Until the new version of WMDC is released with fixes, I suggest you use XP computer to do upgrade.
New WMDC v.6.1 coming soon: http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/w...ows-mobile-device-center-6-1-coming-soon.aspx
The XP computer needs to have Active Sync 4.5 installed. Reboot xp computer before starting, to clear any existing syncs. Delete current sync profile on Trin. Connect to pc via usb as usual, let ASync run, but cancel when it tries any profile, you are left as: Guest sync
You should be connected now. Upgrade rom file should be extracted in explorer, e.g., so you can see all files. Run RUU wrapper or ROMUpgrade exe, depending on rom you're using.
If you go through process, & get error message. Don't disconnect Trinity. Close that page & start again. It should work the 2nd time. When it's working, you will see the boot screen, color bars & at bottom usb notation. (If it says serial, you'll have to, unhook usb connection, reboot computer, re-sync to guest status, & start again.) Then the update screen on Trin will show % bar, if process is working correctly.
If you still get error message, then check Trinity Wiki info as rom upgrade problem FAQ is there. I'll assume your Trin is unlocked. Check boot screen on Trin to see boot loader info. Wiki explains how.
Also: Use SSPL software Bootloader solution from "Des" - this loader ignores the CID and the upgrade will work also with wrong CID. See also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293632
If you still have problem, come back here & give info:
1. What rom is currently on Trin? What radio?
2. Did you buy an unlocked Trin? Exactly, what device do you have?
3. What wm6 rom do you want to upgrade to?

Bootloader Screen

Hello,
I need some expert help to get my XDA IIs out of bootloader.
I attempted to update ROM and got stuck in Bootloader.
I followed directions posted on this forum to the letter:
Make sure your device or cradle is connected directly to your computer (so no hubs!)
Disconnect the device from the PC, or remove from cradle
Perform a "hard reset" on the device (screen will flicker but nothing will change)
Kill the BaUpgradeUt.exe program on your PC by using Window's Task Manager (CRTL+ALT+DEL)
Kill the wcesscom.exe program on your PC by using Window's Task Manager (this is the ActiveSync application)
Place the device back in it's cradle
Restart the upgrade program from your PC (double-click BaUpgradeUt.exe)
Still No JOY !!! Any suggestions ?
Solution to Upgrade..?
Hi, have you looked at this properly..?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_1.42.00_Upgrade
Or - If you're trying to update to WM5..
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_5.1.1700_build_14343_Upgrade
Then you should be ok.. Take a breather, start again..
Let me know how you get on..?
Cheers,
Stuck in Bootloader Screen
Mr Philly,
Thank you very much for your help, however I followed the links you gave me, and still have no joy.
When I run the BaUpgradeUt.exe I get a "connection error" saying check the physical connection between the phone and the computer. Also, BaUpgradeUt seems to close active sync once launched. The program then freezes unless I reopen active sync. I then get the connection error.
When I run the MaUpgradeUt.exe I get to the upgrade screen telling you that you are upgrading from ... to ... however the fields listing the various ROM versions etc.. are blank. If I click on upgrade, I get an error 150 saying "not designed for your device, please get proper ROM upgrade utility."
Any new suggestions for me ?
Missing my XDA very much as I use it a lot.
Thanks
I figured out the problem. It seems that the PDA was not responding to the ROM upgrade because the SD Card was in place. Origionally I thought this to be of no consequence as I only have a "dummy" card in the slot. I was wrong. Once I removed the Card everything went as it was supposed to.
Stuck on bootloader
Hi all,
I copyed in fakt i did cut some files from my BA and moved to Storage Card (1Gb), and it restart byhimself and i am stuck on the bootloader. ??? Shall i rom Upgrad it ?

Need help recovering after botched ROM flash

I was attempting to flash my ROM to wm6 crossbow, I used Lokiwiz 02b to CID unlock my G3 wizard. Then, I attemped to flash the rom using the RUU. The Shelltool .exe never finished flashing the rom (even after 1.5 hours), so I disconnected the USB and tried to re-sync Windows Mobile Device Center (using Vista 32) as per the directions, but it would not detect the phone. I then entered bootloader mode and tried to run the RUU that way, but vista crashed the program if no sync connection is found. So, I downloaded the latest t-mobile ROM, and flashed the phone through bootloader (curiously the flash seemed to work using t-mo's RUU) and it installed to 100%. However, the phone will not get past the white splash screen. This is what it displays:
IPL 2.26
SPL 2.26
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.26.10.2
I tried to un-rar the tmobile exe to a new folder and replaced the nk.nbf file with the file from the crossbow ROM. The t-mo RUU wouldnt read it properly and it crashed. Now the phone is sitting on my counter with it's battery pulled out for fear it mat discharge completely. Since i can get into bootloader mode with the "USB" display at the bottom, I know the device isn't bricked, but what can I do to get it up and running and hopefully flashed to wm6 crossbow? Thanks for any help!

