yes please i'm looking too for a french ROM with touch pleaseeeeeeeeeeee

localized ROMs
I will never understand why people are into localized languages in their roms.
For me, as beeing german, translations of technical things are always a mess. Sometimes I have to re-retranslate the words (german- english - german) to figure out, what could be meant. And sometimes the translations are so bad that they are complete nonsense! The reason for this is pretty obvious: Translaters are not technicians.
Nope, I prefer WWE, Software- and MenuNames, as invented.....

Not as brilliant as Italians... we do not use CREAM and MAYONNAISE to hide our recipe errors or to enrich an otherwise poor taste...
A proud Italian cook!

LMAO
I agree, Italian food is fantastic
Italian and mexican...thats the way food should be cooked

Just to totally hijack the the thread
Mexican is good, but they tend to use a lot of spices to cover their asses.
Almost every dish I have tried in the Mexican kitchen consists of some kind of minced meat or chicken and two tons of mixed spices. Love it though.
Italian food is the best. Although a bit heavy on the pasta.
French food tends to be a bit "over the top". Fancy dishes with little actual food.
Norwegian food is terribly boring, both to look at and to eat but it is nutritious.
I used to prefer the "original" English versions of all software, but since most of our customers use localized versions it is handy to know what they are talking about and also handy to give proper directions.

Yes I prefer also an English operating system but it goes a bit further...
Somethimes its not very Practical to buy lets say an PDA with an English rom if you live in France or in Germany. Yes you could buy them via the internet...and then when you need a waranty repair, what happens then?
A while ago I bought a second hand Herald with a Dutch WM5 on it. Great but then it broke down...as I live in France I had 2 options. Send my phone to Belgium or send it to France. The negative feedback and procedures of waranty repairs in Belgium made me decide to go for France...
I had my phone back in a bit more than a week, it took them 7 working days...Not bad hé!
But they changed my Belgian phone...It came back with a French keyboard and a French WM6 on it! No problem, I whas going to sell this one and so I can sell it easy in France now.
So i bought another one...from Switserland (a bit cheaper there) with a German rom...I would prefer English but I can also live with German. And gues what, if it brakes down(touch wood!!!!) I bring it back to the shop...they can f*ck about with sending it in for waranty...

What language for next 3 Touch-IT roms

Im gonna make a few "foreign" (to me) language roms just to see how that works out, im not gonna do all, I wont have time for that. Im gonna make a poll, and you guys can vote for wich language I shall make a touch-It rom for.
Ill make the 3 that gets most votes from the languages I suggest in the poll.
But if there is many enough, and you many donate to Tom Codon, I will make a few more
But I have upcoming projects I have to start on, so there will only be one release of each language, no beta, no v1.1 only v1.0. If you find bugs, you have to do the research to fix it.
Hope you find that ok
cheers
edit.
is there a duch wm6?
if so, post a big red 1, and ill compare when poll time is out ok
Where's Dutch?
Greetz RR69
hey itje, keep up the good work.... fantastic rom... however, if I only could vote for a dutch version, that would be nice... if not, i'm very happy with the wwe version. tnkx
why dutch...

Just vote for the german version. Its almost the same.
Hey...i vote for the german too!
If you can creat a greek version, is better, but i know the words in greek are very dificult!!!
Very nice ROM...you are the best Itje!!!
German and Dutch are not quite the same. We have windmills, Germans have zimmer frei. We do pot, they eat sausages with their beers. We have Delfts Blauw and Germans.. uhm.. well maybe Berlin Black I don't know.
Anyway, I vote DUTCH
I vote Dutch Too.. thats 2 for dutch.
Greetz RR69
make that 3
Itje if necessary i can give you the dutch RUU for wm6
Dutch, for real.
I think that your work is fantastic and the touch-it rom work's perfect... And I really think that doing foreign rom's is realy great... I'm not trying to kiss ass to make you choose to make a danish rom... because i don't think it's that a big issue but the only problem i have is that i'm missing æ,ø and å on my keyboard so if you ore sombody could make that happen would just be great...
I was looking for a German Touch ROM a long time!
But please make it black not blue!
Thanks for your work!

intermediate results
I was curious about how the voting results would look like, if you consider the different population of the countries and did an estimation of the voting-counts based on the following population:
(german notation: '.' for digit-grouping, ',' for decimals)
germany 82.300.000 ppl (17 votes)
italy 59.100.000 ppl (1 vote)
spain 45.100.000 ppl (2 votes)
holland 16.300.000 ppl (4 votes)
sweden 9.100.000 ppl (2 votes)
denmark 5.500.000 ppl (2 votes)
My results:
germany 17,0 votes
italy 1,39255 votes
spain 3,64966 votes
holland 20,1963 votes
sweden 18,08791 votes
denmark 29,92727 votes
well....denmark leads for now...

