ATT WM6 iGO not working, gx.dll problem? - Palm Treo 750 ROM Development

I've upgraded my vodafone to the at&t wm6 and iGO 2006 plus doesn't work correctly, it loads shrunken/compressed in the middle of the screen to the point of (almot) unusable, it worked fine on the wm5.
I think the problem is with the gapi, as when I tried using Morph gear with manual driver and selected gapi the screen was also compressed in the middle, and it too woked fine with gapi on wm5.
I know the GAPI is located at the gx.dll file, I can't delete or rename that file, anyone knows how to maybe put the gx.dll file from wm5 on the wm6?

Hello
I have the same Problem with I-GO and WM6
So i flashed back to WM5 :-(

treo 750v, flashback ?
I have the same problem with my treo 750v. Moreover also my phone is now locked, whereas initially I could use ith wiht any provider. I know this was nog a smart move by now. Question is how to solve this. Anybody has a clue ?
According to palm it is not possible to flash back to WM5. However I read in previous post they recovered wm5, was this also with palm 750v ?
Hope somebody can help.

how do you perform a rollback to wm5
can some help in telling me how to perform a rollback to wm5 on the treo 750v to the 1.16 firmware version.

IGO - Treo 750 - WM6 problem
Hi there!
Could you figure out something about the IGO display problem that occurs after WM6 upgrade?
I have beed playing around with the sys.txt file changing settings in the [interface] and [gx] sections. I have also tried to replace the gx.dll GAPI library with the latest one.
No success so far.
Please, let me know if you have any progress on this!
Thanks!

Solution for running iGO on Treo 750 with WM6
Please verify if the following solution works:
- Create a file in your iGO folders called sys.txt
- The file should contain the following section:
[interface]
gxoff=1
It already worked for a few Treo users.

Hi:
I would love to try this. I am somewhat of a newbie though, can you please give further instructions? I of course understood the part about creating new file, from there I got a little lost. Do I create a text document with gxoff=1 as the actual text
in it? Sorry if this is a dumb question
Thanks!

Well, am VERY happy to report, that the excellent advice given by rmplus, worked perfectly after I figured out that I had to include the entire text (I was leaving off the [interface] portion):
[interface]
gxoff=1
in a .txt file called sys.
THANKS SO MUCH

Does anyone happen to know of a fix like this for Jewel Challenge?
I am having the same problem.
Thanks!

after i did this i am getting an error:
C:\GPS_2006R3_iGOSE\firefly\base\core\ffsurface.cpp.299
Exception in EndPaint
exiting application

Hi all
I'm having exactly the same problem as gilmargolin - above. iGO 2006 worked perfectly under WM5 (one of the few programs that did). iGO Tech Support says the program is not supported on WM6, but someone must have an idea as it is only a screen resolution problem.
Cheers

Yep - verbatim. I stored the sys.txt file in the SD card iGO folder root. If I place the file anywhere else sensible, I get a hardware error. Frustrating!

That's too bad. Not to be funny, but did you make sure to include the entire text, just as it's listed?
[interface]
gxoff=1
On my first try I left off the [interface] part, and it wouldn't work.
Good Luck

Nope - nothing so simple. Sigh...

Ugh, that's too bad. Sorry I couldn't be any help.

I resolve problem Igo 2006 on Treo 750 WM6
1. Uninstall previous iGo version from Treo 750
2. Copy install files of June iGo version on the root of SD card (folders [2577] & [iGo])
3. Start autorun.exe from folder [2577]
4.Put in [Igo] folder on SD card, "sys.txt" file with
[interface]
gxoff=1
And that's it!
It works for me.

Thanks!!!
It worked perfectly!!!

Does it work really slower then how it works regularly on WM5?
On my device there are frezzes of couple of seconds.

TomTom for my Wizard?

Up till last week I had a T-Mobile MDA Compact and I'd got Tomtom (bakonl) running. Now I have a Wizard (T-Mobile from The Netherlands) and I can't install the Tomtom. Appears that WM2005 not compatible with Tomtom Version 5. Anyone got a plan to get arround this? :?:
To install TTN5 on WM5 you have to copy the cab files directly to pda and launch it with the pocket explorer (or resco explorer).
a bit more info to install tomtom and get it working
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29606
Thanks for the responses guys. I've given it a go and moved the cab files from the CD to my SD card and installed the GPS cab first. Then soft booted the Vario and then attempted to install the TTN cab.
All per the post :-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29277&highlight=ttn
However... Still won't install correctly...
Am I doing something wrong?
Any more advice gladly received.
Thanks,
you need te get the tomtom 5.1 files then it works fine. I've got it working on my bleu angel with WM5, and today i installed in on my brother's vario and it worked just fine.
Thanks,
Can I ask... Where did you get the 5.1 files from?
You can download TTN5.1 from the following link
http://www.tomtom.com/updates/ppcupd510.exe
otherwise just use a torrent search engine, you should find it in no time

You need the zip file not the exe. AS4 messes up the installation.

