Er, help? Do I have G3 or G4? No IPL/SPL versions shown! - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Hello,
I've been reading around the entire forum, but I am having trouble determining which version of the HTC Wizard I have.
In my case, I have a Qtek 9100 by Vodafone. When I boot the phone, I get an HTC screen and then a Vodafone welcome screen. The forum tells me it should show me some IPL/SPL version numbers, but none are displayed anywhere.
I've tried running Hard SPL G4 (since it had a G3/G4 detection and wouldn't destroy my Wizard on sight if it weren't the right one), but even this neat program comes with the error: "SPL version has no value".
So er, right... now I'm really clueless on what to do!
When I go into the configuration screen -> System and then to Device Info, all I can make out are these values:
ROM version: 2.18.7.6 NLD
Radio version: 02.07.10
Protocol version: 413.1.03
ExtROM version: 2.18.7.113
CPU: OMAP850
Flash chip type: M-Systems
Model number: WIZA200
Not much to work with, I reckon, but perhaps anybody could help me out here?

there is another program you can use to check if it's a G3 or G4, but it only works with xp, NOT vista. Im not sure about windows 98, or 2000, never tried. The program is called WST tool which stands wizard service tool. If you can't find it anywhere, let me know, and ill send it to you.

Wizard Service Tool, just a few posts away:

"When I boot the phone, I get an HTC screen and then a Vodafone welcome screen",
You'll find IPL/SPL figures appear in 'RED' colour at the first (initial) screen,as per your posting, you shud be able to see them in the first splash screen "HTC" screen, or download WST Tool and run.it'll give all the statistics of your phone.
Cheers

With your phone off, press and hold the camera key and then press the power button. The phone will boot in to a 3 colored screen called the bootloader and it will tell you both your IPL and your SPL version.

Yes! This trick did the job!
Booting the phone normally just showed me nice HTC and Vodafone screens, but the camera-button trick worked perfectly: 2.18.0001, which would make my model a G4.
Now to see if I can find the right WM6 edition for my Wizard. I read that you need to be careful which release to install, because some have been built for G3 and would mess up my G4?
Anyway, first things first; unlocking the bastard! Thanks!

just one question. I know you can't use G3 Roms on a g4, but can you use a g4 rom on a g3 device?

There's not really a such thing as aG3 or G4 ROM. You just need to read the thread and see if it includes a IPL/SPL update or an extended ROM (I'm not positive on this one though) and if they do you either shouldn't use them or if your a little more advanced, break them down and remove the IPL/SPL and ext ROM and then flash them. Like I said though, I'm not positive on whether it's safe or not to flash an extended ROM to a G4 so you may try going through the G4 section and see if anyone has that info.

How do you upgrade ROM?

hi,
i looked around for instructions on how to upgrade the ROM but i couldn't find any.
i have a very old ROM and i want to upgrade it to the latest ROM that includes the A2DP, etc.
how do i go about installing it? is it like installing a regular application? i have a Qtek 9100.
thanks,
Re: Simple guide - Unlock Vario and update to other ROMs
For anyone else who has had the same problem as we did, follow these simple instructions:
First download lokiwiz v2b. Don't use previous versions or you'll not get through this!!
Hard reset your device (not necessary, but it ensures you'll have no hassle with Activesync).
Done that? Good. Extract the lokiwiz v2b .zip folder and copy enablerapi.cab to your memory card or to 'My Documents' folder on your device. Then execute the 'enablerapi.cab'.
Done? Just switch off the device (power button; put it in standby mode).
If you have Activesync already installed, un-install it and re-install directly afterwards (ensure a brand new partnership).
Then when prompted by Activesync, plug in your USB cable PC-PPC and it should recognise as usual.
Then execute the lokiwiz.bat file (in the folder that was generated earlier when you extracted the lokiwiz02b.zip file) and when you see the MS Dos (black screen) choose the option CID Unlock (SuperCID) and wait for it to COMPLETELY finish. You'll know it's finished when your Wizard is re-booting. Plug out your USB cable at this stage.
Once re-booted and back into WM5, re-connect your cable and if all goes well it should re-connect to Active Sync (wait till it has finished syncing or says connected!).
Finally......double click the executable file, which should be:
RUU_Prodigy_1060701_101_11310_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe
Hopefully it will now install the ROM without hiccups (about 10 minutes).
Sorry to you gurus for the lengthy explanation, but some of us are still relatively inexperienced to this and a thorough (if you can call it that) explanation of the processes will really be appreciated. I certainly have done when some of guys broke it down to me in the past.
I'm hoping this ROM will not dissapoint me as the others have done, as I've been getting quite frustrated and angry about the whole WM5 & HTC thing.
Good luck.

