lcd replacement - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I know i got my ass tore up over the last post but, i cannot find a good lcd replacement guide or htc 8925 disassembly guide? anyone know where to locate one? Thank you..

I guess you didnt learn from the other thread you started..... what the proper thing to do is to search. Use Google or use any means, but search for TILT REPLACEMENT SCREEN and other similar terms.
Nobody is here to spoon feed anyone else. If you have a question, I am about 95% sure it has already been asked AND answered.
This should help you alot!

Whats with the attitude?
I understand no one is here to hold anyone's hand but what is with all the attitude? I thought xda-developers was here to help people (even those who aren't so tech-savy). Give the guy a break for God sakes and stop being such a elitist community.

Why does no one help newbies?

i posted something for help and never got a reply, also i have went back alot of pages and a lot of people who are new and posted for help have received none what so ever. why is that?
chris
It might be the nature of the question or not enough info to allow someone to compose an answer without asking a question in response.
I'm hardly an old-timer around here and have found the site quite helpful and have gotten response to my questions.
its fairly easy to ask for more info tho? but it was just a question i wasnt getting on anyones back or that. i am a total newbie at these phones and need as much help as i can get to use it to its full potential
chris
I'm new here too. Asked a question, got an answer. Look at your question and two things trike me. Its a bit vague and its something I expect you could find out by searching these forums and the rest of the net.
I find that if you help yourself - by finding out as much as you can first, maybe trying a few things and having them fail - then people are far more willing to help you.
General rule of the board No.79231 - "Don't reply to anyone who spells theme incorrectly" ;-)
Seriously, it's probably because you asked a question that has been asked so many times that it is obvious you have not shown any effort by doing a search yourself.
Tip try a search for corporate AND install. I'm not sure if it is exactly the same method as on the Alpine and I'm not going to search for you I'm afraid.
yea i understand that guys, and i have searched and found a load of stuff just do not have a clue what to download theres that many.

See first thing I noticed - everything you asked in this post can be found by just searching the forum. Themes [I assume you do mean themes] can be found by a simple google search. How to install on the XDA[is that a phone?] can be found in the users manual. Upgrading the ROM might be something you wanna come back to once you know your phone a little better. Me, Get ratty? Perish the thought. Me getting ratty would be like me saying something like, oh, I don't know - "Listen you little twit!!! Try the fricken search button!!!" But I didn't say that. I tried to offer you some help. Take it or leave it!!!

1. I take it you mean the ROM. You don't wanna delete the OS. You wanna upgrade it. I use the MDA/Wizard so I'm not to sure about the upgrade for the mini but I'm sure someone has cooked one by know. Again. Just search for "Mini s Rom upgrade."
2. Once you find the upgrade, it'll tell you how to install it. Read that post carefully. No since bricken the thing.
3. Search for themes. I use www.pdagold.com and a few others.
4. No Chris, how would I know what would interest you? I mean I good but mind reading isn't something I've mastered just yet - close but still not 100%. PDA gold offers some freeware. Check them out...

People do help newbies, and that's part of the job. I'm getting worried by the number of people saying that we don't help newbies. We were all one once, but for God, I suppose (I guess that's what he was doing for the first 5 days, blinging up his phone!)
Anyway, I don't know anything about the o2 stuff. I've got an o2 phone, but basically reset my phone before it installed anything from the extended rom. This basically means, extended slowness. You can then pick and choose what to install to customise your phone, resulting in a faster phone.
Theme and things: I suggest you have a look through this thread for ideas
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=44560&highlight=start
Many people recommend Wisbar, a customisation program to change the look of the phone. It's heavy, uses a lot of memory, but looks good.
Have a look through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=57926&highlight=software
There are many similar threads on the board, but my recommendations are, install SmallMenu, gsfinder, (and for me, VJOkButt). Anything else is cosmetic or optional, these 2/3 are essential.
V
1. to remove it try doing a hard reset, then boot up in coproate mode and enter 0506.Failing that to temporarily remove it go to start->settings->remove programs and remove O2ActiveUI. This will only make it go until your next hard reset. If you want to get rid of it another way try removing the file from the startup by: fileexplorer /windows/startup remove the program called o2 startup and do a soft reset.
2.no prgrams needed
3.you need to get wisbar advance forst, then get the xp theme on that and it should work
4. get a program called spb pocket plus, great little app and tcmp movie player too is good after that it's down to personal preference
Try www.freewareppc.com for lots of freeware.
hahaha
1. How to install Windows XP on my Wizard?
2. Where to download 3mpx patch for my camera?
3. And I need FM-radio patch too. May be it in AKU 3.5?
4. How to double screen resolution to 640x480?
5. And finally: how to install ASQ* Filter for this forum?
*ASQ = Another Stupid Question

