New Driver news - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

On the Dutch website www.tweakers.net they mention that HTC have stated that they will release drivers for couple HTC products, probably kaiser too.
They are saying that it will be out in March.
In the statement they mention the cat and mouse game that have been playing around with HTC and the customers that don't like the performance of the PPC..
Exact link to the site (It's dutch):http://life.tweakers.net/nieuws/51901/htc-directeur-belooft-drivers-voor-geplaagde-toestellen.html
EDIT: They also mention this at www.htcclassaction.org and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359534 on the last few pages

I see by your edit that you have seen the reports are in the thread you mention above.
Discussion continues there.

whats the forum advertising deal?

ok for the 20th time this month i just saw the Nokia N series advertisement on the google ads while reading the forum.
cant you get like a HTC or something PPC related on there?
sites dont choose adds i believe
so if htc or other pocketpc comp's
dont buy google adds you are not likely to see
any otherwise i'd say it would be random

Is that blueline on bottom of your signature an advertisement?
Sure it is. It if all ads like that, I would like to read 20ads per day. It just expressed me.
You're welcome. BTW, how far back do you suggest answering some of these posted problems? See a lot of unanswered ones going way back.

Bad HTC press/publicity

One of the few ways we can effectively fight back against HTC is with the bad press/publicity the whole driver fiasco is creating for them.
It is pretty funny when you sometimes read a blog post / article about some new product of theirs and the first 10 comments underneath the posting/article are negative for HTC and in some way refer to the lack of drivers on the current devices.
I thought we might be able to create even more negative publicity (especially since they did not stick to their word to offer a fix by the end of March).
For that purpose I would like to start this thread.
Please do not post ANYTHING but links to HTC related articles/blog posts/reviews where people can leave their comments.
If you want to discuss this threat, the driver issue or anything else, please start a new thread or post it in some other, already existing threat.
This thread is for links to HTC related articles/blog posts/reviews ONLY!
Thank you.

March is Drawing To A Close, HTC Where Are you?
http://tiltsite.com/2008/03/march-is-drawing-to-a-close-htc-where-are-you/
went through with my 2c, will look in later for more links...
I love my TyTN II, but if i want this phone to last me for over a year I'm gonna want to do more with it, including video intensive applications... I'm already sad over the whole 3 mega pixel camera that takes 5 seconds to shoot a photo... and takes 10 seconds to START recording video..
I bought my Tilt mainly for fun, but I find the 3mp camera to be a heavily used feature now at my job (handy since I don't need a separate camera).. but the video lag for preview's is horrible!
I've posted on every link with bad comments about HTC.
This is a great idea. With enough people doing this we could flood sites with bad talk about HTC.
They just won PC Mag's editor's choice with the Tilt. It'd take a lot of bad press to counteract that.
i've also posted several negative articles on them, see for example the one i've posted yesterday in the General forum.
They are just starting marketing the new HTC Touch

Kaiser update

I may get flamed on the spot, but I thought I should have told you. (I really hope nobody said this before) but according to this site:
http://tweakers.net/nieuws/53372/ht...nested&max=10&niv=0&order=asc&page=2#reacties
(Caution: the site is in Dutch)
the update will improve the graphics issue. The odd thing is, I haven't found it on htcclassaction yet (maybe they haven't updated it, but I thought they would have, considering that they've put a lot of effort into the drivers-issue). So is this bogus or not? Oh yeah, I might also give the url of the site they got the info from:
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/7334.html
I have never really been good in judging if things are bogus or not. So for you here to decide
yeah this has been circulating for a little while now. There is a release due from what i can gather, i cant see it including the updated drivers as they have been too busy with the diamond but it is always nice to hope. Personally i dont believe it but im happy to be suprised if HTC want to do that
this got communicated under the kaiser rom development forum a few days ago i believe ... so yes your post here is redundant. No i am not going to flame you just advise that read around before you post
But, thanks for the update anyway.....

ALL AT&T Tilt Owners Have Been Left Behind

The AT&T Tilt did not recievve a ROM update today. This means no accelerated graphics for us and no WM 6.1. Thank you HTC and AT&T you have all been a big help.

Old news ! Not nice to start a " new " thread for something we had not expected anyway.
Yeah, I know its old news. But even so, a large amount of people do not know this, so its still worth posting.
Do you realize what board you're on? Don't generalize, you have been left behind, not me. I've been running WM6.1 on my Tilt since the winter when it first leaked and have been running the lasted build since Monday.

