Differences is I use the dopod rom on my p3600? - P3600 Software Upgrading

Hi - I have been reading through the forum and I can see I can flash my p3600 with the new dopod rom to enable GPS . I just haven't picked up the courage to do it yet !!
What are the main differences (apart from the GPS) ?.........
Is the dopod a basic blue theme rather than the HTC green ?? Can someone upload some picture of the phone and the comm manager ??
Is there any other differences ?? I have spend quite a while getting an exchange server setup for push email to my phone, I presume this will still work with the new rom ?
Can I revert back to the HTC rom if I don't like it ? Should I make a backup of the current image before I flash the new one ??
Thanks

Some differences
From what I have seen, there are some minor differences. the HTC "green" theme is not there, and there it a DOPOD specific theme instead. The comm manager is a difference colour, but the same functionaility. The Dopod rom also comes with "Voice Controller" software, and something called "CAM Agent".
Apart from that, no other difference I can see, apart from the GPS working!

post more impressions for GPS please

GPS after upgrade...
GPS works well for me. I'm using it with the TomTom navigator 6 software. Simple to configure, picked up a signal in under minute and so far seems to maintain around 3-6 satellites. It picked up satellite signals in the car, and even occasionally indoors!

Please can you tell me if there is the option to connect through WPA2 Cisco Leap protocol in the wifi features?
Thanks in advance

WPA2
Well, there is an option to connect to wireless networks using the WPA2 authentication (amongst others), but I don't know if that is "Cisco LEAP" specific.

When u add a wifi lan, u can choose WPA2 AES. In the next page there should be a pop up menu with EAP TYPE. If Leap is not supported u should see only the choice "PEAP" or "Smartcard".
Would you try and let me know?
Thank you very much for your help

Thanks all for your imput !
Any chance of a few screen shots of the phone page amd the commanager ??

Speed difference?
Any noticeable increase in video playback speed with this new ROM?
And what about during gameplay?
Has the touch screen slowdown issue been resolved?

WM5 WiFi

Hi guys and girls.
I finally plucked up courage to install WM5 and suprisingly, it worked like a charm! not one single problem
There is one cherry on the top that would be very nice if anyone can help.
On the today screen there is a nice little bluetooth icon in the bottom right hand corner; is there any way to get a wifi icon next to it instead if having to go into start > Settings > connections > WLAN to turn it on?
Appreciate any suggestions offered.
Cheers
J
can someone please send me the orginal wirelessmgr.exe file? i tried to load the wirelessmgr.exe from the universal and now i cant turn wireless on or off
Codiac, I have taken a hotkey (camera, I don't use that much anyway, but any key would do) and mapped that to WLAN_MAN. Works very nicely, but I hope there will be a fix for the dissappearing WLAN (and BT, even though that doesn't matter that much to me since I never turn off the unit when I'm using anything BT) in the near future.
I never thought of that works spot on now
Must remember in future to engage brain before fingers :?
Cheers Mastiff
J
I added the program into O2plus apps tab

Codiac... how did you get the bluetooth icon on the Today screen? I just upgraded to Mamaich's Patch 5 but I don't have a bluetooth icon
me too..i can't see the bt icon and sometimes i quicly need of it..how can i show it?
Read the Wiki about missing files, patches number 1: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_WM5_Patches_ChangeLog
This is wierd?!?
After I did the upgrade the nice little BT icon was on the today screen, never bothered with it because BT is useless. Read these posts and had a look to see if I could work out how it got there and it has dissapeared?!?
The only thing I can think of is that I accidentally uninstalled one of the patches downloaded from wiki.
ill try and get it back on and let you know how I did it
Cheers
J
OOPs, sorry should have read Mastiffs post properly first
Mastiff is right, you need to install ba_wm5_fix_v1
Cheers