thanks for finding the informaiton for me!
Thanks for the breakdown. I am new to all this, and not too au fait with all the developer terms, and it can be quite intimidating!
I have an O2 branded XDA Mini S and want to use it with Vodafone SIM card. The device is unlocked, so I can make and receive calls - good start!
However, I want to get rid of all the O2 branding and install the vodafone GPRS/SMS/MMS etc. settings. From what I've read on the forums, the O2 stuff slows the unit down, and it will all be irrelevant anyway. Does the extended ROM you refer to above then get the unit into an "unbranded" state?
Basically, I just want the unit without any trace of O2 (boot splach screen, O2 active etc.) and to be able to put the Vodafone settings in manually...
Thanks
Thanks mackaby007 - managed to update rom using your instructions, and got rid of O2 screen using aWizard!
Unlock to Lock
Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to lock the phone back so for example if I had to send it to T-Mobile.
Thanks

I have the exact same problem. Both Loki and aWizard don't work.
Typically when you want to downgrade your phone to an earlier (or shipped version) you need to first downgrade it to Button's 1.05, then you can "upgrade" to back to the desired 1.x or 2.x ROM.
Is that what you're asking?

how is possible to downgrade the wizard phone to 1.05?
I have a T-mob wizard phone with inside IPL 2.21.0001,GSM 2.19.11, OS 2.21.2.6.
Have I to follow the below step?
1)dovngrade to 1.05 . Is necessary only OS or boot loader and ratio too?
2)perform again the flashing procedure.

looks to me that you have a "G4" chipset, I can tell because you are reporting the IPL 2.21.0001 and not just IPL 2.21 Maybe someone else can verify this???? If so please please DONT try to flash before you have researched "G4" chipset flashing first
Dear sir,
you true!!
I have just read a post were is explained that if you have G4 chip is not possible to downgrade or upgrade the ROM.
Bootloaders (IPL/SPL) with .0001 at the end of the version are G4 flash chips.
This info will be very halpefully for everybody need to perform any flashing action on wizard phone.
Do you confirm that is actually not possible to solve this issue?

Alex

I am very confused...
OK.
My wizard have G4 chip inside.
I was been able to remove the SIM lock.
If I try to CID unlock the device I receive CID unlocked successfull but after a ROM update the device stuck at startup.
Now...if I pay on http://www.imei-check.co.uk/ 20£ will be possible to change the ROM?
JAFWM
Hi,
I discovered a SW named JAFWM that is able to flsh evry ROM.
Is this true?
@squarna - Sorry mate but TBH with myself not having a G4 chipset Ive not taken much notice of any post relating to them, if no one else jumps in soon try starting a new thread with the title like "G4 chipset What roms work?" or something and good luck!