Well Friend I hate to say it but Using Vista is your problem... The drivers in WMDC are different from those of activesync and thus Vista cannot talk to your phone in bootloader.
Follow this thread here:
Updated!!(10/20/2007) UPGRADE YOUR PHONE WITH WINDOWS VISTA!!! PROVEN METHOD!
Once you complete the steps in that thread, flash the Official T-Mobile Rom. I will be online for the rest of the night so I will walk you through everything if you would like me to. My AIM, Yahoo, and MSN messenger addresses are all at the top of every one of my posts.
First off, let me thank you for your help, as well as the time you have put in the community helping people like me. I had updated the driver before, but I guess several attempted flashed had overwritten the driver. Just now, I followed the link you gave me, updated the drivers, and flashed the T-mobile 2.26 ROM. The problem still remains. The RUU goes to 100%, shows me the finish/exit screen, mu wizard restarts, but hangs at the white boot screen and does not go any further.
Anyone? Need to get this phone up quick, as I am starting a new job soon and need the capabilities. BTW, i'm going to put XP on this laptop in dual-boot and see if I can get the t-mobile ROM to load fully using XP.

If you can manage that, you will be set. All you have to do is create a hard drive partition and install xp to that partition.(from what I know anyway)
OK, i'm gonna try that (my internet is dropping every 5-10 secs, so it'll take a little time) I do have one question though- Last time I used Loki's unlocker, I unlocked the SIM, then the CID unlocker. After the CID unlocker, it locked me out of the phone. The OS wouldnt load unless I provided an unlock code. Then i reflashed it, then the problems started. I think i didn't have it CID unlocked properly. Plus having my miniSD in the slot probably didnt help things either. I've read the directions several times, and I dont see what i'm doing wrong. Could you maybe shed some light on what i'm doing wrong? Thanks!
EDIT: Also, I forgot to mention that I tried to do a hard-reset (hold wireless manager + voive command buttons + soft reset) and when you press the send button, it tells me unable to format FAT volume or something like that. Upon reading around, it seems like i'm having the exact same problem as this poster: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338315

Although, many have successfully flashed using vista, but I'll suggest in your condition flash through WinXP. Download the official carrier's Rom from it's website.
1. Disconnect your phone from the usb cable, shut down any firewall, disable any Anti virus,Reboot your PC.
2. On your Desktop PC, open Microsoft ActiveSync, then go to File >Connection Settings >Remove the Selection from “Allow USB Connection with this desktop computer”
3. On your PC Open windows Task Manager...>Tab Processes...>wescomm.exe...>End process
4. Power off the phone completely (Not stand-by,shut off completely),or you may take the battery out for few seconds
5. Make sure your phone is not Connected to the PC via USB cable and remove the dummy Sdcard or mini-Sd card
6. Get your phone into Bootloader mode (Multicolor screen) by pressing camera button + Power on button
7. Reconnect your phone to the Desktop PC using the USB Cradle and the Charger MUST be Connected to the Cradle (Be sure that your battery is charged over 70%)
8. "USB"will appear on the bottom of the screen of the Bootloader (Multicolor screen)
9. Run the Upgrade again and it will work fine without any problems.
10.Never use Bluetooth sync for the Upgrade
While upgrading, the ActiveSync program will not go on, however the upgrade is running. Please be patient when you're flashing your device, even if 98%. It can wait a little bit, 5 ~ 7 minutes.
Don't cancell the flash or get the phone off the usb cable till it confirms "Congratulations" or stops with an Error!!!
Hope it'll recover back to it's default status, good luck
I'm going to assume I don't have to CID unlock it until I want to switch from the T-mobile 2.26 ROM? I am about to install XP dual-boot shortly. I'll post my results when it's done. Thank you.

