memory card one at a time; DIAG file first and then delete the DIAG prior to loading the IMG file second.
Step 1:
-Copy the ‘CheeDIAG.nbh’ file to the root directory of a miniSD card. Note: Windows Mobile recognizes updates only from FAT32 formatted cards.
-Insert the card into the device.
-Press and hold both the PTTApp Button (lowest button on left side of device) + Pin Reset (next to miniSD card slot). You will be prompted to press the ‘End’ (red power) key to start the update. This step takes only a few seconds to complete. Once the flash is done, you will see: ‘Model ID: Palm Treo 750’ displayed by the device.
Step 2:
-Copy the ‘CHEEIMG.nbh’ file to the root directory of a miniSD card.
This step takes about 5 minutes to complete.
-Hard reset the device once the device indicates the upgrade has been completed. To hard-reset, hold the ‘End’ (red power) key while pressing the pin reset button. Answer “yes” to “Erase all data” prompt.
Step 3:
Verify the device software via the device <start><settings><system tab><about><phone tab> The device should display firmware version on the resulting screen.

For all those anxious minds who haven't still showed up here, (Treo750 upgrading forum still empty, wtf?!?) I can tell you that the upgrade comes in NBH file format as in the Hermes, and the same tools can be used to extract the ROM parts
Enjoy!

From the CHEEIMG.nbh you can extract 5 components:
- SPL (0x200)
- GSM (0x300)
- OS (0x400)
- SplashImage (0x600)
- uP (0x800)
From the CheeDIAG.nbh you can extract only the Diag part (0x500).

It is newer than the Voda rom, build date is Oct 12 2006.

Didn't seem to work for me. I'm stuck at red text at the top of the screen that says '00058002' and below it says 'Loading...' but nothing happens after that.
This was using the first file on a 1 GB card. I formatted it FAT32 and copied only the first file to it.

So are you stuck with a bricked 750? I just got mine this morning but won't try this update until I see it successfully done a few times

No, thank goodness. It seems like it's not reading the file on the SD card so if I just reset again, everything boots fine.

Probably a dumb question but... have you formatted the card in Fat32?
Most of the SD cards are Fat16 formatted by default.

Well your right it didnt seem like it was reading, and soft-reset powered on fine, I then copied the actual image file over, and its updating now, looks fine...will post results

card was formatted in FAT32 by the way...Ok, just finished upgrade it worked with no problems OS is running smooth! Hmm, radio seems a lot more powerful with Cingular update

Hi I'm in the UK will this upgrade work for me or is it just for Cingular ? I'm with T-Mobile.

What do you mean you copied over the file? How did you end up loading the file if the card wasn't reading like mine?

Its customized for cingular (meaning that it has cingular splash screen and some settings pre-customized) but it will work on any Treo750 device and on any network.

I don't own a treo750 and I can't test, but from what I've extracted from the upgrade files I can see that the 1st step is only a diagnostics SD card wich is *probably* not needed to perform the update... this means that you can go straight into step 2 of the upgrade process: copy the CHEEIMG.nbh file in the root folder of your FAT32 formated sd-card, this should start the upgrade.

So give us your overall ipression of the Cingular rom. What do the button assignments look like. Any issues so far?

Did it! Worked perfectly. I'm loading up things right now...so far, so good. My firmware went from 1.12.0a.00 to 1.17.20.00
You'll loose your Vodaphone Business theme but get the Cingular ringtone...lol
Goodlink loaded on it just fine. I'm letting it finish syncing all my data again before I shut the phone down to see if there are Cingular splash screens. The beginning tutorial after the hard reset shows a picture of a Cingular manual on the last step talking about reading the docs for more info.
If you're going to do it, like pof said, the first file I guess is a diagnostic. I didn't load that one and just did the actual image.

Any idea if this rom has HSPDA enabled? Also did you still have the ability to synch the device time to the network time?

I'm not in a 3G area so I don't know.
Yep, the ability to sync with the network time/date is still there

ohhh I am soo tempted to upgrade. The only issue I have is not having the Original Voda 750 rom to go back to incase something goes wrong.

Can't you use itsutils pdocread to dump your rom? There are a few on the ftp server already.

WM5 ROM location??

