Bluetooth Stack problem on Kaiser - automatically re-establishing pair - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi all,
I have posted this question also over a 4winmobile as I cant access xda-dev from work. Hopefully someone here can help.
I've been having difficulty with my Kaiser and a Parrot MK6000 car kit. I have tested the carkit with a Nokia as well, and have some results to report to aid in troubleshooting.
The Nokia was paired with the Parrot MK6000 kit, answers and makes calls and streams audio no problem. When the car is turned off, the pairing ends, when the car is started again the pairing starts back up ... auto, no probs. In addition, if you make a call with the phone, at the end of the call the pairing is ended, but within a few seconds is re-established.
On my Kaiser, I can pair the phone and car kit, but if the connection is lost (ie the car is turned off or bluetooth is stopped on the phone) and then I turn the car back on, it will not automatically pair. It attempts to, the car kit mutes the car radio and plays a tone, but the pairing is not established by the phone. It continues to do this every 30 seconds or so, but does not establish a connection.
Also, if I make a call with the phone when it has been sucessfully paired, on ending the call, the phone will not re-establish the pairing.
My conclusion is that all of my troubles relate to the fact that the pairing will not re-establish once lost.
Is anyone able to assist? I have upgraded the Kaiser radio to 1.27.12.32 (yes ... just tonite, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349528&page=2) but have also tried radio roms 1.27.12.11 and 1.27.12.17 with no success. The ROM version is 1.81.861.0. Ive also tried installing some of the BT stacks that were developed up for the Hermes with no success. I've also installed Jetware with no sucess.
Getting very frustrated!

There is a know problem with the Parrot kit and you will find a thread in this forum where a member has contacted Parrrot who replied that they are addressing the issue.

Hi, thanks for that pointer ... most of what is described in that MSDN library isn't in my registry.
Im going to manually insert them all and see what happens.
A

Still no luck
I tried updating the Reg with the tweeks as suggest ... but still no luck. All i get is still the initial pair, but on disconnection, no automatic re-pairing of the device to the car kit.
Im doomed at this stage.

You're not alone. I have the same problem with my Motorola S9 headphones and Microsoft SYNC in my 2008 Ford Edge. Sometimes I have to turn BT on and off a couple of times for it to connect.

agreed
Turning the BT on and off a few times has also be part of my "solution" package.
This really isn't acceptable though. This device should automatically pair up, just like every other BT device does. BT is a protocol that should be adhered to and just work.
I have also tried this on my other WM device. It pairs a little better, but is not great. I've tried compairing the registry values of that device to my Kaiser, but I just dont understand the functionality of the reg settings enough to work out what to change.
Is there some developer out there who can help? This type of problem was experienced by us all back in the early days of the Hermes and this community sorted it out.
Can any developer out there help, like working out a port of the Widcomm BT stack for Kaiser?
a

Interesting. I have a Nokia CK-7W bluetooth car kit and the Tyn II has re-connected/connected to the kit every time. Actually more reliable than my SE K800i. Sorry that it doesn't help you.

Hey Juzzman,
nah, that doesnt help ... but does increase the frustration level!
Seems like you need to have a Nokia component in there somewhere for it to work ;-)
Anyhow, Im still convinced it is a bluetooth stack problem in the Kaiser. I'm going to try flashing one of the AT&T based roms and the other radio version and see what happens.
Cheers
Adam

I've had BT issues with all of my HTC devices, it's very frustrating.
Currently I've got a Kaiser (Orange), E650 (Orange) and a new S730, none of which work on my Pioneer headunit without Jetware.
The Kaiser with Jetware pairs up ok, but the sound is really tinny.
The E650 with Jetware sounds fine, but I can only send 150 contacts to the headunit.
The S730 doesn't pair, haven't put Jetware on it yet.
In the past I've had BT issues with M3100, C600, C500 etc etc.
Why the hell doesn't MS sort out their bloody BT stack!!!

