AFAIK, the only way at this point is to take the back off the phone.

Send it through the dryer, may be
It still able to even turn on after that? Impressive. So by not booting at all, does that also mean you tried going into the recovery console with no luck?

I was able to get into the recovery thingy using the power button + up volume. I tried using the htc restore but it couldn't find the device because its stuck at the loading screen and it is unrooted.
If it's unrooted, just try to run the Sprint RUU.
BTW, stick it in a bag of rice for a few days - it'll help draw out the moisture.

thanks but thats just a tear down. not specific instructions with the screen. i could probably take time to figure out but i wouldnt want to mess up the phone worse so i can't use it. im not confident enough with a phone tear down.

[Q] [Solved] Broken power/unlock button?

Hello everyone
I've had my incredible s for about 9 months now
All of a sudden, my power/unlock button has lost its clickiness.
I have to really press it hard, and it just mushes in, without any feedback.
Its lost its responsiveness too
My question is, has anyone got this problem as well? I didn't drop it or anything.
do I need to take it back to be repaired?
Thanks in advance!

Mine has been like that since new.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
Mine used to click, now it just mushes.
So yours has always mushed, even with the back cover off?
I'm thinking about taking it back to my carrier store and see what they can do about it.

Did you ever find out about it. I'm thinking of contacting HTC about it and see if they will fix it. Its really annoying I can only turn my phone on when I hold it in my right hand as no other way works.

I noticed this happen within a couple of months of usage with my IncS. Didn't bother me much so I did not fuss about it.
Send it to HTC, they will fix for you. My friend has done this.
Cheers...
Im a bit worried that they will look at it, it still works just not as well, and think I am being too fussy. I think it is getting better though, any worse and I will take it back.
Virtuous Affinity now has volume unlock so I use that now
Thanks for the responses guys

Yeah I might just wait a bit longer and then send it in to be fixed if it gets any worse.
Mine is a bit tricky too, this the only thing that keeps me away from unlocking and flashing ics...

You can always s-on again if it starts to get worse
I will wait until I dont need my phone everyday and then will send it to be fixed. They don't give you a replacement do they?
This issue must be a design flaw as we all have the same problem.

You are using affinity, use the built in virtuous tweak to unlock with volume rocker. That might keep your power button working longer.
I recently bought a phone (3 months ago..), a IncS..., I didnt know these problem with the power botton, what a problem...

BTW removing the sd I noticed that without the back panel the power button have a more "natural" feeling and responsiveness, it seems like that is limited by the back cover..

I found that too, but now it's lost all its click and just mushes
@incrediblealex have you got it back yet? And, did you send it to your carrier or straight to HTC?
And it shouldn't matter if they update it, you can always downgrade with a goldcard.
I think that Inc S has a design flaw when it comes to the power button (just like the USB port) and I think this is affecting most of the Inc S phones out there. The thing is, very few people bother complaining about the degraded functionality of the button, as it still does the job pretty well.
My Inc S's power button lost the clickiness within 1 month from purchase...It still works, but not the way it used to.
In my opinion, if you send it back to HTC Service Centre, they will fix it, but it will brake again as they probably use the same part/component to fix/replace the mechanism.
My advice would be to sell the phone, if that power button really bothers you.

My incs has that very slightly. It doesn't effect the usage though no? I don't think much can be done apart from replacing parts, I wouldn't worry unless it gets annoying

Trouble with fingerprint reader

I have to say that this fingerprint reader sucks. I can barely get it working and may end up returning the phone over this. They should have left it the way it was because it is really bad.
Which S10 is that and do you have that factory screen protector film on?
It's also been suggested that you don't need to press too firmly on the display. Making sure you touch the right area, as well.
I have the S10+ and I have tried everything. It keeps telling me to press harder but it only works about 20% of the time. It's awful.

I've seen a review where the guy gets it 10 out of 10 times. I wonder if it depends on your finger/print shape,
I would like to know what is different. I have also registered my fingerprints multiple times as well.

Search The phone for an update! I've read/saw many ppl mention that a software update from Samsung fixed those issues.
Got my s10+ and using the Samsung screen protector and I have no issues whatsoever.
So I've been messing around and registered my thumb 3 times and it seems to be working a little better now. I will continue testing with it.
Did you update? The is a fingerprint improvement in the update.
Having the same issues with the fingerprint sensor. Checked for an update almost as soon as I opened the box, but it indicates it's up-to-date so now I'm clueless. I'm continuing to play with it, but if I can't get some improvement it's going back.

Hmmm... Thanks for the info. I do have the unlocked. That makes more sense because there's always an update for a new phone & there's no way Samsung would release this because the reader is atrocious!
