Problem with application start menu links

On mmy 8925 Tilt, I did just what I did on my old 8525, but I am having error messages.
I went into Windows > Start Menu > Programs, and made some new folders to organize my shortcuts.
I now. randomly, get two specific program error messages that the .lnk file cannot be found, BUT, when I go to the Start Menu, click on the link, the two applications open and operate.
Any suggestion, other than move the link. Thanks
Are you using the Menu tool in the Settings-Home tab? For some reason when you assign a program to the Start menu, it moves the shortcut from the Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder to the Windows/Start Menu folder. This then screws up any shortcuts you have setup (like in the appplication tab of the HTC home plugin).
I wonder if there is a registry setting to change this behavior? This did not happen on my 8525 w/ WM6.
No, that is not an issue. These are links that were listed under Programs, in the Start Menu, that I moved into subfolders that I created; like the folder "Utilities" has within it MemMaid, and SK Tools, etc.
I would create a new link for the two entries that 'short circuit' and replace the old (original) links, but I do not know how to do this!
Can anyone help me create new links??
Thanks
I am not quite sure exactly what you are trying to do, but here is what I do to create folders and shortcuts in my Start Menu\Programs folder.
With a File Explorer Navigate to Windows\Start Menu\Programs (or the directory you want to put the links in)
Click Menu, select New Folder, and type the desired name for the folder.
Next Navigate to the .EXE file for the program you want to make a shortcut to. (If it is a program you have added, it may be in either the \\Program Files, \\Windows, or \\Storage Card\Program Files folder)
Highlight the .EXE file and select Menu->Edit->Copy
Next Navigate back to the Folder you created in the Start Menu\Programs
Select Menu->Edit->Paste Shortcut (This will create a .lnk file that links back to the .EXE) You can rename the .lnk file whatever you like, and that is what will show up in the Programs Folder.

How can I get htc.home.xml ?

I need the above file in order to make some changes, with the CBReminder plugin.
But I can't seem to find the file. I can't see it in the "Application Data\Home" folder when I browse the folders even if I've set the Windows folders to show hidden files...
Can someone tell me how to get it on my computer or upload the file ?

shortcuts to programs

How do I make a shortcut to a program so that it appears in the programs folder?
last night my java app disappeared from my applications folder - but the program still exists and runs from 'my device/windows' if i click on it in file explorer.
Any ideas?
From within File Explorer, copy the .exe file, then navigate to the "Windows\Start Menu\Programs" folder.
From here, just use the Paste as Shortcut option from the menu.
DT
Thanks...
I managed to make a shortcut, but couldnt figure out where to put it so that it appeared in the Programs folder.

Organise programs

Hi i want to organise my programs in the start menu\programs into folders so they arent scattered all over the place can anyone help??????
open your file explorer, navigate to \windows\startmenu create the folders and move the links into them. suggest you use totalcommander or similar.
Thanks for your reply. But half of my programs are not located in that folder so i can not even move them to the folder.
Please help, as they are totally unorganised and it is doing my head in.
I think that mahsidi should make difference between the programs and a link to it.
In Windows\Start Menu\Programs, you'll find only links. If a program that you install don't automaticly create a shortcut in this place, you'll have to create yourself : with Resco, go to the install folder of your prog, tap and hold on the .exe file and then, use the "Send to" fonction (the "Start Menu as Shortcut" item).

how to create shortcut to tomtom?

Hi guys,
I have tomtom navigator installed to storage card but cannot create a shortcut on the today screen either through easytodaylauncher or spb ms3.5.
I got through the usual steps to create a shortcut but tomtom is not there.
to open tomtom I have to go to storagecard/navigator and select the .exe file for it to run.
I have tried copying the .exe file onto the device in to programfiles with no joy.
Please could someone with better intellegence than me tell me how to do it?
Thank you for reading.
Use total commander to create a shortcut to \windows\Start menu\Programs
I also got it at Storage card. Dunno if it will show up at easytodaylauncher and spb ms3.5 but i think so.
Tap and hold .exe file, select Edit > Copy, then navigate to windows/start menu/programs and tap menu and then select Edit > Paste Shortcut. Come out of the folder, go back in and there should be "Shortcut to TomTom..", rename.
Please elaborate on your problem. Does the shortcut appear in the file explorer?