Bluetooth problems
I am having the same problem with my JVC bluetooth unit BT1000. It will pair ok first time, allows me to make 2 calls. Will not the reestablish a connection/pairing. JVC worked fine with my sony erricson and nokia phones. Anyone found a cure to this?

Same problem with the stock AT&T rom (1.27.12.11) with the H700 headset.
Turn bluetooth on it normally sees the headset. If not turn it off and on again to get it to work. Once working it normal looses the connection after an hour or so.

Could it be a BT 2.0 Compliant issue?
I have posted this same problem earlier in xda-deveopers, on htc wiki and aximsite. Many people have viewed and are experiencing this same problem, but no one has posted any solution specific to my problem either. I hope a developer can solve this one for us. Is it a BT stack problem, or a BT 2.0 compliant problem, or a need for an updated ATT ROM to solve this issue? (I currently am using the stock ATT ROM 1.57.. that shipped with my Tilt.)
When I use my Motorola H700 with the Tilt the BT works fine, UNTIL, I use the voice speed dialing from the Tilt. Once I use the voice speed dialing directly on the Tilt, the Motorola H700 will no longer connect. I have to do a soft reset or go through the pairing process again. Once I re-establish pairing again, the H700 will continue to work fine, UNTIL, I use the voice speed dialing on the Tilt. Then we're back to having to do a soft reset to again establish H700 connection with the Tilt.
NOW, I just received a call back from an HTC tech who told me the problem is likely due to the Motorola H700 being only BT 1.2 compliant. He recommended that I try the Motorola H12, which is BT 2.0 compliant, but he could not absolutely guarantee this would solve my problem.
Does anyone know for SURE that the Motorola H12, being BT 2.0 compliant, will solve my problem? Or is there another solution?
Note: I have tried MS Voice Command 1.6 (full version), but the above problem still occurs. I have also tried Jetware, but again, no go. I am not sure that there is going to be an updated AT&T ROM to solve this issue either.
Additional Note: I have also tried other BT devices, such as the Jawbone, and the Plantronics Voyager. All do exactly the same thing as above.
Anyone have any solution? If the Motorola H12 is the solution, that would be great...
Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same problem with my new carkit. Did anyone ever find a solution to this??

Hi,
do you tried also a buttom to call with voice command application or a phone call ?
I've a HTC S100 and the sound is well but it's very difficult to start a voice commande or to recall last call because seem that the function "hand free" sometime is lose.

I have the same problem with my handsfree headsets an Tytn II (kaiser):
i have a motorola H700 and a Scalarider headset for helmets.
They are bot NON-ADP and thyey support handsfree.
Sometimes the button on them stop working and I can't do voice dialing with Voice command neither repeat last call.
They appear as connected and If I manually call a number they work.
To get the button works again I have to restart the phone.
Maybe a fault in the microsoft bluetooth stack?
Also: my Motorola H700 has a flip and when you open it the headset turn on and get connected.
You should be able to answer phone calls by opening the flip.
Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn't connect if I open it while the phone is ringing and in that case I have to restart bluetooth connection to make it work again.
Microsoft or HTC should check end improve bluetooth stack!
Any hack around?
Can't we put the broadcom instead of microsoft stack on kaiser?
I wrote to HTC Support about this problem and they answered :

