Hi all...
I face this problem. Battery life is really dissappointing!!! I don't know why but i use only bluetooth hands-free. No GPS, no Wifi, no camera, i have also disabled 3G and HSDPA and my Kaiser's battery lasts not even a day!!! .
I also have installed battery status to check temperature and CPU load and when Kaiser "sleeps" CPU load is approximately 1~5%. This means that nothing runs in the background!
I have not installed on my kaiser anything more that i had installed in Artemis and Artemis battery keeps 3 to 4 days!
Is it a battery problem???
Same here. Just received Saturday, but I already had to charge it twice.
I just stopped using S2U2 (Slide 2 Unlock 2), maybe this will be a battery eater?
My HTC Kaiser can survive more than 2 days with occasional 3G/Wi-Fi usage (about 1 - 2 hours/day) , SMSes, several short phone calls.
Same experience than Gogol, 1 day with intensive 3G (HSDPA disabled) usage (Push mail, etc.), or more that 2 days without 3G nor Wifi.
For me the battery is enough good, not as good as i want, but enough.

Yep..same here..battery usually lasts 2 days. My usage is Wifi 20 mins/day, calls 30 mins/day, other usage 20 mins/day.
Same problem with both HTC Kaiser and MDA Vario III - Radio ROM to blame?
I had a HTC Kaiser, which I sold, and now have a MDA Vario III. Both have the same short battery life (barely one day with very little use).
Battery droped from 38% to 32% in five minutes while I was on the phone with T-Mobile support.
Batteries seemed to be different though. My Vario III has a black battery - DynaPack, KAIS 160, 1350 mAh. HTC Kaiser had a white battery, and I believe was of different brand.
It reminds me of a similar battery problem with Trinity with one of the radio ROMs, excellent reception but very poor battery, same as Kaiser now.
I am getting a new battery from T-Mobile on Thursday - will let you know if it helps, but it does not look promissing so far. If it does not help, the device goes back to T-Mobile for sure.
Strange,
But you need to check what are currently running in the background.
Check using "Settings->System->Memory"
That could eat your battery a lot Especially ActiveSync !
S2U2? I am only aware of Slide2Unlock, not a version 2. I have the original one installed. I think I got rev 1.20, not the latest 1.21. But there have been some reports of draining with S2U. I don't have the issue, I don't think. But in his latest 1.21 rev he says he may have made some changes to address power draining issues. Tho the dev says he doesn't have the issue so he can't be sure.

