How-to: Fix WM6 from not being able to receive calls - Palm Treo 750 ROM Development

After working on this since day 0 when WM6 was leaked I'm happy to now provide the solution to major problem I experienced on WM6. I post what I did now at 3am in the hopes it can help others.
* PLEASE NOTE : This has not been repeated as I'm happy my WM6 Treo now receives phone calls and I'm not about to repeat the long process in a hurry just yet *
* In summary, a) unlocking Extended ROM and wiping it, then b) running the Treo 750 Recovery Tool -- seems to be the total solution.
Specs
===
Treo 750v Vodafone New Zealand running WM5 with 1.16VF (also tried another Treo with 1.15, same issue).
Updated to WM6 using AT&T ROM.
Vodafone NZ network is GSM900 with UMTS2100 and HSDPA.
Bootloader IPL/SPL 0.20 / 0.24.
Problem
===
Could not receive ANY calls. TXTs delayed. Voicemail notification delayed. Outbound calls intermittently working.
Any person calling received a "dit-dit-dit-dit---dit-dit-dit-dit" tone, the sound of a disconnected number.
The Treo did not display any notification of the new number. Really bad.. meant I couldn't use WM6.
Solution
===
Simply, remove all AT&T crap, and in fact prevent it from starting from the Extended ROM.
1. Hard reset your device, flash with WM6 from SD card. All good.
2. Unlock and unhide your Extended ROM. This is a bit of a pain and didn't seem to work at first for me. In fact, it unhide after first reset, but then if I hard resetted the Extended ROM magically came back. Follow this guy's progress: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1406616&highlight=extended+rom#post1406616 - I soft-resetted about 7x...
3. Delete files from Extended ROM (2 files). I copied them to my memory card first. You can extract them as a zip archive on your PC. Some interesting files in there. Who knows how to uncompress _PZE? (this isn't relevant to the solution btw! Just make sure you delete the files in Extended ROM).
3. I installed Total Commander *IN* the Extended ROM. Just for fun really, I thought it would be a good way of overwriting any existing files in there - as when i hard resetted earlier they came back.
4. *NOT NEEDED* [Thanks "Kaine79"]
5. Run the T750URT.exe "Treo 750 Recovery Tool" while your Treo is in bootloader. This is reallllly slow and takes a good 5 minutes plus.
6. Hard-reset. Follow wizard starting up... and hey you will notice straight away it defaults to "English (UK)" instead of "English (US)". If it does that -- you've got rid of the AT&T crap and now your phone can receive phone calls!
** PROBABLY HALF THESE STEPS ARE OBSOLETE ** I have left them all in, just so that someone else having the same issue as me, might run through and find out only 2 out of the 6 actually did anything relevant. But I don't know what those 2 are

Hi,
Thanks to your post I could fix tje problem about incomming calls !
Thank you very much !
I jumped step 4, if this could help the next one

Ok, I'm curious about something. Where are you getting the T750URT.exe file? The only place I could find it was in the official WM5 upgrade, after running it, it appears that it simply downgraded my radio firmware to an earlier version, is this the case or am I missing something blatantly obvious here?

recovery tool
I found it while browsing Palm's NZ website. It's here:
http://www.palm.com/nz/support/downloads/treo/750vupdate_recovery.html
Downgrading the radio would sound right for fixing phone call problem.
Unfortunately I find HSDPA no longer works after running the URT. It's either a) I have HSDPA or b) I receive phone calls...

Every 750v has problem with incoming calls after upgrade? Or only some of them (specified or random)? If it's because of radio, every single Treo should have this issue...

Palm Treo 750v recovery tools downgrades radio to version. 1.12.0c.00. That's all it does.

I haven't had any issues with incoming calls at all since i've upgraded to the AT&T ROM. everything's been working great except it does feel a bit laggy. i might try removing all the crap tonight

Miss phone calls and no voicemail notification.

