Looking for a HTC universal - Off-topic

I do not know if you guys do not like this sort of post but if you do just say so and I will delete it.
Anyway, I am looking for a HTC universal. I am looking at ebay but I thought I would ask here first if anyone has one they are willing or want to sell.
Keep up the great work on it all. I can't wait to have a mini-linux laptop for my pocket

I have one that I bought on ebay last summer. I fell hard for the Polaris so that's what I'm using now. Anyway, I've been meaning to put it on ebay since I got my new toy but time doesn't allow. As much as I love my UNI, it's too huge for me!!! Just PM and let me know...
By the way, I'm willing to part with all of the units listed in my signature except my two lastest, Nike and Polaris.
Yes, HTC has made me become an addict for their phones... I mean computers that can make calls

Talkin' about Universal, does any one of you know, if i can get the outer panel/cover of my O2 XDA Exec replaced. Is there any such accessory available in market ?

New or Used?

Ok guys, I need a bunch of good opinions real fast like. I'm shopping for a new tilt online. Yea, I'd love to buy a REAL TYTN II but I don't have that kind of money to throw around right now. I figure that you are paying more for a name, some different paint, a camera and that's about it. So an att tilt will just have to do. I can always flash the firmware to the latest htc spec. So, with all that in mind I need to know what I should do. I've been looking on ebay and they have used tilts for around 250-350 dollars. They are all in good condition... they say, and come with everything. I'm thinking about buying one of these "slightly used" ones, assuming they really are just that. OR I can buy a brand new tilt, fresh out of the box for around 400-450 dollars and know that no one else has touched it. Money is kinda tight, but I don't want this breaking on me either, it's got to last a long while. New or used? Appreciate it. SPACE
1) Line breaks are your friend.
2) If you are going to buy used, just make sure you get some kind of warranty to cover you in the event of hardware failure. Squaretrade sells warranty that cover everything short of losing your device, and AT&T offers insurance for $5/mo that will replace lost/stolen devices. Of course you need to be an AT&T customer for that last option.
AT&T is also selling refurb Tilts for $149 right now, but that requires a 2 year contract.
I just love these threads. Why should I buy "x"? The UTLIMATE reason to buy ANYTHING is because "YOU WANT TO!"
If you look at the price, specs, and reviews and it doesn't give you a boner, then you probably will not be satisfied with it. But if looking at the information gets you excited, then you should buy it.
Anything Treo, Myself, or anyone else says is secondary. Only you can look at something and know that is what you want.
jimmy is that post stuck on your clipboard right now? SPDT(same post different thread) the only difference is the name on the last line.
btw i think that is the greatest quote ever
"If you look at the price, specs, and reviews and it doesn't give you a boner, then you probably will not be satisfied with it."
to the op, don't do a refurbished phone with att, my original stopped working and they have sent 5 to me, 3 with broken USB ports, 1 broken screen, and one without a working radio, plus that last one wasn't recognized by my comp if it was in bootloader
I think you should buy both...used and new... and then see which one you like better. Which ever one you do not like, put in in a blender and make a video of it being shreaded and then upload it to YouTube and then we can all watch it. FANTASTIC! THANKS FOR THE THREAD!

dude, I've wanted a phone like this before they even existed, ever since I was a kid watching star trek (old and new), I've had a boner for this phone for ages! My question really is should I buy used and save some money? I don't know because I don't know how reliable the phones can be... so, I thought I'd ask. This is my uber phone fcol! For now anyways...

Same here, with only a few exceptions. Phones however, must be new and free of anyone else's "cooties" before I stick it up to my ear.
NEW NEW NEW, the one year warranty is priceless to me.
alright well I'm probably going to buy a new one but I'm not going to buy it from the att store. 500+ is too much for something that is going to drop in price asap. I'll buy a new one in the box off ebay unless you guys know where I can get one cheaper.

give ur reasons for wanting it and (wasting ur money)
Getting it for free
First of all i am getting either of the device for free
so am not that concerned about the price
Now the reason behind this is that I owned a 2006 IBM thinkpad which i gave to the guy who works in my college workshop
This guy screwed up the laptop and turned it into a stupid peice of crap and now is giving me the choise of these two as a collateral as he cannot pay in cash ( Says his DAD will skin him alive becoz its not the first time he has done something like that ). His dad owns the biggest mobile store in this area and thus he says he can somehow get me either of the device
so plzzzzzzz
give advice
i have gotten myself a new desktop computer so no sweat there
oh if its for free, then yea do wut u want wit too, see it etc wutever, but if it was me i would sell it ad buy a computer or parts to build one or again buy a laptop
htc smart?
If you mean Shift , then I'm stumped. But I love my advantage and would recommend it to anyone, so it's a personal choice, the shift is a bit too big and underpowered for me which is why im getting an EEE900 or an Acer Aspire One to partner with my Athena and my W960i.
Rory
advantage is better
well as you say
i have been through a couple forums and it seems to me that smart(shift) has a better OS??
Is that true??
As for size yes i will too prefer an Advantage
well anyway i will have to w8 till next month so i can get back to my college and get it but thanks for the advice
I am looking forward to it

The shift runs Vista, and a cut down version of WM. The Advantage runs true WM.