Sorry about your Feelings Chris.
I felt the same a few days back when I joined this forum.
But People who scorned at me were probably those who had never even heard about the forums I am Moderating on; (these forums have nothing to do with XDA developement however) But I can assure them that had they posted anything "seemingly stupid" on those forums I would have gladly helped them.
Vijay Was extremely helpful in explaining to me the way the world runs and the Way THIS forum Runs (excuse the caps).
He came to my rescue and set things right about it and I am glad that he is here as are some other members who have been very much helpful.
This forum is a Great place for newcomers as well as for experts.
At first if you dont understand things u might feel confused; but later on as you go thru the posts......things become clear.
At least they did for me.
I have read your posts and what you write was, what I felt just 2 weeks back when I joined, Only I took it all in my stride.

So in a way you are better that me Chris !!
Please keep on searching for your answers here on xda-dev and I am sure you shall go a long way.

I love this forum; I refresh all day, I wrote an RSS scraper for it, and post randomly all through the day. I try to keep the board as enjoyable for others as it is for me. I don't like slapping anyone down, because who am I? But sometimes, I think people forget that we're all people with brains and familes and feelings, not just meaningless posts on a forum.
So really, I mean it, if anyone gives anyone a hard time, PM me and I'll see if it's a legitimate complaint. If I can help, I'll probably end up answering a post at some point anyway, because I can't stop
Again jeasbe, apologies for sounding curt with you before, but as you can see from the above thread, people were getting out of hand and that irritated me!

now whats the point of that? Who nominated you the xda-police?
Seriously the majority of your posts are telling people to search, and scolding people for posting a question thats been answered before.. why don't u be productive and head them in the right direction or just not post at all!
how is that not being productive. Don't we send our children to school for several years so that they may be educated? Don't we want them to be educated so that they may succeed on their own, without leaning on other peoples knowledge? Aren't the teachers of these children being productive?
All we are doing is trying to drill into everyones head to use the search function.
I say NotATreoFan FTW!!!!!

I can understand if someone 'bumps' their post if they don't get a answer within a reasonable amount of time. But it's just plain rude to create a new thread 20 minutes after the first one.
As far as being the "xda-police", well that is just stupid. I do not scold people. I simply remind them that search is there for a reason. I have often said that regardless of what my title says (since its purely by post count), I consider myself only a few steps above noob status... since my Tilt is only my 5th WM device I've owned.
The difference is that I know how to search (on any site, not just XDA) for what I am looking for.
I didn't mind the noob posts of just a few months ago. They asked their question, however redundant, and usually got an answer pretty quick. However, what we are dealing with now if a special breed of n00b. Some of them go as far as starting their post with "i'm a n00b, and can't be bothered to search" and then think that just because they put "noobie question" in the subject line, we'll forgive their ignorance and answer their question post-haste.
Anyway, back to my original point. Clearly my first post was meant as a joke. You seem to be the only person who didn't get it.
Sure, let's continue arguing about how bad people are and how noobs won't search, when it'd take like 20 seconds and 5% of the effort of arguing to just answer the damn question.
But that'd be boring right? Besides, don't you want to feel all smart and "guru" by "pwning noobs" and showing them how stupid and lazy they are? That makes us feel so much better in the end. One's gotta self-assure somehow, right?