I have used various of customized wizard roms and have been pretty ignorant to the missed phone calls and no voicemail notification problem until recent(about 2 weeks ago) when I suddenly received a notification of 22 missed calls and 15 unheard voice messages. I think this is a fundamantle problem to any phone/ROM so we really need to get to the bottom of this. Does any one out there also have this problem? Please share your carrier and settings. Or better yet, please throw in a couple of ideas.
I have CINGULAR 8125 G3 and use CINGULAR as my carrier.
Here is my sympton:
1. intermittently miss phone calls, with no notification (missed call; voice mail) afterward. It might be related to intensively use some application like PIE or total-commander but I don't have solid data point to prove that. To proved it will need a pretty exhaustive testing being performed.
2. sometimes when trying to make calls, the sound quality was really bad and the call was dropped very shortly after making connection. However after a soft reset of the phone I could call out again with decent connection quality. Again this is really intermittent and not easily reproduced. However I suspect when the phone could not call out it probably couldn't receive calls either. So this issue could be related to the first issue.
First question is: Is this due to the new AKU3.2 rom? I am not sure about this because for once or twice with my phone flashed with 2.26 rom I still experience the problem that the phone couldn't call out until soft reset.
My other suspect is the omapclock overclocking. Because if the CPU being overclocked, maybe the cpu core that is in charge of the phone operation will get overclocked it cannot work properly when overclocked?
As you can see I am only shooting in the dark. Therefor any ideas will be welcomed/appreciated.
I read a lot about people missing phone calls and such when using the AKU 3.2 rom which is why I won't touch those roms anymore. There were even more problems with those roms on cingular, such as not being able to hang up without resetting the phone. You might want to do a quick search or scan thru the AKU 3.2 threads and take a look.
OK. Let me change to a different question: does any one has the same issue with a AKU2.x ROM? I am asking this because I am not sure if this is a AKU3 ROM problem.
How do I make a fancy poll in the beginning of this thread?
Same as above. You'll get a lot more out of reading the AKU 2 threads that are already have (and have been for some time) than by starting yet another poll few will answer. I've not heard of such a problem, nor have I ever experienced it. The AKU 2.3 roms seem pretty stable these days. I think, for the most part, this is a great example of "newer isn't always better".
Thank you Mark for sharing your thoughts and your experience. Which carrier and phone are you using? I have noticed that the cituation varies among different carriers also.
I have been using my cingular phone with both AKU3.2 and AKU2.26 and I have had at least 1 incident of phone not able to establish a steady call until a soft reset. And that's why I am trying to gather other people's data point.
Well I have the same problem with the following configuration:
MDA Vario - T-Mobile, Netherlands
IPL 2.26
SPL 2.26
Radio 2.47.11
OS 2.26.10.2 (AKU 2.3 based)
The problem of the missed calls came to my attention (via my girlfriend) when I was running a AKU2.3 based rom. At this moment I am still running the same ROM and frequently have this problem.
Hopefully this data will help analyse the problem. If I can help in any way, please let me know.
well i noticed an odd one with my kjam when i received it back from repair, it was using the latest imate rom which ever that was and it wasnt giving me the voicemail notification... it was just messaging telling me i have a sms waiting for me but i cannot download it because my phone is apparently full.. kept getting that all day, even though i deleted all of the 10 sms i had in there.
turns out it was a voicemail message. :|
There is a topic that makes clear that this happens on the dutch T-Mobile network too. I downgraded my radio rom to the original 2.19.11 and it solved my problem.
You can try disabeling the USSD service as it seems to help some people on Faria's 3.2 rom.
I have a suspect that overclocking of the CPU using OMAPCLOCK might be related to this problem. The problem to verify this is that I need a sequence with which I can constantly reproduce the miss call problem. Then I can perform further test with different combination of ROMs, applications, CPU speed configuration etc. I will definitely keep reporting my progress. Does any one have any suggestions/ideas?
Here is the testing schem I have designed:
I asked my wife and my son to call my CELL every 30min-1hr, leave voice message if they were redirected to the answer service. Then I can have a record and a clear indication on how many calls I have missed. Here is the current configuration I am using:
Cingular Plan with GPRS data package.
Molski AKU2.26 release ROM
2.47.11 Radio
No overclocking(195MHZ for 8125)
I will get a call hit/miss ratio after a day or two. Then I will switch to different setup(CPU Clock, AKU, Radio ROM etc.). Hopefully I can determine which is the determining factor in causing this missing call issue.
If you are interested in this test. Please join me and feel free to define your test scheme so we can have a broader test coverage. If eventually this turns out to be a Carrier problem, then we would have more data point to push the carriers to fix this.
Your participation would be greatly appreciated.
USA Cingular missed call possible solution
Like many USA Cingular customers with Faria's excellent 3.2 rom I started to miss calls and voicemail alerts. I would miss calls in places with great reception for no apparent reason, not just in places with spotty reception. I think I may have a solution to the problem.
Cingular has been giving customers a new 64k orange colored sim card to replace the older 32k black colored sims. I went to cingular to get my new card and I also received horrible reception at my house. After replacing the card several times the reception did not get any better.
I was able to speak with one of the upper level techs, and here is what was explained to me:
Cingular is in the process of combining all of it's network with the former AT&T network here in the US. Cingular has 2 networks each color coded "Orange" and "Blue". Cingular Orange is the original Cingular network from the time when SBC and BellSouth merged their wireless units. Cingular Blue is everything that Cingular got through the AT&T merger in 2003. This includes all AT&T Wireless GSM 850/1900 licenses, markets and network assets (i.e. towers etc). When I changed my sim, I also changed my primary network from Orange (registered on my old sim) to Blue. To remedy my spotty coverage at my house the tech switched me back to Orange.
Ever since I've been back on the Orange network I have not missed a call or voicemail, and it's not because I get better reception. I have been testing for 2 weeks now, and everthing is been going great! I have had the USSD service disabled, I just started the service again and will test with USSD on auto, but I'm guessing it will work. I will report back later.
This would confirm that it is a network issue, and not an issue for all users. Give Cingular a call and ask to change to the Orange network, you can always call to change it back!
Intesesting.... In addition to the missed calls and voicemail issues, did you have the phone buttons not responding issues? For instance, with any AKU 3.2 ROM, after a day or three, when I hit the "7" key to delete a message I see the & register on the screen but the phone's not aware. Or I can't hang up the phone and either have to wait or reset ...
tia
Sorry Dr. P, but I never had any of the button press issues.
I have been having this problem for about 6 months. On top of the problems of missing calls (I can call myself and while the landline I'm calling from will ring the whole time, the cell never wakes up or rings) I'm also having problems where I sometimes can't hang up a phone call or when I press a button in the middle of a call (like punching in my VM password) it doesn't register.
I'm also on Cingular.
I'm using a K-Jam using the last K-Jam FW. The only thing I have done is added A2DP using the patch (which I have since uninstalled). I'm not overclocking
If I soft reset my device, the problem goes away.
The only thing I noticed that was odd, is it seems to only happen when I've regsitered on a tower close to my office. It never happens when I'm anyplace else. Once I register on that tower, I have problems until I soft reset my device. If I never go to work, I don't have it. Could be a coincidence but I don't know.
If it's not a carrier problem, my thought is it's a system resource problem where something is dragging the memory down or conflicting.
More info (since I'm running a clean stock ROM):
I'm not running any today plugins that aren't standard (email, tasks, calendar, etc) EXCEPT I am running the wireless hack in the registry where it shows your carrier plus wireless info. I'm also unning PHM Tray Launch and sometimes when I soft reset my device, it won't display until I come back to the Today Screen a few times.
Other than that, I don't have a lot of SW installed on my device.
Hope this helps...
-Mc
I also have the button press issues. I can try to delete a message and while I hear the DTMF, the network does not.
I'm using the standard K-Jam FW on my K-Jam. No customized ROM here with the exception I loaded the A2DP patch.

