Help - replaced micro sd card - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi there,
I just replaced my microsd card as the first one I had died a death. I've copied all the files over from the old one (backups - we love you!) but the phone is seeing the new card as Storage Card2 and thus none of the apps can see their data files and the apps installed on the old card won't work! Is there any way to make the Kaiser see the new card as the old one?
Thanks

Usually that happens when you save your IE cache to your SD card or something similar like email attatchments. When you remove you SD card it creates a folder on your phone and names it storage card. The easiest way to fix it would be to remove the SD card again and then delete the file called Storage card and then shut your phone off and put the SD card back in and reboot. It will then move the IE cache or whatever caused the problem back to the SD card and will only see 1 storage card again.

This is likely to be a recurring issue, though. If the SD card is put to sleep, it won't wake up quickly enough for apps that are writing to it. This is typically an issue when you're directing mail and/or attachments to the card rather than memory. Unless you really need to (due to space), it's easier to avoid the issue and just keep them on the device.

All Storage Card Files Gone!

I've been using a 6G ScanDisk card for the last 6 months, without any problems. I needed to move some files from the Tilt's internal memory to the Card, and to my surprise there was only a folder named "FilesToBeDeleted" on the Card. I DID NOT CREATE THIS FOLDER! Oh, and by the way the folder was empty!
Checking the storage of the card from the Memory Setting of the PPC, shows about 3 G in use, which is about what I had on it.
Can anyone shed any light on what could have happened? I can re-format the Card....but is it going to loose data again? Is this something that has happened to others?
Thanks for any help,

i have read that this has happened to some people .. not me yet (fingers crossed) don't know what causes this. You could try a recovery software and see if you can get the stuff back.
Can you or anyone suggest a recovery software? Checking the MicroSD on my laptop shows 2.88 GB being used, (and of course 2.78 GB Free) so the data should be there. I have also saved additional data to the card and it works fine.
Just wondering...is there some kind of virus out there that would do this? For all the data to be "hidden" and a new folder to be created....the card just didn't create a folder by itself....
WM a card killer
The same thing happened to my 4GB SD card in Blue Angel (twice ). It seems to me that WM kills allocation table while writing to the card. I tried lots of different soft to recover my card and finally PC Inspector File Recovery did the job. I used card reader and this soft on PC to recover most of my files but the folder and filenames were sometimes messed up. When using PCI FR do not mark to many files to recover/save at the one time because it crashes.
Don't save anything on your card before recovering !

Hope my Kaiser is not going to do this to me

Yup, I used that program too. Recovered "missing files" problems on my previous hw6515 and twice on my TytnII 8GB micro SDdisk.
I've always had that "FilesToBeDeleted" folder too, it's normally hidden and when I delete it it comes back. Nothing special, just some folder the system wants there for some reason apparently, just like the other couple of hidden ones like WMDRM. If you didn't see it before and it now appeared it might have been hidden and the same thing that corrupt the FAT unhid it for some reason.
If you can see 2.88GB used on the PC, are you sure you have also have forced hidden files to display? Your data might be there but just hidden for some reason.
I have also saved additional data to the card and it works fine.

NEVER EVER do that to a media with a problem you might need to recover data from. This might just have ruined your last chance. On the opposite, when possible like on SD cards the first thing you'll want to do is set it as read-only.
When files are deleted, only their reference in the file table are, but the data itself is still present on the media, which allows recovery. But the locations the data is saved on are now marked as free, and anything you'll write on the card now can overwrite it, causing definitive loss.
Thanks a ton!!! The PC Inspector program worked great!! I was able to recover my files Next step, I guess, is to format the card and use it untill it decides to wipe my files out again. Of course my failth is the card will never be the same, and I'll keep a back up of the card also.....actually I was foolishly keeping the back-up for my Tilt on the card...can't trust that method anymore!
Thanks again for all the advise and information. As with all problems, you can always treat them as "learning opportunities", or...... throw the d*** thing out a window!!!!!
Same problem here, just ran into it last night and it's driving me nuts. Is there a way to recover/format the card from within the kaiser? Unfortunately the card reader I have has a max size limitation of 2gb and the card I'm using is 4gb - lame. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Borrow, lend, or steal another card reader.
When I purchased this MicroCard, from ScanDisk, it came with a SD adapter plus a USB Card reader. I threw the USB Card reader in my desk thinking that I would not need this. I found out, by accident, that this USB card reader was the only way I could read the card on a PC. Built in card readers on both my home desk top and laptop would not access the card....
Just passing on this little bit of information, because it never occured to me that I had to use that USB Card reader!
This happened to my girlfriend's phone too. One day some of her programs just didn't work and most everything was gone on her card. Never fixed it, just reformatted card. Scary though.
Yeah, I tried recovering the data using TestDisk, saw some recommendations for it from others with the same problem, but wasn't able to get anywhere with it unfortunately. So in the end all I could do was format it and start over. Ahhh, backups... if I'd only made one.
I think this is a WM issue. Since other devices have the same problem.
here is a quote from another thread

I have the same issue with my tytn2.
Sometimes when i play some mp3s from my SD card and the device goes to standby or the program is closed my SD card is suddenly empty.
Removing the SD card and put it back in usually fixes it, sometimes a softreset also works.
So i believe this is a WM issue

Any hints on how to disable this? I did a quick search and found mention of it but nothing detailing how to control it. Thanks.