[Question] - N00b's questions about ROM upgrading

Hello, I have just got a T-Mobile MDA from a friend, and I'm eager to hack it up
Btw, I'm pretty new about this so I have some questions, if you have time plz share some information or point me to the suitable links
Here is my MDA's information:
My MDA boot up screen reports:
Code:
IPL 1.01
SPL 1.01
GSM 1.12.10.0
OS 1.5.4.2
Device Information reports:
Code:
ROM version 1.5.4.2 WWE
ROM date 11/8/05
Radio version 01.12.10
Protocol version 4.3.13.23
So, erm, I guess it uses pretty old ROM, eh?
I'm using it with my local service provider, I think it has been SIM unlocked.
Now, onto the questions:
1. I want to upgrade it to the newest possible ROM, but I don't know if its CID has been unlocked or not, is there any way to check this?
2. What is the newest ROM that usable by this baby? I read somewhere on this forums that the 2.24 ROM is the newest avaiable, is that right?
3. What is AKU? What's the benefit of AKU 2.3?
4. How to backup the old ROM in order to restore it in case something awful happen?
PS: The MDA boot screen has been modded, because the splash screen displays my friend name with some babe pics lol, I wanna get rid of that.
Seriously, the best advice anyone can give you is:
Read the fourms for a week before you download anything or attempt to flash your Rom.
In 1 week if you have not found or (more importantly) don't completely understand the answers to these questions then don't do it with software from here.
Instead use only official issued Rom updates from your carrier as they will not void the warranty on your device (although technically your friend has already done this by replacing the splash screens).
The information is here but you can seriously F-up your phone (just search for posts referring to "Brick") if you don't understand what you are doing.
If you are concerned about keeping warranty in place then get the latest avaliable Rom from your carrier and flash your phone with it. Just call customer support and give them the info you posted here (leaving out the detail about the splash screens). They will direct you to the website where you can download their files and even walk you through the process. Also they won't help you CID Unlock the device but many carriers will provide SIM unlock codes upon request.
Thanks for your advice, I decided to read around and managed to backup my ROM and flash another one on it.
Now the bootup screen reads:
Code:
IPL 2.24
SPL 2.24
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.24.10.1
And Device Information reads:
Code:
ROM version 2.24.10.1 WWE
ROM date 4/27/06
Radio version 02.25.11
Protocol version 4.1.13.12
[b]ExtROM version 2.24.10.101[/b]
There's another new line "ExtROM"
So, I have known how to backup/restore ROM, verify the CID/SIM (un)lock status, and I have flashed the 2.24 TEST ROM for TMo (it shows TEST VERSION NOT FOR RESALE on splash screen)
It boots up faster, with new stuff from original TMo ROM I guess, gotta try it out...

as you say that your device is SIM/CID unlocked and already using wm6 Faria rom, then I don't think there shud be any problem upgrading to any other new rom,as to the error 208,wud you plz post the exact error what it says,if it say it's a file error...can be related to a missing file called enterbootloader.exe. ,then most probably the file you downloaded is corrupt.which NBD rom you have downloaded.download latest NBD Rom from here and try to flash.

But I'll also advice you to flash back again T-mobile 2.26 to have a clear solid base again to start off for upgrading to new rom,it wud give you the advantage of clearing any misappropriations happened during your first install of Faria Rom as it is quite old build.flashing t-mobile 2.26 will give you a new clean base to upgrade make's sure your extended_rom is clean and uncorrupted, it causes all kinds of problems .sure you'll be fine good luck

ERROR [208] : FILE OPEN
These error messages indicate that RUU lacks certain important files and cannot continue with the update. Please get the complete RUU package again.
as t-mobile 2.26 flashed and loaded good, than there's no problem with your bootloader,Ok,Now do this, remove your phone from the usb cable(disconnect it) and do a Hard reset of your phone by doing this :-
1. Press and hold the comm manager button and voice command button on the device together with one hand
2.Keep the two buttons pressed, and at the same time, with other hand, use the stylus to lightly press and hold the RESET button
the device will reboot and switch back on.
then delete active sync, reboot your PC,Run disk Clean wizard on Drive C:\ ,check all options in Disk Clean options, specially Temporary internet files and perform disk cleanup, after that delete all cookies in Internet options.
than download the latest version of Active sync ver 4.5 and install.
after this go into bootloader mode in your phone and connect to PC,but don't establish connection with Active sync, cancell the connection when it asks
when you connect witusb you'll see small usb showing at the bottom of bootloader screen (tri color screen) if it's there then open the rom file and try to flash, hope it'll be ok.
just post your present IPL/SPL...? it appears in red color when you switch on the phone and on the boot screen at the top.whatever the ipl/spl..? is there at the moment just post it,ok
I still believe the error 208 is due to some missing files, may be the NBD rom is getting some corruption
anyway you can also download official rom from the official site of your carrier ( the rom which came prinstalled when you bought the phone)
or download this rom and see if it flashes:-

IPL/SPL 2.25 G3 AKU2 version,
ok,now tell me,when you flashed the original rom,was it successful, did it load up ? is your phone working normal with the original rom ?
I just feel as your phone is still not CID unlock,do one more thing, download this WST tool from the link below, install and run it,then post whatever report it generates,ok
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329170
Ah 1
so,when you flashed with T-mobile 2.26 you had ipl/spl 2.26,afterwards you flashed back with your original rom,is it cingular rom ? so ipl/spl 2.25 is registered. Both of these Roms T-mobile and original(cingular or ?) which you flashed are official roms.so only official roms are flashing and not the custom builds, hmm, so custom build rom can only be flashed if device is CID unlocked.
It means may be your device is still not CID unlocked ?
But i did CID unlock, because thats how i got Faria v5.0 on my phone. Do I have to CID unlock everytime i flash?... Ok so i ran that program you told me to and heres what i got.

replace the files from MUNN with the one in NBD,
just a hunch may be bootloader of your phone not accepting romupdateutility of NBD,lets replace and see,it might do the trick.
you are awesome.... its loaded NBD... I guess it was a corrupted file. Now does this mean i can put TNT on my phone? If so will i have to replace those files?