I'm just about ready to upgrade my Cingular Treo750 to WM6, but before I do, I'd like to make sure I can bring it back down to WM5 in case I'm one of the few that don't like WM6 or I screw up the update and just want to revert back.
This is really my first time here since the site was referred to me by people from everythingtreo.com. I've been reading other posts here that they have reverted back to a WM5 ROM, but I can't find any links on where to get it.
I'm running Cingular's WM5 on my Treo750 right now.
Thanks in advance.
I don't remember where I got it, but the file that contains it is:
Treo750_Cingular_WM5_ROM.zip
A word to the wise, if you want to be able to go back to WM5 AND install things like the factory audio patch or anything else that checks the version number, USE THE SD CARD METHOD to install WM6 and NOT the desktop method.
The reason for this is a desktop installer doesn't exist for WM5, and you will have to revert using the SD card method, which does not update the software version. So if you go to WM6 your versions jumps to 2.25 or such, and if you revert, you have WM5 v1.13 (with its audio bug, etc), but the software still says version 2.25 to any sw/patch loading program that cares.
I have never heard of a way to revert the version number back to the original 1.13. Perhaps the device reset software from the PALM web site (http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/devicereset.html) will do it, but that is complete speculation.
Found the WM5 ROM
I found the link to the Cingular TREO 750 WM5 ROM - finally found the right combination of words to type into google to find it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-320748.html
I'm pasting the included instructions below. In the thread, people were having trouble with the install of WM5, but one guy towards the bottom referred to another post that I haven't found indicating that you don't need to follow STEP 1 of the instructions.
I'm just wondering if anyone's used this ROM and if you need to do STEP 1 or not and what version it ends up flashing to..??..
my Treo is version TREO750-1.13CNG, Hardware Version: A

Rom update guide, what is missing?

Hi everyone,
I have had this new xperia and love it, I have decided I would like to update my rom but want to make sure I have not missed anything.
If it's not to much to ask can someone let me know if this guide is missing any steps.
my phone and me are both virgins.
Thanks
------------------------------------
Preperation:
1. First lets download all that you will need in order to flash your rom.
Hard_SPL_X1_V1-
And of course download any custom rom made for the X1 of your choice...that is all you will need!
2. Extract the HardSPL somewhere on your pc, you might aswell extract the rom file somewhere on your pc too.
3. Connect your phone via activesync to your pc
4. When you are connected, (I let it finish synchronising one last time, to ensure all of the data on my pc was up to date with the current data on my phone), you then go to where you extracted "X1_HardSPL.exe" and you run it...
5. Follow the instructions at some point it should say something like "Image Version: 1.02.111.7" to "1.00.X1"
When asked, press "Yes" on the X1
6. - Now a Tri-color screen should show up, showing some version Information
After that, a progressbar screen will be shown and the phone will reboot when finished
Click "Finish" on the PC
(To check if you succeeded, turn the device off (long power button press). Then hold the volume down button and turn the device on again, still holding the volume down button until the Tri-color screen shows up. It should read something like:
KOVS110
SPL-0.72.OliNex
MicroP1-787
MicroP2-707)
Remove and reinsert the battery to exit bootloader mode
You completed the first step and are now able to flash any ROM you want to your X1! (Well, at least any ROM made for the X1 of course ;-))
Steps 2-6 need only to be done once...from here on forward should you wish to flash another rom you do not need to install HardSPL again as it is already on your phone.
Flashing your Rom (The fun begins):
7. Rename the rom file you downloaded from whatever.nbh (usually it is ruu_signed.nbh) to Kovsimg.nbh (you can rename it on your pc or on your phone once you have transferred it over)
8. Start up the phone normally, if you have not already done so...then connect it to your pc...(at this point you can connect it without activesync, just as a memory card reader so that you can copy over your rom faster)
Copy your rom into the root of the memory card.
(You can also use any external memory card reader/writer connected to the pc and copy over the file)
Remeber to make sure all files have been deleted off your memory card.
9. Insert the memory card into the phone (You never know somebody might forget to do it :-S )
10. Turn off the phone completely, not standby mode (USB cable must not be attached)
11. Remove and reinsert the battery (This step can be skipped if you made sure you turned off the phone in step 10, this is just in case somebody put the phone in standby instead)
12. Hold down the volume down button and press the power button while still holding both of these buttons until the tri-color screen pops up.
13. Follow the onscreen instructions (It should install the rom +-5mins)
14. When you see the screen say "Succesfully updated", you can then go ahead and remove the battery and reinsert it.
Getting ready to see results (one last step):
Do not skip this step!!! This may result in errors!!!
15. Do a hard reset : Hold down the two silver buttons directly under the screen, while holding them down push the power button, you should then be presented with a screen that asks you to press "R" to reset your device....so go ahead and flip open the keyboard and press "R", when it completes it will ask you to press "Spacebar" to restart the device...go ahead..
16. You are done!
You have now flashed your rom....after it restarts please note the first time it starts up again will take longer than normal, you will be presented with all the normal setup's as you first did when you got your phone...
Like stylus setup and time and date etc...
With this particular rom that I flashed approximately 3/4mins after getting to the today screen a notification came up asking me to choose my operator and it then installed all the necessary connection settings for me....
You may also be asked to restart the device once more after the initial startup of the new rom, this is because upon first start up the rom may install some additional programs / cabs / tweaks which the "cooker" has cooked into the rom....
I cant think of anything more at this point, I tried to be as detailed as possible with this guide and use as much lame-man's terms as possible to make it clear and understandable....
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to post under this thread and I will answer to the best of my knowledge...
Once again thanks to XDA-Developers from whom I have learnt all of the above....