OK, I'm confused with my SIMs.
I have 2:
1.) 64k Cingular with green back. I originally got it from when I switched from AT&T wireless, 2 years ago, January. And it worked, so I continued to use it in my new phones. (Including my Wizard.)
2.) 64k Cingular with blue back. I got this one when I got a warranty replacement phone over the summer. (Says 3G, and has a different arrangement of contacts.)
I have to assume that I skipped over these orange SIM cards that keep getting mentioned.
Any confirmation or further info?
I would say for those who are on Cingular and having problems should post up which Cingular SIM card they have... That may cut through the possibility that the SIM may be the cause of most problems.
I used an AT&T Wireless (Cingular Blue) customer who was given the white SIM card with the black text and blue logo; I used to have lots of problems with reception and dropped calls with it and it didn't matter which phone my SIM card was in. I was told that if I migrated over to Cingular (Cingular Orange) that their new 64K SIM card could resolve my reception problems...
I currently use a Cingular 64K SIM (Orange and white color with 64K text) and it has resolved issues I used to have with previous phones. My unlocked T-Mobile MDA using the Radio ROM included (I believe it's the iMate Radio ROM) with Molski's new AKU 3.2 ROM has had no problems with reception or missed calls.
For those with problems with the ROM, I would possibly try to get a hold of a Cingular Radio ROM from the FTP server. I know that when my phone still had the default T-Mobile 2.26 G3 ROM, my reception was a little bit fuzzy on calls.

