Just updated my p3600 with this rom and so far the gps seems to be working fine.... Yep I had to use the paid unlocker.

just to confirm GPS does work but it's definitely not as good as the P3300's GPS receiver

gps works here too.. had a HTC P3600 that I used the paid unlocker and flashed this rom on. So far so good. As far as accuracy i'm not one to ask as I'm not a GPS expert but it seems decent and i'm happy so far.

spv m700
I TRIED TI INSTALL THIS ROM ON MY SPV M700 BUT IT's impossible
i have this message : ERROR 294 invalid VENDER ID

I've installed the ROM and enabled the Control Panel for GPS (Registry edit). It REALLY works. My GPS is on COM Port 9as stated. However, I don't have any GPS software and I'm using the Trial Version of Mapking G10 and it does fix and navigate!

GPS does work fine. I have tested with TomTom 6.x ( gps connection is configured as "BT GPS receiver, on port: COM9 GPS)
It takes longer time to recieve GPS fix then with SIRF III chipset driven GPS receiver. I had to wait for almost 6 minutes to receive GPS fix. Otherwise I have no issues so far with it.
Tested in Melbourne, Australia in build up area.
I didn't have to change / enable anything in registry. It workls out of the box. GPS chipset is initialised upron GPS connection request from navigation software (TomTom in my case).

Which one are u using? HTC p3600, Dopod D810, Dopod 9100 or others?
Have u unlock the cid ?

I cannot download. Any other link available? Does anybody knows if it will work on HTC P3600? (trinity100)

Could someone please explain step by step how its been done?
Far as I understood you used the Paid unlocker. What have you done exactly?
Afterwards your Trinity has a SuperCID? And you are able to flash the FW offered here?
Please give me a little help. I bricked a TyTn 3 Weeks ago and I cant brick that one too. Gets a little bit expensive.

unlocked device using the imei-check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291050
Once this was done device was superCID'd and I was able to just flash the firmware as normal.
So far I am very happy with the new firmware. It seems quicker.. and the GPS is working great. My initial fixes have been very rapid less than a minute. So far I am very impressed with the GPS feature (much better than I feared it would be) and doubt I will ever use my bluetooth SirfStarIII device again. Also the "E"dge Icon is now functioning under this ROM.

cheers
tomtom works on my aussie D810 with the same rom...
I set the GPS reciever to other NMEA GPS reciever.
coldstart it can take a minute or more to find the signal.
try standing outside in a area with a good wide view of the sky, or even driving round.

Depending on the version of/locked files (Search forum) TOMTOM, you might need to configure it each time.
In 6.02 and below you need to select the NEMA (or whatever its called).
In 6.03 they have a selection of inbuilt GPS device. I Found 6.03 much less hassle to be honest.
how do i get 6.03 please

Are you outside with clear view to the sky? Wait 15 Minutes there! It WILL work.
You're on the right track with GPS on COM9 if you are not using version 6.03. If you get as far as "No valid GPS signal" message then that means your GPS receiver is tracking satellites ok and you're just not getting a GPS fix. I had the exact same problem as you.
1) Just restart your d810 (stylus into the small hole on the underside of your dopod )
2) Start your TomTom and use the same setup as you did before with NMEA.
3) Select GPS on COM9
4) When you get the "No valid GPS signal" message stand outside where there is lots of open sky (if you're in the city... tough luck it would be really hard to get a GPS fix there).
5) Be prepared to wait for up to 15 minutes until you get a GPS fix. Mine took more than 10 minutes.
Got it working plus more
Thanks guys you have been a great help
i updated my tomtom software it was easy
as advised i went to here
http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=17
installed home software
then went to this site and followed its instructions

and installed tomtom home plus on my computer
tomtom home is excellent for anyone that does not have it, its free and a must have.
tomtom home then updated all my software and gave me free some cool new stuff.
after this did as you said went outside three minutes it was up
thanks i hope this helps others
now if i can only try to see if i can modify my 838 to do this aswell
i know the 838's don't have gps connected inside unit but has anyone opened one up and connected it.
I currently have 4 brand new dopod 810s and 4 dopod 838's i will have to sell some as we just got given them and some people oready had them before we got given them.
they were given to you? wow! give them away too. throw one my way

