Tytn II vs p4350 - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hello I'm planning to buy one of these devices and but since I will use the multimedia functions a lot, I'm in real doubt. As seen in youtube videos and reading here, the tytn II has some problems with multimedia. But it has a 400Mhz processor. The tytn II is also a lot more expensive. Is the p4350 better in multimedia (viewing video's, playing games etc) than the tytn II or is the tytn II with the driver issue still better?
Great forum btw!

........ verbatim ......... enough said

I've got both devices and I wouldn't call either a multimedia device (unless the videos are encoded for the Pocket PC), but reason the Tytn II is more epensive is due, to it's faster (but not by a great deal). But both struggle to play YouTube on it's higher quality videos using core player 1.2.1, but I would say the p4350 is not watchable at all on high settings.
In regards to the Tytn II, this may change when HTC release their magic fix, but I dont think things will change all that much, as HTC are not going to put a large speed injection into an old unit when they want people to buy new devices with all the trimmings and expense.

Blue Angle with HBH-DS970 Bluetooth Headset (A2DP) + other questions

Hi all,
Im considering getting a Blueangle, the processor speed is 400MHz so im gussing its pretty fast? I currently have a Prophet and the specs of the phone look very similar.
Anyways I mainly use my Prophet for music and have a HBH-DS970. How well does the Blue Angle handle A2DP? Has anyone manage to get this headset working with this device?
Im not too worried about WM5 or WM6, which ever runs the fastest with a2dp.
Also can this device be overclocked? Does it give any RAM problems?
Thanks
Processor i fast enough to handle virtually all tasks - never needed to overclock (and yes, it's possible to reach 500MHz, and even 600MHz on some BAs). As it's possible to run WM5/WM6, if you take into account it has 128MB of RAM, this seems to be really nice device. But... Here we come to Bluetooth. A2DP and AVRCP work fine, but you have to remember about range, that is... VERY (and I really mean VEEEERY) limited in BA. In most cases if you have BA in your backpack, you can forget about listening to music. I used HP, creative and Plantronics Plusar A2DP headsets and all work fine, apart from the range. You cannot expect more than 1m of effective range in free air. If you keep your BA in a belt pouch (especially if you have a coat on you), expect a lot of cutting and broken connections.
This is the only device I know with such problems with range.
thanks for the info!
From a spec point of view this device seems excellent but the BT issues would be a major deal breaker for me
Ok my friend has brought his BA into work and its looks fantastic!
Im REALLY tempted to get one of these, at present my Prophet is really annoying me in terms of volume. The speak is just too low.
The keyboard on the BA seems really nice and the screen is fantastic!
Im going to upgrade his to WM6 and test the bluetooth range. If the device can be placed in a case on my belt and bluetooth stereo works then im really considering getting one of these. Has anyone tested this?
Just noticed it doesnt have a mini usb port on the bottom. Not sure how i feel about this at the mo

The bluetooth is one of the weaknesses of the Angel. It's known to have range problems. Search the forums for examples of this to get a feel for it's limits.

Just wondering, why is this an issue? The hermes has a non-standard mini-usb port as well, same as the Angel.
ok ive got my friends BA working with a WM6 rom and noticed wifi issues and some stability issues
We are going to try WM5 roms but just wanted to know what the general opionion was on the stability of the device also how people felt about these wifi issues.
Stability for me would be the main priority over battery life (which people have been saying isnt too great)
Still not sure whether i should get one

Can you give an example? I've found WM6 to be very stable on mine.

...and I found WM5 to not be as stable as WM6.
Which wifi 'issues' are you referring to? Aside from the lack of range (a known issue with the angel hardware), I've not had any issues with mine.

about the range, i must say YEEEEES! if i wear a thick coat, put BA in inside pocket, then i have to connect the headset EVERY FIVE MINITES OR MORE FREQUENTLY!

