Any progress is good progress. Thanks for all the time and work you've put into this project. Unfortunately I've had to put the rom cooking sessions on hold for a while (the person who told me life was all about having fun lied to me), but you best believe I'll be back at it when I've got some free time.
Thanks again
Cheers

it is such easy to extract the nbh manually - and then use teh os.nb to dump....

right click on the RUU, extra, then use the signed.nbh file to extract

Sorry..i didn't knew what program you use to extract .nbh
And since most of your roms come in OS.nb format....that's why
Like i said...i am sorry that it doesn't do as much as for other devices for you guys ...but let's hope for the best.

Who cares? you can use the NBH extractor from your other kitchen. I'l start cooking with the Herald kitchen now (was using Artemis first, worked too)

hm, cant get it to extract the os.nb, or should I say it wont find it.
I put my os.nb in the hypercore/extract/source
I go to dumpRom and get this:

Weird...try again and close the explorer window first...it will delete the Extract folder before extracting the rom.

still the same error
this is what I did:
removed the old core
Installed your new one.
Dumpet the os.nb with asergs pack
copied the os.nb into extract/source
closed the explorer
started dumpRom
error
Tried other os.nb
same error

same thing happened to me anchillus
i was telling you about this on MSN lol

Does it first give you an error that MSVCR71.dll was not missing ? Or some other pop up error ?

Thanks to misar, FreePK for helping with this new set of tools!
About the Kitchen
Herald base: HTC WWE 4.17.405.2
OS base: VF Kaiser UK 3.08.161.0 (Build 19199)
OEM Apps removed, but you need to clean up the OEMDrivers package
I did not do any changes to the OS, because it should be a clean base Kitchen for all of you
Full XIP editing supported by the Kitchen
New tool to merge all dsm files to one big file and delete all rgu's
I think the OEM package to SYS problem should be solved... but did not try it yet
How to use it
Requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package
OEM and SYS can be used as known
The content of ROM\XIP will be used to create a new XIP section for the OS
You don’t have to worry about relocating modules... add/remove whatever you like and the new tools will take care of relocating modules or freeing RAM
.VM and .ROM is updated automatically
Actually this Kitchen runs in auto mode, which means you only need to run BuildNB.bat to create the ROM. You can change that by editing the bat files; made it this way, because I don’t use the options in BuildOS.exe
I consider this a perfect port of the new build to this device
Replaced all XIP SYS packages (I did not just changed coredll.dll to get the new build number)
There were also boot.rgu changes my MS, those have been added too
SYS is completely untouched
Read this for download:
All donations are very welcome!
I need to buy a new device, because this time my Trinity is gone forever and I cannot use my girlfriends Artemis without being killed (by mistake I deleted all contacts last time I used it for testing... she was not very happy about that )
When you are getting money for the ROMs you cook using my kitchen, I would really appreciate a donation.
I'm not talking about 50% of you incomes, but one small donation would be fair I think.
To download the Kitchen click at "All donations are very welcome"
!!! This was only meant for ppl never donated for these tools and expecting donations for ROM's created using my Kitchen !!!
Thanks to all those who have donated already!
Happy cooking!
Come on guys - the ROM (I installed a test version by bepe) has nothing inside - real barebone...
BUT it is BOOTING
And it is what I call "click n´get" = no lack when clicking start-settings
So start cooking...
And once again: IT is a KITCHEN === NO usable ROM!!!!
which one is the herald kitchen ?
nice release bepe, and misar

Nice. Downloading now, too. My firefox decided to bloat up to 1gb of RAM randomly and then crash... so I have to sit here waiting 17 minutes for Radipshare to let me download again. >.<

Forget about 19716, it is a very old build! Dont ask me about this logic.
19199 seams to be the final build, so please use this one. It's more stable, not beta like 19716, faster.
Now all I need is a way to bypass the flash center's 51.2mb limit and I'm in heaven. ;-) Awesome release. Cooking as we speak, instead of sleeping...

mmh, adding the old drivers from 6.0 doesn't work. Am i missing a step? Can anyone confirm that it works out of the box?

I'm working on a stripped version as well... For the touchscreen to work, make sure you have the touch.dll driver in your OEMDRIVERS or a TOUCH package with the needed touch.dll.