Dear All,
I found this update this week..

Note : Download, unzipp... connect your PDA/Phone via Sync cabel/station, setup.exe run. (I have installed it over my (bakonl) 5.0 version.... !!!).
Note 2 : Can ONLY be used if you have a BeNeLux version of bakonl TT5 and only with the BeNeLux map (normal or plus).......
Success with the upgrade.
TomTom with WM6.1 on HTC wizard
Good Morning,
can anybody support me in trying to setup a navigation functionality on my HTC wizard, that runs WindowsMobile 6.1 (those TNT edition)?
Unfortunately i can't find up to date information about which GPS-hardware to use. Is BlooTooth the only reasonable solution for the wizard?
I also plan to feed the tachymeter signal from my bicycle somehow. Has anybody read of approaches to this and can cite or link?
Third thing I'm in search of is an alternative camera software. The "Camera for Pocket PC Version 3.00" does not support geoTagging and not even writing in the Tags for Titling, commenting etc.
Many thanks for your valuable hints in advance.

Wizard ROM ported to BA - v1.0-ToMa discussion

I think this deserves its own topic. Original post from Tuatara:
Hi everyone ...
Sorry, I've run out of time for providing you with an updated ROM which I wanted to have feature complete. I'm off on vacation tomorrow for 2 weeks, and can't keep working on it until I'm back.
I've been playing around with many things (adding/removing files, fixing the Midlet Manager, updating Camera, etc.) but I haven't got the ROM to the point where I feel it's 100% ready for others - but having said that, I've uploaded it to XDA Dev, and you're welcome to give it a try and see if it improves things for you.
This is MAINLY an update from Mamaich's v2a ROM, which does contain the Quantum Timing Patch, and the Performance Tweaks.
I've also made a few filesystem changes - predominantly removing the Midlet Manager (which wasn't working), applied all of the Performance Tweaks as per the thread (and a few more), changed the default startup elements to suit my tastes (at the moment), and added some useful programs and details to the ROM. (psShutXP, Running Programs, Shortcuts to missing elements, etc.)
The ROM is in /Uploads/Blue Angel/wm5_test/Tuatara_v2a_Custom.zip
Inside the ZIP file is the nk.nba file, along with the updated registry files (boot.rgu, default.rgu, and user.rgu) which have been merged in. I've unfortunately forgotten to include initflashfiles.dat in the ZIP, but that file is directly available from inside the ROM anyways.
The ZIP also contains a different EXTROM - only the missing files, camera, and midlet manager are needed now, and there is no warning about publisher on installation anymore. You can obviously customize the EXTROM cfg.txt file to your liking, and install anything and everything all at once.
Additionally the ROM itself still has some additional space for applications, so if you want to cook your own, there is some space available to add more.
Sorry I won't be able to answer any questions about this ROM, or handle issues on it for two weeks, so it's up to you if you want to try it (or just decompose it and look at the changes).
Enjoy, and I hope everything goes well.
Regards,
Robert.

Personal thoughts: I think this ROM gives some performance boost indeed, not much, but it is noticable. Nearly every bug is fixed now, only the bluetooth disconnect issue is left. My BA is fianlly shows itself disconnected when i take it off the cradle (with the previous ROMs, it often showed that it is still connected).
Enabling SmartDialing
Hi, I've tried this ROM & this definitely faster! Thanks!
But I can't seem to enable SmartDialilng by removing the "_" from the mfc80u.dll_ and msvcr80.dll_ files for SmartDial will start to work? These 2 files are missing from this ROM but even after I've copied these 2 files into the \Windows folder, SmartDialing still doesn't work. Any ideas?

In this case, you should use the harder way. Read step 4 of the upgrading process (see wiki) to upgrade via BaUpgradeUt.exe.

The nk.nba file needs to be converted back to nk.nbf regardless of whether you use MA_Upgrade or BA_Upgrade. I use MA_Upgrade. There is an modelid entry of the USER.rgu that should be changed to PH20B1. I'm not sure whether these *.rgu files need to be copied to the \windows dir or added back into the nk.nba file. Any thoughts KTamas, i'm thinking the later.

You don't have to do anything with RGU files at all. You need to use xda3nbftool (with editfix.bat if you want) to patch the ROM.

