GB_SOFT GPRS auto-disconnect - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

when i had the MDA wizard i used a program (or setting) GB_SOFT; it disconnects your GPRS automatically depending on what you set it for.. anyways, it worked on my MDA, but it doesn't work on the wing.. like all the programs i have it's made for WM5, but this is the only program that doesn't work.. any suggestions?
Thanks,

Well what does the program do and maybe we can suggest other apps that do work with WM6?

GB_SOFT is installed as a setting.. it let's automatically disconnect from the GPRS connection after you've been connected for x minutes; it isn't disconnecting.

GPRS connect link in WM5?

Hi everyone,
I love my new MDA device, but there is one thing I miss about my old device. In addition to having a "connect GPRS" link in my WM2003 pocket pc phone (HP iPAQ h6315), there was also a link that said "Turn on Wi-Fi". Now on my current device (MDA), both links are missing when I click on the "G" (or "E") icon. It only says, "To connect to either the Internet or work, set up a new connection in Settings." ... as if I never set up ant connections in the first place.
I can do without the "Turn on Wi-Fi" link though, because I can turn that on by pressing the Comm Manager button, then turning on the Wi-Fi from that screen. I can't however, turn on GPRS using that screen. I have to go into Settings >> Connection >> Manage Existing Connections >> then tap-n-hold on the GPRS connection and tap "Connect".
If anyone knows of any registry tweaks to fix this, or at least a convenient workaround (like the ability to place a shortcut in the Start menu that accomplishes this, etc), that would be great!
I tried downloading RegistryWizard and playing with the GPRS-related settings there, but none of those helped.
My current device is: T-Mobile MDA (USA)
Current ROM: 2.24 custom ROM, found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=304927#304927
open the internet application(eg.PIE) directly and the GPRS will connect automatically .
to disconnect , simply press and hold down the on-hook key for more than 3 seconds.
Thanks, but I am already aware of that... also that I can use the e-mail to connect if I choose the Send/Receive option. But neither method is really that great if I want to make a GPRS connection for a program other than IE or e-mail.
Another method of connecting GPRS manually that would be nice, is in the Comm Manager. The Data Services button there is only enabled if the GPRS connection is already active, then pressing that link will end it. It would be great if that link was always enabled to allow you to connect/disconnect using only that link, much like the Wi-Fi link (also in Comm Manager) operates.
Anyone know how to do that?
Any have solution . Ihave similar problem like ingersoj.thx
nice query
I do miss that function from windows 2003se
Id love to have a connect gprs button in the same place as the disconnect button in the drop down and for the life of me I cant remember the reg change to accomplish it.
sign me in...
... i would also be interested in having this registry tweak.
i would also like this...
I want to be able to connect to the internet without opening up ie for programs like java gmail, and spb weather...
Sorry guys, but why do you disconnect in first place?
My GPRS connection is always on and I don't have that issue.
This is useful in cases that GPRS is charged. Has anyone found a solution?
Thanks
although you may pay for GPRS, when there are no apps using it, traffic will be 0 and therefor 0 cost. But, I guess battery life will be worse with GPRS on?? opinions?
I'm confused here, I have all kinds of apps which need to connect to internet. All are setup to do this if needed (and start GPRS). Don't know why I need GPRS running if I have no app who's using it.
Please enlighten me..

WM6- IE and Messaging won't connect during phone call...

Before everyone cries "duh, of course GPRS doesn't work during a call!" let me say I'm not talking about GPRS/EDGE.
With PDAViet4, I was surprised today to discover that IE and Messaging wouldn't connect with wi-fi while I was on the phone. It used to with WM5.
Weird data points for diagnosing: Netfront and QMail (3rd party browser and e-mail clients) work with wi-fi while on the phone, so it's not a "port" issue, and IE can connect to my DSL modem and wireless router (192.168.x.x addresses work!) but if I try anything on the 'net I get "locating" forever, then when I hang up the phone, it connects!
Can anyone confirm this behavior and/or suggest a fix?
How are Messaging and IE set to connect to the net?

I use "My Work Network" for both settings in Connections ("programs that connect to the internet should use" and "connect to private network should use"), and have tried setting Messaging to both "Work" and "Internet."
I create a GPRS dial-up connection in "My Work Network", so everything falls back to GPRS/EDGE when wi-fi isn't on or available.
It all works as it should in WM5 regardless of phone status, and works in WM6 unless I make a phone call!
Weird. I don't really need web access often while on the phone, but I'm just trying to work out the WM6 "bugs" if possible!
Thanks!
I wasn't able to connect as well.
This is related to PdaViet4. Wish someone could post a fix...so far no luck for me..

Are we sure it's related to PDAViet4 or all Crossbow ROMs? Anyone with a different ROM want to see if IE works over Wi-Fi when on the phone?

