Cool! 2gb MicroSD card WITH USB thumbdrive adapter only NOW $17 free ship buy.com - Mogul, XV6800 Accessories

I found a kingston 2gig MicroSD card with a USB thumbdrive adapter. So Cool! I can stick the MicroSD card in the thumbdrive, plug it into my PC, copy all the files onto it, take the MicroSD out of the thumbdrive, and stick it, full of music and files, directly into my phone.
No more activesyncing to my phone's main memory then dragging to the MicroSD card!
Anyway, this seems like the perfect solution if you need a 2 gig MicroSD and a super easy way to fill it up. Kingston is a good brand and $19 shipped is a decent price for 2 gigs including the adapter. Go for it!
$19 at Meritline link
I realize that 2 gigs may be too small for many of you, but it sure is a memory upgrade if you are still using that tiny 512meg card that comes with it!

I got a pqi one with a reader like that and its awesome on the keychain

I have PNV 2gb one that came with a SD adapter for about that much.

I don't have a SD slot, thus the USB adapter.
Now even cheaper thanks to slickdeals.net:

Memory card advice wanted

Hi,
I've just received my TyTn II and am interested in getting a memory card for it.
It takes Micro SD but what is the max size that it/WM6 will work with?
Also, what is Micro SDHC? and can I use it?
I've seen a 2GB MicroSD card for £7.55 del. but I probably want a bigger card.
I intend using it for tomtom - photos - some games and apps and of course data file storage.
TIA
Bryan
I picked up a SanDisk 8GB via Amazon for under $70 USD (minus shipping).
http://www.amazon.com/Sandisk-Micro...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1204123335&sr=8-1
I have a San Disk 8gig in mine and it's great.
Cheers, Paul
Thanks for the quick replies,
As you are using 8GB cards they must be MicroSDHC? AFAIK MicroSD cards that hold 4GB or greater are all MicroSDHC.
Any chance you can pop your card and see?
The 8Gb SanDisk that I ordered is MicroSDHC (a.k.a. 2.0).
The HC stands for High Capacity and it is indeed for cards above 4 GB.
The device for the memory card has to be HC capable and lucky for us, our Kaiser is
Every micro sd card also has a class (2, 4 or 6 I believe). The higher the number, the better transfer rates (and response time), but also the bigger the cost.
I currently have a 6 GB (class 4) micro SD card. I'm going to wait a while to buy a new one until cards with about 16 GB or 32 GB (or something like that) of memory come around.
I'm also running the sandisk 8gb SDHC card. Its speedy and
works flawlessly. I got it on amazon for about 80 USD
The only thing i could recommend after having a card this big
is a good card exporting program on your phone so not
limited by activesync
Thanks for the help.
The 2GB MicroSD card at £7.55 seems very good value but I'll wait for an 8GB MicroSDHC deal to come along.
Hopefully a faster variant too..
Is it possible to connect the phone to a PC and have it recognised as a large memory stick? I know some phones do and then you can just explore them like a disc drive.
I will setup activesync at home for normal installation etc. but wondered if I could access the SD card whilst in phone from the PC/USB a la memory stick whilst at work.
yes, you can access the SD card like it's a memory stick by exploring. However, the transfer rate isn't as good as a USB connection with a stick. The 8GB SanDisk comes with a USB reader so that the card can actually be used in the reader just like a stick. Fastest transfer rate I've ever gotten with my phone
I'm using an 8Gb SanDisk MicroSDHC.
Works great!
I have a 8gb and it is fine.. but if you wait until next month you can pick up a 12gb and really have some storage space.
'im using a sandisk 6GB MicroSDHC for about 50canadian$

Talk about a deal i just purchased two 8gb for $70 because they were used and only came with one adapter.
I got my 8 gb sandisk sdhc card on ebay - another place to look for a great deal. Just be careful about the track record of the seller. I love the 8 gb card, but will be looking for a 16 gb card when they come out.
i saw the 16GB ones out anyone tried if it will work with the kaiser???
I run a Kingston 8GB SDHC in mine without problems (brought it over from my SDHC enabled Orbit), which I bought for £25 about 8 months ago from mobymemory. Never had any problems with it at all.

16GB Micro SDHC work with my Kaiser?

just wondering if it will, as there are some for £55 and all my mp3s on here will be ace!
read that it only takes 8GB?
thanks
in theory it should work since it handles any microsdhc card up to 32gb.it hasn't been tested for any cards over 8gb since none are buyable yet.
And those new 16GB micro sd cards should have been for sale somewhere in June or July.
But of course its August now and still no sign of them...
usually waiting longer is better so the products are perfected more and tested thoroughly.i don't think any of us want a card that goes totally corrupted within the first 6 months of usage
Well the second somebody purchases a 16G7 micro sd card plz do tel how it feels and of course..DOES IT WORK.
We are able to, most likely able to use up to 32gb...so 16 should work like a charm...for me the 8 gig doesn't seem like enough and I don't wanna ever buy another card again for my kaiser and future devices...I got my 2gig micro sd card for $10 on craigslist brand new..and it came with a very sick tool...a micro sd usb adapter..one of the best accessories for the kaiser or any micro sd ppc device. I use it all the time and every comp has a usb slot so its compatable with everything, its great for swapping cabs and documents quick.
l...So anyway plz whoever gets over an 8 gig sdhc card like a 16g plz tell us if it works and how fast it transfers files and all that.
where do you get them ?