Well I've installed the BA_wm5 patch, but still have wifi problems. On 2003 my BA used to turn on wifi every time i turned on the unit, great as i have wifi at home and at work, now it always defaults to off and I have to switch it on every time I've turned off my BA. It's driving me nuts as I use email via wifi at work all day. Is there any way to get the wifi always on? Please....?
That's what I've been *****in' about for more than a week now...
Surely there's a way to default wifi to on, here's hoping somebody works it out before i downgrade to 2003.
i douwngraded to wm2003se..wifi on wm5 don't work at all..dosn't connect on my AP (on wm2003se is very fast)..so..because i need it i'll wait a more stable version..perhaps backlight regolation will be fixed
Backlight regulation was fixed more than a week ago! And I don't really know why you have WiFi problems, I have only one problem, that it defaults to off.

The default to off is the problem. I use my BA for work only. At home I use my wifi network to access work schedule appointments, and when in the office I use their wifi hotspot. At present i am having to tun on wifi realistically around a hundred times a day to update my joblist.
Is there a way to add any sort of utility to startup to turn it on at power on maybe?
I've tried everything to make my WiFi work but no luck.
However, I think I'll hold on because I really like WM5. I've ran through all the registry setting but nothing I've tried so far has made a difference. Enev tried downgrading the encryption settings on my MIMO. Furthermore, when I take off SSID broadcast, my BA seems to be able to see the AP but still fails to connect.
It's really annoying because I like to synchronize Avantgo over WiFi and most importantly use my BA when I'm in the bathroom doing you know what. Somebody please help!
Hey Mastiff, what security settings have you got enabled on your Access Point?

Cytrax, did you install activesync 4 to upgrade your rom? You can't sync by wifi on activesync 4 at all, they've removed the option from the program!
cytrax, I have 64 kbit WEP and MAC access control since the 128 kbit WEP was slow to access with another CE unit I have.
Thanks for that info, mastiff.
OK, this is wierd! At this particular point, WiFi works on my BA. However, it only works when I'm at work. The settings configured on Work AP is very similar to what I've got at home. The only difference is I use Netgear MIMO at home while Buffulo Airstation is deployed at work. This is really freaking me out (well, not exactly, but it's annoying).
I also tried with an old Belkin AP last night but didn't get any luck. I think I'm going to try 64bit WEP once I reach home. Watch this space!

Is it possible to make BlueAngel compatible with WiFi 802.11G standard?

Is it possible to make BlueAngel compatible with WiFi 802.11G standard? Or it's a hardware problem?
Possible - with SK Tools, menu System tweaks http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?sktools/m_feat.html
Wow.. this is great news. I am trying the demo now
EDIT: I can confirm this works! This is great as the wifi in my house only works on G!

Congratulations. But not under BlueAngel. It is not 1 April.
This tweak sets:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms]
"Dot11SupportedRateMaskG"=dword:00000008
TNETWLN is a Wizard driver, not BlueAngel (there is tiacxwln)
String "Dot11SupportedRateMaskG" can not be found nowhere(!) in the ROM
Why not try to create the key?
I would try it myself, but my network is BG atm. When I get around to it I'll switch it over to G only and test it.
Still, nice find if it works

What for? Would you try to add key [HKLM\CPU]Speed="1300MHz"?
It is only parameter. Something (dll, exe, etc) have to read it and use. Nothing is interested in reading this parameter. Nothing has the capabilities.
In other words the wlan driver for BA is not capable of this hack, and the hardware is not capable to reach G speed
Yeah, just checked. Doesn't change anything.
I can switch my network over to G only mode and my BA will still show the network SSID, regardless of whether the "hack" is enabled or not. It will not connect however no matter what you try. As soon as I put it back into BG and performed a soft rest it connected instantly.

TMUK Compact IV to HTC 2.03 ROM - connection settings?