The more stable RADIO ROM

Hi,
I've installed the lastest ROM RADIO v1.46.00.11
My GPS take 5 to 15 min to fix I don't know if is due to the RADIO ROM but I've read somewhere that this version is not the best for France (Europe)
Can someone told me wich one is the more stable for GSM and GPS
thanks
the radiorom is only for the phone not
for gps, wifi or bluetooth

Are you sure.... I've read in a thread in XDA that the GPS depend on the ROM but not the WIFI
i'm curious too.. i thought radio ROM affects gps and bluetooth as well as phone
i'm not 100% but under the impression as there are plenty of pda's around which dont have phone but have gps, wifi and bluetooth
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317851&highlight=wifi
I think that Radio Rom affect GPS too because when I bought my P3600, GPS wasn't enable and I had to upgrade Radio version in order to active the GPS.

Radio is different to ROM.
Anyways, not sure if this would help, but I'm using Radio version 1.46.30.11, I really don't know if Radio has anything to do with GPS reception, but you can try upgrading it to that.
There's also a program out there that's meant to help GPS fix. It's called GPSTest that was posted a few days back. Might want to look that up.
Will post again if i can find it and test it.
And here it is, but not sure if it's a myth or reliable
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1450160
Now im curious to now what the different Radions do with the phone??
never seen a change log / release note for any radiostack to any device
guess htc dont release them externaly
and a user based opinion vs. writing would
be so individual and biased it would be pointless

GPSTest doesn't help GPS fix. GPS fix is dependant on GPS hardware. The only benefit of GPSTest is that it is a small program, thus it loads faster therefore initialising GPS faster. That's all it does.
That being said. Radio Rom absolutely has an effect on GPS receiver. Do you remember when the Trinity first came out with GPS disabled? Was it not disabled because of conflicts with the 3G radio? So you'll have to find a radio version that works right for you. Personally, the 1.46xxx radios suck ass for me in Canada, so I'm trying out different ones to see which works best.

Is there any official solution pour the GPS problem

It is realy weird the diamond GPS
Seems to be Ok with Google Maps
I don't understand what you mean by pour GPS, at my phone its by far the best gps receiver I have ever tried it can compete whit my Pioner buildin Dvd system, the only thing where it lose from build in systems is in tunnels.

My rom is the original from when I bought it I just overwrote the second day whit the same rom version cause I couldn't get connected to Wifi
Rom version 1.37.404.3 NLD
Radio 1.00.25.03
My Gps is giving a fix even whit a cold start whitin 15 seconds at most, ofcoarse my buildin Pioner is giving a fix faster but thats not a real satfix it just remeber where it was when I stoped same whitin a tunel it reads through gyros and the distance where it is and not trough the sat signal, I think at least until the European sat sys will be up this will stay like this and even don't now or the European system will change anything to this.
I don't now on which compoort you have your Gps I have it at 4 and coldn't get it on a other eather whil the bleutooth sync wants to use this poort aswel it was a choice or Sync true bluetooth or fast GPS.

I have written about it in one post - I have two Diamonds (EU version - GPS get fix after 1-2 min and HK English version - GPS get fix immediately!) Strange, but true! I have also find out that EU Diamond works with SIM card change in f.e. Sprite Terminator, but HK Diamond didn't reckognize that change! All on the same ROM, is it so significant difference in hardware versions?...
What is a HK version?
I have a DIAM100...but I don't know what it means...
I also don't know if mine is a EU version, or a HK verwsion...