Advice for old Tilt

I've upgraded recently from my old AT&T Tilt to the Motorola Backflip. So I now have an extra WinMo phone (with an old Android ROM on the SD card somewhere) that I no longer have to worry about bricking.
Any advice/opinions on some cool things to do with this phone?
Sell it for cash and take your family out for a nice movie or dinner.
HD2 Envy
Maybe eBay would be good way to sell it.
I'm still on my Tilt. It has served me well. I'm ready to upgrade.
A friend at work has the HD2, and it is great. But, I'm pretty married to the AT&T network, at least for now. And the HD2 unlocked would be expensive to get, and it wouldn't work on 3G
The version coming later in the year for AT&Tm from what I understand will run Winmo7, and I have no interest in a locked OS.
So then maybe Android, but it's not quite there yet for me.
So, hopefully the Tilt will last a while longer for me.
Appreciate the responses. The eBay thing would work if I felt that the phone was in good enough shape to resell. Unfortunately, the keyboard doesn't work well (have to press the buttons just right and sometimes 2x). It's a refurb that was sent to me to replace my original N.I.B. unit and it's never worked as well as the first. So I'm really looking for some kind of fun project to do with it. Whether that means using it as just a PDA with WiFi or installing some flavor of Linux or taking it apart and using the parts for something cool. That sort of thing.
I know there's some pretty crafty people here - bring it on!
P.S. Failed to mention that the phone is jailbroken already. Don't remember which ROM I installed last on it.
I always keep phones and they tend to end up as ornaments so don't think i'm best person to respond but...
Sat Nav\MP3 Player\Retro Arcade Game Player
Or get your head in the kitchen and don't worry about bricking it
hahaha he said jailbroken.

[Q] where to find limited edition back covers?

Hi all,
Interested in purchased a NS limited Edition back cover for my NS.
Wouldn't mind if it is a knock-off, as long as it is a high quality product.
Looked on ebay and found nothing.
Anyone got any links that I can purchase one?
Thanks
Heeter
Sameee id like one too.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Anyone???
Thanks
Heeter
Hmm, not sure about an official source for these. But my phone actually came with the limited edition (with the little Android logos all over it, right?).
I didn't really like it, and was able to buy a warranty-replacement original cover. I have one of the Android covers right now sitting on my desk that I wouldn't mind getting rid of. PM me if you want to try and work something out.
That actually makes me wonder if Samsung's warranty support stocks any of the Android logo covers. You guys might try calling in and giving that a shot too. Make sure to tell them you want a warranty replacement for your current cover though, otherwise they'll just tell you they have none for sale and to get lost :]
EDIT: PM cheerfully received! I'm assuming this means that my Android logo back cover will, very shortly, no longer be available.
PM sent, Bro.

I would LOVE to get my hands on one of these if any friendly T-Mo/Samsung/hooked up people would be willing to part with one. Please, please, please someone let me know if you have one available and tell me what I need to do for it.
Same here...I rock a naked Nexus w/InvisiShield and would LOVE to show off that wicked backside cover. Thanks in advance...
I'd just like to reiterate my edited post to indicate that I no longer have a limited edition back cover. I sent it out to Heeter pretty much right after I posted.
I don't mean to sound rude, but I've gotten numerous PMs by people who apparently didn't bother to finish reading my post and it's a little out of hand.
Again, it's no longer available. Sorry :[
Maybe Heeter will sell you the one he bought

No way, hanging on to this one, big time!
But I do know how you feel, sosquidtaste, I put my car up for sale last week, and I fully described the car in detail in the ad, and they still ask me if it has the feature or that feature when they call.
Read the whole thing!!!
Heeter
Can I get a pm also?
i would love a different back to change and show off... if anyone has one please pm me
I guess no one is going to sell me one of these

HTC One - Buy it now or wait? Ubuntu touch?

Hey there
So, my HTC 8x is about to die, I guess, and I am looking for a new phone. With Ubuntu touch and all comming up, I think the HTC One is the best piece of hardware out there currently (also I love the design). The only thing I don't like about it is the price... it's still around 450€ where I live.
So, me, never paying attention to price developements, was wondering if it makes any difference if I buy it now, or wait until "The All New One" comes out.
Also can anyone give me an update on the Ubuntu touch developement progress for the One?! - I only find very contradictory comments on the Internet - some say, it's almost done, others claim it will never happen.
Or do you say the One is crap and I should go for another phone? I really want to try Ubuntu touch, so that's one of my priorities, next to "flagship-hardware"

I have the HTC One and it's great.
However, if you're looking for something at a lower price, why don't you check the Nexus 5? It's for sure the best value for money.
I think it's also better for unofficial development (even if I can't complain with the One).
As fas as I could find, it's better supported by Ubuntu Touch (but never tried).

Bro, the HTC One is an AMAZING handset and my personal favourite of 2013. The speakers and design and build quality are lightyears ahead of the Nexus 5. But, the 2014 edition of the One will be released on the 25th of March. I say that the updated One would be something you should definitely wait for.
Regarding Ubuntu Touch, Canonical isn't really doing much at the moment. I guess that once they release a phone with Ubuntu Touch, the OS will be ported to the One. There is a port for the One. It lacks connectivity though
Thanks
I know the One is an awesome piece of Hardware the Nexus 5 not so much, a friend has it, and it feels really cheap.
I will for sure not be going to buy the "The All New One" - I bet it's going to be even more awesome, but I'm not willing to spend 650€ on a new phone...
What I was actually wondering is, if anyone knows how the release of the new One will affect the One's price - I have never payed any attention on price-developenemts, and so I'm asking you And I don't mean used deviced, but new ones from Amazon or something...
(Also does anyone use The One without Google? I do use google mail, calendar and contacts, but I don't want them to know about every step I make...)