BTAVUI Error 0x37 opening WAV Driver wit TomTom6

After installing TT6 on WM2003SE, rebooting the system gives:
BTAVUI Error 0x37 opening WAV Driver wit TomTom6
TT6 modified \windows\BtCoreIf.dll and \windows\BtSdkCE30.dll
As a result, Microsoft Voice Command fails to run.
Anyone else has the same problem? Or know how to fix it?
With WM2003SE
Before TT6 installation:
BtCoreIf.dll & BtSdkCE30.dll are both Version 1.0.0.3900 from BroadComm Corp
After TT6 installation:
BtCoreIf.dll & BtSdkCE30.dll are both Version 1.4.1.74 from WIDCOMM Inc
I was able to replace the BtSDKCE30.dll, but the BtCoreIf.dll is always in-use and I can't overwrite it.

how do you get the 1.0.0 versions ?
Think i sorted it, rename BtCoreIf.dll to BtCoreIfold.dll and it now "seems" to work

BA WM5 System.Drawing.Bitmap Problem

Hello, im a software developer and im having an issue with a SX66 of mine upgraded to WM5. I figured someone would like to know about this, as every single WM5 upgrade for the BA i've tried still gives this error. It has to do with System.Drawing.Bitmap I thought someone could point me in the right direction, if this is a bug that can be fixed with the BA WM5 or a limitation of the actual device itself. here is the bug: (this program works fine on native WM5 devices and emulator, but has an exception when running on a WM5 BA)
I've installed all the WM5 builds from this site, TuMa, Helmi, etc All have the same problem.
Error occurs when trying to load a Bitmap from the resources folder into the program.
Code is here:
internal static System.Drawing.Bitmap Customers {
get {
object obj = ResourceManager.GetObject("Customers", resourceCulture);
return ((System.Drawing.Bitmap)(obj));
}
}
System.Drawing.Image and System.Drawing.Icon for getting resources work perfectly, its just System.Drawing.Bitmap that is having problems.

Did you install the DDraw/D3D driver? (its only a set of reg entries, actually, that switches the driver to use another one ) All the default WM5 BA bulds use ACE_DDI driver - it seems to have a lot of problems in various programs (mostly those with custom draw interfaces - try running PencilBox Deluxe - u'll see)
The driver is usually available in the package with ROM, as Extrom addon.
Answer?
Was this the answer? I tried the extra .dll but no change. Therefore wififofum, dynamo and bluesniper wont work on wm2005.
I am interesed in the solution, because the error on these programs is also related.

Same here i guess, and i seem to have the same rom as yours, also Helmi BA Aku.3.2 v1.3.2, but then on a qtek 9090.
I wonder, TBTB, what rom do you have, the 1.26 rom instead of the 1.32 rom? I have read that the pim and radio (?) are basicaly different. I dont want to try out when i am not sure, everything else works.
I use helmi's AKU 2.6 ROM. Remember to install DDraw driver add-on...
A different ROM
Ok then, then its worth a try i guess. I will download the 2.6 version tonight and give it a try.
Edit ----
Installed 2.6 and the extra DDraw driver, but no go. I got the same error (bitmap error) in the program 'sniper' and wififofum. Have reflashed it to 3.2 because that 1 worked fine on all other things. Maybe this problem gets solved in a newer ROM...
Any news on this problem
Kick
I was wondering if anyone has figured out a solution yet, still several programs aren't working in the WM2005 roms.

How far do you get?
Is it a Cab or Exe?
Do you get any error messages?

Ok. From this site:
http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
Choose this one from the list:
Pocketpc 2002 2003 arm/pxa
Move the unopened cab file to device with AS explorer function.
Tap it to install. (I have mine installed to SD card)
Mike
I have a really good reg editor here if you need it.
(Got it from.... a tool pack)
Since the upload doesn't allow this type of file... i had to zip it
anyway put it on the device of your htc phone and run it from there.
Note: its not an install, its an actual application
Another good reg editor is resco, and total commander.
(total commander's registry is in the root //)
Hi,
Wow, thanks. That worked without a hitch and I opened it up successfully on the phone. Thank you Mike, great help and right to the point. What did I miss? How would I have known that the 'PocketPC 2002.2003 (ARM/PXA)' was the file I needed for a HTC TyTNN II with Windows Mobile 6?
No to look at some of those useful edits, after a complete registry back up of course.

Just for general info on downloading file types:
Many sites offer a choice of different application file types to download I always go for the CAB file rather than the EXE file. The CAB file you install by putting it on the SD Card and tapping it. The advantage is that if you ever need to re-install you do not need your PC, just tap on the CAB again to install it.
For this and most devices nowadays you should choose:
ARM files
POCKETPC or PPC files (not smartphone)