Um abraço
So DIAM100 means Hong Kong?
If so, I bought it in Europe, so it should be a EU version...if I flash HardSPL to allow me to install cooked roms, does it change the DIAM code?
And finally: is having a DIAM100 a good thing, or a bad thing?

OBRIGADO!!!!!!
My Diamond once lost the ability to get any GPS signal, but this is how I fixed it...
1. Go to "externalGPS" then "Access" tab then Untick the checkbox then hit ok
2. Turn the device off
3. Turn it back on then tick the checkbox then hit ok
It should now find a signal (May take about 2 mins the first time)
Yeah, but the problem is not fixing the satelites, but the lag and accuracy of navigation...
HastaSSSS
i only get "lag" if the dop values are crap. -> high inaccuracy.
And that usually happens in the city when only a few sats can be picked up (4-5), and they are in a disadvantageous position to each other (e.g. all in a line or near to each other with a very small angle)

I have a HK version and when first used with the standard ROM 1.34 mine lagged to, the same sort of way - going under abridge for exapmle would not show on TT until i passed the bridge. But since updating - first time round to a 1.37 ROM the lag stopped.
I now use TT with the latest Maps available for Navigator 6 and it is perfect a fix in under a minute...
Yeah okay, but most people with a Diamond don't want to use TTN6. They rather use TTN7. Maybe upgrading to the latest radio available could be an option. I did so, but I have to test the gps in TTN7 to see if the lag has become less or not.
using TT7 2 weeks now without lags. works proper and did work proper with stock rom for me.
Hi,
Does anyone that says that the lag is OK now, Geocache? I would go out tomorrow to buy a Diamond, but I would like to use it for Geocaching and I've read on other threads that it is no good because of the lag and accuracy.
Thanks

uk radio

ok, so this may be a lame question and probably depends on a lot of variables but can anyone suggest a good radio for use in the uk??
is there such a thing, i've tried lots and so far seem to like a few but i still can't get the bl**dy GPS to work properly
i get a loke in about 10 mins if lucky.
i've used poldo's rom and ngy's and pda ultimate, and for my purposes poldo's seems the quickest and most stable to me.
any help would be appreciated.

Haven't used emo as have used the radio mentioned with no issue on every ROM i flash and even 3 carriers.
Do you use quickgps and have you tryed running GPSTest as you will find fix faster, also will always take longer for fix off cold boot.
I used to live in Solihull area of Birmingham and use 1.71.09.01 radio with 3G switched on (HSDPA off) and I could leave it with data connected all day and sync my mail every 15 minutes and at the end of the day after a few short calls I would still have 40 - 50% left.
I have just moved to South Wales (valleys area) and the same setup down there my battery is on 0% by 4pm. So I have had to kill 3G and set mail to manually refresh to get through the day.
fixed it
gps test installed and a new radio 1.65.16.25
get a gps fix in about 10secs.
i come from south wales, lived near the vally's in bedwas. now live and work in greenwich london.

Glad you got this resolved but I used that Radio with the 'initial' UK HTC official WM 6.1 ROM update and it well and truely broke my GPS (compared to the WM 6.0 setup in my sig I'm back to using). I have no need to use gps test or any programs other that Tomtom Navigator 6.032 so I strongly suspect your results have more to do with GPS Test or the ROM, than that particular radio.

How to tweak to the maximum the Kaiser GPS?