Help on Cingular 8125

I have bought this old phone coz it costs less than other cellphones with Wi-fi. What I really need is to install or have Voip/sip in it. But browsing and searching for answers on how to put voip in it made me stumble on this forum
i've been reading these past few days and as I read on, I am learning something and also being more confused for all the terms and other stuffs.
I would appreciate if somebody could help me.
What I have is unlocked Cingular 8125 (using my own sim via a local network here in Saipan, USA) with the following:
WM5.0 OS 5.1.195 (Build 14928.2.2.0)
IPL 2.25
SPL 2.25
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.25.11.1
I checked other posts and this page and found below which are not compatible with my device:
If your IPL/SPL numbers are in the form X.xx (i.e 2.26, 1.08, etc.) you have a G3
If your IPL/SPL numbers are in the form X.xx.xxx1 (i.e. 2.26.0001), you have a G4
Click to collapse
and also below:
Download the appropriate IPL/SPL based on your device and carrier.
T-Mobile MDA G4 IPL&SPL.zip
AT&T 8125 G4 IPL&SPL.zip
Vodafone Qtek 9100 G4 IPl&SPL.zip
Orange SPV M3000 G4 IPL&SPL.zip
O2 XDA Mini S G4 IPL&SPL.zip
Depending on your device and Carrier, download the appropriate Rom for your device:
T-Mobile MDA Official WM5 Rom
AT&T 8125 Official WM5 Rom
Vodafone Qtek 9100 Official WM5 Rom
Orange SPV M3000 Official WM5 Rom
O2 XDA Mini S Official WM5 Rom

Again, I only need to have voip/sip working so I can call my family in the PHilippines and Canada for free. But I think the ways to have it are so far from now so I would appreciate a lot of help you can give me.
By the way, I am a contract worker and dont have much money so I need to make this thing work and can't afford to pay for somebody who could do this for me.
Thank you so much.
ok,
IPL 2.25
SPL 2.25
"If your IPL/SPL numbers are in the form X.xx (i.e 2.26, 1.08, etc.) you have a G3",as your's is 2.25 it means X.xx,its a G3 device,so don't bother to read or be concerned about G4 devices, only read and follow the threads and procedures concerning G3 devices,it'll lessen the burden on your mind and make things more clear.
T-Mobile MDA G4 IPL&SPL.zip
AT&T 8125 G4 IPL&SPL.zip
Vodafone Qtek 9100 G4 IPl&SPL.zip
Orange SPV M3000 G4 IPL&SPL.zip
O2 XDA Mini S G4 IPL&SPL.zip
These are IPL/SPL (Bootloaders) for G4 phones, none of your concern.
Depending on your device and Carrier, download the appropriate Rom for your device:
T-Mobile MDA Official WM5 Rom
AT&T 8125 Official WM5 Rom
Vodafone Qtek 9100 Official WM5 Rom
Orange SPV M3000 Official WM5 Rom
O2 XDA Mini S Official WM5 Rom
All these are Official stock carrier Roms of different networks, they are all good for both G3 And G4 phones.they include IPL/SPL for both the devices.when flashed, will only flash those IPL/SPL (Bootloaders) concerning the specific device. These roms can safely be flashed equally both to G3 & G4 devices.
Ok,for setting up 'VOIP/SIP' check out this link below for instructions and appropriate setting :-

Cheers!
Thanks for your reply zabardast_1.
Noted and I will follow you in concentrating only G3 threads and procedures.
For now, my follow up question would be:
T-Mobile MDA Official WM5 Rom
AT&T 8125 Official WM5 Rom
Vodafone Qtek 9100 Official WM5 Rom
Orange SPV M3000 Official WM5 Rom
O2 XDA Mini S Official WM5 Rom

- if these are the official Roms, and I am using my 8125 thru a local carrier here (which is not included in the above list, although the phone is Cingular branded but unlocked), then which one should I use? The AT&T?
and....
what are the chances that my phone will be bricked if I wont be successful on doing this myself?