[Q]From Dutch to English in HTC touch HD

Hi guys,
I am about to buy a HTC touch HD, but I live in the Netherlands and I dont speak dutch...
So before I spend a lot of money, i was wondering if it would be possible to find a way to change the operating system language form dutch to english (or French).
Since I am (really) a newbie, I would appreciate any link to a tutorial.
Cheers

Wait till the HardSPL releases. Flash English/French ROM and you're done
Thx a lot.
I have now 2 questions
What is a HardSPL (and how do I use it?) and
When is it gonna be released?
It was 3 questions actually
1. Read the wiki on Hard SPL (answers questions 1 and 2)
2. they are still working on the HSPL for the HD, see the sticky.. As soon as it is available you will notice it..
why don't you buy the www version? i am dutch and also speak it and i could choose the nl version and the www version, you can do that on many dutch sites.
If you want if for free (or a small amount) with a subscripion, some mobile-operators will only sell dutch version of HD.
not at PDAshop.nl for instance. But their phones are a bit more expensive then when you buy them in the shop...
Well I maybe could buy it online but I would have to pay a lot.
Here I am buying it with the KPN flexible contract, and I have the phone for free.
They told me that they were selling it only with the dutch version (which is not very logical when you see the number of foreigners in Holland who dont speak dutch...)
I could have the HTC Diamond in English but I d rather wait a little bit for the HardSPL to be released.
By the way I tryed to look on the wiki to see how to use the HSPL, but I did not find it, if someone could give me the link I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Just buy a WWE version. In the netherlands most shops sell both, also with a KPN contract. Check for example this shop. I think that is the best way to go for you, other than waiting for a hardspl
This website looks interesting but its in dutch!! And from what I have understood if I wanna have the phone for free with the KPN flexible, I need to take the 45euros/month.
In the shop they give it to me for 27.5 euros/month with internet included...
But thanks anyway for the help
I can't imagine the HD for that amount of money! I think it's without data use, the costs of it will be on top of the € 27,50.
No! everything is included!!
Thats why I couldnt believed it at first too!
And thats also why I am gonna wait patiently for the HSPL to be released
What you can also do is go for the 45 euro option...you will have internet and all..
After 3 months you can downgrade your subscription for free to any amount you want. Even the 20 euro one.
Nofi.. But how about you learn the language of the country you are living in? like all foreigners should do..
And how about you teach me dutch in two weeks?
Did I tell you that I didnt want to learn dutch?
This is where i bought a HD at a very sharp price; it's also available in English (2 weeks delivering time)
http://www.2call.nl/telefoons/htc/touch_hd_en
The site is in dutch, but you must have some dutch ppl round you that are willing to help i hope, they're not all jerks..
Thanks for the post. I live in Amsterdam and had the same issue. Tried all stores and they all looked at me like I am crazy for asking for an English version. Anyhow, not sure if you already got one, but I tried the suggestion and went with www.2call.nl. Got mine in less than 2 days. They have the EN version in stock now. T-Mobile has a great deal now, 2 years contract, 29 euros per month for 300min, and free internet for 2 years...

Topas from UK in Germany

Hello,
I intend to order the unlocked HTC Touch Diamond II at amazon.co.uk for using in Germany.
Please, could someone confirm, if this device will work in German mobile networks, especially in ePlus?
Please don't laugh if you think it's a dumb question
Hello!
Please tell me why you want to buy this in the UK? The Price isn't better and if it is broken you have to send it to UK back. You can buy the phone in Germany for round about 430 Euro (PDAMax.de)
But I think, this will also work for Germany because it's only another language.
Not sure if it will help but..
I have just travelled from the UK, through Holland, into Germany to the Nurburgring, back to the UK via Spa & have had perfect reception hopping over onto different networks
Cheers, Shane, (UK)
Hello twoutlaw,
thank you for your reply.
I want the English version of the TD2... I could purchase the German one at amazon.de - the online shop I trust
I would get it at amazon.co.uk for ~ 30-40 EUR more than from the German branch; it's OK for me for this deal.
Why I'm thinking about the compatibility: please take a look at the screenshot of the German TD2. It tells us, that the German device has the "DE" radio version (Funkempfängerversion). I don't know, if the "GB" radio will work here. It should, I think

Hello Shane,
sure, it really helps me! Were you also "roamed" to ePlus being in DE?
Hi,
Not sure really as I was too busy having fun, but I know I had reception at all times & must have had about 6 to 8 text messages, saying welcome to ??? network
Cheers again, Shane

You should write it down; it will be the Sentence Of The Century once upon the time!
Thank you for the info and kind regards!
It works
The English Topaz works perfectly in Germany.
I’ve just got Dutch Topaz and it’s perfectly works in Russia. Don’t worry. Take it. U can also take Topas in Germany and re-flash it using HardSPL to official English rom.

It quite difficult..LoL....something the spanish academy of linguistics should check...LoL...since you have made a very good sentence unique in the world...
After translating his sentence 18 times I get this sentence: Bezhee Abasalissan Order feather duster, Buber how? I think that was the intention of his sentence, which translated to Order a feather duster Bezhee Abasalissan, Buber, how? after translating it to english to arfikanese or something then hungarian it finally makes sense! I used yiddish, spanish, polish, irish, italian, persian, swedish, hebrew, korean, chinese, thai, dutch and a bunch more.... BTW
