Turning off the green blinking LED - HTC Wings

Maybe the blinking LED's are useful (finding the phone in night ) but sometimes it drives me crazy when I place the phone next to my keyboard...
So just turn it off..
Change registry value of "Index" from "1" to "0" in
"HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\AllLEDMgr". Soft reset. And voila...
EDIT: Unfortunately it has one side effect - Wings stop vibrate.

Well, here is working sollution...
Copy WingsLefOff to \Windows\StartUp folder
- WingsLedOff turns off both green (network available) and blue (BlueTooth) LED
- WingsLedOff_BT_on turns off only the green but the blue LED still can blink
WingsLedOff (4 kB)
saman-cz: Are you willing to add some option to WingsNotify for turning of the LED?

Nope
Btw: smartmadsoft.com is your website?

yup

Great !!

Turn the XDA IIi lights off

I beleieve there is registry settings to turn off the 2 service indication lights. in the IIs.
Does anybody know the correcty settings for the XDAIIi? If at all possible?
Thanks
The blue one is BlueTooth 's light. Turn BT off to turn that blue one off.
The green one is Radido 's light. Turn FlightMode on to turn that green one off.
if this is not what you are looking for, then sorry, I don't know..
Thanks but that is not what I mean.
I want to disable the lights altogether, as I don't like them at night advertising my PDA to any would be mugger.
As I said previously you could do it in the Blue Angel registry and I'd like to know if this is possible on the Alpine, because it has different registry settings to BA.
You can turn off the LED, but it will also turn off the vibrate as well. Some tweak software (for Blue Angel, Magicial & HX4700) enable you to do so, as for manually edit the registry, I am not too sure.
Thanks for the tip, do you have the name of the software tool please?
RE: LED Lights software
For anyone interested I found a piece of software to turn the LED's off (Turns vibration off at same time)
the software is called 'PhoneAlarm', it's a small program that can be downloaded from web.
The reason I wanted to turn the lights off is at night I do not want to tell everyone I have an expensive PDA on my hip!

Disable Network Coverage LED

The Wing has constantly blinking green LED's that many people find annoying - they blink green alerting you of service status. Living in a big city well, you've always got service so why the need to blink and annoy?
I know this has been done in WM5 to disable the leds. In WM6 this registry key doesn't exist.
[HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\AllLEDMgr]
"Index"=0

Anyone managed to find the new registry key location for the LED's status in WM6?
Thanks.

Kaiser Notification & new sms

The phone is continuously blinking that I have a new sms!
I restarted, same thing!
I went through each and every sms in my inbox/email folders so that if one was "new" it would be read since I entered it.
Still blinking, so I uninstalled it, restarted and re-installed it. Still blinking!!
I then uninstalled it, restarted, installed it this time on my storage card, restarted and same! Still damn blinking.
I even turned off all light notifications and restarted, then enabled blinking, still blinking! I even changed lights but still blinked green and blue!
Wheres the malfunction?
thanks
Green blinks are normal for me, seem to mean the phone is on. And blue blinks means Bluetooth is on. This can be changed to some extent with a program, but I don't recommend it because the initial version of the program strangely doesn't allow setting the blue blink as an indicator of Bluetooth being on, which is SUCH a weird thing, since it's the default not only for this phone but pretty much for all phones with Bluetooth capability.

You are not familiar with this app called Kaiser Notification by Phil Lee.
It allows you to disable lights and then enable lights for different notifications.
So you can set it to blink green (right lamp) for new sms and blue for new email or vice versa.
You can have it blink amber for bluetooth on, red for missed call and green for phone in service.
Or you can turn off all blinking notifications.
Mine is blinking blue even though I have no new sms.
Hi
This problem has been reported before although I've never seen it. What seems to happen is Windows Mobile gets out of sync with the count of unread messages. The program itself just looks at these counts so if it is told by Windows Mobile there are 'x' unread messages it sets the LED flashing.
A fix is discussed here which requires using a registry editor to reset the counts. I'm working a newer version with some extra features and will look to change the code to either include this fix or to keep count of messages itself rather than use the Windows Mobile reported counts.
Hope the above helps.
Regards
Phil
Hi Phil,
Thanks for taking the time to create such a great app and the time to respond to errors. I checked the thread you referred to and it is literally exactly what im going through,e xcept I havent edited the registry yet.
Thanks again!

how do i hangup a call?

how do i hangup a call?
the screen is black and therefor inaccessible after a very short while so i cant use the
on-screen red end-call buttun, and also the button on the right-bottom (phone-icon down)
doesnt work!!! (or sporadically: cant put my fuinger on that yet....)
i tried the tweak where my screen will stay up while having a call, but that one doesnt seem
to work on my rom-version or so? (standard 1.35 dutch version).
is there another (or new) way to keep the screen up while on a call maybe?
please help: this is highly annoying as you probably understand.....
Thanks group!
The (hardware) button on the bottom right should work normally if you want to end a call. It could be that there is just a little leg between pressing it (once) and the phone actually responding to it.
If you want the screen to pop on during a call, just press the power button on top of the phone. Could have figured that out yourself... (even by searching the forum)
what a problem.... lol.. did you assign the hang up button to something else??
thx guys!
no, not assigned to something else.
the power-button is ok yes, thanks. still: the screens display should stay on, right?
thank you!
much appreciated

No the screen light will not stay on when your making a call. Simply put and its been repeated so many times on here now...that when you make a call the diamond light goes off as soon as the sensor senses that its near your ear...the sensor is next to the earpiece...clear little led light. What you can do to get around it...which is what i do is ring the number you want to ring and dont put it next to your ear until you get the vibrate ie when the call connects then put it next to your ear and the light should stay on...well it does on mine but if that dont work then when in a call just press the middle navigation button and that will turn the phone backlight on for you.