Cook any HIMALAYA ROM you LIKE

Himalaya Kitchen recook any HIMA ROM you like
I built a rom recooker, Well "2"
One for Himalaya, and one for Blue Angel "yes" BA That I'll B' on BA forum "Bye"
I have tested on both my BA,s and my HIMA bless IT, " been flashed some 50 or 60 times" both recooker's cook good rom's first time,
About the recooker's
A basic, Cooking from dump folder, it's all manual editing ! early wm5 style, Cooks WM 5.0 ' 6.0' 6.1 ROMs just like Ather90s kitchens it all runs from a single start.bat file, That has help text at every step' A walk through some TIPs, Comes with all required tools 'reg workshop' and 'HEX editors' that launch automaticaly at every step, File loaded and open ready to edit, Used tools and files are Backed UP and cleaned up at every step, keeping things nice and tidy, Full menu driven options, Once kitchen has been built to completion the kitchen will be ready !! And NOW ! You'll be making a coffee while the test rom flashes to your phone, 2 and milky for ME pls.
You can Make a COFFEE start this tool decompile your favorite ROM, Change "Say" desktop and splash screen's, of the Rom build and be flashing to your PHONE and your coffee's STILL too hot to Drink It's that simple
You can do moor advanced cooking than that i'm "no" programer and after reading about OEM_packages apply a bit of common sence ! your "COOKING"
I'v got HTC' calc, dialer, WMP, comm,s manager HTC today_*.TSK onscreen keyboard skin all cooked in now in the colors i want ! It took one evening for the BA, A bit of reading about editing ,*rgu ,*.reg and initflashfiles.dat the initflashfiles.dat is were you customize your program folders and move files to different folders Ie: WMP Skins need installing into wmp?? folder Download A WMP_oem and study IT u'll see
1 hr for the hima,
Please NOTE the test build is also part of the kitchen Setup process It takes 15 to 20 mins and if you do it "my way" it will work FIRST TIME Then you know your rom cooker works
Enjoy
Swampy395
Install reg editor first. Then "read" !! ReadMe First.txt in Kitchen_HIMA_0.1.0 folder Put in root of drive ie: c:\Kitchen_HIMA_0.1.0 for best results DO not rename any part or folders of this kitchen ! you can make your own Folders but not in the "dump" enjoy
P.S. If you don't see my custom images "set" windows default for today screen that should do it
Kitchen upgrade some new tools and help files added it shows more files than the old one, There are some files that are still hidden
don't unhide them or your rom won't work !
If you want to see the changes you will have to reset your kitchen (1) enter then (R) uppercase R enter this will delete any work you have !!

awesome
u ROCK brother !! thanks a lot for sharing.
I would like to use ImgFsTools to extract the OS.bin file from this rom so that i can test it on an emulator (windows mobile 6 sdk)
I extracted 03_OS.nb from the RUU_signed.nbh that comes in this rom however I'm not sure how to use the NBSplit
I tryied to NBSplit.exe -sp 03_OS.nb
i get 03_OS.nb.payload (132MB)
then i try to ImgfsFromNb.exe 03_OS.nb.payload test.bin
and i get
Code:
ImgfsFromNb 2.1rc2
ImgFs partition starts at 0x00000000 and ends at 0x00000000
Dumping IMGFS at offset 0x007897a8 (size 0xff876858)
Done!
and the test.bin file comes a 0 byte file
I'm guessing the problem is with NBSplit, any ideas on how to make this work right?
thank you in advance!
ps. Please dont be hard on me, this is the first time I'm working with these tools and I'm a total noob on these plz be gentle
Edit:
From the read me file i realised i need to know the following:
Code:
The -data and -extra options are for future devices for which there is not yet explicit support built into NBSplit: when a new device appears on the market, it's easy to find out the sector size and extra data size, and so NBSplit can be used right away (hopefully).
As an example, for Hermes the payload-chunk-size is 0x200, the extra-chunk-size is 0x08. For Kaiser it is 0x800 and 0x08.
Anyone knows how to find payload-chunk-size and the extra-chunk-size for Blackstone? thanks again!
use nbsplit -kaiser os.nb

thank you
EDIT:
Ok the extracted bin seems ok because after i did ImgfsToDump the files in the dump dir all seem fine.
However when i try to load the .bin to the device emu DeviceEmulator.exe "D:\Blackstone\test.bin" /cpucore ARMv6 /memsize 256 /video 480x800x16
I get "Invalid image file type; must be either .bin or .nb0 file."
So my next question is, this type of bin file extracted with the imgfstools is different format/type than the ones the emulator uses to run? Do I need to do some other kind of conversion to the .bin file?
Tuspidin your Timing is impeccable.
Thanks for Sharing.