Check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477801
The only way to know which ROM is best for you is to try each of them out and see how it "fits" your personality.
Enjoy flashing!
I have not had time to do the rom flash, and might find a few hours tomorrow.
I have one last question, has any one done flashed a virgin phone in windows 7?
thanks
Need some assistance, I'm at the step where I have copied the rom to my sd card, I have renamed it to Kovsimg.nbh
I hold volume down and power on, i get a message no image file found.
I'm trying to use Jack_3.5b_Full.
I have formated the the flash memory to fat32, the rom is the only file on the card.
I have started the phone and I can see the memory card ok and the flash file.
Does any one have any idea's?
Thanks

9. Select apply sdcard: update.zip
10. Select the Cyanogen ROM you placed on there from step 1
11. Hit home to flash it after selecting it
12. When it is done flashing hit reboot system now with the trackball or hold home and power to reboot the phone
13. The initial boot up after a rom can take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes. If it takes over 15
press send, menu, and power at the same to time to reboot then hold home to boot into recovery. if you cannot manage to do this for some reason then yank the battery and hold home and power to boot into recovery.
select wipe data/factory reset, hit home to apply
Reflash the rom from the above steps.
Reboot and wait for it to boot up
14. When the phone boots up and is usuable, if you had to do a factory wipe then you will have to sign into google again. if not then your phone should be good to go from there
if you didn't wipe and get a lot of force closes then you will need to power down your phone and wipe it using above method after battery yank
15. Now your gonna wanna have your Radio at 2.22.19.26I (Which you probably have) but if not download it here
16. place the radio on the root of your sdcard
17. power down your phone and boot into recovery
18. apply the radio the same way you applied the rom
19. reboot your phone
20. Download the Hard SPL
21. put it on the root of your sdcard

23. apply the Hard SPL using the method above for flashing the rom
24. After the Hard SPL is flashed, reboot the phone
25. You now have root with the latest radio and Fastboot SPL and a Custom ROM
26. Now for the partion for auto apps2sd
27. Turn off your phone
28. Enter recovery by holding Home + Power
29. Scroll Down and press on Enter Console or press alt+x

Ok first of all, nice guide. I love the screen shots
Second, i suggest adding a download link for your files like the Cyanogen rom.
For the first, screenshot, you should have the rom be in the root of your sd card shown that its not in any folder or w/e...
You should also add links for downloading the Hard SPL and the OTA Radio found on the HTC website.
For formating the SD CArd, make sure your clearly state that its for 1 GB only and where to find how to format other sized sd cards.
Basically, the only thing you are REALLY missing are the links to download the files.
Last, thanks for the credit . This is a very good guide. Keep it up
Thanks for the nod in the credit section. It's nice to know that some people we help just don't take their answer and run but rather give back to the community like you did.
Even though this guide is very specific, I am sure it will help people. It's is neat, organized, well written, and the screen shots are very n00b friendly.
Great job, and welcome!
Edit: I did notice a small error...your links to the recovery flasher app are not links but just words. Seems like you forgot the hyperlink....
Did not realize hyperlinks were missing. I did this on word and i had all the links sorry.
And i mention you two cause i couldnt have done it without you.

Agreed.
On step 31, you really need to mention 2 things.
1- your "noob friend" really needs a bigger/faster sd card
2- he needs to make sure and put the parameters of his card (it may be 996, not 999)
But yeah, good guide overall.
Step 9 says to use "apply update.zip" but you didn't tell them to rename it to that. With no previous knowlege they won't know and might be scared to try the "apply any zip from sd" option.
Other then that guide looks pretty thorough and done well.