I face exactly the same problem! In 1 hour and the phone untouched... the battery went from 40% to 30%!!! Please let me know the results of your new battery.
I just did a small test. My battery life sucks, usually having to charge the phone every 4-8 hours.
I took the SIM card out, rebooted the phone and left it set for 10 hours and never touched it (I used my Treo during this time). After 10 hours of just sitting, I lost 9%.
In my opinion, that is NOT a good battery!
all HTC Kaiser model 160 come with the black battery
Taking a poll
My experience with a PDA phone, is with what I call "normal" use, one day is all the battery should last. I'm on my fourth HTC phone and the first three this was always the case. With the Tilt, it can loose 10% doing nothing. It's like watching the gas gauge on a 72 Chevelle SS with a LS6 engine. I dare say the battery will discharge 10 times faster than the previous phones. Since some are not having this experience I wonder if we can take a poll and find a common denominator. If anybody can think of some more variables please post them.
1. Which model do you have, Tilt, Kaiser, ect?
2. Which ROM are you using?
3. Did you fully charge your battery when you first got it.
4. Which SD card are you using?
5. Do you leave wifi or BT on?
6 What brand battery do you have & mAh?
I used 3g connection and wifi for atleast 2-3 hours a day and make about 5-10 short calls. I also watched about 30 minutes of streaming video. I haven't charged my phone for 22 hours and I am at 37% which doesn't seem that bad to me. As long as it last all day I am fine with it. I just plug it in when I go to bed.
Here are one site with lot of ussefull info about batterys, and how to make them work for more time...
http://www.batteryuniversity.com/
I have noticed that the battery goes down quickly if i have bad 3G reception, and the PDA is changing beetwen GPRS and 3G every time...in this case is better to disable 3G.
I have BT on all the time and use GPS with TomTom 30-60 min a day. And every time a can, i charge the battery (shorts charges). If you read the URL above, the recommendation for LiIon batterys are shorts charges many times instead of long charges and complete discharges.
Regards.
I will have had my TyTN II for a week come tomorrow (Saturday). I have not been using HSPDA or 3G, but have kept up my normal usage of phone, text, WiFi, and playing around with the device every day to learn it.
So far I have only have to charge my phone once; will likely have to tomorrow.
While Lithium batteries are not supposed to have a memory, I have always used the practice of charging my batteries overnight the first 2-3 times and completely draining them before the next charge. To date it has served me well when it come to battery life on my devices.
Also note, most phones "quick-charge" to about 80-90% very quickly then trickle charge the last 10-20% for the last hour or so of charging. Not sure if this device dows the same.
Hey guys.
I'm using an Artemis and i'm very satisfied with it. But from time to time i'm thinking about the Kaiser...
But the Kaiser's got the faster processor. My battery in Artemis is running very long, what about batterylife in the kaiser ? How long does your battery run ?
Thanks in advance and best Regards
Peter
Battey life:
TBH I have been truly amazed - normally with the XDA-Exec (universal), which I admit i used to push very hard, it would have to be charged daily. However, I'm finding with Kaiser it just seems to keep on going. A few minutes on ActiveSync and thats its lot for the day and it just hovers between 56% and 86% all day.
My Kaiser's battery is the only problem i have. I get it in the morning with 100% battery and never lasts more than a day!
I have 3G, WiFi and HSPDA all day off and i am not using camera or GPS at all! Only bluetooth for my hands-free.
What is your opinion about that? I am thinking to send my Kaiser at Service.
Waiting for your opinions.:
I had Artemis too with BatteryStatus at 286MHz and boost at 299MHz and battery gave me 3 days!!! I really miss it!!!
Im quite amazed myself. I have a N95 and usually compare my HTC Kaiser with that, and battery wise the Kaiser is far far superior.
I use a lot of WiFi and im always connected to 3G, but still the Kaiser lasts approx 2-3 days before I need to do anything.
I am amazed at the battery life on my tilt! I recently did a 30 day trial of the Mogul and the 1500maH battery on that device was horrible (maybe because of CDMA?). My tilt with moderate usage, e-mail, surfing, GPS, and phone usage lasts all day with no problem. Not sure if it matters but I am in 3G areas about 90% of the time!
Well, when I first got mine I couldn't even get a day out of it so I arranged with T-Mo to send it back under my 7 day cooling off period as I might have a faulty handset/battery. I then could order a new one which hopefully would be ok. but due to all the postal strikes in the UK I am still waiting for the packaging to arrive so I can send it back, but, in the mean time after a few charging cycles, the battery is fine, by the end of the day I have about 20-25% left, but I am using it a lot, few hours HSDPA surfing, 30 mins or so GPSing, loads of txts and emails and 15-20 mins of calls.
I know most people wouldn't think that one day is very good out of a phone, but with my usage I think its ok what I'm getting. when I first got it it would be dead by 7pm!!!
Prior to upgrading to Tilt, I had 8525 for nearly one year. Battery life on 8525 was about ten to twelve hours. On my Tilt, it is approximately the same.
Many threads on different forums about 8525 battery - my battery fell within the median of user's experiences.
Here's my battery life:
I'm plugged in all day at work. Last night, I left work about 6:45. I have 3 email accounts pushing mail as they come in. I have bluetooth turned on. I made one phone call last night (~ 5 minutes). I checked a website for a few minutes. The screen was slept the rest of the evening. This morning, I checked the same website for ~5 minutes. I got to work about 7:30 am. ~35% battery life left.
To me, this is crazy. I had a treo 650 that I wasn't pushing email on, but the same phone use (web use on the Tilt is negligible in my opinion) would last me nearly a week.
Does pushing mail really suck down a 70% of the battery life in ~ 12 hrs?
That's nuts.
Robert
Hey guys,
thanks for all your answers !
Hmmm....i'm not quiet sure to buy one at the moment....
Artemis with 200 mhz has really good batterylife - anyone downclocked the Kaiser processor ?
I think this would be an advantage with battery, don't you think ?
I'm very keen on Kaiser, but with only 1 day battery it's absolutely no solution for me...
Cheers, Peter
Comparing my 8525 (which I "band selected" to Edge only) and 8925 (where so far I can't figure out how to disable 3G), the 8925 has extremely poor battery life.
I was 100% charged at 7am. It's 4pm and I'm down to 15%. Haven't used wifi at all and have had max 5mins of phone calls. I did stream to my BT headset at lunch while I was at the gym (30mins).
But typically, in this regular day, my 8525 would still be at about 40% at 8pm.
Hopefully someone can figure out how to user-select 3G.
Thx,
Joseph
Just load a different Comm Manager from the Kaiser Cab thread, they have a 3G button that you can hold off 3G with.
Generally speaking i have experienced good battery life, but i recently noticed when i was looking at the batterin information in my TBattery 0.56 that it says the full level on my batter is 1380mAh, but on the battery itself it says it's 1600mAh battery. Is that a glitch in the software or is it possible that there is something wrong with my battery? Thanks for anyone who has an idea. I uploaded a screenshot to show what i was looking at.
get yourself a 3000 mah battery and try finding a different radio

