I tried to copy a film on my pda but i doesn´t show it.
do anyone has a good application to watch movies on the XDA IIi??? The only application I have are windowsmediaplayer and "album"...

TCPMP problem
I use the TCPMP app to play AVI files with no problems. I downloaded a podcast (MP4) but TCPMP says that this codec was removed. Tried with the WM player and it also does not read the format. I can convert the MP4 files to AVI format but it's a pain to do so.
Does anyone know how to put the codec back into TCPMP?

you could try the retail version of TCPMP... COREPLAYER.
It is still under development, even if it's already available to consumers, so the features aren't complete yet compared to TCPMP...
If you still want to use TCPMP, I would suggest looking for the AVC plugin for it...
The filename I think is AVC.plg. Don't know where to find it though...
The codec was removed because of license issues, you can download it from certain sites and put it back, but it's against the law to do so.
I'm using Sompy MovieEncoder it's work pretty good and it's free. It's compress 750 mb video file to about 150 mb. You can get it from download.com under mobile section

I m trying to get my TTYN II to playback avi files but cant seem to make it happen... I've tried downloading the Core player but that gives an error saying it doest have the MPEG-4 codec? Where do I get the codec's from?

it shouldnt ask for mp4 codec if you are playing an avi file. different formats. did you download the latest version of core player? make sure you get the one for pocket pc and the latest version is 0.72RC1. avi works fine for me.
AVI is just a file format, it has nothing to do with the codec. So there can be MPEG4 AVIs. Actually most are (DivX and Xvid are MPEG4). MPEG4 videos don't necessarily have the .mp4 extension.
Don't know how to install the codec though, don't have a Kaiser yet lol.
If you installed the core player (http://www.coreplayer.com/) then you should be able to play avi files. What version are you using ?
Try to uninstall and reinstall it and try again.

I'll be watching for responses as I'm also wanting to play MPEG 4 files (with avi extensions - from ATI's Multimedia Centre Software on my desktop PC) on my TyTN II. I'd prefer just to use a codec to provide this functionality in the built in version of pocket media player (what I currently use for wmv files).

[Edit] Alas it didn't allow playing of my ATI Multimedia Centre produced mp4 AVI files - back to wmv for me.

Better ? Prolly not.
But instead of installing another player, you just add some codecs with it instead.
Anyway, my personal favourite is the core mobile player (which isnt free)
While I still haven't published the "full" Multimedia Bible, the H.264 Bible at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=The H.264 (a.k.a. MPEG-4 Part 10 and AVC) Bible (in the Wiki) explains a LOT of these issues (what MP4 files are, what they can contain, what players and what codec packs are needed to play them etc)

Since all my old music video's are in 320x240 format I'd like to re-encode my ORIGINAL music video files into 640x480 format.
Until now I've been using Nero Recode which gave me ease of use and a pretty nice result.
What program(s) are you using to encode your material and what settings?
I know the Diamond can pretty much play a divx/xvid without re-encoding, but I'd like a smaller filesize so I can place more files on it.
pocketdivx encoder is free, simple to use and produces good results

I've tested a bit around with encoding Movie files.
Under Windows i become good results with Super from eRightSoft
But i use the most time Linux Debian. There is "AviDemux" you're friend
I'd converted some of my Musicclips in MP4 with AviDemux. In advance:
"MPEG-4 ASP Xvid" at "800KBit VBR"
"AAC (FAAC)" Audio at "128KBit"
Super from eRightSoft in advance:
"H.264 AVC" at "1000KBit CBR"
"AAC (LC)" at "128KBit" Audio
The results seems very pretty so far. But the video seems to stuck if the Bitrate is more than 1100KBit. All tested with Mobile Windows Media Player, because i dont have Coreplayer at the moment.
The old TCMP 0.xx gives an horrorble output. Too many framedrops etc.
Which formats are natively supported from the Qualcomm Chipset, knows that anyone ?
I'm using TCPMP and I can't get bigger files to play smooth for the life of me...any suggestions?

I second that Especially the new Zune is really nice. You can connect via your router to sync your music. I just hate the zune syncing software it's such a pain in the ass. I wish we could sync with WMP. I mean come on seriously.
Pocket Divx encoder
I had the same problem with my touch. TCPMP would not play large video's .avi even though it supports it. I used Pocket Divx Encoder to reduce the .avi according to my screen size and now I can watch any .avi without any problems and the audio and picture is still incredibly clear. I max out video and audio quality still with no problems during playback.