G3's are not that easy to get 'Bricked',its only if you flash G4 ipl/spl to a G3 phone, then there are bright chances of getting it bricked.
Secondly, all wizard phones are build by HTC with same hareware and features, regardless of vendors and cellular networks,it maybe cingular 8125,T-mobile MDA,Qtek 9100 or O2 Mini S,they all are of same build, hardware and features manufactured by HTC.You can flash any of the Roms mentioned but I wud prefer the AT&T 8125 Official WM5 Rom.The rom is the OS of the phone,it doesn't matter which local carrier you are using, its the sim of the carrier which is in use.You can easily flash a T-mobile rom on a At&TT phone or vice versa.Only the GPRS and other network settings differ from carrier to carrier.

I have a few more questions pls see ****
Wizard Windows Mobile 6 for newbies (I've found this here at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wizard Windows Mobile 6 for newbies)
Intro
....
Audience
.....
Requirements
Computer with Windows XP ***Im running in Windows Vista so I will take a look at the other post. But Iknow that basically this procedure is almost the same, right?
...
Definitions
....
Procedure
....
However, before you start flashing, consider the following:
1. Is your device a G3 or G4 Wizard? If it's G4, Follow the G4 portion of the tutorial. If you follow the G3 tutorial you will effectively BRICK your phone. I'll tell you how to tell the difference between G3 and G4 below. ****my phone is G3 (as per your previous message)
2. Did you get your phone through a carrier (or is it carrier branded)? i.e. does your phone say T-Mobile or Cingular, or O2, or anything that identifies it as having come from a cell phone company? If yes, it's probably locked. As you now know, a SIM lock is different from a CID lock. We'll need to CID unlock your phone in order to flash WM6. ***** i bought it from ebay and right now, I am using SIM from a local network here so I guess it is SIM unlocked. So that means I only need to CID unlock?
3. Get the right IPL/SPL version. Most ROMs require BOTH IPL and SPL to be 2.xx. If you're at 1.xx, you need to take an additional step of flashing an official ROM. v(G3 Only step) ****my IPL/SPL is 2.25 and I need to use AT&T G3...zip, right?
4. Pick a ROM and flash it! **** AT&T or is this the WM6?
5. Enjoy your new functionality! **** I hope so.
6. Do additional stuff (install applications, change splash screens, and anything else you ask me to write about) *** I need the SIP/VOIP so my VOipcheap would work
1. Phone version (aka "Which guide do I follow if I don't want to have a brick?").....
If your IPL/SPL numbers are in the form X.xx (i.e 2.26, 1.08, etc.) you have a G3
........
2. Unlocking (CID and SIM) G3 and G4 Tutorials.
G3 ONLY!
(Credit to Dr. Puttingham for the walkthough which I used as a basis for this portion of the tutorial.)
..... Also, make sure that your phone is nearly fully charged(at least 75%), otherwise things may go loopy.***I will.
1. Download the Button ROM to your computer **** ok
2. Attach your Wizard to your computer using the USB cable. For the love of G-d, do NOT do this over bluetooth or IR. It will most likely not work, but if it does, all hell will break loose.
3. If you have ActiveSync, (****I dont. So if I download this ActiceSync, by default, there is no parnertship, right?) make sure there are no active partnerships with your device. With your device NOT plugged in, go into ActiveSync file->delete mobile device. Once you plug the device back in, cancel synchronization. Your wizard should be showing up in ActiveSync as Guest.
4. With your device connected to your computer as Guest, run the file that your downloaded. (****The Button ROM???) It's pretty much self-explanatory. Agree to everything, and let it do it's thing. It is downgrading your IPL to 1.05. You can only unlock your phone if the IPL is 1.xx, you can't do it if your IPL is 2.xx. (<- ****what do you mean by this? coz i have 2.25) Always have lots of patience. The 10 minutes to complete statement is a guide, if your computer is running at a 90% CPU load with 99% of your RAM full (which it shouldn't), expect this to take a lot longer. If it so happens that you get an error at 99%, try The Xda_MiniS_LaunchROM_v154102.exe.
5. Once the flash is done and your Wizard is rebooted, it will display an IPL of 1.xx and an SPL of 2.xx.
6. Download Lokiwiz 0.2b.