Hello there,
I bought a week ago a second hand kaiser, and i noticed that it already had the hyper dragon IV lite rom flashed, so i told myself, all the hard work is done, go try some custom roms.
And I did, there was some lite ones, some plenty of softwares, some 6.5, but the thing i want from this phone is: THE GPS and the MP3 player, thos are the most important things for me, since i am all the time moving here and there, i really need them.
So, in order to be a more independant guy, i searched, and i searched again, i found some useful threads that made my gps work (because it almost wasn't working i bought it), and some others that made GPSTest display high bars on gps detecting but no fix at all (it also screwed my signal, and fu**** up my camera, and that's bad), all that by changing radio roms and trying.
And well i am very tired of trying again and again, feel just like if i was stuck in the middle of nowhere.
So, my questions:
Does the gps really work better on 6.0wm than the 6.1 and 6.5?
Does the gps really work better on stock roms than cooked ones?
Does the quickgps software really improve the speed to get a FIX?
How long are the bars your devices display when you activate your GPSTest soft? (i'm having a quarter max, and when i say a quarter, it is really the down limit of the quarter, it rarely go upper)
I have a tomtom 7.450 soft, and this thing is all the time saying bad gps reception (sometimes it even end up screaming no gps harware), is it normal?
So what software do you use for navigation?
I really don't care about cooked roms optimisations, fast and everything and all that, i want to be able to answer and emit calls, receive and send SMS, write some notes from time to time, and make GPS working great, wanna have a super fast fix.
I'm living at Brussel in belgium, living in the 5th floor, and testing my gps close to window, or i go to a parc 10 minutes away from home.
I am ready to try almost everything that can guis ALL of US to have a better GPS!
This works for me.

As I charge my TyTN II by putting it to bed in its cradle every night (which is connected via USB to my PC on the internet), it automatically updates its QuickGPS data so it's hardly ever more than a day old any way. Often times during a day while I've got an active data connection I'll also manually initiate a QuickGPS download. Interestingly, the HTC Official WM 6.1 'update' for my TyTN II broke this feature and QuickGPS wouldn't automatically update when plugged into its cradle - even manual updates didn't make a difference though as far as WM 6.1 was concerned.

So what software do you use for navigation?

I have version 6.032 which came with my HTC Branded TyTN II on an accompanying CDROM. It's still avail for purchase although for some crazy reason TomTom wont sell version 7 or even an upgrade to it so there's no official way to buy it except for on the devices it comes with. If you get hold of version 6 from TomTom on a device kitted out as per mine, it will work and work well - unless you have lead lined walls and heat reflective film on your windows in which case you'll only get good performance outside.
I really don't care about cooked roms optimisations, fast and everything and all that, i want to be able to answer and emit calls, receive and send SMS, write some notes from time to time, and make GPS working great, wanna have a super fast fix.

Similar priorities to me, the only true speed/performance related area I find important is GPS, reliability is the next preference and thats where the Radio version I'm using comes into things. I found that although 1.27.12.11 gave quick GPS fixes, sometimes when Pocket Media Player was playing a music or video file, it'd stall its playback while waiting for TomTom to get a fix. Radio version 1.27.12.32 fixes this and also gives quick GPS fixes. I have tried even newer radios (2 versions of 1.27.15.32) but alas as is with the case of many of the newer offerings, that was a step backwards in terms of GPS performance (at least here in the UK (/Europe?).
There is a section in the xda-dev wiki all about improving GPS performance if you haven't already found it.
I had tomtom 7 and the gps fix in that software was horrible for me. Even when google maps and gpstest had a good fix, tomtom would say "bad signal" or "no signal. I switched to igo which locks in after a minute and works perfectly. The other problem that could be affecting you might be the radio version. I had one radio that would make my GPS useless; it would never connect. Try changing your radios and see if that helps.

In my experience solely with Official HTC ROMs (which don't include WM 6.5 of course) yes - and by a longggg shot.
I've heard it does but they'd have to do pretty well to surpass the GPS performance and simplicity I'm getting from my current setup.

Okay, i'll try to find a stock 6.0 rom and give it a shot, do i have to flash a stock radio rom (even if don't understand how we could modify radio roms...)

I don't understand what you're getting at. The precise setup in my signature works really well for GPS. If you flash all those components and aren't to far away from the UK, I imagine it'll work well for you - there's no harm in trying.

The map for my 'old' version of TomTom was on special offer (Western Europe 6.75) so you may well pick up a bargain.