Yeah, it looks like you skipped over the orange 64K SIM's and got a 3G 64K instead.
Kudos to FunkyB! I always suspected there is something fishy in the network itself. Here is my test result so far:
Molski 2.26 ROM
2.47.11 Radio
No overclocking
Received: 11 calls
Missed: 1 calls + No voice message notification
2 extra findings:
If I press "ignore" immediately after hearing the ringtone, the other end will get busy tone.
If I press "ignore" after at least 2 rings, the other end get the voice mail
Navizon doesn't work on Molski's latest 2.26 ROM! (I found out this when I am trying to run every bit of apps I could find during the testing).
So here is another factor into my testing: Cingular BLUE or Cingular Orange. Is there any easy way for me to determine my network?
PS. I concour to Mr. McHale's finding also.

My Sim Card is orange color. Is it possible that Cingular still put you on BLUE when you have a orange colored Sim? I used to be AT&T but I switched my SIM about 6 months ago.

"Phone not ready -wait 15 seconds"

Hi all,
First post on this great site - keep up the good work!
I have an issue with my MDA Compact II - I've recently sacked my T-Mobile contract, and have a work contract with Orange, which I now use (I've used Lokiwiz to unlock the phone). Unfortunately my Orange SIM doesn't fully work on my MDA. I can make/receive calls with no problems, but whenever I try to send a text message, the following dialogue pops up:
"The phone is not ready. Wait 15 seconds and try again."
Well, I could wait for 15 hours and it wouldn't change. I've removed the battery, and left that for an hour, still no difference. I've recently upgraded my ROM to see if that would make a difference - no joy. My current version:
ROM - 2.6.2.27 WWE
Any help would be appreciated - I'm having to use an exceedingly boring Nokia 6021 at the moment! I don't really want to resort to just using my MDA as a PDA! Cheers - let me know if you need further information to answer my question.
Upgrade your Radio stack

Worked for me.
Aparently, the SIM's used in a M3100 are designed specifically for these devices and later. Thats the official line from Orange...Just spoke to them for 45 minutes trying out 5 different devices and they have concluded its a "compatability issue"
I was using an M3100 SIM in an M600...although it DOES work in an E650...
Hope this helps!

Treo 750 and extended rom

I unlocked the extended rom on the Treo 750 but I only see 2 files.
carrierdb

I thought I could see more than just the two files.
Did I miss something to view the other files?
There are only two files, nothing wrong in what are you seeing

I don't have tried, but I think this is possible.
Would be nice to have a treo with a number of programs and settings applied automagically when you do an HR.
Ok, I see what's inside of them now.
Now for the big question, can I add another GSM carrier manually into the carrier.pxp file? I noticed that the files are binary format in the carrierdb.pxp file.
The reason why I ask, is Fido was bought out by Rogers and my Treo 750 shows roaming all the time. (Since I upgraded from WM5 to WM6).
When looking in the carrierdb.pxp file, I don't see the Fido GSM network code. It should be 302-370, which isn't listed. The Rogers one is listed thou.
Or if someone has WM5 with the Fido code in the carrierdb.pxp and upload it here it would be appreciated.
Thanks