7. Use Winzip or Winrar to extract the files to any folder on your computer(it is recommended you create a folder specifically for lokiwiz), DO NOT JUST COPY THEM! There is a directory structure inside the zip file, and this will not work if that directory structure is not maintained. This had driven me nuts the first time I did it, it was giving me all kinds of "file not found" errors. ***ok?
8. Copy enablerapi.cab from your PC to anywhere on your Wizard using ActiveSync. Remember not to create a partnership (make sure you're still connected as a Guest).
9. Go to your Wizard (***while it is connected to my computer???) and use the File Explorer to find the file you just copied. Click on it and install it to the main memory ("Device", not extended memory).
10. Back on your PC, open the folder you just created when you extracted Lokiwiz and click lokiwiz.bat. Another option if you feel comfortable is to extract lokiwiz 0.2b to your C Drive and then open up command prompt type in "cd C:" without the quotes. This should take you to your C:\ drive. Type lokiwiz.bat.
11. You will see the following:
U. Unlock
L. Lock
C. CID Unlock (SuperCID)
Q. Quit
Unlock refers to SIM Unlock and CID unlock refers to...well. If you still don't know the difference, go back and read from the beginning.
1. Press U on your computer keyboard. lokiwiz will SIM unlock your phone and REBOOT. If it doesn't reboot, you did something wrong. Try again. The procedure may take a few minutes to complete, so if your Wizard doesn't reboot right away, don't freak out. ***do i have to do this?
2. Rerun the lokiwiz.bat file, this time pressing C. Wait for the Wizard to reboot.
3. While rebooting, keep an eye on the IPL/SPL numbers. If the IPL is 1.05, good. If they are both still 2.xx, rerun the button ROM (or the other ROM that worked for you). You won't need to re-unlock the device. It is recommended that you make sure you sucessfully flashed the button rom(or whatever rom worked for you) and your IPL is 1.05 before you SIM and CID unlock your device.
4. You have 2 options now. Once you have successfully CID unlocked your phone, you can either re-flash the Button ROM or whichever ROM you used to obtain matching 1.05 IPL/SPL(NOT REQUIRED) or continue to the next step which is to continue with the upgrade and upgrade back to IPL/SPL version 2.xx (yes, you need to downgrade then upgrade back...it's just what you have to do however time-wasteful it may seem). Everyone seems to like the T-mobile Official WM5 ROM (****I need to use the AT&T Official, right?) , so what the heck, I think you'll like it too. Flash it the same way you flashed the Button ROM (double click and go through the installation). Remember to have patience! Also, You should save the T-Mobile .exe file since you will need to flash back to that first every time you want to switch ROMs (again, no matter how time wasteful it seems, trust me, do it).
5. OPTIONAL STEP:: Once you have successfully CID unlocked your G3 device and have the T-Mobile Official WM5 ROM back on your device, you now have the option to upgrade to IPL/SPL 3.08. Upgrading to IPL/SPL 3.08 is just like flashing a tiny little ROM It will not change the functionality of the device whatsoever but will speed up the boot sequence a little. Any little bit helps right? You can Find the download link for IPL/SPL 3.08 HERE Just download the .rar file EXTRACT it to its own folder. <!-- DO NOT COPY AND PASTE THESE FILES TO ANOTHER FOLDER. There is a definite file structure that will be ruined if you copy and paste and it will not work. --> Run the Rom Update Utility (****how?) and again, follow the simple self explanatory steps to complete the upgrade and then your device will reboot itself. Keep an eye on the IPL/SPL when the device is rebooting. It should now be 3.08 for both and your device should now boot more quickly.
WM6 ROMs
