Today screen plugin for Bluetooth and Wireless - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

I had a Today screen plugin that I was using, and I have no idea how I got it, but I did a hard reset and now I have lost it. I'm using Sleuth 3, but it doesn't seem to be part of the ROM.
It consisted of a narrow status area that showed the name of my network operator and below that my wireless LAN status (disconnected or not) on the left, and then on the right side of the screen it showed whether my Bluetooth was on or off. I know there are probably a million plugins that look like that, but maybe somebody could point me in the right direction!

i think those both are just today screen items...go to start menu, settings, today, then the items tab. I would think its some kind of bluetooth or BT box you have to check...it depends on what type of rom your using...

lol we both had the same posts....
until now

I tried ticking all the available options and it never seemed to appear. I found a screenshot of someone else that was using it on the Today screen post. In the attached image, have a look at the plugin that says AT&T with WiFi and the Bluetooth symbol. Anybody recognize it?

Kaiser Tweak
Download and install Kaiser Tweak and about 3/4 way down you will find the option to enable "Wireless Today", this is what you are looking for.
It is already in your ROM you just need to tool to enable it.

Aaah, that makes sense, because I didn't remember installing it last time and I had fiddled with Kaiser Tweak. Got it back, thanks for the help!

I use a today plugin that allows me to switch BT/WiFi/Phone on/off as required - get it from http://www.paulbdesign.com/effcomm/ (the screenshot - capture0001.jpg - shows you what it looks like, so you can see what you're getting before you download it ).
It's nice and simple, doesn't use much screen real estate and it does what it says on the tin.....

i'm trying real hard but i cant see any plugin that says at&t, in fact i dont see anything on the today screen......am i even looking at a today screen? cause all i see is a naked woman

yeah, the t-mobile wing came with that today plug-in. it is labled 'TMO ONS' on the items menu.

i beleive its a built in software

It is built in - it's the Wireless Manager today applet.....
Download the attached CAB file, install it and then select "Wireless" in the list of items (you can move it up/down to get it where you want it). When you go back to your Today screen, it will be displayed.
There's a registry hack, and probably a CAB somewhere, that will allow CommManager to be launched when you tap on the Wireless plugin - you can search the Hermes Wiki for that one
Hope that helps you out....
Mark.

This is the original T-Mobile ONS cab that I got out of the Wing's extended rom. I use it on my xv6700 for Verizon and it works fine. It already links to the comm manager and the date links to
Clocks and Alarms shortcut in the settings menu.

thanks for those today screen plugins. I should mention though that they only work on htc devices.

the new one doesnt show the time!
only thing i can think of is I installed the corporate version...
can anyone tell me how to get the time back there?
thanks
I'm afraid I have no idea - but could I ask, what plugin are you using to get your tcp data? (network throughput etc)
Vijay
it's a program called IP Dashboard.
very handy piece of kit, it auto changes depending on what connection is being used: usb/bluetooth/phone/gprs/wifi etc
O2 Active installs its own Time/Date Today plugin which is different to the standard one that you received with the Corporate install.
If when you had the o2 stuff installed you ever looked at your Today options you should have noticed there were two clocks...the stock one, and the o2 active version.
I'm sure there are plenty of utilities and plugins you can get to display the time as well as the date to appear - though why you'd want to when you've also got both on the taskbar is beyond me :?
Cheers
Ant
i just like it there cause its easy to see in the morning lol.. its a bit bigger...
i dont really know why i have the date in my taskbar.. never look at it :/

Er, I do. I got my XDA2i from o2 Insurance (when a fat bastard ran into me and smashed my XDA2 screen in me pocket - twat!) and it's one of the main things (one of those annoying little niggles) that I'm missing. It's handy when you've got the machine turned off, you want to just check the time and you don't want to enter the password just to get it - every other mobile phone user on the planet has that abilty. Also, when you're doing something on the XDA2i and you want to check the time, I don't fancy having to Start / Today, just to get back to the Main Screen just to check out the time - before I just glanced to the Taskbar.
Any ideas how to get this back on the screen? There's no option I can find in Settings...