Amazing answer!
Are they idiot?
I'll write them too,
I hope someone cleverer will read the my mail
and suggest the bug to the technical stuff.
I have a motorola H350 and have been experiencing the same problems. It's driving me mad. The problem makes the use of the hands free totally useless as it seems to stop working at the drop of a hat.
What I've found so far.
To get it working you need to turn on the ear piece.
Then turn on the bluetooth on the phone.
If you do this any other way it doesn't work. Once it's working you may or may not be able to hang up with the button. If that's the case it won't answer with the button either.
Once it's working it seems to work ok till either the headset or the phone's bluetooth is turned off.
Voice dial will not fire up until the main procedure if followed and sometimes it takes several tries.
I was wondering if this was something to do with the motorola but seemingly it's to do with the stack so getting another device isn't going to help I guess.
The bluetooth worked perfectly on the Hermes but immediately I got the Kaiser one thing alerted me to the fact that something was different.
With the Hermes, as soon as I turned on the bluetooth and the earpiece the phone would alert me to the fact that the motorola wanted to connect.
With the Kaiser nothing, even when I searched for a device. I had to find out how to put the earpiece into search mode before it would find it.
Very flakey and very disappointing. I hope someone finds a fix for this.
Anyone else experiencing these problems?
I've got an H700 and Jawbone. I do notice more crackle type sounds and lower volume on both using Kaiser compared to my 8525. The H700 connects within 1-2 seconds when opening it's flip and I have noticed that on occasion, if I walk away from the phone (eg. phone on desk) the headset may not reconnect when I return. The Jawbone has been fairly good at connecting and staying functional at all times but the volume is lower as noted by many people.
I would say that the stack overall is better than the 8525's for all the devices I've tried (3 headsets, 2 Laptops, 1 Garmin Streetpilot with BT Phone interface)
I am also losing the Voice speed dial & redial button from time to time. It also worked that way with my hermes, so I kinda get used to it...
I am now wondering if it is related to my BT earpiece (nokia bh-200 or something like this) of if it is the BT stack which has never been really working on all the device I could test (hermes, trinity, kaiser).
I allmost never had issue recieving call (I don't recieve much call while using the BT earpiece) but it is sometime impossible to initiate a call through the BT earpiece.
The simplest way for me to lose the voice recognition is to:
-Start BT on the phone
-Start BT earpiece
Phone recognize the earpiece, everything is fine
-Restart the phone
Phone & BT reconnect, but voice recognition & redial are gone
I would really appreciate of some of you could test my little procedure and report if it works of not. If it is working for some other BT earpiece I may change mine and get rid of this eternal annoying issue.
Thanks
Jabra BT500
I have the Jabra BT500 and same problem with the TyTn II.
The earpiece can't initiate a voice call...
Looks like HTC (or Windows), starts to deliver ROMs like Mr. Bill Gates does with his M$ crap...
If someone find a solution for this Bluetooth problem, please post it!!!!
Thanks a lot,
Kaiser and Moto H700 just do not work together
I also have a problem with the Kaiser and a Moto H700. The M700 button stops working randomly, the BT connection sometimes disconnect during the call at will.
I can still use H700 successfully with my old Nokia 6680, so the problem clearly is in the Kaisers BT stack.
I’ve made the BT update that HTC posted just recently for TyTN II, but it had no effect.
Fortunately, I have my old Moto H500. This one is working OK with the Kaiser, but. Like it was pointed here before me, the only way to get it working you need to turn on the ear piece. Then turn on the Bluetooth on the phone.
In case if the Bluetooth connection was disrupted for some reason, the only way to make it work is again swath Kaiser BT off then turn on the ear piece and switch on the TyTNs BT.
The Kaiser’s BT stack is not good also connecting with a PC, the connection is just not stable.
Just wanted to chime in and say I've had the exact same problems with my Tilt and Motorola H700 as various people have described here. I posted about it on the AT&T forum too, and no one there has any working solution either, AFAIK. I too tried the "fix" from HTC, and to no avail.
This is a pretty big disappointment for me; I love my Tilt, but Bluetooth is not new technology, and it's really inconvenient that it works so poorly on this phone.
Motorola headsets seem to have a problem with this device. I had trouble getting my H500 to connect and the voice button to work. Once I reset the phone when the headset was on and it wouldn't connect. I tried deleting and re-pairing. It took another reset to get it back. Fortunately I don't use that headset anymore.

The same problem.
But this time with the Sony Ericsson BT HBH - DS980.
I also put the "fix" from HTC, I gave them back and they change them with another brand new Sony Ericsson BT HBH - DS980, but the problem exists.