HTC Diamond ROM

Hi Guys
i need your help i just bought an HTC Diamond yesterday and i am dissapointed, the device has a number of issues 1 is that the touch flo is not smooth and there is about 3 to 5 secs lag time, second is that the battery life is crap. anyways i read on the net that an updated ROM can fix these issues, the current ROM VERSION i am using is 1.35.456.3 WWE, please let me know if there are newer ROM versions and where i can download them,p.s. will ROM upgrade actually fix the battery life issues as well as memory leak. I really hope that the touch pro doesn't have all these issues.
This isn't the correct forum. If you had actually read the rules you agreed to when you signed up, you might have noticed that one said SEARCH BEFORE YOU POST! So if you had done this, you would have found what you're looking for.
Normally, under these circumstances, I would direct you there, but seeing as it's called Diamond ROM Development, I'll let you find it yourself
you can find all your answers in my signature link
to answer your question without the entire search first part:
1. yes there is a newer one
2. look in the diamond development rom section

Has it ever occured to you that one might be in a hurry to solve a big issue, if you can't help a new comer and direct them corrctly then u should keep your comments to your self. I mean we are humans and we all make mistakes but that doesn't mean you come out and bite people's heads off. Thats the problem with the world today instead of stopping and helping u choose to be agressive and blame them, anyways i am happy to say that other more thoughtful members of this forum helped me. Thanks..
Well, I don't really want to flame your posts but Rorydaredkign is right maybe not the right way to say it
The information you seek are just 2 clicks away from the button "new topic" and a little search might help find anything you need but obviously you did not take a bit of your time to browse the forum...
As a new comer, do not take anything for granted!
@original poster
If you can get 1.37 to load up and apply some of the settings in the Diamond Tweaks sticky you will find things a lot better.
I would stay away from tweak number two in that thread though as most people have found it renders their handset inoperable and have to hard reset. However, as you will have to hard-reset to upgrade anyway you might want to give it a go.
I agree with you about the aggression. I understand the power of search but when you're new, a string of posts telling you to use the search, when it would have been quicker to answer the question, is unnecessary - and not really community spirited.
Sorry to flame, but in about 3 weeks, this forum has degenerated from a place of discussion to a place where noobs just ask and don't search. And thats slightly annoying.
But, I'll say no more.

Well for one, I know how to search
And the thing is, like I said, normally I would search myself, then post a link, but when there's an actual forum called Diamond ROM Development, I couldn't be ****ed.
And you say its posts like this which have made me senior, but you're wrong.
Granted, I tell people to search, and I should probably just say nothing, but before, people have told me off for describing in detail something which can be found by a 2 word search or in the wiki.
So don't just think I go round telling people they're noobs, I don't usually, But here I have.
Rory
Peace, people! This forum isn't the right place for this kind of discussions
ok guys since i started this i will make an attempt to end it,
"rorydaredkign"- i understand ur frustration and i am sure your senior member due to more positive reasons than knowing how to search, but it is wrong to bite people's heads of just because they do not know something even though it is two clicks or one click away, i mean take an example ur in a new place u have never been and when u ask for directions people bit ur head off and tell u why not get a map. You should put ur self in my shoes, i just purchased the diamond its expensive and its not working propoerly so i was freaking out and was trying to get help as quickly as possible, if i had time on my hand i would sit and search and go through the whole forum. There is no need to go around calling people names we are all mature here and name calling is something we all left back in junior school, by you going around the forum and calling people noobs just displays u as an unprofessional character, This forum is set up so that people everywhere can assist each other and share the knowledge, so please lets burry this hatchet and try our level best to maintain strong good community. Let us leave this issue behind us and move on with what is really important. Not that there is a need to applogise but i feel i should applogise for asking a question when i could have searched and found what i was looking for. Having said that i still enjoy this forum i think its fantastic and there is alot to learn from everyone here, thanks to everyone for their contribution.

More like we worked for the knowledge and rarely had someone hold our hands through learning.
So just because you had it hard so lets make it hard for the newbies. That doesn't work for me. I appreaciate the Wiki feature but it isn't the answer to all things or this forum would be dead quiet.
This isn't personal. This thread has 4 posts and 70 views. What does that tell us? In my view it means:
20 newbies looked into it because of similar doubts hoping to find an answer that didn't come thru.
20 senior members looked into it and gave a crap about this newbie and didn't even bother to answer
20 variate members just browsed through it without any particular interest or knowledge to answer
the remaining 10 views are probably you, me and Gamergee
Something is wrong here.
You can download the HTC Service Manual that I have uploaded here:

It has a lot of things and how to disassemble the Kaiser.