As long as you are going to keep T-Mobile 2.26 on your device or are restoring T-Mobile 2.26, you do not have to CID unlock but should you decide to change to another Rom, you will need to CID unlock.
Good luck on the dual boot. There is a detailed tutorial in my Signature if you would like to take a look at it. After I can restore my crashed laptop, I am going to take care of the dual boot also.(I have to do it again... )
I really want to put WM6 on my wizard, and customize it the way I want it. Do you have any favorite WM6 ROM? All day yesterday I spent trying to add a WinXP partition to my Vista laptop. Not fun. First, I shrank the only partition on the drive (where Vista is installed) using Disk management, the Diskpart.exe to create a new 2.5Gb partition to install XP on. I rebooted the labtop with a XP disk, and installed XP on the partition. After the laptop restarted the first time, it did not come back up (black screen, no CD activity), So I changed the boot options in BIOS to HDD, and the Vista partition responded with "Error loading operating system" on a black screen. So now, i've got a laptop with a corrupted Vista install, A partition with partially installed XP on it, a XP disk that just quits working, and my wizard is shot. Normally something I can deal with if I had my desktop, but unfortunately my entire house is packed up in storage, i'm living in a hotel, and the laptop and phone are all i've got. SO, against my better judgement, I went to the store and bought a Vista home basic upgrade DVD to fix my vista partition, and now i'm back on the net- and going to try anothe XP disk. Whew- what a pain in the ass.

It's better if you use 'PartitionMagic' software to create partition and install WinXp,as it has much advanced features as compared to built-in Disk Management. It also has the option to create a partition in the same one partition to install new OS.
I tried that first, too bad it doesnt work in Vista.
Woo Hoo!!! Success!!
Alright! I got it fixed! What I did:
1- Spent $42 on a CID unlocker from: http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m3000unlock.php
After i recieved the files from the via email (about 10 minutes) I ran their unlocker program with the file they emailed me. This CID unlocked the wizard.
2- I flashed button's ROM: http://rapidshare.com/files/18212239/CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe.html
I had to flash it twice until it showed a IPL/SPL of 1.01
3- Followed this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276963&highlight=splash+screen+freezing
(make sure you use a blank SD card, as it will require you to format the card to make it useable again after your'e done)
4- Remove battery, and restart phone, BOOM! Button's ROM works fine!
5- Now upgrade to any ROM you like (WM6 etc.)

[Q] unlock rom image for hp 6515

Hi
I have a cingular hp 6515a . I cannot unlock it.I need an unlock hp 6515 rom image.please help me.
Unlock hp 6515
Thats very easy.
1: Download the (upgrade and unlocked) ROM from HP's website
2: HardReset your phone, but leave it in the first welcome screen (before the align screen and so)
3: Connect the phone to your PC, and wait for the connection to be established.
4: Run the downloaded Upgrade package (from HP), the phone will show a bootloader-screen.
Sometimes, the phone will not accept the upgrade program.
In that case do the following, but nothing else!
1: Disconnect the phone and soft reset it (it will come back into the bootloader)
2: Close the HP-upgrade program with taskmanager on your PC
3: Reconnect the phone to the PC
4: Rerun the HP ROM upgrade program.
Now your phone will show its upgrade status. It will take a while (about 20 minutes or so), but afterwards you will have a clean unlocked 6515.
I did this with several locked phones (especially Vodafone) from international sources.
Above will work fine, on every PC with Active-Sync (in my case 4.5) installed.
I assume, you will have a backup, made by the SIP-backup program on one of your memory cards. You can restore it after you've upgraded your phone
SKU error,, did not work
Unlock HP 6515
Did you use the rom you download here: HP 6515 ROM upgrades ?
I did it again today, but with a soft reset of the 6515 and shutting down the upgrade program with taskmanager. Do NOT Hard-reset the device or reboot your computer! Before restarting the upgrade, the computer has to reconnect to the 6515 although it is in the bootloader mode.
My hw6515 is dead after the upgrade to 1.21
Hi guys,
I tried my cingular hw6515a to update the ROM to 1.21 unlocked ROM, it went successful but when booting it shows the initial setup and it hung on the second step "Pop-up Menus" and it doesnt show up any next button. What should i do now, please help me..
Thanks a lot in advance.
Has anyone managed to get this to work on a 6515 "A"? When I tried it I got an error message that said something like "Incorrect device SKU". I then decided to try upgrading to 1.20 which went smoothly. However, I still get the same SKU error message when trying to upgrade to 1.21. Is there a way to force it into bootloader mode? Anyone know some trick that I'm missing?

Hi there,
I've tried upgrade from 1.04 to 1.21WWE, but the upgrade process died on 12.5%.
I use the original rom upgrade from HP with ActiveSync 4.5 on XP.
I've tried many times to restart the upgrade process, but it fails on .1%.
Cann someone tell me where I can find the original 6515.bin. I've try to gogole it but with no success.
Thanks in advance.

