Yes! you can upgrade to any Radio (GSM) version, the upgrade process is very simple and self explanatory, download the Radio Rom zipfile, extract the zipfile anywhere on you Pc,you'll find five files in the extracted zipfile...connect phone with Pc via USB cable, establish connectivity...just execute the 'romupdateutility' application in the extracted folder with five files on your Pc ,follow the instructions thereafter, let it complete, reboot your phone it'll be upgraded.
You can download Radio 2.69.11
http://rapidshare.com/files/23953151/2.69.11.rar.html
good luck

You don't need to be CID unlocked to flash a new GSM. I flashed nearly all of them at one point or another way before I ever got around to CID unlocking mine.

How do you upgrade ROM?

hi,
i looked around for instructions on how to upgrade the ROM but i couldn't find any.
i have a very old ROM and i want to upgrade it to the latest ROM that includes the A2DP, etc.
how do i go about installing it? is it like installing a regular application? i have a Qtek 9100.
thanks,
Re: Simple guide - Unlock Vario and update to other ROMs
For anyone else who has had the same problem as we did, follow these simple instructions:
First download lokiwiz v2b. Don't use previous versions or you'll not get through this!!
Hard reset your device (not necessary, but it ensures you'll have no hassle with Activesync).
Done that? Good. Extract the lokiwiz v2b .zip folder and copy enablerapi.cab to your memory card or to 'My Documents' folder on your device. Then execute the 'enablerapi.cab'.
Done? Just switch off the device (power button; put it in standby mode).
If you have Activesync already installed, un-install it and re-install directly afterwards (ensure a brand new partnership).
Then when prompted by Activesync, plug in your USB cable PC-PPC and it should recognise as usual.
Then execute the lokiwiz.bat file (in the folder that was generated earlier when you extracted the lokiwiz02b.zip file) and when you see the MS Dos (black screen) choose the option CID Unlock (SuperCID) and wait for it to COMPLETELY finish. You'll know it's finished when your Wizard is re-booting. Plug out your USB cable at this stage.
Once re-booted and back into WM5, re-connect your cable and if all goes well it should re-connect to Active Sync (wait till it has finished syncing or says connected!).
Finally......double click the executable file, which should be:
RUU_Prodigy_1060701_101_11310_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe
Hopefully it will now install the ROM without hiccups (about 10 minutes).
Sorry to you gurus for the lengthy explanation, but some of us are still relatively inexperienced to this and a thorough (if you can call it that) explanation of the processes will really be appreciated. I certainly have done when some of guys broke it down to me in the past.
I'm hoping this ROM will not dissapoint me as the others have done, as I've been getting quite frustrated and angry about the whole WM5 & HTC thing.
Good luck.

thanks for finding the informaiton for me!
Thanks for the breakdown. I am new to all this, and not too au fait with all the developer terms, and it can be quite intimidating!
I have an O2 branded XDA Mini S and want to use it with Vodafone SIM card. The device is unlocked, so I can make and receive calls - good start!
However, I want to get rid of all the O2 branding and install the vodafone GPRS/SMS/MMS etc. settings. From what I've read on the forums, the O2 stuff slows the unit down, and it will all be irrelevant anyway. Does the extended ROM you refer to above then get the unit into an "unbranded" state?
Basically, I just want the unit without any trace of O2 (boot splach screen, O2 active etc.) and to be able to put the Vodafone settings in manually...
Thanks
Thanks mackaby007 - managed to update rom using your instructions, and got rid of O2 screen using aWizard!
Unlock to Lock
Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to lock the phone back so for example if I had to send it to T-Mobile.
Thanks

I have the exact same problem. Both Loki and aWizard don't work.
Typically when you want to downgrade your phone to an earlier (or shipped version) you need to first downgrade it to Button's 1.05, then you can "upgrade" to back to the desired 1.x or 2.x ROM.
Is that what you're asking?

how is possible to downgrade the wizard phone to 1.05?
I have a T-mob wizard phone with inside IPL 2.21.0001,GSM 2.19.11, OS 2.21.2.6.
Have I to follow the below step?
1)dovngrade to 1.05 . Is necessary only OS or boot loader and ratio too?
2)perform again the flashing procedure.

looks to me that you have a "G4" chipset, I can tell because you are reporting the IPL 2.21.0001 and not just IPL 2.21 Maybe someone else can verify this???? If so please please DONT try to flash before you have researched "G4" chipset flashing first
Dear sir,
you true!!
I have just read a post were is explained that if you have G4 chip is not possible to downgrade or upgrade the ROM.
Bootloaders (IPL/SPL) with .0001 at the end of the version are G4 flash chips.
This info will be very halpefully for everybody need to perform any flashing action on wizard phone.
Do you confirm that is actually not possible to solve this issue?