Spawn, you're absolutely wrong about the sensor... the screen light goes off regardless of whether you hold the phone against your face or not.. it's a timer..
Older phones like the Touch Cruise didn't have the sensor but yet it turns the backlight off after a few secs...
It's a timer setting in the Registry.
It turns the backlight off to save battery.

i thought spawn is right but i did a very simple experiment.
called my self from my fix phone and live the diamond on the table face up. i answered without picking the phone and after a few sec the light went off.
happyguy82-1, spawn and kukuriku-0
if there is a timer it has a registry and where there is a registry it has to be a "tweak".
btw, another way to have the light back and a safe background for yr ear is simply pull out the pen. you''ll get a note that will not bother anyone because it is not actionable by yr ear lol!
if you'll light on the screen with any other means you and your partner in the conversation will get for sure a few "beeps" when the phone pad is touched by yr ear.

Ermm no it doesnt...i just made a call to test your theory....didnt put the phone to my ear and when i did the light still stayed on. Left the diamond still connected for about a min or so and still the light stayed on...
On my phone i have the TLR version 1 rom running and made a few adjustments in the power settings so dont know if thats made any difference to the light staying on etc.

you are right ...i think i didn't pickup the phone but i was too close, looking at the screen....and that was enough to start the sensor.
checked again keeping asafe distance from the phone and the screen doesn't turn off...

Screen off during phone call tweaks

There are two listed tweaks for preventing the Diamond from turning the screen off during a call. I've done them both, and nothing happens. Are these tweaks confirmed to work for all phones, or just on some? It says the "Sleep" one works on european ROM -- do all European phones have the same rom?
I'm having a simmilar problem... It seems that the screen turns off after a set period of time... I thought that the light sensor was supposed to only shut the screen off when you bring it up to your ear, light gets dull... I have the phone sitting in well lit room and done got near it yet the screen still turns off..?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406094&page=2
give it a shot
I've read that if you remove the stylus while in a call, then the note program comes on automatically, but the screen will also stay on until the call is finished

yes, you are right and this is in my humble opinion the best solution. this way even if u touch with yr ear/cheek the screen no funny noises and no unwanted programs popping up not to mention that this way u have the choice and if you don't need the screen it stays black.
If you want to turn your screen back on during a call just simply press the round center button once and it will turn back on. no need for any hacks.
Thanks for the help
From what I have read, the phone screen should only turn off the screen when you bring it up to your ear/there is low light on the light sensor in the handsets ear speaker... My phone's screen shuts itself off after 3 seconds or so, doesnt matter where light is... If you just disable fastdormant (1 to 0), does the phone still shut itself off after x seconds or does it wait until there is a change in light?
Can anyone confirm/clarify the above???
Also is it possible to reactivate the display once the phone detects a sizeable change in brightness again? From reading the links posted, no one has found a solution for this one yet..?
The screen will not turn off as long as you continue to touch the center button during call. The default setting work fine with me until I need to get information during a call yesterday. The center button touch allow you to use other functions during phone call.
[EDIT] STRANGELY ENOUGH, AFTER ENTERING THE REGISTRY AND JUST LOOKING AT THE VALUE OF THE KEYS HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM BELOW...
[/EDIT]
My problem is that my phone won't go into the sleep mode when calling. Covering the phone doesn't help (I've tested the light sensor, and that still works)
For me this feature is a positive thing so I would like it to work again.
The registry entry for the EnableFastDormant is still on "1". The HTC Phone Skin is loaded (without that skin it doesn't work either).
When searching the forum I come across people who want their screen to stay on... I want the opposite to happen again. Anybody a suggestion?

Check this reg entry as well:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\Sleep - 1
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\LightSensorPollingEnable - 1
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\BatteryTimeoutInCall - 5
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\BatterySuspendTimeoutInCall - 5
Also,
Start - Settings - System
Power
Advanced
Check the following:
Turnoff Backlight if device is not used for 30 Sec
Turn off Device if not used for 40 sec
All the best
Note: After changing Registry Entries.. (if you had to).. do a soft reset.

I know... However, it bothers me as it doesn't really show realiability. Why didn't it work in the first place!? I'm experienced enough to know that I didn't do anything to the registry.

Problem with 1.93 ROM
Hey,
I cant seem to get the screen to stay on during a phone call using Asia WWE 1.93 ROM....
I have got BattTimeoutIncall = 0
BattSuspendIncall = 0
Phone\Sleep = 0
EnableFastdormant = 0
but the screen still turns off if i leave the phone sitting on the desk under light exactly when the call time ticks over to 4 sec (0:03 to 0:04)...
Ideas anyone, is this an issue with v1.93 rom?
Thanks.
this works!

This is actually the best option because it turns off the screen when you want to conserve battery life.
So I just press the Center button when I want to see the screen to use the keypad or speakerphone.
Also, I have disabled the phone shade (curtain) by doing this:
Code:
HKLM/Software/HTC/Phone/PhoneLockEnable = 0
