you need to figure out which file makes the pop-up noise, then just make a wav file of whatever you want with the same name and put in the same folder (prolly the "windows" folder) so that it overrights the old file with that name and you should be set....really not that hard..
::EDIT:: you even already know the name of the file...Notify.wav

You may need to talk louder. I think he has hearing problem (note the !! at every sentence). You need to talk to him like this:
prishiin!!
How many files do you think 'this file' refers to!! How many files have been mentioned in this entire thread!! What possibly 'this file' can be refering to!! When you don't understand the suggestions, try to think!! Instead of using your limited brain power to think that others don't understand your problem!! Save it to think about the suggestions!! Ok!!
Do you need me to tell you which phone you need to replace this file!!
Hint: Don't do that on your house land-line phone!!
And, get yourself a hearing aid!!
And do not multi-post!! It irritates others!!

lol, as funny as that was....dont be too mean..you have to remember theres a language barrier here (since it seems to be charging him in rupees im assuming hes in india) so maybe hes not as dumb as he comes across.... just a thought

Yes you can. However, you'll need to get a better file manager such as Resco Explorer. The built-in file explorer can't do it.

Change pop-up dialogue sound? not avail. in sounds & notifications menu

I'm trying to change the sound WM uses for the pop-up dialogue (for instance, you install a program and a dialogue pops up and says you have to restart... that sound). I've gone through every option available in Settings/Sounds & Notifications, but there's no entry for it. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

This is what I did (altho the results of the following steps are entirely YOUR responsibility):
1. MAKE BACKUPS! From Activesync, "Explore" the phone. i.e. in a Windows Explorer window.
2. Dbl-click "My Windows Mobile Device". Dbl click the "Window" subdirectory.
3. Sort by filetype.
4. Navigate to where ".wav" files are.
5. Select all the ".wav" files and copy them all en masse to a separate directory on your PC. (all the hidden system wav files should also have been copied in the process).
6. play all the wav files until you find the one that irritated you the first time.
7. open a registry editor of your choice on your WM device. (I use SKTools)
8. search for the file name from step 6.
9. Try the full name plus extension first. If no result, then try the name without the extension.
10. Replace instances of the filename with the wav filename of your choice (I assume you have one). If there was an extension in the first place, include the extension as well.
The outcome of all the above is your responsibility. The steps worked for me, and if you are familiar with how to edit WM registry items, the steps should work for you as well.
good luck.
Thanks for the reply skenobi. Reading your response, it occured to me that once I find the wav files WM is using, I could probably just replace the sound I don't like with a renamed copy of the one I do (i.e., replace Alarm2 with a copy of Alarm4, renamed to Alarm2). I think I'll try this out first, before I buy a registry editor.
Thanks again!

That might work, altho (if I'm not mistaken) some wav files are in ROM, i.e. you can't rename/replace it.
Your mileage may vary, as they say.
Good luck.

Not sure how to install Glass Flo 3d?

I saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460924
and really dig this theme, but am pretty new and have no Idea how to install it on my phone. can anyone help
i think you will just need to unzip the files in to the windows directory and then soft reset

some needs to make this a theme or cab

OR you could just copy the files in the windows directory like 80% of the tf3d themes out there. Do you realize what it takes to make a .tsk or a .cab
@kd8dns..i was just trying to make it easier for those who dont know how to copy the files in the windows directory..your right i dont know what it takes to make a cab but i also wasnt asking you to make it..im sure their are some people who dont mind making a cab for it and helping some of these people who dont know how to copy the files..so sorry if i offended you

yes. you have to over write the old manila files
So, I don't know if I did this right. but it sorta worked I just think I'm missing stuff. I placed the glassflo.zip file in a file I made on my data card called theme. then I renamed the glassflo.zip file to glassflo.theme , then I went into touchflo 3d config set the path and installed. seems to be working, but my question now is what do I do with the rest of the manila files that were the second download from the link I posted above. You see, I unzipped them to the windows folder, which I think was a mistake. but I'm not sure. this is where I get lost. I'm sure they do something or why would they be there right. Thanks for any help. I really appreciate those of you with more experience with this stuff, taking the time to help us newbies out. also will this work better in the windows file instead of my sd card?
Rather than opening up a thread, it would've just been better to post in that thread for more exposure.

Sorry but this did not work for me.....
Do i have to make any other changes????Because i replaced the dll and i made the soft res....but unfortunately nothing....
are you use wm6.5 ?
Yes i use 6.5 and specific this ROM :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=506533&highlight=original
Can not overwrite the original, even using Totalcommander.
what gives?
anybody knows how to cook this into rom ?
Not able to overwrite. The file in Windows is Read Only. Any idea??
Yeah, my Diamond volume is too low with the new ROM, but I can't overwrite that DLL no matter what.
Can someone make a cab or something?
Update: What seemed to work was rename in Windows and then copy the new file with Totalcommander on the cellphone.
HOWEVER, while the new volume manager shows up, it's still not quite loud enough for me.
Could you add just a tad more, in case I am in a noisy environment?