Where does that software come from? Sounds cool, but I can't see a hint of it anywhere
It seems some Kaisers have battery life problems and others not, for some random hardware or software reasons. On mine I'm amazed at being able to hold an entire day with VERY heavy usage like wifi, EDGE, GPS, music over bluetooth headset etc. Usually my uptime for a day reaches 6hrs with that kind of use, and the battery will last about 7. It's the longest battery life I've had with all my HTC devices so far (Blueangel, Wizard, Hermes, Kaiser).
Ok so if you dont know the 8925 has probably the worst battery life of any HTC phones I have ever used. It was like they decided to put all the latest and greatest into a shell sexier than hell, then give it a old 8125 battery,
The 8125 had what a 1250mAh battery, so they give the 8925 a 1350mAh, makes no since. I am still use to my P990i having a 1500mAh battery and getting 7-9 hours of play time and a 10-18 day stand by time.
Are their any upgraded batteries out yet? if no I may just have to get a second battery and charger cause I cannot go the last 4 hours of my day without a phone. Oh and a car charger is out of the question. I swear those things were made by battery companies to kill you battery faster than shizzit.
Actually, I have found that after a few full charges and running the battery down to about 5% it lasts pretty good.
The first day I had it I had to charge it after about 4-5 hours. Now I am using it most of the day.
if I'm 3Ging and/or GPSing, it goes fast.
if i'm not doing those but doing anything else, it lasts a long time. Easily a whole day.
3G is a huge strain on battery life. Don't expect to get anywhere near the battery life you did with the 8125 if you are using 3G.
With my 8525 I would get 9 hours of battery life at the most (100%-0). With the Tilt, I have been getting about 12 hours of battery life with about the same amount of use.
I run WL push email all day and browse the web pretty heavily.
Make sure to condition your battery by running it all the way down to 0 before you recharge a few times.
I have been conditioning the hell out of my battery so far, 100% down to %5ish, 100 to 5 100 to 5, only charges it and gone through like 3 cycles so far. Hopefully I will see something soon
anyone know of any batteries out there yet? if no I will put an order in for another OEM HTC

lol. that's a trust worthy site.
Just a note - conditioning a LiIon battery has zero affect on its charge capacity.
I'm getting between 8-10 hours of very active use and 10-16 hours of life when I'm not on the silly thing all the time. SPB Pocket Plus calculates my battery life at around 10-11 hours, and it's usually pretty good at estimating it once it's seen enough data.
Nevertheless, I can also attest to the fact that the battery life of my Kaiser is increasing. I'd say its about 25-30% better than when I first started using it a few weeks ago.

Where do you see this feature in Pocket Plus?
I am hoping Slueth is right about the battery life increasing over time. Mine isn't a 4th of what the 8125 or 8525 was. The comments on 3G being a huge drain I can't agree with. The 8525 and 8125 had the same battery consumption and I could get a full day of regular usage on both.
I can say using the Kaiser rom over the at&t rom made a noticeable improvement.
I live in HSDPA nation [Bay Area]. My tilt gets pushed to limits everyday. I have mobile shell installed with weather update, push email and active sync through exchange server, use ICS with laptop on the go. I can get through the day with heavy use and the battery never falls below 40%. At 11:00PM last night, I had 75% left on my battery level indicator.
I would say it's about 20-30% better than Hermes' battery performance.