Hi,
Before anyone shouts, I have searched the forums and read hundreds of posts but haven't found the answer! I have a stock TMUK MDA Compact IV which is, to say the least, slow and unstable. It's totally stock at the moment and I want to flash it to the latest official HTC Diamond 2.03 ROM as there are plenty of reports of speed and stability improvements.
Question - will the GPRS/3G connection settings (and any other network-specific setup I need) automatically detect or will I have to manually configure them after flashing? The TMUK stock ROM hides the connection details so I can't make a note of them - I therefore want to be sure I have all the details I need before I blow the old ROM away!!
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Tim
I didn't use the latest official ROM, but the previous one automatically detected the network setting after 1 or 2 minutes of being "on air". You get a notification that network settings have been found, and it will ask if you want to install them.
So i assume the new ROM does exactly the same
Hi,
Do a search on Modaco, they have a cab that gives you the T-Mobile settings.
Regards
the rom will automatically pic up that its needs settings so you select the correct option then you accept the settings and all will be fine.im on TMUK with a Diamond and everything is sweet.
Upgraded fine - a few more questions!
Upgraded fine thanks everyone. I had to select my network and it automatically set up the connections. One strange thing is that if I selected "T-Mobile" the next screen of the wizard had a different network name listed! Seems that the names and connection details are mixed up, I had to go through each network and find the one with T-Mobile's settings behind it. Think it was "Fresh" in the end!
Anyway, a couple of strange things I've noticed and wondered if anyone could help. Apart from these, so far the ROM is a big improvment on the old one.
1 - My GMail account will only download over the air if I set the account to connect using my GPRS connection - if I leave it on "The Internet" it fails to connect even though the connections are configured so that "The Internet" links to my GPRS connection! Opera works fine, so it's a messaging issue.
2 - The main problem - I can't get WMWiFiRouter to install! I had it working fine on my old ROM, but when I run the cab to install now it just sits with the progress bar on zero with the rotating "busy" symbol forever. Other cabs install fine! Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tim
Never mind!
Never mind, looks like the cab file was corrupted somehow. Copied back from my PC and it installed fine!
Thanks,
Tim

how to get gps working on wm6 side

hi! i am new at the forum and i have been looking how to get my shift fully operable. i have also liberated the wm6 side so i have now a full wm operative sistem. but when i have tried to connect to the built-in gps with google maps, it doesn't give me any signal, it doesn't get any satellite. i don't know how to configure the gps to have it working, i don't even know what's the com port of the gps neither the baud rate of it, so i cant get it working. do someone know how to fix that problem? is there any program or something that brings functionality to gps?
thanks for the help!
you need to flash any rom from this forum. Liberating is not enough.
And you need to applys HardSPL first.
any side effects?
Hi, thanks for the answer. i have been looking for "cooked roms" and i've found some ones. but i am not quite sure of doing the process of hard-spl and rom flashing... I wondered if doing this would eliminate some functions of the shift, like mobile internet sharing with vista or backlight luminance level misfunction... shared functions, for short. do you know if that is possible?
thanks for the help!

i m using Garmin GPS as well, and it just work fine for me after i flashed the roms, at first after i flashed it, same problem occur, but after when i checked and look into detail, actually it's working, just the signal strength icon in the Garmin GPS isn't increasing and always remains in the red signal, maybe you can check out with it first after updating ur QuickGPS and try it at the outdoor... hope this helps...
Just want to share my Garmin in HTC TP. Having trouble to begin with after upgrade my device from TyTN II
Use the radio 1.12.25.19
Open the Garmin and change the Remote GPS to GPS Intermediate Driver. This solved the missing signal bars on the main screen problem.
On the main screen just click the signal bars - then click the "Disable" button
Click the "GPS Intermediate Driver" and then click "Enable" button.
Enable Advance GPS
Hope helps - just my 2 cents
radio after rom
i dont know if this pertains to you, but your talking about flashing a rom and gps not working afterward, so it might. Every time i flash a new rom my gps stops working. As soon as i reflash the same radio i already had, everything kicks back in and works just fine. I dont know if it actually helps to reflash the radio every time you flash a rom but it seems to help.

After flashing radio you should check whether in Settings/System/External GPS/Access is checked "Manage GPS automatically". If not, check it.
There's a hotfix for this in HTC Website.