I was just kidding about lead lined walls and metalised film covered windows (although many new cars these days have metalised windscreens, so if it doesn't work in your car that may be why).

Thats because you've not read the relevant ROM Flashing wiki's and stickies enough to know that you must use a WM 6.0 Radio with a WM 6.0 ROM. I suggest you spend more time revising things in this area as it WILL be time well spent and you'll learn more about your device.

Well you needent. All the details of what works best (as far as stock components go) are in my sig and as Belgium isn't far from the UK, I cant see why it shouldn't work well for you also

Radio: 1.27.12.32
But gpstest cannot find the gps, and it stucks on com5 while scanning

You did read the part in the wiki about making sure you have a WM 6.0 compatible SPL version didn't you (SPL questions? section covers it well). Again, you need ALL the bits in my sig (note that I don't need or use GPStest under this WM 6.0 setup). I cant say how it'll go with other than TomTom 6 as thats all I've used apart from Google Maps which also works very well on this setup - you might want to try the free Google Maps for testing purposes if you have a data package from your network provider.
I got my current setup by flashing hardSPL 1 then the complete ROM shown in my sig (which came with 1.27.12.11 Radio originally) then upgrading the radio to 1.27.12.32, then flashing the HTC 1.93 spl (this last step shouldn't be necessary though if you think you'll be doing more flashing).
I'm using the official WM6.1 and the GPS lock is horrible. I can see it getting signal from a number of sats but it can take 10minutes to lock in sometimes. I've read some threads on the subject, and have tried Quick GPS and have aGPS off, but neither guarantees a quick lock.
I seem to recall WM6.0 was better but it was also using a different radio then as well.
Anyway, sorry nothing I can offer to help.

You mean like the setup in my signature? You do realise it's possible to go back to this if you read up here on xda-dev about how to do so?

I agree, short of trying a custom WM 6.1 ROM, with no guarantee of success or installing third party apps to 'help' the GPS work properly, IMO WM 6.1 is a lost cause as far as GPS is concerned.
I had the same problems with the GPS, what I've found to work is using a program called GPSToday. there are 2 programs, one is a today plugin, and the other is a program. I use the program, and it really makes a difference for me. If you do a search in the Kaiser software forum, you will find more information about it. I use it with TomTom software, i start GPS today a min or 2 before i start tomtom and i get a fix right away.

Great News from Here
I Managed to get my phone configured exactly like yours, and god! It is damnly fast, i got my first fix within seconds, its almost unbelievable !
I had it configured like that when you first advised, but i forgot to downgrade spl, i suppose that was the cause of the malfunctioning.
I really recommend to everyone who have the same priorities, to flash back to Flying Kiwi settings:
ROM Version: 1.56.405.5
ROM Date: 08/28/07
Radio: 1.27.12.32 (better than 1.27.12.11 with WMP)
Protocol: 22.45.88.07H
SPL: 1.93

Here is the threads that can help you :
For the SPL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354061
For downloading the 1.56.405.5 rom: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_ROMs
For the 1.27.12.32 radio: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Radio
Man, you really were very helpful, thank you very very very much, and my kaiser is even faster with this settings.
If i can help by anyway send a pm please
This post should be made sticky for future information!
EDIT:
I have to Warn you Guys: In order to have the GPS working you have to follow this procedure:
Flash the 1.56.405.5 rom and then flash the 1.27.12.32 radio rom, and finally flash the SPL, otherwise GPS will not work, i just tested that
Did the Wm6.0 up/downgrade also resolve the precission of the GPS?
Iam now on WM6.1 WWE with radio 1.70.19.09 and hardSPL 3.56 with a realy fast GPS fix within 30 secs. no problems with that
But the problem is that I mention a little lag kind of thing when navigation with TT7 in my car. The Tomtom arrow is little bit behind with the reality it is usable though but if i connect it to an external sirfIII gps mouse it is more accurate.
So I wonder if you guys also have a slight GPS lag with WM6.0...