Word... just change the guide so that they use the next option to flash any .zip. You can also just have them download and copy all three files at once in the beginning, in the interest of efficiency, and flash one after the other.

[Q] HELP! Asked my brother to root my Nook, he left halfway through and now I'm stuck

Problem: I'm NOT tech savvy, which is why I asked my brother to root my brand new Nook Color over Father's Day weekend when he was at my house. He got about 50% through and left . He said the rest would be "easy" and to follow a YouTube tutorial. I seriously doubted this. About a minute into trying it on my own I encountered an error (detailed more below) and every time I try to follow the workaround I get discouraged and ignore the Nook for a few days as an avoidance mechanism so I don't fall into a deep depression. A friend suggested this forum because you guys are (hopefully) nice and understanding to people like me.
I'm looking for some serious hand-holding help. I'll probably have a lot of questions that will seem silly and obvious to you, and I apologize for that in advance. If someone is willing to IM me on Gchat that would be FANTASTIC and so appreciated but definitely not expected. Really at this point any help would be appreciated since I spent $300 on something I haven't been able to use for almost 2 weeks.
I watched the "Noob" video upon registration and have tried my best to follow the workarounds on the forum, but it all feels like I'm reading another language to be honest with you. I'm not familiar with what the files my brother downloaded on my computer do, how rooting works, or anything. So here's as much information as I have and if I'm leaving anything out please let me know.
YouTube - Here is a link to the tutorial my brother used to begin the rooting process. I took over after he did all the fancy stuff to the SD card. I started by putting the SD card into the Nook and basically all I did was a bunch of glorified clicking. I got the error at 10:58
XDA - Here is a link to the work-around to fix this error. I basically don't understand what to do AT ALL. I got lost at I need this put into special-needs simplicity. THIS sounds like Greek to me ---> "As many of you know, the newer Nook Colors come with a partitioning that allows 5GB of space (/data -- ext3 partition) for apps and B&N books/etc, and 1GB of space (/media -- FAT32 patition) for user side-loaded content. The older Nooks had the reverse: 1GB for /data, and 5GB for /media."
Here is all the stuff my brother downloaded and that is still on my computer. I don't know what any of these do but it might help anyone that's trying to tell me what to do:

My computer: MacBook Pro OSX 10.6.7
Nook Color was purchased on June 19. I don't know how to figure out what version of the operating system I have since the screen is stuck in something that looks like MS Dos to me. YES, THAT'S THE ONLY THING I CAN COMPARE IT TO, lol. MS Dos. But at the bottom it says "ClockworkMod Recover x3.0.0.5"
In other news, I'M REALLY REALLY MAD AT MY BROTHER. I asked him to do it to avoid this whole mess. But now I'm left with a Nook I can't read on and I'd like to be able to use it.
I'm not familiar w MAC, but if you can burn an imaage to your SD card, you should be able to follow the instructions in the developer nook forum and follow the "size agnostic CM7 SD card." Topic. IT should get your device running off a SD card root bypassing the messed upinstall on your nook. You.'ll be able to use your nook asap, and the instructions are newbie approved.

To be honest, I don't know how to burn an image to an SD card. And everything after that point on your post doesn't make much sense to me. I can try to find that topic though...
When I say I'm "tech-retarded" I really mean it. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M DOING, haha.

