How can I remove the today app tray at the bottom - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I have some running apps that for some reason show an icon on the today page at the bottom, any idea how to remove them?
thanks

Bump, been looking for the answer as well.

I finally found the answer. But to do it, I also removed the soft keys on the home page.
PMC Today Shrink is the app I used

Hi!
I'm looking for a similar solution!
But I don't want remove my softkeys!
Can you help me?
Thanks in advance,
Federico

when using the shrink app the soft keys still are there you can access them by pressing the hard keys below where the soft keys were

start -> settings -> Today -> Items tab -> Uncheck HTCHomeplug
hope it helps.

Changing left Ok Button

Hi,
here HKLW\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\... I could find my hardware buttons and I was able to remap them. But I'm missing the left OK button which is located on the left side of the kaiser.
Does some know how I can change this button ?
Cheers Wolle
I don't know if it's possible to change this via the registry, but with the tool AE Button Plus it is possible:
http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php
I've already changed the left OK button to an ESC button with this tool.

I've heard about that tool, but isn't it running all the time in the background to handle all ? I do not want to loose ressources, so I prefer changing the registry.

I like built in solutions as well, but I have to say that the Kaiser has plenty of memory. I don't think it will phase it.
That said, I don't run that application so chalk this post up as useless...
Later, Lew
For the record, SPB Pocket Plus can also handle changing this or any button to anything that you want. I have kept the OK button as an OK button, but I can now press and hold the OK button to Close the app.

I don't need a lot of added functions, but I would love the ability to go "back a level in menus"
Maybe its I am new but can find no reference to the ability.
Can anyone help?

Not sure if you are running stock or some other mod, if you are rooted you can get the Button Savior app or Softkeys app. both present the standard android keys on the screen for you to use.
I will take a look at softkeys.

I ended up using Button Savior, because its got the option of having the button displayed permanently (unless you "x" it out).
You can swipe to the left on the taskbar to go back.

CM7 "N" Key / Back - best options?

I'm not running any extra virtual key apps... What I want to do... is have the physical N button do a BACK on 1 click, and HOME on 2 clicks... Or normal click BACK, and LONG click HOME...
I've looked through some of the settings - can't tell how to set that up (if at all).
Any thoughts?
Why not use the soft keys built in to CM7?
Sometimes the status bar is gone... either because something causes it to hide, or because I hide it.

The best setup so far (imho), is to set the soft keys show up at volume button press.
Since the power button or N button tend to fail sometimes.
By doing that, you can hide soft keys with no fear and just presse volume button to bring they back to the screen, flawless.
@blauson
I hate doing that because if I need to change volume I need to leave the app, go into settings, and change it manually. :/
Somehow my "n" button got turned into a back button. Weird. Would much rather haave it be a menu button. but I dont even know how it changed in the first place! lol

I run phiremod so it's in: settings, phiremod settings, tablet tweaks, choose unhide button

Really? Then I will have to see what's up, last time I was always running around the settings and stuff to change the volume.

I second on that.
I'm running nightly 131.
No problem to change the volume neither to show up soft keys.
I use the N key to cancel full screen. Its more comfortable to use than the volume keys for me.
Hrm.. that would work... Where do I configure what the N key does?

This is how I've been doing it as well, but sometimes it brings me all the way back to home after showing the status bar. Do you ever experience that? Any tips if so?
Regardless, I like my volume buttons to be... well... volume buttons.
You could use button savior to have a never-hide home only option button located on the very right side by the N button, leaving that slot unused on adw launcher and treat it as a "permanent" home button.

That's precisely why I haven't used the n button - if there is a way to avoid it, that would be fantastic!

The best thing I ever did was install zMooth. Its a gesture bar that lets you draw the buttons. Almost like my old pre.

Looks interesting, but the only gesture I can manage to make it recognize is home. Any special tricks to this?
Rodney
It has always worked well for me. Have you used the nook screen recalibrate app? Before I ran that I had a really hard time getting the lower part of my screen to recognize my touch. I think there are some sensitivity settings in the zMooth app you can play around with too.

no soft key, app button on cyanogenmod 10.1 on touchpad

I looked at a lot of threads already and can't seem to find a solution. Looks like someone messed up the settings on my touchpad and I can't get the three soft keys and taskbar on the bottom to appear . The button on the top right to go to the app menu is gone also.
There is no way to get onto the setting menu unless I restart the touchpad and use the "low battery" button to get to Battery on settings. Is there anyway to get onto the setting menu with no soft key / app menu ? If I can just access the setting without restarting every time can I can try to fix the problems.
Did you go to system, buttons and layout

Not really sure what you mean by you can only get into settings with the low battery button. But there is an app in your app drawer called settings that takes you to the settings. Also, you could have expanded desktop on so long press the power button and see if you have the option there. If not go into settings and then "system" and look at your expanded desktop options.

Hold down a finger on the home screen, then go into Launcher Settings, see if you can enable the Dock. May have been disabled by mistake.
If that is not available, go into Apps and then access Settings from there.

Menu button (do you miss it)

Just found out a little tip which many of you might already know. If you are missing the menu button, especially for outdated apps like the xda app, you can still access it. The note 4 replaced the menu button with recent apps button, but if you long press the recent apps button you will get to the menu function.
That is all. Have a good day.

Thanks for that. I was using a friends S5 last night and that was driving me mad. My note 4 is at home waiting for me to open the package
If they completely removed it, then yes but holding task switcher for a couple of more seconds then it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that I have to hold the back button every time to access Multi window bar as app switcher only has opened apps.

You are welcome. It would have been a nightmare had it gone forever. Not all applications have that on screen menu button.
Brilliant, I missed that button... nice to know it's still there
Need a way to reverse the functionality from long and short press
Nope don't miss it. I don't even use the long press.

Its not about missing it just because you prefer to press the physical button. There are many apps which don't have the soft menu button. For example, go to Google Now and try to change the settings, but don't long press. Good luck with that.

There is. There is no way Google didn't implement soft menu button when they themselves are pushing on screen nav bar and soft menu buttons. Open Google now and it's bottom right corner. Might need to scroll all the way down. That might be the only annoying thing about it but it's there and very easy to access.

I agree with what your saying. But you've picked 2 really bad examples. You can get to menu without menu button in xda!
I am used to Android tablets which don't have the menu button anyway, so I don't miss it on the phone.

People should have read the manual by now...