750 on Rogers
Hello All, I have a question for anyone with a TREO 750 (or maybe any TREO).
I have Cingular Treo 750 (Unlocked and working on Rogers for almost 3 monthes now) And its been working great for data and voice, never dropping calls, been able to use my phone anywhere without issue.
I've been using the phone exclusivly in Canada (Ontario) since I got it brand-new 3 months ago... however, I made a trip to the USA (MI) and the phone continued to work great! (HOWEVER, upon returning to Canada my problems have been dropping calls VERY frequently, if I have 2 bars or less (or sometimes full) and I try to make a call, the phone just says, call in progress, and will sit like that until it times out, or maybe 30 seconds later, it will start to dial.
Does Cingular send updates or new firmware over the air, without notification?? It seems very odd, or one heck of a coincidence, that my problems have started since my first trip with the treo 750 to the USA (MI).
Also, after my first trip, i had gone to MI again, and the phone had worked flawlessly, never dropping a call, and working great at any signal, no delays in placing calls even.
I think maybe an update must have happened, either to my phone, or to Rogers network, but nobody else i know with Rogers seems to have a problem.
(in a low sigal area, i had two phones, both rogers, one would work fine, and mine, showing two bars, wouldn't dial at all... until i was back on the highway, or anywhere with 3+ bars.)
Here is the info for my phone:

TYTN II Missing Calls

Hey guys, I'm new here, and I guess I should start off with "HELLO!" instead of throwing my problems at you...but alas.
I've just recently purchased the TYTN II (factory unlocked from Taiwan), and love it--minus this one, relatively annoying problem: the phone seems to be missing a lot of calls. I could be sitting with full (reception) bars, and the TYTN will send someone straight to voice mail. I've never had any problems dialing out, and just to reiterate, I don't believe that it's a reception problem. This "call rejection" problem seems to occur sporadically, and is usually solved when I make a call out. I'll give you an example of the problem.
1) Friend calls, gets to voice mail.
2) Friend calls my house, I look at my phone, full bars.
3) I have Fido's "Who Called" service, so shortly I get a text saying I missed a call from such and such number. (Oh, yes, text messages don't seem to be affected by this problem)
4) I call my phone, from my house, knowing full will it has full bars and that I just got a text message.
5) I get the damn voice mail, directly.
6) I call my house using the cell--no problems.
7) I call my cell again, and lowe and behold, it works.
The only logical conclusions I've been able to come up with so far are that:
A) for some reason, Fido's (Rogers') towers seem to have a hard time staying connected with my phone...which doesn't make too much sense since I still get text messages problem-free.
B) since they've just recently switched to HSDPA (yes, I'm using WCDMA), that the network has a hard time switching back and fourth from GSM.
C) the "Name Display" service which comes with my value package...(and can't take off separately) is incompatible with my phone, thus causing certain calls to be rejected with an incoming call is received with this data.
D) God forbid, my phone has a problem...and I need to get my friend to go back to Taiwan and fetch me a replacement.
Sorry for my first post being such a lecherous one...but I do hope someone is able to help me out! I'm not to sure what I expect any of you to do...maybe verify that this is some sort of authentic problem...and not scenario "D" so I can pray for a solution to this problem in the.........future (yes, it may be a long and distant future, but for some reason, I'm able to bare with this issue if there is a glimmer of hope). Thank you guys so much!
That problem reminds me back in the days with my wizard, but that issue, the caller would hear rings on their side, but wizard wouldn't get a missed call or ring. That was due to what version radio you had. For that, not sure what it is. You can explore switching radios and seeing if that works. Certain radios work better in certain areas. I have AT&T in the U.S. and rarely have that problem. Sometimes I get that with bad reception...but that is with bad reception, not good reception.
Radio
This is almost certainly a radio issue. There is a thread with every radio currently available stickied at the top of the kaiser upgrading section.
Thanks for the replies so far guys, but if my understanding is correct, and this "radio" problem only effects the output of sound from my TYTN (thus not able to hear the call coming in), then I don't believe that I am experiencing this issue. Like I said, the calls are going DIRECTLY to voice mail. I've held the phone in my hand when getting this "call reject" problem. No sign of an incoming call whatsoever. Thanks again guys!
Radio
Oh, and I also just checked, I have Radio Version: 1.27.15.32, which I believe is more recent than the current radio versions being offered on here...I don't believe 'downdating' will help, will it?
I sometimes get a problem sort of like this. I live in an edge area and this comes up if I'm surfing the net. Sometimes it's like the connection is never released and I have to soft reset the phone before I can make or receive calls again.
It's FIDO's problem ! probably you are in Canada ! I have two kaisers with exactly the same problem !!! try to disable the 3G. go to phone\menu\options\band and change the network type to GSM.
I haven't had any problem so far
Thanks, hma4. That was one of my guesses...sort of makes my data package moot, though. Thanks to everyone who tried to help out!
Oh, and by the way, 'hello fellow members of xda-developoers."