Pick a WM6 ROM and flash it. Now that you have a good T-Mobile WM5 ROM with IPL/SPL at 2.26 (if one of them is not at 2.26, RE-FLASH IT!) or IPL/SPL 3.08, you're ready to install a WM6 ROM. This is where I have to step back. Due to forum politics, I cannot go ahead and suggest a ROM (neither can anyone else, and if you ask this on the forums, you will get flamed and your topic will be locked). Besides, the minute I suggest a ROM on this page, a better one will come out. All I can tell you is if you're after all the nice touch stuff (of course you are!), look at the ROMs that boast TouchFlo (TNT and ?BlackDiamond are just two examples). Go to the forum, under Wizard Mobile 6 (***I have to make sure that its AT&T, right?) and take your pick. It is like being a little kid in a candy store, the variety is so immense. The only advice I could give you from personal experience, is that ROMs with newer builds(higher build numbers) tend to have more bugs than the older builds(obviously, the builds that have lower numbers) tend to be more stable with less bugs. THIS IS NOT TRUE FOR ALL ROMS!! Some ROMs with newer builds are VERY stable with only minor bugs if any but I am not going to get into that. I would also suggest reading some of the discussion regarding the author's ROM to see what bugs there are (hint: all ROMs have bugs, the question is how many and what can you live with. A relatively minor bug for me may be a show-stopper for you). You flash this ROM the exact same way you flashed the button ROM and the T-Mobile ROM. Configure it to your liking and enjoy!
**** If this is successful, then I would go on and install voip/sip, right?
HOWA !!!
Long questionair,
Anyway ! just to a cut short,
1. WinXP is highly recommended for flashing and upgrading, with winvista, there are many problems.so I advise you to consider winXP.
2. ActiveSync 4.5 will not work on winVista,it only works on winXP,for Vista you'll have to download Windows Mobile Device (WMD).
3. YES ! its a G3 device(IPL/SPL 2.25),If its SIM unlocked,it might be CID unlocked too,its not essential, but maybe,as you bought a used phone from ebay.To verify if its CID unlocked, download the WST tool and run the "CID Action' button,it'll verify the CID locked/unlocked status of the phone.
4.If its CID unlocked, there's no need to downgrade by flashing 'Button's Rom 1.05 to 1.xx to unlock with lokiwiz02b,but if isn't cid unlocked, you'll have to downgrade it to ipl/spl 1.xx.
5. YES ! if its cid unlocked, you need ipl/spl 2.xx to upgrade to any wm6 rom, yes, you can use the official stock rom of at&tt,but T-mobile 2.26 has proved to be the most stable 2.xx rom and is highly recommended to upgrade to 2.xx for upgrade to wm6 as a good base.
6. NO ! there's no wm6 upgrade available for official stock AT&TT,you'll have to depend on latest custom build wm6 roms, which are avaiable in this forum.
Well,if you have to downgrade and CID unlock through lokiwiz02b,read and follow the guide by Dr.Putts.
Cheers!
follow-up questions ****
1. i will look for winxp
2. if i didnt find winxp pc here, i would have to do it thru vista
3. WST Tool? download it to my PC (with winxp) and connect my wizard?
4. ok. then i will follow the steps.
5. YES ! if its cid unlocked, you need ipl/spl 2.xx to upgrade to any wm6 rom, yes, you can use the official stock rom of at&tt,but T-mobile 2.26 has proved to be the most stable 2.xx rom and is highly recommended to upgrade to 2.xx for upgrade to wm6 as a good base.
(****so i dont need to upgrade coz i have 2.25??? or i still need a new official ROM like T-mobilie 2.26 so I can upgrade to wm6???)
6. NO ! there's no wm6 upgrade available for official stock AT&TT,you'll have to depend on latest custom build wm6 roms, which are avaiable in this forum.
***any wm6 will do, right?
thanks so much.

by the way, what is that latest RUU.zip?

Ipl 1.04 spl 1.04 ?

Hi everybody,
I hope somebody can help me. I have a Charmer (T-mobile MDA compact II german) in front of me. A friend of mine tried to flash the original TMO (german) AKU3.3 and it failed with the "know" 95% bug.
Whatever was before and whatever he tried afterwards, I do not know that. He asked me for help to get it now back to live.
When turning it on the red/green/blue screen appears and on the screen I can only see:
IPL 1.04 RUU
SPL 1.04
I tried almost everything found in this forum but nothing really helped. The best result I archived was after flashing radio rom (Prophet_G3_G4_RadioRom_v2.69.21). Then I got a boot logo from HTC / QTek. While booting it shows again again IPL / SPL 1.04 and a OS Version. No GSM ver (!). But the screen does not go away an after about 45 sec. the device soft resets itself an it again goes into this QTEK screen.
Has anybody an idea what to do now? I'm a bit confused because the IPL/SPL version of this charmer is totally different to the ones here in the forum. I have 1.04 on both version.
Any help is much appreciated

Have you flashed any Bootloader from Wizard or Prophet? The only way out that is JTAG. But I don't know about it. I'll search and tell you this evening.