I mean no disrespect, but the majority of people on here are very helpful. But I wish some people on these forums would stop being so cryptic with their "I know something you don't know" posts & assuming everybody else is as clever as them. That's why forums get bloated with crap & make it hard work to find what you're actually looking for.

Cryptic answers actually serve a purpose. Rather than spoon feeding the same information over and over to different people, it encourages them to go do their own research. Usually the 'cryptic' answer contains the keywords necessary for somebody to do a search for themselves.
I find it more effective to piece together information that i've found myself than to have it explained in a way that doesn't always make sense to me. It's the difference between being in Primary school and University. In the latter you're expected to do your own work.

In a sense, I do agree with you on that. Like I said, most of the people are very helpful with their answers. Perhaps cryptic was the wrong word. Terse would have been a better choice of word. The problem for me being a noob to Android is that there is so much misinformation around that to find what you are actually looking for, you have to sift through so much crap first. This could be avoidable if people didn't just give the stock answer "search for it".
Sorry, I'm just a pedantic fool. I don't want to be spoon fed, but I do want a relevant quality answer. I'm no genius, but when I answer a post, I try to be as helpful & unambiguous as possible. I just expect the same.

On one hand I agree with the op that sometimes people can give very vague and condescending answers which can be frustrating for a new user or someone with an issue they need to address asap.
Its never a good thing to dismiss someone as a stupid n00b and not try to help them out.
On the other hand, I think it is beneficial to give someone a push in the right direction and not just spoonfeed them an answer.
When I first came to XDA I knew NOTHING, it was only through being encouraged to read and research my problems that I got to the point where I was able to help others with theirs.
There is also the argument that as this is a development site and not just a one stop shop for answers to questions which Google can answer for you 95% of the time, if you are not able/willing to search and learn then your in the wrong place.

I dont mind helping step by step but always read all instructions and you should be good and if you have issues along the way then ask dont ask me to find stuff for you search and type out steps that are already on this forum.
Ill do that every once in awhile but must be contacted and them understand it takes time to write out a new manual

Is this thread serious? It's a forum...this stuff happens on forums. Live with it.
You can't possibly think that this thread will change anything?

I mean no disrespect, but the majority of people on here are very helpful. But I wish some people on these forums would stop being so cryptic with their "I know something you don't know" posts & assuming everybody else is as clever as them. That's why forums get bloated with crap & make it hard work to find what you're actually looking for.
Just get to the point. No more half-answers please!

What I did when I joined this forum (and before) was too not only use the search feature but search other sites, Google it, also I checked other forums and blogs. Articles from Lifehacker, the unlockr, other tech blogs...and you know what, it DID take what seemed like forever to get the SDK set up, find the right drivers ect. But you know what DIDN'T HAPPEN, I didn't get one terse or rude answer, I didn't get flamed and I learned alot more in the process. I can root phones and flash ROMs with complete confidence now. I'm not saying my way is the right way but when I did/do ask questions I get a much better response because I've got some knowledge under my belt.

I agree somewhat to the OP, as I was a n00b once too. It was frustrating figuring out issues on my own and reading threads for hours. But I lurked for months when I first started modding seems and setting up QPST and stuff when I first started "hacking" my old motorolas. I eventually got a grasp on things and have been trying to help out where I can.
I can honestly see how old timers and those experienced in all different forms of modding these devices can get terse and not want to just spoon feed the info to the new users. The new users need to learn how to search, follow instructions and get well read on the fundamentals before assaulting the developers with questions answered earlier in threads or in the wiki.
It's a two way street, but I can assure you that it is worth the journey. You can't just take offense when someone when someone doesn't answer directly or refers you to the search function is short answered. And devs/experienced users aren't trying to offend you. Every person here just needs to get along!
