MDA III freeze sometimes after downgrade to WM2003 !? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hi community,
I updated my MDAIII from the latest TMOB ROM to WM 5/6 without touching the ROM size. The device worked perfect without any issues before updating. During my usage of WM 6 my device freezes often and I have to hardrest the device. Most of the freezes happened when I start to use wifi.
I decided to rollback to my latest WM2003 ROM. Thererfore I used the manual in XDA-Wiki. My problem is that my MDA III is now unstable as I used WM 5/6. Which means that the device is freezing if I use wifi.
Has someone any ideas what I could do that my MDA III is working propper as before?
Thx.
Jens

Hi together,
It seems that the battery is the main problem! When I use my mda III in the cradle all the time, everything works fine. I will buy a new battery @ ebay soon. Any suggestions therefore?
Thx.
Jens

Hi Guys,
FYI
I replaced my old battery against a brand new one and "everthing" works fine now. I bougth a 1700 mha battery from ebay for ~ 12 EUR.

Rom Question

Sorry for asking such fundamental questions but i am new to this site...
I have a Orange SPV M2000 (Blue Angel)
Can I ugrade the rom on this, what will the upgraded rom give me that i dont already have and how do i do this ?
I have looked at the rom pages and can not seam to find an Orange rom, does this matter ?
Sorry if these are basic questions, thank you for your time.
I also have a m2000, was wondering if it would be ok to install the new 1.4 asia O2 rom???
Mainly want it for WMP10 due to the streaming video etc.
Have red some mixed reports about the new rom, is it actually better than 1.31???
ive upgraded my m2000 using the wiki
im basically running the imate roms as im unsure on how to play with the extended rom.
everything went fine without a hitch!
I have an orange SPV M2000, I have successfully upgraded to Rom 1.40 with Radio Rom 1.13
I am a bit of an old hand doing this as i have had a pocket pc since the inception of a ipaq 3630 many moons ago.
What you ask do you get with the updates? well the main reason for upgrading is the increased reliability. far less soft reboots due to lockups.
and a nicer interface with WM10 especially since i have a media center PC and i can automatically synch my recorded TV to the device
anyone needs help with upgrade you can msn me at stuart b ***NOSPAM***@broadbandtap.co.uk
I can't download MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP ?????
HELP?

ROM/Radio problem? T-Mobile Compact IV

Hi guys, thanks for looking in at my problem.
I decided to move away from N95 for the greener pastures of an MDA, of which i had previously had a Vario, and liked the basics of it, anyway,
I have a T-Mobile Compact IV (Diamond -Diam200) with original shipped ROM
ROM: 1.37.110.3
Radio 1.00.25.03
I was wanting to increase battery time (cute coming from an N95 i know), reduce battery heating prob, speed up and 'fix' some of the little bugs on it.
So i followed guides and instruction from the guys on here and things were going so well.
First off i used the unsigned HardSPL, which worked as instructed.
Then i flashed it to RUU_Diamond_HTC_Europe_1.93.401.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship
This worked, but had an issue such that I could receive messages, but got the dreaded "Your text message cannot be sent."
And when i tried to check settings for text/voice messages it constantly said 'cant connect try later.'
So, hope your still with me here and havent dropped off,
I tried, in this order, but still the same error.
Diamond_Radio_1.00.25.08
SwiftBL-WWE-Diamond-v7-0-Full-12MbPP -good rom btw
RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE-ME_1.93.456.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship
Neither solved my problem, so i re-flashed back to original ROM, found on here also. Now I can text happily again, no error.
What am i doing wrong?
UPDATE:
it would seem as though only Radio 25.03 works for me with any of the excellent cooked ROMs.
Anyone shed any light on why? and has this any known major deficits ie battery power, etc?
Thanks
I got my mdac4 on Thursday and found that the stock rom was quite slow and pug ugly! So rather than rebrand the touch pro I installed the Swiftblade rom and ended up with a nice fast device but no sound at all and I had problems sending texts. So I then installed the panosha rom and 08 radio and very nice it is!
thanks Stunno, found the fault, it was my dated SIM, got a new one today and dutifully upgraded to 25.05.
Job done. Good times

