Kaiser supports TouchFlo? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Expansys and MobilePlanet sites have already announced the price of HTC Kaiser. There is a video review of the unit at: http://www.expansys.com/video.aspx?id=261&i=151713
What interested me most was when the reviewer stepped through the screens and at the Settings/System screen, I saw the TouchFlo icon there. Pity the reviewer didn't talk about that.
So does Kaiser support TouchFlo? I hope so. That would make it even more a-to-die for unit

the link doesnt work. but from what i do know about the kaiser (so far) is that it has TouchFLO features but it does not have the TouchFLO screen. so we will see what happens, if they ever decide to add the screen.

Should I buy the tilt or the kaiser?

is paying the extra few hundred for the full unlocked HTC kaiser worth it?
or should I go TILT? am I correct to think there are no software differences with loading the HTC rom onto the TILT? or does the AT&T software restrictions still play an active roll in not allowing us to install what ever we please?
Has TILT adopters found themselves with more problems than they antisipated? has Kaiser adopters wished they would have saved the
money?

Here is your answer! Link: Should I buy a Tilt or a Kaiser?
no cam on the phone...
the homescreen on the tilt is lame... super lame...
att has choped away a lot of good stuf.... not sure the price difference is....
im having trouble installing anything that at&t hasnt sold me. your prob more capable than i am, but... thats my experience
To the original poster's credit, the forums' search functionality is kinda crap, but it is the sort of thing that should be easy to find just by browsing the right sections.
IMO, there's not much reason to get the TyTn II instead of the Tilt thanks to HardSPL. The front camera just isn't worth $400.
As to Tilt vs. Kaiser - Tilt IS a Kaiser...
Tilt - No front camera. Same back 3MP camera.
With a bit of reading this forum and a few hours/days. there's no other differences.
If you're an AT&T customer in the US, the front camera is useless anyway.
Furthermore, you can put whatever ROM/software you want on the device (courtesy of our fine colleagues here).
I did the math:
Tilt: $199.00 (with new 2-year contract)
TyTN II: $800.00
It was a no-brainer for me! (YMMV)

I don't think any of them come with a case. I find that strange seeing as all previous HTC Touch models came with a carry case and I find this one to be more prone to fingerprint markings, etc because of its shiny case so I would've expected it to come with a carry case/cleaning thingie
confirmed that's no case but with screen protector. (Malaysia)

Maybe they want users to choose between a normal case and that special cleaning case with microfibres. Some people would undoubtedly complain if they were forced to pay a little more to get a cheap case that they don't want.
So are there any nice cases available already (Vaja... etc.)?
Strangely there isnt a user manual that comes with the sales package. Only a quick start mini booklet. anyone facing this problem? (Malaysia)

You can find the [VERY DETAILED] user manual on one of the two CDs in the box (under the glossy flat top cover)
I see. So the manual is in a PDF format and not a physical copy right?

Yes, just a PDF.
Well.. How do ya think HTC managed to have a lower starting price than the Cruise when it first launched?
It's all abt cutting costs...
No case, no manual, no car kit.. No cam/voice commander buttons, smaller batt, no microSD slot..

A few corrections:
- With the Cruise you had the option of buying it with or without car kit. In the local market here, the starting price for the Cruise without car kit and the Diamond is exactly the same
- No manual. My Cruise also came with a soft copy of the manual- no printed manual.
- No MicroSD slot but you have 4GB internal memory which must have cost more to make then the Cruise internal memory
- 3D drivers (even if they exist but are not working on the Cruise) as well as more development costs for the interface considering the Cruise has exactly the same interface as older HTC phones
- If you get down to detail, the box of the Diamond probably cost more to make because its shape is unique and not off the HTC mass production line seeing as the Cruise, Dual, Elf, TyTn II and others all have the same form factor of the cardboard box

Well bro.. I totally agree with your statements.
We in singapore didn't have a choice to get the Cruise without the car kit. And if I'm not wrong.. I did get the full manual booklet. Probably catered to different markets.
I can assure you that there is cost down on the Diamond production compared to the Cruise... it's just that it's been done VERY nicely - thats good work on HTC. Thats how the electronics industry survive... Cost cutting. I used to be consumer electronics industry.. so I'm pretty sure of it
Hows Dubai btw? Was thinking of migrating there... too crowded here in SG.

Touch Diamond running Powerpoint?