That's AMAZING! I wish I could have spent 75% by then and still have 25% left. I use everything you mentioned too but I barely make it t 7 or 8 pm before my tilt turns off at 1% battery level so I have to stick it in the charger as soon as I get home from work at about 6'ish.

Add the battery meter to one of your tabs and look at the options for the meter by tap & hold - options. It allows you to set a fixed battery life or use a statistically estimated duration.

It all depends on your actual data usage. If you aren't transmitting a lot of data, then the HDSPA usage won't have a significant effect because it isn't on all that frequently. If you do, you'll definitely notice a difference.
Mine was showing about 75% this morning and is now at 57% (5:30pm) - that is following three or four short phone calls, several web page downloads, several synchronisations via bluetooth and ten or fifteen minutes experimenting with the business card scanner.
I do agree with other comments here that battery life improves after several charge/discharge cycles. This Kaiser replaces my old Hermes - I think the battery life may not be quite as good, but it isn't vastly worse - trouble is that it has so many fun things to play with that you just do more with it! Just the GPS alone will draw that battery down if you use it too much - my hand-held Garmin can flatten a pair of high capacity AAs in less than 24 hours - and that is not powering a 3g transceiver and bluetooth at the same time.
Martin
i must say, i have the case of not able to leave my phone in my pocket. I always have to have my phone out, turn on from sleep and do something with it. If I'm able to resist this temptation, my phone can last the whole day going down to 50%. If I'm messing around with it, then it could go below.
I noticed that Skype is a MAJOR draw on the battery.
When I had skype on and logged in, the USB charger could barely hold the charge even ... when I was also using GPS with Google maps the battery life was visibly going down.
After using the device more normally now I get quite decent battery life.
The real test will come when I fly cross country and read an ebook on it.
If i can resist the urge to play with the GPS i can get about 2 days out of mine, but my useage is pretty light. I am using Direct Push with my exchange server, and get about 15 emails a day. The TCP timeout on my firewall is set to 1 hour, so i think that helps too. I am using the black & blue comm manager with 3g option, and i leave 3g off(it switches between 3g and Edge all day at work, and i heard that can lower battery significantly). I only enable 3g if i tether, and even then 3g coverage in my area SUCKS! Verizon has EVDO everywhere here, at&t needs to get their ass in gear . Overall i'm happy with the battery life. I've setup a few PDA's for some of my users here so i wasn't expecting anything great (although our two blackjack users seem very happy with battery life).
Just placed an order for the 1600 mAh Tilt battery
Hi,
I was confused by the different batteries available for the Tilt at www.batteryupgrade.com , so at I e-mailed them this message,
Just found your site, and am interested in purchasing a battery for my ATT Tilt/HTC Kaiser however; when I looked at my battery it does say KAIS 160, but the P/N is 35H00086-00M, and not 35H00088-00M. The device is ATT Branded, and in the device info on the phone, model number just says Kaiser, not Kaiser120 etc. Is there any difference, what battery should I get?
they gave me this link-
http://www.batteryupgrade.com/product_detail.php?productId=75070772&searchphrase=htc%2520kaiser
Just waiting to see if it does help alot, if not, I'll at least have two batteries now! lol

