help registry problem - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

i accidently renamed a file in the registry. Now i can't open file explorer or view other things. i was using total commander and the file is in "registry\HKLM\" the file is in between "software" amd "system" so can somebody please tell me the original name of the file?
P.S-im sorry if i posted this in the wrong section

There's no other folder in my phone between those two folders.

do you think "clear storage" it'll put everything back to normal?

i know it started with an S can someone please help me i can't open my contacts or the windows media

A Hard Reset would fix the issue. Sorry but there was nothing else there.

Here are the available directories in registry/HKLM on my WING that start with "S" Haha!!! (sorry)
-Security
-Services
-Snd
-Software
-System
If you cant open Windows Media, you probably renamed the "software" directory.
In registry/HKCU there is a directory between "software" and "system" named "Start". That could be it.
LoL Hope this helps.

Word completion not working

Good morning, The text completion on my TYTN 2 is not working at all. I've done a hard reset, I have the appropriate boxes ticked, but no joy. Any ideas please??
Delete the file compimeh in windoes directory and then softreset.
Sebastian - can you please explain what the file compimeh is? I have "compime" and "compimeh.0409" in my Windows folder - I am not sure which needs removing....
My text completion in the Pocket Outlook "To" filed does not work, but I thought that was to do with HTC Touchpad - will deleting the file you mention solve this problem?
Thanks (and apologies if this didn't relate to ribcage's original problem).
the copimeh.0409 is the dictonary of the phone. so it wouldt not help you. in that file are the words for suggestion saved in. but you can try it out. the fille will automaticaly recreated after softreset

The file named compimeh is not present in my windows directory or anywhere in my device. I looked manually and did a search. Would finding that file and placing it the windows directory solve the problem?

What brings up Memory on Tilt/TYTN II?

anyone know what command brings up the memory program in settings? meaning in windows folder java.exe brings up java, camera.exe brings up the camera, i can't find a memory.exe or storage.exe so i was hoping someone around here might know what it is and what folder it's in.
I have a "running programs.lnk" but I think this is a file that came with Slithers cube.
Having said that \windows\start menu\programs\shortcuts\task manager.lnk seems to do the job...
hmm, i don't have "shortcuts" i'm just using a stock tilt rom, so i'm not sure where it's at. i've looked everywere. it's probably called something that i don't recognize. under \windows\start menu\settings\ is empty but when i go on the device i see all the apps in settings. i'm assuming it's somewhere around there.
22#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,2
is the link to open up the stock task/memory manager to the running programs tab, i've attached the lnk for your use
Just unzip and drop on your device where ever you desire....

thanks, that works, i don't suppose there's a way to get it to open up to the memory instead of tasks??
were is ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,2 located at? is it in the windows folder? i didn't see it, i did see ctlpnl.exe or what ever it was. i tried that one, but it didn't work.
22#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,0
Sure just change the number 2 to 0 at the end of the link (this is the number of tab to open (zero based))
cplmain.cpl exists in the /windows directory, it will be there its part of Windows Mobile, maybe you need to unhide all file types (or system files/dlls etc) as they maybe hidden....
Hope this helps...

ok, were do i change the 2 to 0 at? on the zip file you gave me or on what the file in the widows directory? i didn't see were you can change on the zip you gave me.
The last digit of the string within the .lnk file thats in the zip file....
remebering to unzip the file and drop it onto your device (usually somewhere on the start menu/ today screen) i only zipped it up coz you cant upload .lnk files
Running Tasks
22#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,2
Memory
22#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,0
Anyhow heres the modified lnk attached to open memory for you...
Cheers,

How do I add .exe files to my All Programs list?

I downloaded a program called Flashlight, and I wanted to know how I could get it onto my all programs list, since it came as an .exe rather than a cab. Thanks in advance!

Either move the file to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs or Create a shortcut to the exe (Copy the file in File Explorer and Choose Paste Shortcut) there.

Ah! That did the trick. Thank you very much
doesn't work with GpsCompass
I installed a program called GpaCompass that doesn't show up in my win/startmenu/programs, so I copied and pasted the .exe there, I tried to cut/paste the .exe there, still no go. it gives me an alarm about microsoft.net, but i have 3.5 installed. I've tried using 2.0 as default AND 3.5 as default. not sure what to do. I'll try to include screenshot of error msg.

Don't copy (or cut!) and paste the exe to your Startmenu/Programs folder. Instead you should copy and paste a SHORTCUT to the exe in your Starmenu/Programs folder. By pasting the exe file itself into your folder it is trying to execute from that folder when other files that it may need are in the installation directory somewhere else on your device.
So first, cut and paste the .exe back to where it was originally located. Next copy the exe and "Paste as shortcut" into your Startmenu/Programs folder
Thanks lots
@ Rumbal,
worked beautifully, thanks a lot! I apparently misunderstood other posts I had read about doing this. And , call me an idiot, but somehow completely overlooked "paste as shortcut", and only saw "paste".
Thanks
woot!
Thanks!
This is something I just learned as well. Now I'm going to go ahead and make all the shortcuts I want!
It took a while, but I didn't want to ASK and get flamed for it. Anyway, these forms are tens of thousands of posts deep....I knew the answer was here

Amazing trick...this worked without troubles, and it can be set manually mostly for portable applications which does not install in Program Files folder.
I just did a trick with portable Dreamweaver by simply copying the portable folder to the Program Files, and then copied and pasted Dreamweaver.exe shortcut in Star Menu\Programs folder....worked fine.
Thanx for ur tips...

Help! Registry Problems! HKLM

Hey guys , I went into my registry with Total Commander and my phone got a little click happy and renamed a folder in my HKLM, problem is I don't know what the folder was called! , now when my phone starts up it can't ifnd MSPOUTLOOK or MSCPROG , so i'm wondering if someone can give me a list of all the folders they have in HKLM so I can see which folder i'm missing.
MSPOUTLOOK and MSCPROG are defined in the following key:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai
that's what I thought , it shows I have a Software folder in there already though , did the OS automatically create the folder again once it was renamed do you think? would i be safe deleting the current Software folder and renaming the other folder to Software?
so I went ahead and deleted it and it just regenerated itself again, how am I going to get rid of it to rename the original Software file back to how it should be.
copying all the data from the folder that was accidentally renamed into the new folder , this should work... i hope...
it worked thank christ
PROBLEM SOLVED!

request file from windows/startup dir

Hi,
I accidently deleted a file from windows/startup folder. From what i can remember it started with btxxxx.exe
Because of this accident, bluetooth cannot be enabled anymore within com manager.
I am running wm 6.5
Thanks in advance.
BTTrayCE.lnk?
Yes! that sounds familiar
But, if its a lnk i should be able to recreate the link from the original location.
You may copy it from /Windows. Just tap and hold on the link, go to /Windows/StartUp and paste it there.
Thanks, I hope thats it.
Could you let me know what other startup links you have in the startup folder (except for the apps you installed yourself)
Hahhaha, sure
You messed up with the "boot speed up process"? Cleaned too much?
BTTrayCE
HTCStartUp
PKG

Edit: Btw. I'm using Rhodium S2 rom, but I believe that the shortcut's in Rhodium S are same.
thread closed, not rom development