How to get HTC Home Screen for AT&T Tilt?

I want the HTC Home Screen (with the big clock and shortcuts) on my Tilt. Where can I find it? How do I install it? Will it mess with the AT&T ROM?
Thanks.

here you go sir. im only giving you this one because the 6 button version always seems to put my phone on vibrate when i dont want it. so heres the one that works. it will not mess your phone up. install to the phone. enjoy.
Thanks
Thank you very very much!
I've never done this, how do I install?
Move the .cab to your phone - use File Manager on your phone to browse to where you put the file - run the file by clicking on it
I installed the cab, but I dont see anything different...do I need to change any setting after installing? Will this give me the weather on the Today screen?
reset the device
reset then go to settings, today, items, and select the correct plug_in.
I did that, and have the HTC plugin checked...just wondering what im supposed to be seeing...anybody have a screenshot?
What about the weather...How do I get that?
Yeah here it is,
Ignore the watermark, couldnt find a handy/free screenshot
anyway for weather, if you want your own city its another story.
There is one good tutorial for that on the forums, just have to look
*edit whoops images didnt go through, let me crop them

Just select a different theme for the today screen.
I want to try this on my new AT&T Tilt. But can it be uninstalled? In case I change my mind? In the past, I downloaded one of the HTC Home Plug-in CABs from this site, and I had to hard-reset to get rid of it...
quick question, what plugin are you using to show the state of the connections (phone, wifi and bluetooth) ,I don't recognise it

WIRLESS TODAY PLUGIN
:] you guys should really try the cabs duttythroy put together
HTC Home with Contacts
I downloaded the HTC Home cab listed in this string and it appears to work just fine. I need to tweak it (i.e. - add more cities to the weather file as well as add the programs on the program screen), but what I really miss is the Conatcts screen ... the one where you have 9 pictures that are one touch dialing in that tab. Does a .cab exit for HTC Home with the four tabs instead of the three?
I ran the 6 button on and 8125 and HATED the fact that it arbitrarily changed my phone to vibrate mode. But I'd really enjoy the contacts tab.
Thanks!
Battery Bar ...
I also downloaded the .cab listed in this string for the battery bar in the header (for lack of better term). I placed it on the phone and ran it, then the phone rebooted ... nothing. I executed the .cab a second time, was told the previous version would be uninstalled, it installed and rebooted again ... nothing.
I picked the QVGA version of the bars, not solid. I may try solid next but I can't imagine that would correct any issues. Just wanted to post that it didn't work for me.

Great Software for your Kaiser

Guys I am sure some of you have come up with this program already but I thought posting a link to it since its free and works great with the Kaiser when you want to switch/open/close applications without pulling out the stylus.

Thanks - I haven't seen this before.
Your link is dead - looks right but goes to the wrong place. I got it with a copy/paste though.
I installed it and it gave the "this program may not display properly because it was designed for an older version of windows" thing. I downloaded the WM6 version and am running it on WM6.
The program did not appear in my Applications. It was not available to be assigned to a button either.
It was sitting there in the Program Files directory though, and I could run it from there.
Looks pretty good. I like the controls and everything - but its a bit disappointing that it doesn't pull the correct icon for every program and you have to do it manually. I don't see myself doing that - so if I'm going to use it I would use it with the default icons.
I think I like it and would probably use it if I can get it to assign to a button.

To be honest its only when its assigned to a button that you will see the benefits specially if its the PTT which is next to the wheel.
Funny you say that. I tried checking my buttons settings and now it doesnt show up on the list of applications however its still assigned to the PTT button so I dont want to mess with it lol in case I screw it up..
Have you tried re-installing it?
I agree with the Icons being a pain although we tend to use the same applications very often so it might not be too much of a hassle.
UPDATE
Its back on the list of my applications available. I have assigned it to button 6 PTT