I don't know if there are rules against posting sales but I noticed this sale on amazon. They have a 32gig microsd for $13.99 and one of those itty bitty "I would lose it in a second" flash drives 32gig for $20.71. For those people buying things for there newly acquired OTG cables
There are a couple of other things on sale as well

All the reviews telling about poor writing performance on Ultra SDHC cards.
for example by Wei
"Second test was performed on Canon T3i DSLR with the same 3 SD cards tested above. In this test I set my DSLR to burst mode and TV mode with 1/50 sec. Within 30 seconds interval, I want to see how many pictures in RAW format my camera can shoot.
Results:
Sandisk Ultra 32GB class 10 30MB/s, 24 shots.
Sandisk Extreme III 4GB class 6, 34 shots
Transcend 16GB class 10, 33 shots."
I do not understand the purpose of this post... We don't have SD slots? Or am I mistaken? Can we open these babies up and slide in sd cards to replace the 16gbs?

If you root the device then you can use a OTG cable to connect flash drives, memory card readers etc. you need to be rooted, keep that in mind.

Compact OTG Storage option - & well priced

Was in the process of sourcing parts to follow up suggestions in other threads for making a small external micro SD card reader, and came across these. The memory is fixed at 8, 16, or 32 GB but the price is less than I've been paying for the micro SD cards!
http://www.scan.co.uk/search.aspx?q=otg
From prior experience with the supplier, although currently available pre-order only the actual items will be on the shelf soon. Certainly be getting a couple, and find a different project to play with.

Thanks for that link, I got the 16G version because of the direct plug into the device.. I've been wanting to try out F2FS and you gotta nuke the whole SD to do it, and I didn't really want to transfer it all over USB again. I think this will be much easier to deal with, and faster to transfer files back and forth from the device and get it back up again after formatting.
I'm planning to purchase either
the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive, or
the Kingston DT microDuo, or
the Transcend JetFlash 380S.
They are very similar to each other. I wonder whether they differ on speed etc.
Any reviews based on experience with these or other dual USB drives are very much welcome.

Dunno, but the Kingston linked in my post works great for both USB and MicroUSB on my G2 and N7.

Love it. I now keep all of my TWRP backups and Titanium backups on it. Frees up gobs of space and makes it so easy (and fast!) to transfer files to and from my PC.

I'm glad I got the 32g for just a few bucks more, my N7's whole SD card and a few TWRP's from each device and it's about full Although I could nuke the SD card backup now and free up a bunch of space.
It's a nice device, but almost too small. I'm afraid to carry it anywhere, so I put it in my zip-up earbud case since I carry them with me everywhere.
If you don't want cables or bits that plug in there's another Kingston option 'wireless card reader'

SanDisk 400gb MicroSD

Seems like a perfect partner for the Note 8
http://phandroid.com/2017/08/31/sandisk-400gb-microsd-card
ordered.
The specs for the Note 8 says it's able to take a microSD card up to 256GB. Would a 400GB card even be compatible? Are there any hardware limitations that restrict the maximum size of the external storage to 256GB or will the Note 8 take as much storage as you can shove in it?
My Note 3 was supposed to only handle 64 but it reads my 256 with no problems. If anything you can use externally through the usb c with a card reader...there are some low profile ones on Amazon.
It'll take it—I just ordered the card.
Ever since Note 2 I've been using a 512GB SD card—via a MicroSD—SD adapter, no problems…

How do you mean, standard SD of 512 through usb port or modded with an adapter in the MicroSD slot

That is similar to the adapter I linked...I think the Note 8 will handle the 400GB...if it reads 256 natively and can read drives over 1TB via USB, why not right.

Yep, I would bet my paycheck that it will work with no problem. The manufacturers are always conservative with this and i believe primarily because they do not have the newer cards to test extensively while they are developing a new phone.
When Samsung spec'ed this phone the 400gb sd card was not out in the wild yet so i can understand why..plus since Samsung make their own memory and they don't yet have a 400gb microsd card, why promote a card that you don't yet have? :good:
Gnarly card. Considering it. Though Kinda wanna wait for a price drop.

Tested the card today. took 6 ish hours from start to finish. the program wrote to all sectors,. filling the card up then verified all sectors could be read.
Photos show the capacity when it was formatted on the pc and when formatted in the note8.
bought it direct from Amazon. it was sold and shipped by them, which is the only way I would go when purchasing an sd card of any size off amazon.
Awesome

Why would you write the whole card to test it? You just slowed it down.
Sent from my LGV20 using yo Mama's unlocked bootloader.
Happy to explain
Appreciate your enthusiasm in why i do things.
I did that to test each sector to make sure the card was legit.
The card has since been reformatted in the phone and is working normally
I think the price around $300 is not fair, 100-150 $ is ok
Agree!
I think the price of the note 8 is outrageous! And this is my first ever Sammy device, but one has to pay to play as the tired cliche goes... :crying:
Love how these cards are actually 512gb, but they reserve 112gb for bad sectors etc