My only problem is live messenger wont connect with PV4. IE is fine with all roms for me.
FWIW, IE and messaging are now working for me over Wi-Fi during phone calls. I don't know what I did if anything, but it worked.
Now if only the random power ups would stop! ;-)

WiFi in Wizard - connection problems even with strong signal

Hello.
I've got HTC Wizard (Era MDA Vario) (Era is T-Mobile in Poland) with Crossbow Underground ROM. It's a very good phone at all but i still reach problems with WiFi. Even when I'm 30 cm from wifi router (Linksys WRT-300N), when I turn the WiFi on, it can't connect to my network. When i go to "Network Cards" menu and select Connect manually, Wizard connects almost always. Can I set my Wizard to connect automatically to my network when I turn WiFi on? It could connect automatically when I had very old 1.XX original ROM.
My current Radio ROM is Cingular 2.25.11, i've already tried 2.47.11. Anybody has this problem or know how to solve it? Maybe it's just a simple registry change?
Yours sincerely,
kasok
i also have a problem like that
mine connects automatically however, it losts connection after 10 sec. than it doesn't connect anymore. after soft-reset i can connect again
i'm using molski v3.3 radio 2.19

IE Cannot Browse Internet via GPRS

Installed Opera and it works fine.
For some reason, IE doesnt seem to use my GPRS connection to connect to the internet. If I enable Wifi, it works as well.
I noticed this trouble after flashing the rom to Dutty's TouchFlo AT&T beta 2. IE displays "Locating" in the status bar. After a couple of minutes I get the pop up message "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later."
I changed my network setting to use the same GPRS provider for both internet and private networks.
I can active sync with my exchange server. I can get weather updates. I can RDP my exchange server. All signs of internet connectivity are present.
I can live with Opera, but it beats me why and where in the registry is this set.
I have googled and researched on the net, most i found was a registry setting that pointed to the user agent. but i later found out that it wasn't necessarily causing the issue. It just instructed the site that you were a mobile device and too spit out a mobile page if available.
Your help is appreciated!
Update
Ok this issue is resolved when i reverted to the original HTC Kaiser ROM...dont know why this happens only with dutty roms.
Giving Custel Roms a shot to see if this is still an issue
IE Cannot Browse Internet via GPRS/3G
I have exactly the same issue with my HTC 8525 Cingular with the original WM 6 ROM from HTC Web Site.
Any ideas?
Thanks!!!

I'm kinda in this boat as well, it works 1/2 the time on my stock AT&T Tilt ROM. I have noticed that if I do a soft reset, it will normally work.

Call your carrier and ask if there are any reports with GPRS/3G access at the area where you have problems. Sometimes a faulty cell transmitter can cause this.

I'm reasonably sure it's the phone, happens at home, happens at work, happened on vacation in both San Antonio and South Padre Island.
From what we have heard on here for US settings you may to disable 'Use Proxy settings' for your connection. That may help.
IE Cannot Browse Internet ...
so sorry guys but i may be posting this under an inappropriate post...
but my problem here is that i cannot browse Internet via active sync USB connection. it is giving me an error saying "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later".. this is strange but i was able to browse before. this happened suddenly and i haven't changed any settings. Tried remedies posted on other forums, how ever it dint work for me, Appreciate if any one could help me.
cheers
It happens because it is a AT&T based rom. They orinally configured the rom to use a Proxy server. There is a program i have which unregisters the proxy from the registry and Walla!!!!!
It happeed to my WM6, same here can use IE to surf internet by GPRS or USB, after disable proxy setting, is bck to normal, thanks!!
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Internet settings\EnableAutoDetect = 1
It works!!!
I had similar issues with Orange in the UK.
Received phone on Dec 7th, worked an absolute dream til the 11th when started dropping calls (issues with 3g network) and unable to connect to the internet via IE though Blackberry/Opera could still connect.
Well, after 3 handset replacements and everyone at Orange having no idea I think I figured it out. It's the Blackberry software. It seems to 'trick' IE into thinking there is a present GPRS connection, but obviously the Blackberry connection seems to use different broadcast ports where as other apps like Opera actively try to 'lock on' to a valid GPRS signal.
So, long post short... Spend the $24 and get Opera and leave IE to be confused by itself. Oh, and don't expect the 'tech support' at Orange to ever know what's going on!
Which program

Internet connection problem

Hello guys!
I have a problem with connecting to internet on my diamond since 3 days!
With internet sharing i can connect my notebook to internet without any problems and with full HSDPA-Speed.
But all applications on the diamond, which needs a data connection, wont work! Eg. weather update, skype, opera, google maps, iexplore,....
If i connect it to my notebook with active sync, internet will work on the mobile!
I've tried different radios; with all exactly the same problem!
Device:
XDA Diamond 300
1.40 OliNex HardSPL
Duttys 2.03 Rom (i think v.4)
I hope sb can help me with this problem!
TIA Ennsi
settings->connections->connections->advanced->select network
choose my isp
or whatever your isp settings use in the dropdownbox
and you're set it's not
a radiostack issue at all but a matter
of your phone being set to force to only
use my home network
I've tried this, but it's the same as before! =(
Another thing i've realized is that, when i want to go an a website (google.com), it jumps from 3G to H. Then the arrows come twice and disappear again (and the reception bar is shown). In the same moment the "ERROR! Network Problem" appears!
If anybody is interested, i've found the reason why i couldn't connect with the internet with 3G!
It's because i have used a specific IP address in the WIFI-Network Card. It actually happend with WIFI off!! Very strange!
Thank you, that solved the problem I was fighting with for months. In Spain we have 2 servers on Telefonica so the programs were confused.
Cheers
