What would you do?!!insurance are paying £450!need opinions!

Hi all!
My phone insurance just notified me as they are unable to source a new Xda2i they will instead send me a cheque for £450. I can basically spend it how I wish, but I'm resisting the temptation to go out and buy a set of wheels for my new car!
I have the car holder, sync cable, aluminium case etc all for an Xda2i - so I think I'll Ebay myself an Xda2i for around £150-180 ish.
Or do I go for an Exec at around £400 ish?
Or do I go for a K Jam/ Wizard for around £350 AND get an Xda2i ?
Or shall i try out the Ipaq equivalent?
what do you guys think ?!!
cheers!
Dennis! West London UK! (oh - and respond to my 2GB topic below!!)
A lot of Beer
OR
I would get the XDA IIi and then wait a couple of months for the Hermes (K-JAM update)....
But I definately would not go for the Universal as it's way too big... I had one but gave it to my father. He uses it for push mail, etc; not really as a phone!
Your money, your choice. Tell us what you do buy...
Thanks
ive just got an xda 2i as an insurance replacement.

DennisCooper - who the hell do you insure with!?
I've just got reimbursed on my damaged Magician, and I'm afraid to announce that I've jumped ship to the Mio A701 (should be here today, I'm so impatient)... looks like I'll have to keep my head down from now on on XDA forums, lol...

Well this is a good sign - Kaiser featured on T Mob Coming Soon page

http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobile-phones/coming-soon/
hurrah!
but whhhheeeeeennnnn!!!
It's nice to see T-Mobile also release early information and photos on there phone. Unlike some company I know.
Yeah - I don't see specs yet altho you can see em on other sites.. but hey - I gotta be ahppy for all the shreds of evidence i get!!
;-)
I've heard varying tales of when the Vario III will actually be available to UK customers though - from "already available for upgrades" to "October sometime"
I am trying to be patient & avoid spending £500 on a SIM free unit, but its getting more difficult each day
Yeah its been up on the site a couple of weeks now...

Want!
whoops! sorry just found my way back here after a while away [a year!]
T-Mobile MDA Vario III on dutch T-Mobile site now too
Yep...
Finally!
But the order form warned me for a "possibly very long delivery time"...
Oh...
I forgot to mention I already have the simlock-free HTC TyTN II for free from the insurance, because my Vario/Wizard was broken...

-= Available at T-Mobile UK =-

Confirmed. Just poped in yesterday to T-Mobile on Princess St., Edinburgh, asked for it and manager just took out one from under the counter.
In his opinion i signed the first contract in the UK (been in the shop at 7pm, stock arrived at 6pm) but I doubt it .
So for £100-handset, 12months contract, £20/monthly this toy is mine.
!!!!!!
That is ridiculous pricing!! I wonder how fast I can get up to Edinburgh...
Just been on the T-Mobile website, and they seem to be in the process of updating a few things... and the Vario II has gone missing from the list of available phones, so it looks like the Vario III may be coming!
Think they started shipping last Wednesday if you phoned them up. I phoned on Thursday, got mine Friday.
First contract in the country indeed
Me too, phoned Thursday, got mine first thing Friday 26th.

Heh, I've had mine since last Saturday! Some have had theirs since last Thursday, so that store manager is a week behind the times!
Sigh....
Did we really need yet another thread about T-Mobile availability....?
Anyway, give it a few more hours and the place will be flooded wit AT&T Tilt..
To be fair though, most of the other posts in the threads about T-Mobile are relating to upgrades, and no-one has really said a lot about pricing and contracts etc. I'm on O2 at the minute, but I like the look of Web 'n Walk and obviously am very interested in the Vario III, so I'm keen to hear what kind of prices new customers are looking at. I also want to be able to walk into the store and take a look at the handset, or order online, where most of the other posts (if not all) involve customer service phone calls.
Well, I got mine through Scancom. Ordered last Friday, £0 for the phone, on the Flext 35 package with 1gb WnW at £37.50 for 18 months.

Vario III arrived today.

I've had a succession of pocket PCs since the ipaq 5450 right through to the Vario II and today I took delivery of the Vario III.
I installed Tomtom, google maps, live search and memory map. They all work perfectly.
Am I doing something wrong ?
mine came too - am farting about with it now!
Got mine at 2pm this afternoon - this is how it looks now:
hi patcooke,
how did you get the screen to look like that !!
Ofiaich ...
same as little_rock - farting about! - and I see that, like me, you also live in the people's republic of yorkshire
Hi patcooke!
OK, I kept the big clock, so better try to learn to fart around a bit more..
Yes, I live in the Republic of Yorkshire too, East side, but of Emerald Isle descent.