So how can we solve this problem?
Unlock and language change- this is how it worked for me!
This method worked for for an iPaq hw6515 after many long nights, but may be good as well for others:
Do this only from an Windows XP OS.
Make sure you have up to date ActiveSync from Microsoft!
To Unlock,
Just reflash your iPaq with the THE SAME language from HP official support site: h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=501212&lang=en&cc=us &prodTypeId=215348&prodSeriesId=501209&taskId=1 35
Connect your PDA to the computer and check it is in state connected in ActiveSync.
Download the current language ROM from the provided link, unpack, , and follow the instructions.
This official tool will do everything for you!
When it completes (~30 minutes), your phone will be unlocked.
After that if you need to change the language, follow this instructions:
How to change the language in your iPaq:
Here is the detailed process completed, borrowed from Barr :
1. Download and extract BOTH current and desired ROM language pack from HP site to the computer. Unpack them to different folders.
2. Establishing connection with the computer, copy EnterBL.exe (from desired language ROM folder) to the mydocument folder of the PDA.
3. Run the EnterBL.exe from the PDA. (Now your PDA will go to Bootloader mode).
4. (before executing step 4, prepare for step 5 since step 5 will have to be executed right after step4). From your PC, start updating the current ROM by lunching hpRUU.exe of the current installed language of your PDA.
5. Right after step4, when it will start updating, copy all the data (*.nbf) files of desired/intendedlanguage ROM pack to the current ROM pack. (the Rradio.nbf may be skipped if the device is already unlocked).
6. At the end of copying, it might show an error message, press OK to ignore.
7. The phone will restart!

Big Problem?

I was performing the radio update on my MDAIII and now he hangs in the bootloader with USB in the upper middle und 2.08 in the under middle. All resets won`t bring it back to life. If I try to reinstall the update all I get is a blank message screen (update from version to version) in my Vista. How can I get out of there.
I did everything what was stated here
The original BAUpgradeUT won`t find my device. The MAUpgradeUt_noID.exe gives me the blank screen with the update from to screen.

I'm using a Vista PC.
After the Radio update to 1.15 the error described above is not to go away yet.
What to do, I'm nearly in tears.
Finally I got it back but with an old Romupdate from T-Online. Is there someone who got the QTC 9090 update (latest one)
That was fast..
im glad you solved your problem.
i think someone here has it.
just post what you need and make it as a title for others to read in the digest.
Im not a expert but is vista the problem??
Most likely.
Failed MDA II flash with vista notebook
Hello everybody,
I just read this thread in hope to find a solution for my problem, which is quite similar to the one described here initially.
I got a used MDA III with T_Mobile ROM. Since I'm a customer with O2, I wanted to change the ROM to O2 as well. I followed the directions given in an other thread here (don't have the link just now) and during the flashing, the flash application suddenly had no connection to my MDA III anymore. It was securely settled in its craddle an connected to my laptop via USB. Now my MDA III is stuck in Bootloader Mode with USB v2.07 displayed on the screen.
Each retry of installing either the O2 or the T_Mobile ROM now meet with the error 101: no connection. I read here that you managed to update successfully with a vista pc. Thus I wanted to ask, how you did that since I just don't seem to find the reason for the connection failing each time.
Here is what i tried to establish connection so far:
* disabled virus scanner & firewall
* unplugged the mda III and plugged it in again. It was recognized as a new device but that didn't help the connection issue
Could you please post what you did to make the update work under vista? Help would be greatly appreciated

Try on computer with Windows XP and kill activesynk (wcecomm.exe on taskmanager/processes)
Maybe it will work. If u cant flash O2 ROM try to use "MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe". On my Qtek 9090 allways flash using this APPS and allways work.
U can try too format device first, put it on candle and use "mtty1.42.exe". On XP, kill active sync, and open mtty1.42.exe and select port USB and put OK. Do "Enter" on command and should appear USB>. After this write Task 28. This will format all your PC. Try install SO after this. This command delete all files on PPC. I have attach files that you maybe need.
thankfor the tipp and sorry for my late reply. Since I have no XP PC available i tried the mtty1.42.exe on my vista notebook. When i run it however, it only lists com port 1-3, no usb port. Do i have to make a special configuration on vista for it to work?
Thanks in advance,

In vista i dont know...sorry for my late reply too.... in XP u must kill ActiveSync process called wincecom.exe. in vista, maybe u have to kill the Windows Mobile Device Center....i dont know...
Dont forget, put the Qtek 9090 in Boot Loader Mode (Pressing Power Button + Record Button + Reset), maybe will appear USB and u can format the device.
If this does not work, try on Windows XP....Find a friend with Windows XP and ask him to use his PC only to do that.
Maybe somebody in forum have the Windows Vista and can help u....
Sorry my terrible english....