i already had it on a CDMA diamond, it is nice. couldnt quite get album to work, and some of the graphics need resize, but new keyboard with arrows at bottom is nice.
new opera build 2649. it is up over at ppcgeeks. new camera, all kind of new things. also a new BPP 1.68 instead of the old 1.65.
so that is a lil preview of it all. hope it helps.
As anyone extracted the programs, etc from this rom??
Yes Volume Control and Social networking are Working.
I'm sharing these but you have do do a little searching.
To Bad the Phone Canvas has this weird Resolution.
Social networking only shows up with Youtube on my device even after replicating the Values in registry.
New Camera has some functions disabled by default.

[QUE] Made dump - got 4 .raw files - no .nbh or .nb - What's next?

Hello fellow HTC-ers!
I've made a dump of my Blackstone (using pdocread -l), all seems fine. Got 4 .raw files. Now, Dr. Jay in his movie says to "get" a .nbh file. From where?? I'm confused. Read several postings about IMGFS, but those didn't help me to get to the next step.
To be precise : I want to have a flashable backup of my original (NLD : Original NLD ROM - 1.14.404.3_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14) ROM before I install HSPL and start cooking my own. Preferably, I want to create this original flashable ROM myself, just to get familiar with the tools and the process.
Could anyone tell me where to go from here? (4 .raw files)
Thanks.
Grt., K.
ps. when I search this forum for ".nb" or "nbh" I get no hits.. Does the searchkey have to consist of a minimum number of characters?

Like the title says. Every now and then people are asking how to start cooking. Some do and others can't find all the needed ingredients. I start this thread for all of you that want to start and share knowledge about cooking. It will focus on the basics, everyone is invited to share. Believe me, it is no rocket science, just a tedious task and a bit time consuming

Like the title says. Every now and then people are asking how to start cooking. Some do and others can't find all the needed ingredients. I start this thread for all of you that want to start and share knowledge about cooking.
I know some of the senior cooks will take a look every now and then and contribute.
Above all, have fun and enjoy the cooking!

When is class # 1? I have played around a little with the Samsung i780 and actually flashed a ROM dump but never went far enough to learn about xip, packages, and other things. So I will stay tuned.
That's what I need to know , and package compiling, and ui tweaks, and some other things.
Hello my dear fellow cooks. Everything to start is in place. To make it easy to start I added 3 pictorials to install the kitchen, extract and build your first rom and a tutorial on how to add an OEM package. Links to all necessary reading are in post #3. I also added a clean 1.19 WWE rom with OEM and SYS to make an easy start. It now is up to your imagination.
Wow, thanks ! Soon I will be a great chef!
Hi,
I'm not a senior chef, but if I may, I will give you my contribute!

Hi,
Yeah, this is really worth a sticky!

Great that is what the thread is about.
Finally for HD....GRRRRRREAT
@kwbr
Here you are!!! it could be much easier for me to find this thread if you left me the link for the threads in your PM, anyway I found it accidently and not using the search option since I tryed it for hours but it didn't help a bit,
Anyhow thanks for opening a great helpful thread which I think it should be... sticky... sticky... sticky
After scrolling through the thread I still couldn't find answers to my questions. So here they are:
-From which folder do I need to delete the program folders that needed to be deleted? (SYS, OEM, or TEMP) Since some of them have duplicates.
-How about the registry do I need to edit anything after all or deleting the folders only would do the trick?
-What's the difference between using the buildos.exe and the buildos+package_tools-2.7 and what is the proper use for either of them?
-in some posts it mentioned that you can add a program by placing it's package to the "OEM or SYS" folder What's the difference if I put the packages in OEM folder rather than SYS folder? do i need to do any registry changes? If so then where?
-Do I need to use the buildos+package_tools-2.7 after all and along with placing the packages in the OEM or SYS folder?
Cleaning up the registry is quiete easy, too. Use an editor with a "search in files" functionality and use it in order to find the files containing your registry keys/values.