I use CorePlayer (based on TCPMP ) to play my Divx files (700 to 900 Mo each resolution 660*360, datarate 1010kbps) without any specific Mobile transcoding and it plays quite well with the right settings, with some rare glitches (but i guess it will never work flawlessly until we have the real Kaiser drivers).
TCPMP is good, but Coreplayer is faster on the Kaiser from my own experience.
The only down side about Coreplayer (aside from the fact its not freeware) is that it cannot play AC3 sound unlike TCPMP (due to open source licence)
why i dont understand it...when i had my standard att WM 6.0 rom that came with my tilt...i watched avis and mpeg4//divx movies CRYSTAL CLEAR....and thatt was with no htc ca driver or none of that ****. And now ive upgraded to WM 6.1..first duttys hybrid then L26 and now garmins...and each rom has the same problem...old tcpmps crash and when i use the repack tcpmp app and it works....i have SLUGGISH and chopppy fps when i watch avi movies and mpeg stufff. How is this possible with all the new drivers and such....it was crystal clear to watch movies with WM 6.0..but with 6.1 its choppy and ****ty playback? has anybody found a better fix for this other then converting the movies to sccreen resolution?

Try xvid4psp. It's free, fast and has enough options. I use MP4 iPod 5.0G settings for Kaiser.

on a site showing format support, i dont see where mp4ipod is supported..

- XviD4PSP is not media player for PPC.
- XviD4PSP is software for converting videos. You can find it here.
- MP4 iPod 5.0G is just one of the format settings in Xvid4PSP.

i do know that it isnt a player, what do you use?
how well do vids play on your setup..does it keep up w/bigger vids?
i tried core--sucks for me... but i did not convert formats before trying..

I use Core Player for videos. Videos converted with XviD4PSP using my settings does not play well in WM player. You can try it with some other settings.
Here are my current settings:
- Format: MP4 iPod 5.0G
- Denoise/Sharpen: Disabled
- Brightness/Contrast: Disabled
- Video encoding: XviD HQ Ultra
- Audio encoding: AAC-LC ABR 128
I don't know what you mean with "bigger vids", but I use it for converting my divx/xvid movies and shows to MP4 and it works well. I think it supports even DVD files, but i didn't try that.
Last time i checked it took 6 minutes to convert some 30 minutes divx show to MP4 (Athlon X2 4000+, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8800GT).
One more thing about Core Player
Core Player with default setup gives me audio out of sync. But you can adjust that in options.
i tried those settings and didn't get a good result

I use it also. I watch moives on my phone and it works fine playing full screen and BT stereo.
try the new win 6.1 that att put out for the tilt... it might be more stable since it is the new shipping rom
I'm looking a good video converter that compresses my movies so i can put them on my Tilt. Most movies i have are around 700MB and i need to get them compressed, without killing the video quality. Any help would be great, thanks.
What bitrate and codec are you using? I encode my videos at 320x240 using 1000kb DivX, and 2 hour movies come out around 400MB.
Also i can't use .avi, must be MPEG format after conversion. but my bitrate is 1000 and 320x240 is the size. Im going from .avi to .mpg

Not a problem I used TCPMP for a while before I swapped over to coreplayer. Glad I could help
I use Pocket Divx encoder - It works great - Reduces the size to fit my screen, Avg video is 300 mb instead of 700 mb but you can still play with the quality to increase quality (Which increases file size) or reduce quality (to reduce file size). You can choose to play with video or audio qualities. I like to max out these settings as I like a crystal Clear picture on my screen with nice clear sound when I play through my car stereo.
Pocket Divx encoder is free - Just google it and try it for yourself.
I'll try that... also i should point out that if you use the D3D drivers, the videos play great. And to even make them near-perfect, put the frame rate at 15 instead of 25 or whatever. Then its near perfect for me.
SUPER is perfectly capable of enconding any flavour of mpeg (2,3,4 you name it...)
For every conversion I use Mediacoder. Whether it's for my Kaiser, PSP, an iPod, .or just for converting vids or music, this is my choice.
It's not really user-friendly and you will have to know what you're doing (since it lacks a good wizard IMHO). But once you master this program, the options are pratically unlimited.
Best of all, it's free!
I've used almost all the converters already listed here. But for me, the best one is still Xvid4PSP.
Originally used for the PSP, it has several presets built-in but you can use advanced settings also.