Way beyond my abilities, but cant the BT stack on Hermes be cooked into a rom for the Kaiser ?
I have a Motorola HT820 and a Motorola S9 both devices are working flawless with the kaiser.
Now i own a motorola S705 too , with this device my kaiser suddenly turn the bluetooth off (

WM6, bluetooth car kit and incoming port problem

Hi guys,
I am at the end of my tether... I just bought a JVC head unit with on board bluetooth, so I can use it as a car kit. But I can't get my Treo 750 to pair with it! It just locks up after I enter the passkey... and the car kit just says "error" after a certain amount of time. I'm running a vanilla (extended ROM removed) version of the 3 Australia ROM.
So, I rolled back to Windows Mobile 5... same problem... UNTIL I went into the Bluetooth settings and setup an incoming COM port. Then it paired up perfectly and all was well.
So I've reinstalled WM6, but it doesn't have the option to create an incoming COM port. That's really annoying. I've googled a heap, and searched these forums a fair bit too, but haven't been able to find any sort of workaround. Is there a registry hack, third party program, or some other way I can tell it to allow an incoming connection from the car kit?
Thanks in advance!
Has anyone had any ideas on this? I have a real issue now, as I rolled back to a WM5 ROM which I found on these forums but I'm having awful problems with it - it drops calls all the time and sometimes they just go silent..... the call stays connected but I can't hear the person on the other end.
I really need to get either the original Telstra WM5 ROM, or a way of getting WM6 to work with my car kit! Any ideas... anyone??
Okay... now I really feel like I'm talking to myself but anyway.... thought I'd give an update.
After heaps of trial and error, I managed to install the Universal version of the Broadcomm bluetooth stack onto my device. And it pairs - hooray!
However... when I make a call, no sound comes through the speakers
No other version of the Broadcomm stack will run on my Treo, I just get the memory error that lots of other people have mentioned.
Chalk another person down who's royally annoyed with Palm for putting such a dodgy implementation of Bluetooth into these devices. It's my one and only bugbear to date.
I have exactly the same problem when pairing my WM6 Treo 750 to a Parrot MK6100 carkit. After entering the passcode on the Treo, the device just hangs. The carkit says it has connected succesfully, but nothing happens. After restarting it does not recognize the carkit at all.
Did you find a solution yet? I am also looking for a different Bluetooth stack that is guaranteed to work with the Treo.
Good to see I'm not the only one. No, I haven't found a solution yet unfortunately
The closest I've come is that hacked Broadcomm Bluetooth stack. My only hope is that some nice developer will help us develop something that works!
Hi Ben,
I solved my problem yesterday. I tried two suggestions.
1) Leave the passcode field blank (do not enter '0000') and press next
2) Install http://www.jetwaremobile.nl (fully functional 30-day trial)
After that pairing succeeded in a couple of seconds and all is working well. Let me know how it works out.
Thanks very much MattMax!
I had tried the Jetware software previously, and it didn't help. But I hadn't tried leaving the passkey field blank. Did that this morning... it popped up with a connection dialog asking if I wanted to allow the connection... went back to the passkey screen, I entered 0000 and away the sucker went. How simple was that!!
I just upgraded to the latest ROW2.23 WM6 ROM the other day, so I'm not sure if that made any difference either. But it's now paired and (seems to be) working well, just need to make and receive a few calls to make sure.
Thanks very much for your suggestion!
Good to hear that it worked out!
I had exactly the same experience, leaving the field blank, after that entering '0000' and it worked. I had just installed Jetware Mobile, but apparently that is not necessary for the solution.