I disabled it w/ kaiser tweak. Still i have the issue
Has anyone had the issue while pretty much not ever using Windows Media Player mobile? I was playing DRM'd audio files, is that possibly a common theme?
Could it be Moving PIE Cache?
Happened to me too. 8GB card. Just getting back up and running...wish I had read this last night. I put a bunch of stuff back on the card. Oops. Oh well. I think the common thread may be:
moving your PIE Cache to the SD Card.
Anyone else with this problem also move PIE Cache? Used Memmaid 2.0 to change it.
different in my case, I haven't changed any of the cache settings for PIE.

Storage Card Identity Crisis on Tilt

My storage card had an identity crisis after I took it out of my Tilt temporarily and plugged it into a card reader. It went from officially being known as "Storage Card" to "Storage Card 2" when I plugged it back in the device.
Because of this, when I go to play my MP3s using windows media player it displays an error message that says the file cannot be found. I even tried transferring them out to my desktop and they play just fine on there.
Could this be a problem with DRM since some of them are protected files?
Anyone have any idea? I'm dying here. Please, I need my music back!
Thx.
Try pressing reset, failing which, remove the memory card, reset the phone, then reinsert the memory card, if you have applications which load from the memory card, you will have to hit reset again after.
Please note I mean soft reset, not hard reset.
Thanks, if the issue is that some files are written to Storage Card 2, is there any easy way to convert them back to the original storage card path manually?
New files on the device work fine but not the original ones which may have been saved to the card when it was under the different name. Thanks.
I had that happen too, but I noticed it immediately.
Just had to delete the "Storage Card", which was (for me) an empty directory, then soft reset. Then plugged in the SD card.
Happens to me all the time. As khaytsus said just remove the card, delete the "Storage Card" folder, then reinsert the microSD card. There is no need to soft reset in most cases.
Hello, I have a recurrent problem with my storage card. It looks like empty, programs installed in the SC stop working, etc, but if I check the usage of the storage card it show as 2gb used ! (it is a 8GBs one)
It happened 2 times, and it is so anoying. I explore the card and only see the folder with the email attachments, all the other is gone.
Can it be a problema because sync from 2 different computers ? (wokr and home) ? but it do not sync the storage card, (I think)
Some Ideas ? I see nothing about a "storage card 2" or so, and I never remove the card from the device, it is always in.
can't found a real solution in the web
thank you if somebody can provide me a litthe light

Marshmallow, SD Cards, App Data storage

I feel like I'm missing something. I recently upgraded to Marshmallow on my 8gb Moto G (2014). I saw the stuff about the adopted SD so I thought I'd try it with my 16gb card. I did this and then I found that Google Play and Pocket Casts, my two big data apps, are impossible to move to adopted storage. My internal storage filled up pretty much instantly with music and podcasts. Since my SD card is encrypted I can't just drop my music onto it with USB anymore.
So I go reformat my SD card and have it be portable. Now it's impossible to move the data from Google Play, Pocket Casts and Merlin Bird ID app to my SD card as I used to be able to. Any new pictures I take are also saved with the app on internal storage. So now with my SD card as portable my internal storage fills up quickly and I'm once again boned.
Am I missing something? This new SD card management thing is worlds worse for me than Lollipop and I'm really tempted to downgrade but I feel like I'm missing something. Should I learn how to partition my SD card and make some of it adopted and some portable? Am I missing a setting or button to fix this?
You can connect your phone on the computer and access the SD card as always on MM, at least you should be able to (I am).
If your SD card doesn't appear when you connect your phone on your PC try to chance the connection setting on the notification area.
The new SD card management thing just makes your data more... Secure. It doesn't forbid you of copying things to your SD card via USB (but accessing it via an adapter is forbidden, tho)
I just upgraded wife's 2014 moto g last night and initially used her original 32gb card, but allowed it to be formatted for internal storage. Now i'm trying to use a 128 card I bought tonight. It keeps dropping out of the format with some sort of Java error message that goes away quickly. I have to then "fix" the card with mini partition manager on a Windows PC. It works fine for the other storage type. I tried even a 64GB Fat32 partition with other half not formatted, does same thing. I think Android is reformatting from scratch and it appears creating another smaller partition (as that what partition manager shows). Any ideas? I suppose this new Android scheme is only good for up to 32GB cards.
If you have SuperSu, untick 'Mount namespace separation'.
It causes SD problems.