FWIW, "downdating" as you called it, has actually solved many problems with reception and battery life of the Kaiser, and for some has helped with the Camera (How? I dunno... it's still just a slow and laggy camera to me that needs an excessively large amount of light for a decent picture).
So changing your radio could indeed actually help. Now as for which radio is best well... apparently that depends on your area. Most seem to swear by 1.27.11.31 and 1.27.12.17. 1.27.12.10 is a newbie that hasn't been tested much, but people seem to get good results from it as well.

I have an MDA VArios III and have the same issue. Did that suggestion fix your issue?
In addition to this my handset sometimes cannot switch off. It just stays permanently on. Even a soft reset doesnt help. If I leave it for a day, it seems to sort itself out. I've deleted a prog i loaded call "Touch Commander", It hasnt happen since so I am not sure if it has fixed the latter issue.
Cheers
Max
I'm on Fido, and I have the exact same issue. I never missed any calls when I put my sim card in my old Magician. I guessed it was a network problem, but I had no comfirmation.
I'm going to go with compatibility issues between Fido/Rogers and the Tytn II... I'm just praying that this is an 'early' adopter issue for HSDPA enabled phones. I haven't tried to go back to GSM because this problem is so sporadic that it might be days before I figure it out. No missed calls today. Good luck to all of us who have the Fido/Rogers + Tytn II combination.

If you can, use this procedure from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359015
I've added additional steps to help:
Requirements
- Qualcomm QPST software (attached in thread)
- QC diagnostics drivers (attached in thread)
- HardSPL, only needed if you want to dump from a production model
Procedure
1. Restart in tri-color bootloader mode and start MTTY in USB mode
2. Type: rtask a
3. Type: radata Note: What you type is not echoed on screen!!!! (after pressing enter ignore the error message "Parameter error")
4. Type: retuoR Note: What you type is not echoed on screen!!!!
5. Type: rtask c
After step 5. the device will enter QC diagnostics mode and it will install 3 new devices on your PC. Make sure you install the attached drivers. After driver installation look in device manager to find which COM port the QC diag driver uses.
6. Exit MTTY
7. Start "QPST Configuration" and check if the device is recognized and if it is in "download" mode
8. Start "QPST Memory Debug", click "Get Regions" and then "Save To"
9. Upload the dumped files on XDA Devs FTP server
Dump NV Items
The configuration of radio are stored as NV items. It is possible to dump these as follows:
1. Hold down camera button and hit "Reset Phone" in the Memory Debug Application
2. Restart in tri-color bootloader mode and start MTTY in USB mode
3. Type: rtask c
4. Exit MTTY and start "QPST RF NV Item Manager" and select Read from Phone from the File menu followed by Write Only listed Items to .QCN file
5. Also, select Write Only listed Items to .TXT file.
I've already dumped my 1.27.12.32 and uploaded to XDA dev for analysis for the steps needed to rebuild it back into a .nbh that can be reflashed.