Terrible so far... but i've only been through one charge cycle, almost. I topped off the out of the box battery. From there it's been plugged into the computer while i was adding w***z (i mean perfectly legal software). So I've never actually winded it down to 0.
Is it bad to keep topping it off like this?
The battery life i've been having probably wouldn't even last a day but i should probably go down to 5% before i charge it again and see if it improves.
My motto with this phone is "Who needs decent battery life if you've got GPS, a 3MP camera, an unbelievable library of third pary software, 3G, a fully qwerty keyboard, gorgeous touch screen, and tilting screen?"
Hello, I've recieved my AT&T Tilt 8925 (Kais100) unit a week ago and ever since I've experienced awful battery performance. The item shipped new (not refurbished supposedly nor defective) and included a Samsung battery. I changed to Dutty's v3 ROM right away (flashing was successful, I also switched to radio version 1.27.12.27) and last night switched to Q-Mobile v1.2 to see if the ROM was the problem, but it persisted.
My battery drains extremely fast, even when the unit is off it drops 10% after 8 hours (overnight and also throughout the day, I'm leaving the unit at home while I solve this issue and it's always off). The unit does not have a SIM card inserted and the Phone function remains off, so does WiFi, Bluetooth, Beam, 3G, etc. It's also muted and has no alarms activated, nor background programs running (I'm currently running a freshly flashed Q-Mobile v1.2 ROM with a hard reset done as well).
I've read about battery perfomance extensively but haven't ever read about the battery discharging while the unit is off, and given the fact that I'm NOT using the phone functions, I barely believe this can be normal behaviour. I purchased 2 units from the same source and both are having similar issues with battery perfomance.
I'm currently testing a borrowed OEM Dynapack battery from a friend's Tilt to see if it shows the same behaviour as well to discard the possibility of a faulty unit. Note that I'm using the OEM 1A charger and leave the unit charging for several hours.
If the battery proves to be defective I'd have to get one (or contact the seller to see if he'd respond to the issue). Can someone recommend a cheap/reliable battery that could be bought online (eBay, etc.)?
Thank you very much! I hope that someone has a clue on this issue.
Best regards
Sebastian
Just to clarify, is the phone actually OFF, or is it in standby? If it's in standby, 10% after 8 hours wouldn't be unreasonable at all.
Uhm, it's on standby I guess (when I turn it on again it's instantaneous, not like when you soft reset the unit)...
I'm new to PDA phones, I had an IPAQ RX3715 before with WM2003SE and I could leave the unit off for days without battery drainage. However I may not be too familiarised with these new units' standby/off functioning. If in standby and with the Phone function off (meaning that the device has "nothing to do" other than being off) it's normal for the device to drain the battery so much I would be disappointed.
As a sidenote, my friend's Tilt is not draining while it's on standby being on the same conditions other than the fact that his unit has the Dynapack battery.
Regards!
Bat Drain
I have the same rom and the same problem. I was at the hospital all day i made two calls and about mid day my bat was at 30%. I think its duttys rom V3 causing the problems. Changing roms now.
I could be wrong, but I think your phone is fine, these devices just consume a lot of power. 10% over 8 hours would be totally normal in my opinion. Is that the main reason that leads you to think there is a problem with your phone? Have you ever had a pocket PC before that had better battery life? When I got my first PDA I thought the same thing, but I realized that they are not like normal cell phones, where you could just recharge once every couple of days. PDA's must be charged at least every night. If you use GPS or wi-fi a lot you're probably going to be charging sometime throughout the day as well. I just got into the habit of plugging it in every time I get into the car, and when I get home I plug it into either the computer or the wall charger. There are after market batteries available, but if you want a drastic increase in amp-hours, the battery is going to be bigger and it will require a new battery cover. This is totally unacceptable in my opinion, as the device is relatively large to begin with. My advice would be to only activate a radio if you are using it, and de-activate it when you are done. Also just get into a routine where you are charging it whenever possible. Another thing, I just flashed Dutty's V4 RTM, and I must say the increase in battery life was very noticeable. Don't let me confuse you, though. From the information you supplied, I really am not able to tell if there is a problem or not, so give some more information and examples of battery life so we can figure out if somethings wrong, or if you just aren't used to the amount of consumption of this type of device. Hope I could help. Cheers!