Bluetooth locks up, must be turned off/on to reset

This is one of several problems with my AT&T Tilt. My 30 day return policy ends November 8, so I'm trying to figure out which problems are specific to my phone and which are just Kaiser in general.
Every few days my Bluetooth locks up and I can't connect to my Parrot MK6000 until I turn my Tilt's Bluetooth off/on. Never had this problem with my 8125. On Helmi's ROM now, but I think it happened on the stock AT&T ROM, too.
Anyone experience Bluetooth lock ups on their Kaiser?
I'm having problems pairing my Tilt with the Parrot MK6100. After I enter the 0000 code, the MK6100 says pairing is done, but the Tilt's cursor keeps spinning like it's thinking and it never actually pairs. I even tried using a friend's Tilt and had the same problem.
My wife's Moto Z3 paired fine with the MK6100 so it's a Tilt issue.
I have the same issue. I used to have the same issue on my Sprint PPC-6700 until I started using a non-stock ROM (Kirvin's clean and simple 3.5) and I had it on a Sprint PPC-6800. I think it's something about the bluetooth stack that's used. I'm guessing once someone has a ROM with a better bluetooth stack the problem will go away.

I have the pairing problem, too. The way around it is to turn off the phone's Bluetooth authentication (on Security tab) and then leave the password blank when pairing.
Fourgig, do you have to press the Play button on your Parrot to establish A2DP? Hands-free mode always connects without interaction, but A2DP requires this annoying extra step. Why doesn't A2DP connect automatically, too? Are all A2DP devices this way, or is this just a problem with Parrot?
And wtf is the problem with writing a decent Bluetooth stack? So few out there and they all suck, especially Microsoft's. No one seems focused on fixing it.
Doh! I knew I should have waited for a response from one of you guys/gals. I hard reset my phone to see if that would help (it did). The Tilt was able to pair fine after hard reset.
BennTech, I also need to press the play button on the Parrot before it will stream a2dp. I have a feeling that it's a Parrot issue because I don't have that problem with my HT820 headphones. As soon as the HT820 connects, it starts streaming a2dp.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. Damn Parrot. I'm really starting to hate that overpriced piece of crap.
Sorry you hard reset before I responded. I sat in my driveway for an hour figuring out that pairing issue. Obviously a problem with the Kaiser. Damn Kaiser. I'm really starting to hate that overpriced piece of crap.
how does music sound streamed through this ? the mk6100
Music sounds good. However, I have noticed occasional sound fluctuations where the volume changes noticeably, particularly with audiobooks and during phone calls. Might be Kaiser-specific because I don't remember this happening with my Wizard.
Also, besides the lockup issue that started this thread, my connection between the Kaiser and Parrot is frequently lost and reconnected when not streaming music, which mutes the radio for a few seconds to play the Parrot's connection chime. Definitely didn't happen with my Wizard.
Supposedly the new Windows Mobile 6.1 has some Bluetooth fixes. Haven't taken the time flash my phone & test, but I'll probably do that in the next month to see if that fixes any of these annoying issues.
Last, if you're looking at the Parrot MK6000 or MK6100 (functionally identical), read my lengthy MK6000 review posted back in the Wizard section.

Connecting to bluetooth car kit takes very long!

Hi,
my Diamond works ok with my Parrot bluetooth car kit. The only thing that is really anoying me, it takes veeeery long until the Diamond has established the connection to the car kit. I have to drive for several minutes! until the Diamond connects. Before I had a Sony Ericcson phone where I did not have this problem.
Any ideas? Is this just because the Diamond is a WM phone?? Or is there a way to improve this?
Thanks
I use my diamond with a Parrot CK3300 - not sure if that is the same as yours. I only use it for handsfree since I use the Diamond's own GPS receiver. I don't have this problem - it picks up and pairs within seconds.
Have you flashed the Parrot with the latest software? I found that improved performance considerably - automatic update of contacts, user name on screen rather than phone name etc.
I use the Parrot CK3100 and the pick is almost instant; I've barely got in the car and started it up and the Parrot has picked up my Diamond. It was just as quick on my Hermes device too.
I also have a CK3100 and here's somewhat the same problem.
It connects in a few seconds, and it's usable.
But the synchronisation takes forever.....
That doesn't bother me, becouse I'm quite long in my car when driving to work...
But:
The phonebook in my CK3100 starts with the numbers wich are saved on the SIMcard.
All my friends are saved on the internal memory of the TD.
So if i want to call 'Anouk': I press 'A' on the CK3100.
It starts with the 'A' from the SIMcard.
Then I have to use the turning wheel, to scroll BACKwards to "anouk'!
So this takes a lot of time.... and is very, very unpracticle.
Someone a solution for this?
As I said before flashing the latest software onto my Parrot made it much better for syncing contacts. But I only need do it once - after that it only checks for changes. It should not be syncing each time because the Parrot should store the contacts itself.
Yep, just check the Parrot website to see what the latest update is for your particular BT device and try applying it. Saying that, I've not updated my one from factory.
Unfortunately I was not able to update my Parrot so far. I have only a CK3000 Evolution, Firmware version 5.08C. I guess I would need this special serial flash cable...
@ swissly
i have the same problems fw months ago. you have to delete the partnership's on your CK3000. press the red and the green button for more the 3 sec. (Erasing in progress) if this is done you can create a new partnership. hope that helps.