Kaiser Options

Hey fellow Kaiser users,
I'm currently using the Tilt, with Dutty's touchflo rom. I have a few things that I was wondering whether or not can be done within the device. Can these be done? If so, how?
1. Setting TCPMP as default player within the HTC Home Plugin to be able to control the next and previous options from the home screen (assuming just using it for audio purposes) or use a skin on top of TCPMP that looks similar to that of HTC Audio Manager
2. Set S2U2 to startup with device so that you don't have to select it in order for it to run. If this is not possible, is there a way to change the items included in the quick launcher, so that S2U2 or some other program can replace some items included in the launcher?
That's all I can come up with right now, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and by the way, Dutty, your custom ROM is awesome, glad I found it.
I can't help you with TCPMP but if you use a program like Battery status it will give you the ability to set up a tray launcher which will allow you to set up s2u2 there which is what I do along with some other apps. Heres a picture of it in the middle it gives you meters you can set up at the bottom is the tray launch.

For tcpmp, to set it as default, go to options>settings> slect page>file association> check all that you need. Exit the program. Reset the device. and you should be good to go.
I've set all the file associations within TCPMP, but this doesn't set it within the HTC Homepage Plugin and allow you to control it from the homepage. If I could get this to work, it would be awesome, but it may not be possible. If that's the case I guess I'll just have to use TCPMP's not-very-aesthetically pleasing interface. . But I can deal with it, it works, so I guess that's good enough.
The HTC Home plugin only works with Windows Media Player or HTC Audio Manager.
S2U2 loads up fine for me after a soft reset. It can be selected to be used in the Home Plugin in the normal way or assigned to a hardware button or soft key.
For some reason mine doesn't automatically load after a soft reset, I have to either launch the configuration tool or the application itself in order to use it. Does anyone happen to know if there is a way to, or exist a theme similar to the appearance of the HTC Audio Manager?
Thanks for all your help everyone!

You should be able to set it to come on by defult with "S2U2 Setting" (most likely found in your "system Tools" folder). Make sure you have the faollowing set to ON:
-Start on wake up
-Start on backlit off
then click:
-Save
-Yes
That should do it.

BAF GPS Toggle works but needs visual correction, help!?

Hi,
I have been using BAF GPS Toggle for a few weeks now and it works great.
I am also using the HTC Touch Pro (see signature) which has VGA
Resolution: 480x640
Colours: 65536
The button/icon is small and the Today space is about half the space of other Today plugins/features. Thus I need my stylus to turn it on or off. The fonts are however regular size and thus cut off halfway by the size of the plugin. This means I am sometimes guessing... is that 1 satelite or 7... I'm sorry, I don't have the ability to do a screenshot as I am travelling. I suspect the issue could be solved if the (status) icon is larger for this kind of screen size. (guessing)
(Note I believe the HTC Touch HD has XVGA and its GPS performance could certainly use this plugin as I understand from their owners)
Performance:
Great! (I am using original ROM and Radio, see signature) It picks up satelites almost immediately and this overcomes the slow searching and fixing that other programs use. I've used a few GPS programs to test them out. Both regular car GPS software like Tom Tom and my favourite Route66 as well as off-road software like GPS Tuner... It works great with all and I would advice this clean (low memory) software to any HTC Touch Pro user... (even with the small sized Today plugin as it is)
www.baf.cc developed this and says he has no time to update a fix soon. Is there another way for us (HTC Touch Pro users) to fix this ourselves?
Anyone has a fix/suggestion?
Thanks,
How to adjust today screen to fit GPS Toggle program? (or reverse)
Hi there,
(note: After install, first use gives error 21 and won't activate. After it will work as it should, HTC Touch Pro)
Listen, Robert Ferris created a great little tool. I really use it all the time. However, as you can see in my screenshot it does not go well with VGA visually. It is really difficult to open and start with a stylus as the space is very limited and often I open an adjoining program/function....
As Robert seems to be busy I think it is up to us to make the necessarey adjustments. If I want to do that,... Where do I need to make adjustments, how can I change the today line to fit the text? Where are the images, so I can increase their sizes? And would that do it?
Not only would it make a solution, but it would be fun to learn to do this myself as well.