-Can you name me a good editor to use?
-What would be the best way to change in manila's, using the packages method or replace them directly from their location in the kitchen?
-The final and most delicate question is how can I integrate the registration info in a shareware program package?

~Retred~ [KITCHEN|6.1 OEM|6.5 OEM|Guide] [Joshkoss Kitchen port for Rhodium]

Hey guys,
THANKS for the tools and kitchen components:
Abusalza,TPC,Zelendel,DA_G,Medkid,Phamquang,Tom_Condon,BEPE,Evirus,UDK,Olipro..
I don't have a rhodium myself but recently was contacted by two close friends that are familier with my works in kaiser, hermes, and now fuze.
Basically Long story short, They asked if it was possible for me to port my kitchen over to Rhodium.. Too which i have!!
It has taken hours and is now complete!!
It contains, SYS,XIP,and OEM from latest Rhodium. But in toolset folder you will find oemxip if you feel like upgrading to the latest 6.5
also on the next post i plan on detailing how i did this manually
trust me it was painstaking and needs to be documented.
Peace,
Josh

Rom Basics "well sorta"
To dump a OEM rom:
1: Download the oem rom.
2 Extract the ruu.nbh out of the .exe file it comes in using 7zip
3: open nbhutil.exe and extract the os.nb out of the ruu.nbh
4 drag the os.nb onto DumpTools\imgfs tools\dump_800.bat
5 drag new imgfs folder onto DumpTools\Packagebuilder.exe "this will create your basic file structure"
6 Drag os.nb.payload onto the DumpTools\Dump xip\dumpxip.bat "this will dump xip section of the rom"
7 in xip folder now drag each dsm file onto the DumpTools\Packagebuilder.exe "this will create your new xip folder structure"
8 to create your ext packages you will need to go through the newly dumped oem folder and pick packages you want and drag then onto the DumpTools\EXT_PAckages_rebuilder.exe "evirus Thanks"

To edit shortcuts in the rom:
1 open oem\oem_lang_0409\initflash.dat with notepad and edit paths as you want.
2 in each ext package you will find app.dat, open these with notepad and edit.
3 in oem packages you will find initflash.txt, open these with notepad and edit.
Click to collapse
To create a ext package from a cab:
1 drag the target .cab file onto the DumpTools\cab2oem.exe and this will create a oem package.
2 drag the new oem package onto DumpTools\EXT_PAckages_rebuilder.exe, this will create your new ext package.
3 now you can place your new ext package in the Kitch_Rhode\ext\all\*.* for it to be in the rom.

To change your name on the flashing screen:

How to make kitchen compatible for 6.5:
1 edit build_rom.bat
2 on this link : set OLDKERNEL=1
3 remove the 1 so it looks like this: set OLDKERNEL=
now you can use real nk.exe for 6.5
4 in toolset2 folder you will find oemxipkernal for 6.5 you will need to copy this into your rom\xip folder "delete the one in there currently" NOW you can **** a decent 6.5 rom

Thx for the kitchen. I tried to cook a 23409 ROM, but after flashing the TP2 stops at bootscreen (the one with all the red version information)
I replaced the 409 and the OEM part with the ones from the 0407-Lang-File from here and the OEM from a dump of my german TP2.
I followed your instructions at the 2nd post here.
Does anyone have any ideas what goes wrong?
PS: maybe let the kitchen creating a logfile could be a good idea

stopped at splash screen could be missing wincles module.. or corrupt xip.. did you replace xip for that also...
for 6.5 replace oemxip in rom folder with the one in toolset2 folder then use the new msxipkernal from dag
Good idea on the log file.. i'll look into that.
edit: I'm going to create a separate 6.5 kitchen for you guys and i'll put it on post 1 for you this evening.
congrats on porting our kitchen to rhodium i know this was alot of work now i just need to buy a rhodium so i can use it lol.

Ok, got it working with your oemxipkernel. My own didn't work, don't know why. Now it boots, but with the start of every exe-file which does not com from MS or HTC i get a question if i really want to start it. My sdkcerts and policies from xperia seems to don't work. Will wait now for your 6.5-kitchen