Alex

I am very confused...
OK.
My wizard have G4 chip inside.
I was been able to remove the SIM lock.
If I try to CID unlock the device I receive CID unlocked successfull but after a ROM update the device stuck at startup.
Now...if I pay on http://www.imei-check.co.uk/ 20£ will be possible to change the ROM?
JAFWM
Hi,
I discovered a SW named JAFWM that is able to flsh evry ROM.
Is this true?
@squarna - Sorry mate but TBH with myself not having a G4 chipset Ive not taken much notice of any post relating to them, if no one else jumps in soon try starting a new thread with the title like "G4 chipset What roms work?" or something and good luck!

Updating/Reverting just the radio rom?

So I think the next step to my weird repeater issue that I've been noticing is to update just the radio rom.
The stock USA TMO MDA comes with GSM rom 01.09.10, and I think that might be the reason why I can't auth to these GSM repeaters in this building.
Anyone point me to directions and rom updates for the radio rom? Also, is it possible to back up the current radio rom incase I want to switch back?
Also, last question, will updating the radio rom kill all the data on the device?
Thanks for any info.
I'm confused....
is the MDA a wizard or a wallaby?
You'll find the rom's on the ftp site....(and you sound find the older/current radio rom there just in case)
ftp://xda:[email protected]
no...it won't kill the data....

TMO (USA) MDA is a Wizard.
I downloaded the updated rom on the ftp site, but it doesn't have the 01.09.10 radio rom that is currently on there. That's why I was asking if there is a way to back up the current radio rom incase I want to revert to 100% stock TMO.
In the radio roms directory is 01.09.10 from a cingular.....but I don't know if there is any difference.....
You can backup your OS and Radio ROM with awizard http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386&start=0
Your T-Mobile is a MDA Vario (wizard), not a MDA (wallaby).

Actually, I just accomplished just that. Backed up the radio rom, updated it with the most recent radio rom... and it still wont work. There's something to these repeaters that is not letting these phones auth.
My T-Mobile MDA is a Wizard, I know. It's called the MDA in America, while most of the world knows the MDA as a Wallaby.
I should just call it a Wizard and avoid confusion.

Is your device a G3 or a G4? -- If you don't know you haven't read enough.
Is your device CID unlocked? -- If you didn't do it yourself then it is locked. If you don't know how to unlock you haven't read enough.
Have you read and understood all the Sticky posts in this forum?
What OS is on the PC you are flashing from? If it is MS Vista, you haven't read enough.
Have you tried flashing from a second PC?
Have you rebooted the PC you are flashing from?

Which Radio Should I Use?

Hey everyone, I have a G4 8125 and I've updated to WM6 with TouchFLO.
I've recently been having some problems with service and receiving calls, texts and even sometimes voicemails. Usually a power cycle fixes the problem. At random times people will tell me they just texted me or called me and even after the power cycle, I never get them.... I've been reading about radio's and such, and was wondering if anyone with my info and location has any experience!
My Phone's Info:
ROM Version: 6.0.0.0 WWE
ROM Date: 2/02/07
Radio Version: 02.25.11
I'm located in Chicago and I have a G3 ATT SIM card.
Thanks for any input!
try radio 2.19.11 it's the only one that works for me.
I prefer radio 2.19.11! Even the new radio 2.71.11 is not better in my opinion.
I have not tested 2.19.11 but my 2.71.11 works wonderfully...
I recently upgrade my O2minis G3 with Radio 2.61.11 and it's going to die , when turn on the device it don't show the GSM version, only IPL, SPL and OS, und it hat no phone signal. WHo can help me ? Please

I'm having the same problem with mine. I just upgraded to WM6.1 Professional Vista Splash. I just flashed the radio version 02.19.11 to the phone and I still keep losing service. Could it be I need to change my ISL, which is 1.05 and my SPL, which is 2.25 to the 3.08 version?