Yeah that's not normal. You got any radios besides phone running throughout the day?
Thanks for your thorough reply. Picking on what you mentioned, it's true that I'm new to PDA Phones, as I mentioned I also own an iPAQ rx3715 with WM2003SE and my idea was to replace it. Judging the fact that PDA-only devices, to my eyes, are nowadays dying I thought I'd get me the latest and most complete device available WITH GPS, since I was using my iPAQ together with a GPS Bluetooth Receiver with much delight.
What I experienced with my previous device was that battery performance was never an issue, it did consume power as any PDA, but I didn't find myself worrying about it, it never dropped when off and it would last me several days.
Since I'm using my Tilt with the Phone function off I _thought_ it wouldn't need any power for anything... but it might be that these new devices, or the new WM6 architecture is different to that of WM2003SE/PDA only devices... I don't know, but it just sounds strange to me, although if it's normal I'll live with it- as you say, I'll have to be charging it 1-2 times a day.
On the one hand it would be good for me to know that my device is ok, but on the other hand it means that battery life isn't even close to what I expected... I had read people complaining about it but in general I tend not to be overly critic about the defects of devices... but it seems that it's the case. I meant not to use the phone features and thus I thought it wouldn't be consuming power on standby seeing that the phone should not be running anything on background...
Thank you again for your reply. If anybody else has a word on this I'd appreciate it.
Best regards
Just as an aside you will notice the battery life getting better after a couple weeks it seems the battery has to be conditioned so to speak. Also do you have any kind of push email on your phone as if you do that does use quite a bit of power, you might want to set it up as a pop3 account and set it to check emails every so often instead of getting them as soon as they come in.But I have amde it a habit to always use my charger whenever I am able to as these batteries seem to be happiest when topped off whenever possible.
Hello again, I'm still experiencing this problem and it seems not normal.
Simply put, I fully charge the device. I turn it off. It discharges by itself with all wireless functions off.
Today I did a hard suspend (keeping off pressed) with battery at 60%... when I turn the unit on 7 hours later the battery was at 6% with a critical warning sign.
I'm NOT using the device, I turn it on, use WiFI for 3-5 minutes then switch it off and put the device to suspend. I turn it on after a couple of hours, play with the menus and turn it off again. Just by doing that the battery drains by 10% every 5 hours or so, sometimes it won't even turn on due to battery drainage.
Is this NORMAL? I need to know if my unit or my battery is defective so I can return it to the seller in time...
Thanks, best regards
Sebastian
Battery life DOES seem to improve with time. The first day my battery wouldn't last for 5 hours! Keep charging your battery and letting it drain as much as you can (whether or not to let it fully drain is debatable), and I bet you'll see some guaranteed performance.
Also, what would help a lot is if you found and installed the Today plugin BatteryStatus and checked the "Show More indicators" option, and see what your battery drain was. The normal is between 150mA and 300mA when you're on the Today screen. Any more than that, and you most likely have a problem, assuming connections besides phone are off.
sounds normal to me, turning off you mean by pressing the button on the right side of unit? if so, mine is the same way
I'd say that was definitely not normal performance. On average, I use mine for at least an hour worth of talk time, an hour or two running TomTom, numerous SMSs, and at least a couple of hours reading books. I charge it every night, and the battery is generally running at around 50 to 60% by that time. I'm surprised at how quickly yours is draining.
I have an RX3715 inhabiting a drawer, and, while the battery life was a lot longer on that device, the battery was a lot larger, and the screen lower quality. The fact that it is not connected to a mobile network gives the battery a much longer life too. When I used it purely for TomTom, connecting to a bluetooth receiver, the battery faded very fast.
I've had a Kaiser since day one. I have found that adding a comm manager that allows forcing the phone to Edge give huge battery savings. In standby with the phone radio On and BT radio ON, WiFi OFF, my phone drops 4% over night very consistant. On Edge battery lasts days.
The only time I get fairly high battery consumption is streaming with 3G. Edge is so much more efficient on the battery, so if you don't need the speed, throttle down!
The only time I've ever found the phone Dead or close to dead after only a few hours on standby was when I had WiFi ON and the phone in standby. I can't pinpoint what exactly causes the condition, but when it occurs, the phone is HOT and the battery heavily drained in a short time. This has happened with both Hermes and Kaiser. I never leave WiFi ON when not needed, and have never seen severe battery drain since.
I do sometimes turn off all radios except WiFi, and then use wired ear buds and stream Slingbox video to the phone over my home WiFi LAN. I can get almost 4 hours of watching on a charge.
The battery should not be draining when powered off, but not much at all when put in sleep mode. Get yourself a replacement Testing.
As an aside, Alex's WM 6.1 BETA 2 has given me the best battery life of any rom. Only about 25% of the battery drains per day. With most other roms it's 50-100% per day.
Hello, thanks to everyone for your replies. It's strange because I've been doing lots of test, switching batteries (I have 4 units to test now) and I get inconsistent results... the 2 most problematic units were bought from the same eBay seller and got their ROMs changed the first day, the 3rd unit still has the AT&T ROM and was apparently not draining as fast. The problem is that the 2 first units seem to get battery drains overnight in flight mode of 10% and 2 times one of them got a 0% critical battery status just by being in standby and not in use (none of them are working as phones and have the function off)
The odd part is that for some reason this happens only sometimes, now I've switched to Sleuth's WM6.1 ROM and the problem is gone for now, I'm still at 90% since 2 nights ago having turned on GPS and WIFI for 5 minutes each 2-3 times... the other 2 units have been in standby from 100% charge and they haven't dropped either! And they're using the AT&T ROM and Q-Mobile v1.2 respectively... what kills me is that I cannot say what's wrong, cause I've swapped batteries, swapped chargers, swapped ROMs but cannot trace which is the problem (or if there's a problem at all)...
Perhaps it's normal for the unit to sometimes drain 10% after 8 hours of standby in flight mode and on other times remain at 90% for 2-3 days if not in use...
Thanks everyone for the read, I'd appreciate any comments
Regards
Sebastian
What radios are u using. Try changing radios
10% loss overnight in standby would be normal.
Does the unit get warm when you notice rapid drain?
I wonder about the "old" active sync problem - does the device show any running programs when you turn on?
In general you should expect to get a days worth of power using it for the odd call, perhaps an hour of wifi and perhaps an hour of prgram use. Of course all taht is very variable but I generally get away with a charge once a day. Occasionally, I take it from it's holder and it's warm to touch, but usually it's 'cos I've forgotten and left something like tomtom running.