Annoying sluggish behaviour - T-Mobile MDA Vario III

I have a T-Mobile UK, MDA Vario III and have to say for me personally this is the best "all-rounder" of the MDA Vario phones I've had so far. I also use phoneAlarm v2.10 (latest) to assist in making profiles on the phone easier to switch between.... one gripe though (and I don't know WHY this happens)...
I'm in the middle of writing a text, or even generally using the phone, and it decides to just stop working for about 5 seconds. All screen and keyboard response just stops! Then it kicks back in again. Very annoying!
Does anyone else have this problem, seen it, or even better still, do they have a fix for this? By the way am also using the default WM6 Pro CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2) that came with it from T-Mobile UK.
yeah i have a fix for your problem, which i suffered from too when i had a mda vario III: flash a new rom!
i am currently running duttys wm6 dualtouch v4 and it is so much better than the t-mobile rom. it has fixed so many issues that i had just taken for granted a permanent problems. Trust me it is like buying a newer better phone, but for free!

Really? Sounds good. Let me see where I can get this from and see the issues. Are there any issue with duttys though? (he says being the old sceptic).
And most importantly what's the battery life like? I got rid of "HTC Home" which chomped battery power like crazy, even using just GSM and not HSDPA.
There were no big issues for me. One thing I did have a problem with was I didn't hard reset the device after flashing the new ROM. This caused a few problems. Once I had done this they went away. The device is alot quicker. One issue I have found is that I can't change the cube icons. A little gripe but no other problems with this ROM otherwise.
Hi bennyb0y,
I had the same problem on this machine. I eventually tracked down my problem to the BBC 24 custom template I was using with Spb Traveler for weather - it was using most of the cpu time! Solution - use another template.
Regards,
Paul
I had the same problem with my vario III and the best thing I've done to date with it was to update to Sleuths ROM. It's damn fast, not buggy, doesn't crash, has all the features you could want and the best thing is, it was so simple to do. Just read the wiki to unlock etc, then follow Sleuths easy instructions. The ROM is called someting like "so many ROMS so little time" V3.0 (or somthing like that).
It does what it says on the tin.

Hello Again!

Well some of you may know (well remember) me, from the wizard, hermes and exec forums, well i got an iPhone and abandoned WinMo BIG MISTAKE
and now i am back with a Kaiser (MDA Vario branded) with the official o2 rom flashed.
i am currently however having a couple of teething problems...
1) The keyboard sometimes seems like the keys are stuck, however sometimes they work perfectly :s
2) My MMS (o2 uk) doesn't work, even after fiddling with settings etc!
Any help on these two issues would be appreciated
Thank you

Welcome Back
Keyboard Lag Issue & Try running the network setup wizard again, the stock settings should be fine. If that doesn't work, I dunno Maybe take it into an o2 store ?
I don't really want to take it to an o2 store because...
if you switch from an iphone to another phone they change your tariff (changing your contract - they charge)
and they tell you that you have to get a web bolt on because the normal tariff doesnt include it (the iphone tariff does - again it charges)
so my current £45 iphone tariff goes to £55 due to stupid charges etc.
i'll try my best to fix it myself with the aid of these threads
and thank you for the keyboard fix

Searching Tool to cook WM5 ROM

Hi,
I have a XDA mini S (G4). Every time I flash the Phone with a WM6 ROM there are Problems with the Radio (It takes much longer to connect to the Network and the reception is not so good), the Bluetooth doesn't work correctly, everything runs slower and sometimes the OS just crashes. There is only one good thing about WM6: it looks much prettier. Now i want to flash the original O2 WM5 back, but at first I want to remove the JUNK O2 added to the OS. Now I'm searching for a program to modify WM5 ROMs, but I need some advice, I don't want to ruin my phone.
Are you in the UK?
Hi, I assume that you are in the UK since you mention O2 and mini s. Also, what WM6 rom are u using? I have just put XM6r5.1 on my uk mini s (both G3 and G4) and upgraded the radio to the T-Mobile 2.19.11 UK This works (so far) perfectly. (On contract and pay&go). May I suggest that you have another try before you give up and return to WM5. I am a noob, so this may be wrong, but I think the O2 stuff you mention is in the extended rom and unlocking this is not possible on a G4. There might be some way to prevent the OS from using it but for that answer you need an expert! Best regards