What carrier did your Vario II come by? Mine should have came yesterday :-(
hmmm I think it was mercury or jaguar or some sh!t... it wasnt dhl i know that much... I'll look later when i get hom - i till got the bag.. did you check with your neighbours to see if it is therE?
I had them send it to my works so I wouldn't miss it. The T-mobile sales guy mentioned UPS but when I pounced on him yesterday he said they don't usually do phones.

Mine (T-mobile) came by Lynx parcel delivery due to the Royal Mail Strike - I ordered the phone last Friday at about 6pm and the phone arrived Monday. So they are still trying to do next day delivery..
I ordered mine on Monday, no joy yet. Supposed to arrive by Lynx yesterday. Phone T-Mobile, they basically said sorry, tough luck it'll turn up eventually.

I ordered mine Tuesday & was promised next-day delivery, but it was late, arriving at 10:30am this morning Worth the wait though
T-Mobile store
I went into the T-Mobile store last night to get one, after speaking with a rep on Sunday and being told it would be £80 on an 18 month tariff at £32.50p/m (with the £5 p/m discount they're currently running). The checked the price again when I got there, and they said on that tariff it should be £139.99, but since the other guy had told me £80 they'd do it for that. Then when they got to the checkout and it asked for payment, it was only £49.99!
Very happy indeed!!! There's a few things I'm not sure about tho, like I can't find any settings for HSDPA, no network wizard thing included, and strangely no satnav software (even tho T-Mobile point out it has built-in GPS) and they didn't even offer me any!

Anyone having issues finding the HD7? (London)

Anyone having issues finding an HD7? I went downtown today (maybe a bit late on the shipment i guess) and they were all sold out.
I asked the guy to check the other stores and nothing came up.
He said the next shipment should come in on thursday, so heads up to anyone.
Could you not order online direct from o2?

Same with me, called the local store on launch day and they didn't have it, ordered online and it arrived the next.
Picked mine up at my local o2 store where they had a few in stock. I don't believe many people have actually noticed the price o2 have these on pay-as-you-go. Either that or they're just not bothered about WP7!
Fantastic device btw, although I did get mine exchanged the next day as the volume up button wouldn't "click" as much as the volume down would.
Try O2 in Angel, that's where I got mine on launch day. I'm not suprised they are in short supply, I turned up at 11:30am on launch day and there was already someone waiting for them to finish logging the delivery into the system
On launch day I visited two O2 stores, one on Oxford Street. They had none on display, none in stock and no POS shouting about them. I crossed the road to the Orange store at 7pm and even at that time they had promo people outside the store encouraging demo's of the Mozart. Inside they had at least 3 demo units, a demo guy and a security guard.
I also called O2 that day and they said the HD7 was not available on PAYG until the next day.
It was clear to me who is putting effort into the WP launch. It's a shame that O2 have exclusivity, because in the end I ordered the HD7 on the O2 website on PAYG on launch day.
I cannot stand O2, but that's the way it works when you value the phone more than the annoyances of the distributor. At least I'm not in any kind of contract with them.
I went to pick mine up yesterday, expecting them to have none. I had been in the day before and asked if they were going to set-up a display (Like the have for the iPhone 4) so I could test out the handset and OS. They assured me it would be up on the Saturday. I thanked them, went on my way...anyway, I went in yesterday (Sunday) and there still was no phones on display, but there was at least some WP7 posters now....I was chatting to a new guy there and he said they simply didn't seem to care about it, because they're so focused on iPhone 4 contracts and the money it brings them.......
As the post above said, O2 don't give a damn. They still have the IP4 marketshare from the 3G/3GS exclusivity deal and that is all they seem to focus on. Orange on the other hand, although having the iP4 now don't have the fortune of that headstart so they seem to make an effort with other handsets.
Had Orange of sold the Omnia 7 on PAYG, I'd of brought that. But as the HD7 is such good value, I went down that route. Within 2 minutes of having it, I was unlocked and chucked in another SIM
I went to 2 O2 stores on the release day, none had a clue when they were getting them in. I ended up ordering the phone off the O2 website and got it next day.
I thought about going to buy one in the O2 store in Westfield, but had a contact in O2 who said that the website was being updated at 07:30 on Thursday morning, so I ordered online before I went to work.
I've not been into Westfield since, so couldn't say if they even had any -- think I walked past last Tuesday, and there was no sign. Got sort of chased out as I attempted to find out if the display HD2 would fit in my jeans pocket.
just got mine tonight on Oxford street.
So giddy
I posted earlier that they had them in O2 Angel and that they had point of sales plastered all over their windows. Suprised no one has tried there rather than whining about O2 not having it in thier local stores. If people still have problems, when posting state which stores are empty.