wait....if its booting into clockwork mod then you basically just need to flash a rom and/or a kernel. i would recommend cm7 http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=encore get either the latest nightly 118 at time of me replying or just below get the RC cm7.1 which stands for release candidate, but i would just go with the nightly. put that downloaded zip onto your micro-sd card somewhere easy to find and remember....i created a folder named cm7 for all my flashing. then insert the sd-card, reboot the nook, on that "dos" looking screen scroll down (using the volume buttons) to "install zip from sdcard" press the N button to select > scroll down to "choose zip from sdcard" press the N > find that file/folder you just downloaded and put on the sd card and press the N to select it > it will do its thing and if it were successful in flashing it will tell you so on screen. press the power button to back up to the previous menu > press the N on "reboot system now"
let it boot, the first boot can take some time (minutes)
if all went well then you will be running off CM7. play with it for awhile before you decide to flash an OC Kernel, or a different rom.
good luck...
It's not clear from your message what the error you're getting is, but at 10:58 in the video they're formatting the /cache. Are you getting an error at this point, so you want to execute the procedure described in your second link?
If so, you need to download one of the partitioning packages in the second link, probably "c", and also the Reformat-data package. Copy this to your SD card using Finder. Re-insert the card into the Nook, reboot into ClockwordMod Recovery. Select the "install zip from sdcard", select the file for the partitioning package, and install that. Reboot into recovery again, and do the same thing again, but this time select he Reformat package.
Okay so you aren't tech savvy that is all good. You don't need to be to kick your brother's a$$
You should make him finish it.
Hey Bethany. Glad you found xda okay. Can you confirm that what you see is at 10:58 in that YouTube video? Because that's a program called ClockworkMod, and it's darn useful.
If you can get to this screen, we can point you in the right direction.
When you turn on your Nook Color, what does the screen at the top say? Verbatim will help.
Hi!
Sorry that he left you "high and dry", but the following might help:
A method using a Mac-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpdHS6CaQGc
The other method is to force the Nook to fail to boot 8 times in a row using this process:
Eight interrupted Boots
1.Power off the nook.
2.Tap the power button.
3.As soon as Welcome to the future of reading appears, hold the power button down to interrupt the boot process.
•If the boot animation does not appear, add 1 to your interrupted boot count.
•If the boot animation DOES appear, your interrupted boot count is reset to zero. Start over.
4.Repeat from step 2 until your failed boot count reaches 8. At this point, the nook will re-flash its /system partition. You will see the process on the right.
This should bring your Nook Color back to the "out of the box" condition, allowing you to start fresh.
Do you know how to install an irc chat client onto you Mac? If so, there is a chat room for people needing help and a lot of people there to help you. The channel is called #nookcolor. Basically you need to put the sdcard into you Mac and copy the image, the 7.0.3 is the one I think you downloaded. Eject the sdcard and put it in the nook with the power turned off then boot the nook. Choose the install zip from the sdcard. Also the image you have is kind old using the encore link eariler in the thread.
For posterity, and so I don't re-hash my steps, here's what BlahBethany and I tried to get the nook to boot.
1. Since the Nook booted into CWMR, we tried flashing cm7 (success) and gapps (success). The Nook booted back into CWMR after rebooting.
2. Tried wiping the cache + data, rebooting. Still did not boot into CM7, only into CWMR.
3. Tried undoing everything with a stock Nook image, got an error that the Nook was unable to wipe /data, but /system wiped perfectly.
I think her brother used an old bootable recovery image, which is what caused all the problems. brianf21 has pointed this out. Thanks!
Rebooted to the Nook button screen. If we can get this correctly running the original Nook software, I'll walk her through re-rooting with an updated Recovery image.
I'll post in this thread for my own sanity, and for anyone else who has had this problem.
I know lots of noobs like Bethany and I have a question here. Has anyone explained to her that there's a difference between rooting and installing CM7? This seems like the sort of thing she might not know. Depending on how she uses her nook she might be better off with rooted 1.2. It would be simpler for her to do as well.

When you rebooted after the flash, did you remove the sdcard?
we did. It wouldn't get past the nook screen. She's running nookie froyo now, but it's slow.
When I have time I'll get to flashing stock, re-rooting and trying cm7 again.

Hard Brick on Asus ZenPad S8 (Z580CA) or Z580C

HARD BRICK NO MORE!!! Asus ZenPad S8.0 Fix
I made the sad retarded mistake in updating a manual zip file thru CMW... I know retarded... anyways this caused the tablet to Hard Brick bootloader only with very little options, you might even have your serial number showing up as all 1's.
Usually this isn't a big deal sadly this tablet gets little to no love on the internet it seems... This is a guide to help anyone un-brick their tablet
Step 1. First this is more of a windows 10 issue than anything but some driver installs thru the Asus Flash Tool might fail.. something to do about Driver Certificates, so you'll want to disable that on your Win 10.. here a tutorial link for more youtube link HERE
Step 2. Installing the proper Drivers if you haven't already, which will all be in this zip folder HERE
Make sure you installed the ADB-Setup | Intel Android Drv Setup | Asus Android USB Drivers | Asus Flash Tool Installer 1.14
Step 3. Next you'll want to download the .raw file for the ZenPad can be found HERE
Step 4. Open your Asus Flash Tool Installer, boot up your device in the boot mode. (Hold Down the Volume Up + Power ) till you see a little android man with a hardhat.
Step 5. Plug in your device and you should see your device show up as shown HERE, next you'll want to select the model in the model drop down.... Z580C or Z580CA.. then select file. Now if it only lets you select zip thats okay. On the open file dialog box you'll see you can type in the file, simply type in the file path of the .raw file. Once you have that check on Erase Content which will erase all your internal content, and hit flash... let it run until the blue light on the program is green and has flashed succefully.