[Q] HTC HD7 desaster mango update

Hi every one ! i have a HTC HD7 from T-mobile and i did the Mango beta update on it and i did not make a backup file, i have been trying to go back to the previous OS settings but all of the programs or ROM that i try running, can not see the phone connected to the computer. I get error 260, not one of ansar ROM can see my cell as been connected even though i check that it is and that active sync sees the phone as been plugged in and the drivers are installed. Can any one help me to do this down grade, please
you'll need to d/l a rom from ansthar, based on who your cell phone provider is.
Please, give some more info about your phone (OS version,Radio software version etc...).
You can find them on your phone (settings - about htc hd7 - more info).
Thanx
the phone is a T-mobile HTC HD7
OS 7661.WP7_5_Trial
(mojobld).20110607-1657 what is this?
Radio software version:5.51.09.11axxxxxxx09U
Firmwear revision number xxxxxxxxxxxx.531
you see i did use the windows phone support tool and i run the tool to its completion but the mango update did not install, than i downloaded a program called "provision" than i downloaded the zune 4.8 than the update started automatically and smoothly . i soon after deleted the window phone support tool thinking that i would not need it again, until i read that i need a back up to restore my phone if i wanted to install the mango update later. will i have downloaded just about every tool out there to restore my phone but when i run the tool it does not see the phone as been connected , i checked and i see the phone plug in my activesync so i was wondering that since mango is installed this programs do not see it since they where made for nodo. your help will be greatly appretiated , thanks in advance
Are you using the new Zune for Mango? cause the old zune won't recognise your phone
try this link Here
See if you can go back with zune... ALWays BAck Up!!
Ok. To what tfn wrote I say YES you should always make a backup and you can do it as it's explained on the link he provided.
For Your phone, since you dont have backup go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876451 and find RUU_Schubert_TMOUS_1.20.531.01_Radio_5.51.09.11a_2 2.31.50.09U_by_ansar.
Download it - this is original ROM for flashing your phone - it will take you back to 7004 version. Follow the instructions in ansars post.
This one worked for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101344 - here you can follow instructions for updating to NoDo and Mango.
Now some important thing...
1. When you are taking beckup you have to have Zune 4.7 installed (not 4.8)
2. You can also see my thread (it could be helpfull) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179095
I hope you will make it!
i will give this a try and thanks for the help
i guess i'm **** out of luck, i did everything as written on the post and I did manage to get the ChevronWP7. ChevronWP7 does not see the phone as been connected , i try the steps with zune4.7 and 4.8 and i get the same message the chevronwp7 can not connect to the phone, also when i run the Application Deployment throws an error stating that the phone is developer locked and i need to contact Microsoft for steps on how to unlock it .
I need some help..can someone with a T-Mobile US phone please list all regedit keys for the HD7. After screwing around with the regedit settings to enable the HD7 read as a storage device, this happened and is the cause for Zune or any other program to not read the phone.. thanks in advance. i need all regedit keys with values and exact name.

Did you get your phone to 7004 version with flashing?
If yes then:
1. send to your e-mail (which you have configured on your phone) chevron.cer in attachment
2. open that mail on your phone and tap on attacment
3. install cetificate
4. in settings on the phone turn on FLIGHT MODE
5. connect the phone to a computer and start Zune
6. run Chevronwp7.exe as administrator
7. check those 2 boxes and press unlock
DONE.
I just did it on mine hd7 (just to be sure).
No i could not do a thing, no one of the steps that you have recommended have work, all i get is an error message from every single software that the device is not connected so i cant do a thing . is like my phone is not connected and i get error. i get the same error weather i have zune 4.7 installed or 4.8 . i also get a message from Application Deployment : the device is pin locked or the device is developer locked , contact microsoft on how to unlock the device or go to a web address . I mite be missing some drivers or something
To downgrade, you need to boot into the bootloader first.
1) Power off the phone (while disconnected from USB)
2) Hold volume up and press the power button
3) Continue to hold volume up until you see the RGB screen
At this point it will say something like "Serial Mode"
4) Plug in USB
5) Wait until it says something like "USB Mode" (you may need to install drivers on your PC, they're available via windows update, so you don't need to go searching for them)
At this point, you can run ROMUpdateUtility.exe, and it should succeed.
EDIT:
You only need to do this if downgrading via the RUU. To restore a backup via Zune, this is unnecessary.
The only program that seems to see the hd7 connected to the computer is zune4.8 if I install 4.7 it just does not see the phone connected. I got a windows XP tower hat I'm thinking to try all this steps and see if I can do it, actually do all the software I downloaded would work in windows XP?
Try the steps that I mentioned. If Zune opens, close it.
I had the exact same issue that you are, and this is how I was able to revert to a earlier version.