Weird bug related to SD card encryption

So one day my Nokia 2.1 decided to run into bootloop out of nowhere. I restarted the phone without SD card and at least it got into home screen. However, the problem is, nearly all of my apps were in the SD card and everytime I inserted the SD card, it restarted itself. So I thought removing PIN and encryption would work, since my SD card was encrypted with PIN and without the SD card, it worked just fine. HOWEVER, after removing the PIN without the SD card and restarting the phone with the SD card on, I couldn't get into the home screen because this time it asked me for PIN number. I tried every PIN numbers I have ever put in the device but it still did not work
I ended up resetting and losing all my data on my SD card. Now I am crossing my fingers and hopefully the cloud backup on Google might save the day :crying:
Not sure this applies to all Nokia but I think this is software-related, not hardware since the SD port is still working fine and my SD card is still functional.
Same problem...found fix
Experienced the same problem and I had to factory reset the phone. I've been installing apps on the phone's internal storage and using my sd card as portable storage in stead of as internal storage.I haven't encountered the same problem since

SD Card Read only?

Greetings!
I purchased a new SD card from SanDisk with 400GB.(didn't use my old one on this phone because of low storage size)
My problem is that i'm unable to copy/move/delete files to my SD card.
I can't even create a new folder.
I tried several explorers and activated the permissions for writing but no success.
I was also trying another SD card but the same problem.
If I format the card over my phone as internal storage the phone freezes, formatting as external storage is working though.
I also formatted the card on my PC but still the same issue.
Remounting the card in the settings sometimes works for a few seconds.(creating a folder,etc..)
My razer phone 2 has the newest FW with Android 9.

Heya buddy,
Just a quick enquiry, from where did you purchase your MICROSD? it sounds like you may have a fake card, the memory size is worrying indication, normally cards are sold in denominations of 32, 64, 128, 512,GB not 400 GB. Have you run a check to see if it's reporting the correct capacity size on a SD card checker. Sounds like it's a fake and when it tries to format, it goes into a loop state and crashes as the card is formatted over and over and over trying to reach the stated size but never reaches it due to it not being 400gb in size.
Sorry to spread the bad news, have had the same happen to me, I am so dam careful over which company I buy my cards from.
Let me know if I can help.

I bought it on amazon. Its a SanDisk Ultra 400GB that also appears on the official homepage. I'm pretty sure its not a fake.

Ok, that clears up the possibility of it being fake good good..
..hmmmmm. Do you have any old phones at your disposal that have a card slot? If so,. Try it in those and see if you can access it and read/write/modify files on it. Maybe format it with another device and then stick it in the razer and see if it works.
I'm sure now that cards a real deal as Amazon don't seem to allow frauds to be sold the only other thing I can think of is that it's a faulty card, it happens, they are just mass produced. Maybe a replacement if it's dudd.
I am having an SD card issue as well. I have had my Razer Phone 2 since last Monday brand new from Ebay. I purchased a Samsung 128GB class 10 (u3) SD card for it from Amazon. If I format the SD card as "internal", it shows that there is 131GB's of system files on my SD card. It shows I'm using 131GB's of storage from a total of 320GB's. The Razer Phone 2 has 64GB;s plus my 128GB SD card which would be 192GB;s total. I have tried many file manager apps, move to SD apps, etc and I cannot transfer any files. When I format the 128GB SD card as "portable", it shows the correct amount of storage space in both the phone and the card but once again I cannot transfer any files to the card. I have tried a 16GB SD card as well. The phone did recognize it and read the available storage on the phone and the card correctly. I did not format that card as I have music, photos and documents on it. I did try to transfer an app from my phone to the 16GB card and once again I could not do that. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance and take care.
I have had similar problems with my Razer2. It ruined a 512g scandisk brand microsd card. Copying, or moving files, is a real problem for this device! It hangs up sometimes and ruins the files. Never had these issues, this bad, with any other phone
I have a bunch of music on my SD card, my music app sees some of them. If I move the whole folder to my phone storage, music app sees all. If I boot to twrp (per arters kernel) and try to backup to external SD card, it fails. If I save it to the phone, works fine. It's like it doesn't constantly see the SD card slot properly.
Exfat is needed with art kernel. Stock formats as vfat a old file system. I have a 400gb exfat formatted and works perfectly
I'll have to look into getting that kernal
256gb samsung Sd card mine works fine razer phone 2