Everyone here knows this and it is not worth posting as you will find out.
No, I have browsed through some threads and it seemed that a decent amount of people had not realized that only the HTC-Branded devices had recieved the update.
People who read stuff already knew for like a month that the update would probably be only for HTC branded devices, I guess you don't.
Anyways, it doesn't mean there won't be official updates for you, just that your company, whichever it is, will have to customize things first before releasing a rom, especially adding all their bloatware.
Oh, and about accelerated graphics, please, noone got them, it's not that you're a special target.
I know that there were some "fixes" but no drivers, and it has been said that ATT users will get it, just when they get ready to release it after adding all their crap.

I am here to help , what was the question ? I just heard a rant that the mods have said ( continually ) is not appropriate for these forums. If you read the official announcement from HTC when they announced the TYtN upgrade, they said that they had no plans to release an upgrade fer the Tilt in the near future. Why is this rant important to this forum?
What are you talking about denco? This is not even a rant, it is a statement. I did not mean for it to be a rant and I did not mean for people to mistake it as one. I merely meant to inform people that only the branded HTC devices got the update. It appeared as though alot of people had not realized this, or, at least enough for me to post. I can even show you some quotes if you need me too.
Denco, please look up the definition of 'rant'.
htc rom
Just talked to HTC. There is no 6.1 rom from them for the HTC phones (mine is the TYTN II) available anywhere on the globe.

I am not trying to entice the argument here, but i will add couple of things:
a) Most of the "regular" members here at xda already know that the tilt or any other branded version of the tytnII will not be getting the updates. (emphasis on regular).
b) none of the xda members really care about official updates as we have very gifted and talented chefs here that can port roms for us (and we are truly greatful for that) and seeing that the only diffrence between the TytnII and tilt is the front camera that shouldn't be a big deal.
c) drivers (which there aren't none) can also be ported. There are chefs already working on porting the diamond drivers over to tilt which runs vga.
Having said that i would like to thank you for the info ... but unfortunately its old news and no one likes repeatedly hearing old news.

Welcome to the ROM update for the AT&T Tilt. Please review the following prior to downloading and installing the latest ROM update (version 1.62.502.0) on your device.

I very nearly downloaded this one by mistake. I registered with htc but my phone S/N is not a real HTC device and was still logged in, but I managed to (mistakenly) download the file from that link without much issue.
That help?
That's still only 6.0..
ZOMGWTFBBQ!!!!!1111one
Those bastards! Oh wait. I'm not worse off than I was before. Even If I didn't have XDA to feed my obsession for ROM flashing.

um what is there to help with? It doesn't seem like the OP had a question or required help in any way. He came on and made an ignorant statement.

I don't know who you spoke with but they were wrong; I just ran the HTC RUU (Rom Upgrade Utility) from the HTC e-club web site and the splash screen clearly states Windows Mobile 6.1. I have an HTC TYTN II and it works great.

LOL, nice call on NASIOC...as well as EvoM
The thing that puzzles me about this is the way the AT&T Tilt gets singled out as if it's special - in reality it's just one dozens of rebranded Kaisers around the globe, none of which have had an official update. I have a "Vodafone V1615", am I whining about where to download a Vodafone update for my Vodafone V1615? No, of course not, with the help of this forum it's been running the original HTC rom since October, and upgraded to the HTC 6.1 update a couple of days ago (before it was released by HTC in fact). So what's the problem?
The irony is the AT&T Tilt is (I believe) the only variant to have it's own section of the HTC website, and to actually have already had a rom upgrade back in February, albeit 6.0 only. Where are all the complaints about that from owners of the V1615, or the T-Mobile Vario 3, or the Orange Tytn II, or O2 XDA Stellar, or the "3" Tytn II, etc etc..?

WM 6.1 is definitely official

Well I finally managed to get into the europe htc site and register under vrious product serial numbers, to get the link to download the WM 6.1 upgrade rom - so the rumors are correct
The only thing is, I played around with the 5th digit, and replaced with 1 and 2 and got dutch and danish options, but no english ! :-(
Anyone has suggestions on what digit will enable english language download ?

Seriously...who is doubting that this was official? HTC released it "officially" on May 23rd. There are no less that 1000 posts on this forum dealing with the official release.
In addition, it appears you are posting about how to scam a fake serial number to register a non-existent device.
Why you would want to do this I'm not sure, since the official WWE version has been posted numerous times among those 1000+ threads.
What I don't understand, is, if you have a "usa" version, why you would want to fool around with the ROM update anyway.
I guess I'm gettin' too old to fool around with bleeding edge stuff. I'll wait
until the dust settles, let at&t release one (if they ever do), or wait until XDA
gets a 100% stable release. Personally, the only issue I have with the tilt is
the slow switching from landscape to portrait mode. I don't watch videos, so that one isn't an issue.
Hat's off to you guys out there that play with these early releases.
There are threads about this in the ROM development forums and there are links in the Kaiser wiki on the Shipped ROMs page for all languages, including english. (See my sig for a quick link)