Ok I'll probably get reamed for this...I would like to go out to visit potential customers and show them a powerpoint presentation direct from my phone without the need of a laptop, can this be done using the Touch Diamond or do I have to wait for the the Pro?
Thanks, I have searched the diamond threads but have been unable to find the answer
Nobber
PS I should have been more specific, I want to run Powerpoint on the Touch but display the presentation on a monitor or projector
You can play a powerpoint but you can't show it on a projector (good luck ramming a VGA lead into the phone). The Touch Pro supports TV out though and would most likely let you do this. You can buy a laptop for less than the cost of a Touch Diamond or Touch pro though.
Yes You Can....!!!!!
Actually there is a way to do this - its cost effective and reduces the amount of equipment you have to carry around with you. I've had one for over 2 years now and used it with various devices using the Bluetooth option and never had a problem?
http://www.impatica.com/showmate/
available in the US for circa $200
http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=147483
UK for circa £100
http://www.lambda-tek.com/componentshop/index.pl?origin=gbase18.3&prodID=B78284
You can get it from Expansys UK but it comes in at about £130 and you can of course get it on Ebay:

Hope that helps.....

dissapearing of volans/wings

Hi everybody. Few days ago I`ve groved up to buy HTC s-730, after some time of wondering.
But - here is the flop - it dissapeared of all the internet shops in Poland, also from allegro - polish web auctions. HTC polish dealers say, that they will not distribute it anymore. But it`s even not present at ebay.com. Do You know what happened?
I can only guess: HTC also makes S730 under different brand and probably that is the main reason for availability problem. Soon will be released Touch Pro (which is modified Diamond with qwerty keyboard) and they stop production of S730. I own S730 and now I regret a bit that I bought smartphone without gps instead of touchscreen model with gps.

It should have had GPS since the pre prod. model's all did, which is why I bought mine. I am looking to dump it later in the year when the Touch Pro hits the US, I wouldnt mind full 3G for that upgraded phone but I will end up importing it if the carriers gimp the phone like they usually do.
I could see them halting production and distribution of the S730 around a year after its release with all the better handsets they are putting out now. I hope to be able to sell mine when the time comes...who knows.
Now everthing is clear why S730 vanished from shops - S740 is coming soon I wonder when HTC re-think its policy about existing clients: "No support, just buy newer device".
Would be nice to have some support, I do not like the new S740 at all. I am looking to jump on the Touch Pro when it hits ATT if its not gimped too much. School and work are starting to tax my poor little edge connection. That and I am bitter that they cut so much from our phones which are fully advertised in the new version...

Confused - TyTN version

After months I decided again to go with a Windows Mobile based PDA as a primary phone. The N95 just did not do the job, so, I thought the TyTN II still might be the best choice for me. The old Hermes was the last PDA I owned.
I bought mine directly from NewEgg here:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875502007
Surprisingly, I already had seen on the pictures that the item does not have a front camera for video phones. Well, this service is not yet supported in the US, so, it just was not important to me.
Now, after I received the item today, another strange thing:
The keyboard does not look like on the real TyTN II but it matches the keyboard of the AT&T Tilt.
The box and all accessoirs match the HTC version rather than the AT&T Tilt version. IMEI and Serial# of the device match the label on the box. It further says on the box HTC TyTN II P4551. ROM version is WM 6.1.
So, my question:
What version do I really have? What do I have to care about in case I want to flash it? Would I have to go with AT&T flashing guides rather than with guides for the Kaiser?
Just trying to sort out the differences - sorry in case this has been asked already before.

Enter your bootloader and read the top line "KAISXXX" (where XXX is 100,110,120 or 130), then look under "Specs of some Kaiser variants" on the HTC Kaiser wiki page.

Dave
Well,
I guess this is the AT&T variant then. It says clearly KAIS100 and the keyboard is definitely from an AT&T Tilt (blue FN key and silver number block).
I just wonder why HTC would change the front plate (AT&T Logo) back to HTC, then flashes it wit the generic HTC software and packs everything nicely in a HTC box?
see if you can register it at the htc e-club because the At&t branded device's can't.

Yeah,
I was thinking of that but I am planing to return / exchange for the MWg Zinc II. The lack of video drivers for the TyTN II is quite annoying already by just surfing the web! I am not sure if a downgrade to WM 6.0 would fix that?
However,
attached 2 pictures of my TyTN II Hybrid. Sorry for the bad quality but it is still clear enough. Strangely, even the box shows this device with the AT&T Keypad! It almost looks to me as if HTC had an over-production of AT&T Tilts and now they throw the left-overs on the market as P4551 (which really seems to be the AT&T with HTC Logo and box).

I just now checked and found that you can register for At&t tilt also in HTC club.
The tytyn has a slower processor and uses an inferior gps chipset.
It does have a little more memory but to date I have not had a prob with my 256/64 config. For some reason the data on my zinc is innacurate (pdadb). It says the zinc has a 2.5 mm audio jack (proprietary it is).
Video is easy with core player 1.2.5 b 4506.