Hello
For all of you who have a Parrot Bluetooth car kit listen up:
When you use any phone with any Parrot Bluetooth car kits please go to the Parrot support website to flash your car kit - http://www.parrot.com/uk/support/onlinehelpguides
This will update the device with the latest firmware and as Parrot continuly add new phones to their list it is must. I did it as soon as my HTC Diamond arrived and finds it pairs/syncs within 1 - 3 seconds of switching the car on. FYI I have a Parrot MK6100 device, which supports A2DP Bluetooth audio and is mint. Previous to this I had an SPV M700 and a Parrot CK3100-something, but same thing - update it and you will find it solves the problem(s).
- PLEASE HOWEVER READ THE INSTRUCTIONS ON FLASHING - IT AIN'T HARD BUT READ IT ANYWAY!!! -
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I still think I CANNOT UPDATE my Parrot CK3000 Evolution WITHOUT THE PARROT SERIAL CABLE!

You are correct AFAIK. Most other Parrots can be updated easily using bluetooth, but not that one. Probably why it was cheaper than the others.

[Q] Bluetooth Carkit Issues :(

Please only repond to this if you have solved carkit issues.
I have a JVC AVX33 headunit with bluetooth, worked perfect on my old SE K800i, however on my diamond it keeps "booting" the bluetooth connection.
Connects for 30 seconds, looses connection, and connects again.
Is there a possible fix for this?
New Bluetooth Stack?
Tweak?
Or an explanation to why this is happening?
It Renders my Diamond useless in my car setup, and this would meen the world to me to have fixed.
Would purchasing a PARROT bluetooth carkit solve the problem?
Do you search the carkit with the phone or vice versa let the carkit search the phone?
I would recommend to test both setups. Do not forget to make your phone visible for the carkit when you want to pair it. Are you able to enter the bluetooth pair code on the phone when requested?
Hi, i have a Pioneer deh-p9800bt with bluetooth handsfree function and the only way to use it with wm6 and 6.1 (Htc Jamin, Gsmart i120 and Gsmart T600) has been to install Jetware HandsFree Extension. With the Gsmarts the Pioneer connects automatically and all works perfectly, with the Diamond the connection must be started every time from the Pioneer, but, then, all works (also battery and signal level): i think that a registry tweak has to be made in order to have an automatic connection.. i will try to see the differences between the registry settings of the i120 and the Diamond..
Yes i tried pairing both ways phone -> headunit and visa versa, and i am able to pair the two devices with code. However it keeps booting the bluetooth, looses connection and then getting it again. About every 30 seconds.
And i tried JETware yesterday without any change, however i am going through the different JETware config add-ons today to see if the result is better.
I think that its when the phone is trying to update the contact list to the headunit, it crashes the bluetooth. Anybody know if it is possible to change the bluetooth stack driver with another? on the HTC Touch Dual i had previous the bluetooth worked just fine.
