Toggle switch in SIM card slot? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

While trying to install a dual SIM card on my Tilt, I noticed a two-way toggle switch that would hide behind the SIM card when inserted. Anyone know what it's for?
The user's manual shows nothing.

That is probably the switch that lets the phone know the sim door is locked.

Ah, yes, yet another mystery of the universe is solved. Thanks.

Diamond locked? sim missing

Hi,
when I turn my diamond tells me Sim missing although it is inserted.
Does that mean sim is locked? How do I find out which operator has blocked the phone?
thank you
hmmm
You shoudnt be getting that at all - make sure its making contact - secondly try it in a few other phones and thridly do other sim cards work in your diamond?
i had the same problem, because the sim you can insert both ways.
check that you don't have the sim upside-down, the cut edge should be near the battery and not to the bottom, i hope you understand what i mean
Thank you very much.
the sim was not turned and I noticed I was!

No sim card inserted

I have a galaxy s6 for tmobile. I have been using it fine for a while but the other day it gave me an error saying no sim card is inserted. I had a spare sim card and tried that one with no luck. I tried both sim cards in a different phone and worked with no problem. I have read about people dropping the phone and having sim card issues but thats not the case phone was not dropped. I noticed the sim card issue when i took it out my pocket to send a message and was not able to. the only thing i can think of is the sim card reader is shot some how?
I was wondering if there any other options for me to check before i go and get a new sim reader soldered in?
thanks in advance

No sim card, comes and goes..

My devices sometimes cannot read the sim card, and some times it can. No matter what sim I use, what ROM I use, and I've even tried another sim card reader, but the problem seem to be something else.
Anyone experienced this?
I've been looking for a way to emulate a sim card, like a soft sim solution, but it seem this is not easy..
Maybe it's time to let the old m7 retire...
Anyway, thanks to all contributors in this community, it's been awesome. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Maybe the sim card isn't making a good contact when inserted in the tray, A few ppl got a similar issue and used paper to shim the sim card (not recommended since your sim tray can get stuck). I would try another sim first...

Yes, that's a common issue. The first steps was to use a little tape on the sim, second step was to try another sim, third step was to open the device and take out the sim reader, clean it with ethanol, check every pin and so on, then I tried another sim reader, but the problem still remains.
I too have the same problem, of signal on and off. I think the device detected the SIM card as it asked for PIN to unlock. I tried the *#*#4636#*#* to choose WCDMA only / preferred, but still same problem. So, did you retire the beautiful phone of yours?

Since not even replacing the sim reader solved the problem, it can no longer be used as a phone.
And anyway, the battery is getting seriously old, so when my dogs destroyed my remote control, the good old HTC one m7 now have a new life, filled with joy and happiness.
Anymote app is nice, and m7 are now a media control hub in my living room.
Since April 29 2013 this device have improved my life quality, with the good help from this great community on XDA.

Way to remove SIM 1/2 icons from dialer / messages?

Is there a way to remove the SIM icon from the messages / dialer?
It seems silly they keep it there for those using a SIM with a SD card.

i agree i hate that
There's a way to switch the phone from dual SIM mode to single SIM mode but i can't remember which service menu off hand... I know switching the libsec-ril to one from a single SIM model will do the trick but I'm positive there is a setting you can use as well. I'll try to find it.

Dual SIM physically blocked.

Hello All,
I've been looking to add a 2nd SIM to my wife's phone as she'd like to have separate numbers for work/life.
When I opened up the SIM tray I saw that the tray has an empty slot for 1 SIM card and another for SD card. there is a shape of the 2nd SIM slot on the tray, but it isn't fully cut out.
So I went to a few mobile repair shops around my area and was told they can order a tray for us, but it probably won't work as the phone is probably locked in software.
I know the phone isn't carrier locked, since I can switch carriers freely, so what can be the reason some unknown entity went out of their way to lock this phone to a single-SIM only?
And is there a way to unlock the 2nd slot?
Thanks!

Hi
I would take A gable and get a cheap sim tray of the bay and see if it works.
I have 2 sim and Micro SD in mine. If it is software lock i think you could flash A different region software to unlock it. Or It could be blocked as the sim reader only has the pins to read 1 sim card witch could be need hole new sim reader slot.
You could try cut out the plastic blocking the second slot