i flashed my Diamond 3 times since i bought it 1 month ago.
i started with 1.34 ita, then 1.37 ita, 1.93 ita and now i'm on SwiftBL-WWE-Diamond-ROM-v5.6.
Diamond is my work phone, now i am in holidays so i do not use it all day long but it is turned on for eventual calls.
Since i put 1.93 and still now with swiftBL i notice that the battery life is shorter. At now, in stand by mode, only keeping it turned on, the battery lasts less then 5 hours. With 1.37, making calls sendig sms life was around 6hours or more.
I must charge my phone 2 times a day and put for another charge near midnight before go to bed for all night long. Batteries like charge cicles but now im thinking this is too much stress for diamond battery.
do u think it is broken? how long is your diamond phone battery life?
i probably buy another battery and a car charger so i can charge it in any place, but i would be glad for more efficency.
anyone of you knows how much thick is extended battery?
thanks for answers
There are pictures of the extended battery in the accessories forum - pretty much where you would expect to see them.
That does sound like odd behaviour to me though for your battery. If I don't touch my GPS, make a couple of brief calls and send a few texts, whilst keeping in 2g mode, I expect to see about 40hours from a charge.
I'm experiencing a similar behavior with 1.93 ROM and 1.00.25.05 radio firm.
I'm currently wondering if S2U2 is the cause.
_Mystique_, do you use S2U2 ?
I use S2U2 with mine - I have been using the new radio and ROM from Dutty.
Just in standby with push mail on the battery lasted of 36 hours from friday. sundays charge lasted only 24 with the same usage? apart from 10 mins on teeter
i had about the same issue - i was charging it about twice a day to keep it going. i took it back to phones4u in here in the UK - after a bit of discussion and getting an error code from Orange - they gave me a new one - and its about 50 times better! the battery lasts much longer and the signal is better! my theory is that i had a faulty aireal or something - it had terrible reception, and because of that, more battery power was used trying to get a signal... But i might be wrong!

Hi
I had this issue as well, until I have stop sync my calendar
I do not understand why, but for now I am not sync it
i have a Diamond branded "TIM", and also my battery last about 10 hour without using the phone, always in standby.
I tried switching off the phone module and the battery last about 40h.
So for sure the problem is the aerial/phone component.
I will send the mine to htc in warranty, because i think that 10 hour in stand by is not the normal behaviur of this phone.
also i tried 2 spare "chinese" battery, from ebay, but all the results are the same.... so for sure aren't the battery.
Bye
Question:
I'm going to get my Diamond soon. How long the battery must be charged for the first time? 3 hours or more?
Why it is not good to empty the partially charged battery and then refill it to 100%?

i have partially solved the problem
yes, i use s2u2, but the real problem (for me) is Kaspersky Mobile. Closing it im experiencing 100% plus battery live: i ended a complete charge at 14.48 at now (21.52) i am at 50% battery.
So the problem are the running tasks. This time i closed kaspersky and s2u2, then i will check if i can close some SwiftBL default task
i am in 3g mode (i've switched off hsdpa), bt always off.

i think that is normal that more battery is spent with phone mode enabled.
i think that a realistic battery life target is a work day.
on ebay there are batteries (10$) and craddles...
Beware of these cheap batteries.
Especially for GPS, that seems to need genuine batteries to work well.
Other topics already deal with this.