Now you may still get on a bootloop when it restarts, if that happens simply again restart in boot loader screen and do a hard reset and you'll be good to go! Afterwards just throw that new Marshmallow update in the internal and restart .. and you'll device will ask if you want to update now u got your tablet back and Marshmallow!!! I hope this helps if you have any troubles with the links, images please feel free to let me know pm or reply to this post!!! Best of Luck!
.RAW File was provided by Portzebie! Thanks again bud!!

Just followed the guide and after a little tinkering was able to get it to work. You don't need to change the file extension.
A few additional notes:
-to install the asus android drivers (not sure if it's even necessary but), open the ASUS_Android_USB_Drivers folder, then the android folder, then right click android_winusb.inf and select install.
-in the asus flash tool, after you select model, the location of the raw file and wipe, make sure you click on the SN to select the device. I didn't do this the first few times and it didn't do anything.

ASUS Flashtool doesn't start flashing
Hi all, apprechiated all the posts above however, came across another issue when trying to downgrade from MM 6.0.1 to Lollipop
1. Hooked up my Z580CA tablet as described above.
2. ASUS flashtool recognized my device (right serial number and blue light on)
3. I was not able to put in the raw-file location, only (neither with backslash or without)
4. When pasting path and including backslash I was able to select the raw file (H:\EDV\Tablet\Android 5 LP\RAW\Z580C_all_WW_user_V4.6.1.raw was quoted in the file name window)
5. When I hit start, the flashtool ask for confirmation upon wiping data.
6. Nothing happens
Does anybody have a clue what went wrong
These instructions do not work for Ubuntu. I find it very hard to believe that there is only a Windows version of the flash tool available.
Does anyone know how to upgrade again to MM after flashing this rom?
EDIT: CAUTION People, there seems to be no way to upgrade back to MM after flashing this ROM.
Yes you can upgrade

And you did this by downloading the .zip file from Asus Support? Then you placed it on the internal memory of the Zenpad? Unzipped or zipped?
EDIT: Until someone more senior comes to this thread and confirms that they have a. Used the provided .raw file, and b. updated afterwards with the precise steps i'm very much questioning this .raw file legitimately.

restart your zenpad and it will show you the message, upgrade available.
Edit:are you sure you on lollipop? If you are on Marshmallow ,the device wont recognize the systemupgrade.
if you re rooted it may also wont work

Did you made an factory reset after installing lollipop on fastboot mode?
Switch your device off. Turn it on by pressing volume up and powerbottom at the same time.
When the little androidman appears you can stop pressing both bottoms.
Choose factory reset with volume bottom and confirm with power bottom.

I just did this, this is my second tablet by the way, I returned the other one and this second one also does NOTHING when trying to update.
Its a shame really, its a great product but the lousy support on Asus side does little to inspire to again purchase from them. Honestly who rips out multiple user support on a tablet?
I'm all out of options to be honest, I have tried everything even variations on suggested sulotions but nothing works to make the update pop up.
This .raw file to me is broken when there is no way to update beyond that. But I need multi user support so I guess ill just stay on 5.0.

Probably you still on lollipop by this version "Z580C_all_WW_user_V4.6.1.raw" from the tutorial . Get from asus usa website the "UL-P01M-WW-4.7.1.0-user.zip" and update to latest lollipop version . Then it might update again to mm.
Here the link

This zip file also doesnt register, nothing pops up and no, when pushing the update button it also does nothing.
It would seem that the OP provided a nice 5.0 raw file that renders your tablet un updateble.
I'll be returning this tablet and going for the only available option in the netherlands the samsung 8 incher.
Z580C tablet is bricked, it happened on update, I think battery was too low. Screen is black all the time, under windows device manager it connects as other devices, MOOREFIELD device with no drivers and I can hear from windows sounds that it reboots after some time. All post #1 drivers are installed.
Please help.
Thank you

Had the same problem and what I did to make it work was.
1. Lunch Asus Flash Tool
2. Connect device in download mode (volume up + power)
3. Wait for device to be visible in Asus Flash Tool ( Serial number + blue dot) - you may need to restart tablet using reboot droidboot
4. Select model number
5. Point to raw file and choose to erase data (accept the prompt )
6 Hit Start
What I also did prior to that was factory reset of tablet
hope that helps you