HTC TYTN ii

Hi,
Ive just recently got this phone from my brother, and i am adding videos etc to it successfully.
I want a good alarm tone. I have converted an MP3. file to .wav . I then added it into the windows folder. I click the main clock, click the little bell, and open the drop down list for alarm tone.
As soon as i click the tone i added to the phone, it automatically switches back to the default tone.
How do i get my normal tone, because the other ones just wont wake me up.
cheers
Have attached GAlarm it's not the newest version as it's now a pay for app, but it's far more reliable than the Windows Alarm and also very easy to set up.
Hi thanks. How do i install this?
Sorry, kinda new to things like this. I havnt bought the phone off my brother yet, so dont want to mess anything up by installing it wrong.
Help is appreciated

Unzip it on computer you will find a .cab place onto phone via async or cardreader, then with File Explorer on phone find the .cab click on it, install to device memory, in start menu will be GAlarm click it, it will promp restart, restart phone.
Now you can set up alarm
Thanks
I unzipped it to pc. opened the file, and there is another zip folder. Do i just unzip that again, drag the 1 cab file across through async, and it will install?
EDIT: Sorry for repost.
There isnt a .cab file in there when i have extracted the 2nd zip.
There is just a load of windows files ending in .152 etc
Also an xml file. Is this what you mean?

The second file is a .cab it's just that it's a compressed file so shows up as same looking, the file you extracted from original .zip do not unzip it place on phone and follow above directions

Yes yes im very stupid. I just saw it as another zip file. Looked at windows bar @ bottom and it said GAlarm.cab i was like...... .cab .
Installing it now. Shall tell you if it works Thanks
Update: Going through installation process now. Said it may not function properly due to it being made for a previous version of windows mobile. Carried on anyway. Loaded up app and forced restart. Booted it up and got another error. Booted it up for 3rd time and created my first alarm .
P.S Is there anyway of getting just my alarm on the main screen, without the added buttons? (Contacts, ringtones) etc.
Sorry for spam.
All done and added.
All i can say is thank you very much. Youve been a great help to me and im sure to come back when ive bought the phone, and feel more confident with installing new programs.
thanks

Copy and Paste not the same as Push?

I didn't feel like plugging my phone into the computer so I emailed myself an apk file (arctu's Mms.apk) because for some reason...it seems to revert back to stock every reboot...
Anyway, I didn't have any terminal apps so I used Root Explorer to copy then paste over the existing apk. didn't work. Why not? Is there a something different about copy/paste?
If you didn't say you mounted the partition I can only assume it was not mounted as r/w and still at r/o.
copy/paste - visual representation of cp
push - pushing files from computer to phone
They are not the same.

the mms app didn't overwrite. But it could have been user error. I'm using Enom's ROM and didn't have the Community Mms Mod checked...so maybe if I had done that first...it would have worked.
Pushing is taking a file from the computer to copy and paste/overwrite the existing file on the phone. What's the difference where the file is being copied over from? Are you sure about what you were trying to explain?

k?
I didn't try and explain anything (in this thread at least)?
Either way, yes push literally "pushes" a file to a specified location. However that file needs to be written and if the file system is mounted as read only you will get errors.
If it didn't work you must have received an error message (in root explorer for example), what was that message? If you don't get an error message and the file is still not being written then get a better file manager (ES File Explorer).
The suggestion above by 'evilkorn' was to make sure the file system is in read/write mode before you copy the file over... you can do this in Root Explorer or ES File Explorer.
If your file system is in r/w AND you still don't get an error message AND it still doesn't work then I would try an ADB push as a last resort and if that didn't work, reflash and start from step one I think...

Because that was your question in the title, which I answered, they are different terms for different things. You can't push a file on your phone to your phone, you copy it (cp).
You still didn't answer my question... It's hard to help someone when the suggestions fall on deaf ears and all you get is reverb and static back.

LoL. You gotta ask a question first before I can answer it. You made assumptions, didn't ask questions. LoL. Anyway, I wasn't trying to crawl under your skin. But maybe next time you can read the OP in addition to just reading the title of the thread? Usually, details are given to accompany the title of the thread on the first post. Either way, I guess I wasn't detailed enough. Thanks for your feedback, tho, appreciate it.
@djmcnz - Sorry, my error in quoting the wrong person. Thanks for you explanation, also.
So, to summarize...Push and Copy/Paste should produce the same outcome, right? Cool...like I said earlier...it was my error in not knowing that I had to use the Spare Parts option in Enom's ROM to enable Community MMS.
I use root explorer all the time when I can't use a computer to use adb. It works fine. Usually if its the system partition you have to click the icon that says r/o and it changes to r/w. This will allow you to write files to the partition. Then from what I noticed a reboot usually fixes any issues of stuff not working.