This has happened twice to me. My phone would not switch off. I reset it a number of times to noavail. Some how it righted itself.
Hi all,
I was searching the forums for info on exactly this issue. I am having the same problem using a touch cruise on Fido. arg! is it a 3g thing? any new news or ideas? I certainly hope I don't have to turn 3G off in order to ensure I can receive calls consistently!

Diamond sends SMS after each boot

I got me a Touch Diamond in the rounder shape of the T-Mobile MDA Compact IV. It came in a sealed box from eBay and I've used unlocking software that I also found on eBay. As it turns out, this software seems to originate from this forum.
As far as I've researched it, right after the lock was removed, the phone started sending SMS messages to the number SMS032837 each time it is reset (since I've never used this phone locked it *could* have done this already, but I doubt it). Even if I switch off the GSM radio, and then reset, the phone waits for the radio to come back on and immedately sends a message.
I have no clue to what's the message is about or whoever is the recipiant but that's not the main issue here; it should not do this, period.
ROM: 1.37.110.3
Radio: 1.20.OliNex
Protocol: 52.26a.25.09U
Anyone any idea what is going on?
TIA,
XDArjen
sorry i dont have any idea
try this steps
1-try hard reset
if not work
2- you have an old ROM so
upgrade it to the latest ROM for your country or use cooked ROM if you want
Could a program similar to RemoteTracker be installed on your Diamond ?
That would explain the SMS, as the software detects that you changed the SIM card.
yea sounds like some program like remotetracker, try flashing a new ROM, as i assume it's build into the ROM by the seller, no idea why though.

Hi,
I`ve got MDA Compact IV on T-Mobile UK with original ROM and Radio (I just need to) and I`ve noticed that after every re-boot it sends above mentioned by you text.
Actually, it sends 2 texts: 1st to 32837 (on the on-line bill it`s clasified as
"unbranded" and it`s free of any charge)
2nd to 100203005 (clasified as "SMS text messaging" and it is also free).
I was surprised as well, so started to investigate.
I`ve found that above texts got something to do with W`n Walk service and T-Mobile My Faves and they are like a system messages.
They are NOT using any of the tariff allowances and they are completely free.
I`m sure because I`m checking my bill very carefully every month and it is my 3rd bill since I started using Compact IV.
I think that every HTC Diamond and MDA Compact IV sends those texts when logging into GSM Networks, but not every network provider shows them on their bills. With T-Mobile it shows on My T-Mobile On-Line account, but not on any paper or electronic bill.
There is more info about the case on other forums, just "google" them numbers and you will find it.
So, DON`T PANIC, everything is in order.
P.S.
My handset is unlocked and I was using foreign SIM card with, whilst on holiday and I haven`t noticed any extra charges for above texts, nor any other problem.
Regards.

Hey snark_be,
I'm not sure, it's a brand new T-Mobile that I got in a sealed box. The owner got it as an upgrade but didn't want it. So it came locked to T-Mobile and I had to unlock it since I'm not a T-Mobile customer.
Could T-Mobile be using this tracking method? The seller of the unlocker could have added it, I don't know, he hasn't answered my email (yet).
The SMS goes anytime the device boots, not just after inserting the SIM.
HTC ROM upgrade site rejects my serial number if I want to download a new ROM.

That was the plan, but that seem's a bit of a hornet's nest. Can I assume safely that the T-Mobile is a true HTC Touch Diamond? Will I be able to return to non-brick if something doesn't work? I mean when I install Hard-SPL first (it's installed already by the unlocker, but an older version, like 1.24)?

Tom, they show up on my bill, so I have to pay for them. And my provider logs them as International calls.
I don't have the luxury of sitting idle because it make the device useless as a phone. I will peruse the forum about this matter but I was already planning upgrading the ROM as I find the device very unresponsive.
have a look in the rom section here and install a new one

Just flash the latest HardSPL, 1.93 I think, and then head over to the Diamond Wiki and download/flash the newest WWE ROM you find (1.94 I think).