ALMOST the Perfect Phone

If the Diamond has a slideout keyboard like the 6800/Titan and a 3.5mm audio jack, it would DEFINITELY be an iPhone killer...too bad though.
I saw a video demo of a guy using the on-screen keyboard of the Diamond and he was typing like one letter a second, lol...so slow! And you hear him say "it's not bad, i like this"...guess he never used a 6800 keyboard. I can type an entire paragraph in 10 seconds, correctly punctuated, lol.
Darn...the diamond really had potential, then I found out no keyboard, no real audio jack. If the 6800 had an audio jack, I would never upgrade. I mean 8gb cards are now, like what...$20? lol. So the 4gb internal storage of the Diamond isnt that impressive

You are in luck!
Check out Raphael and Vario, the big brothers of Diamond.
Raphael answers your prayers and the Vario goes two steps higher!
Details are as below

that pdadb picture for the raphael is so old its unbelievable... the specs for the diamond are different from when it had a pic just like that.

I agree that the lack of an audio jack is very annoying, but HTC don't seem to like it. However, I don't think a keyboard would make the Touch Diamond compete better with the iPhone, because the whole point of the iPhone is a lack of keyboard. That's why the iPhone, and the Touch, are more popular than similar devices with keyboards...
The Raphael has same specs as Diamond, but it has a sliding keyboard, a bigger battery and a SD slot (no internal 4GB).
The Vario adds to this:
Double the ROM from 256mb to 512mb
and RAM from 196mb to 256mb
KOR!
And they're bigger. One of the main points of the Touch Diamond is its (lack of) size.

G-Sensor in Kaiser?

Hey Guys,
is the Kaiser / Tytn 2 equipped with a G-Sensor?
Does somebody know where to buy a cheap one?
Best Regards,
Mäffjus
Nope. No G-Sensor for the Kaiser.
Do you know which phones are equipped with one?
Every phone after the kaiser.

What do you say?

My dad have Touch HD.
I play to buy a mobile phone too, and i don't know which one to choose. what do you say?
NOKIA 5800 - symbian
Htc diamond - WM
Samsung I900 omnia - WM
IPHONE 3G
Thanks
symbian os is crap i wouldnt waste my time with it
the omnia is a big brick and still manages to have a lower screen resolution than the diamond and the iphone is gr8 if ur under 18 and all u wanna do is listen to music n play games anything else and ur screwed :lol so id suggest the diamond or if you have a bit more money to spend try the xperia

Hey, why symbian is a crap?
I had p900 sony ericsson before a long time
Why the omnia is a big trick?
About the iphone, i will have 18 in like 20 days lol.
I will mostly use the cellular i will buy as a regular phone, wifi for skype calls (via fring), and gps (IGO).
I can get second hand diamond for 300$
If i had alot of money i would buy the HD; from what i know he's the best, more then the new Omnia hd of samsung, and more then diamond 2
Bump!
mancsoulja ?
Seriously I have owned and used both Symbian and WinMo in the last 6 months. Lets just say Im never going back to symbian.
And get the HTC diamond.
Better screen
GREAT XDA support!
TouchFLO which is amazing.
Yeah, i think to go diamond because of few things:
Better pixels resoulation from what iv'e heared
Stylus
TouchFLO (my dad got HD)
Omnia over diamond: alot of memory vs 4GB.
More here
Iv'e saw right now a video in youtube that say diamond have not regular miniusb, a miniusb of HTC.
Why does i care? because i want to connect a convertor of 3.5mm jack headphone so i will be able to connect my regular earphones.
*I want to know how much time i will be able to make a skype call (fring-wifi) on the diamond.
*As for playing music, diamond cant replace the COWON D2 i plan to buy.
The diamond isnt the greatest at media. But then the 5800 doesnt have dedicated media keys either (as I am aware).
But seriously you wont regret getting the diamond at all. You can get a 3.5mm jack you just have to get the right one. It should even set you back £5/6.

Where can i find it for 5/6 with shipping to Israel?
The miniusb isn't normal miniusb? is it miniusb of htc?
If no, i guess i can buy any convertor from miniusb to 3.5mm
I don't like the omnia so i'm not gonna buy it.
It's or that im i will go the diamond, or that i will save some money and buy diamond2/HD (also hard decision)
Anyone can answer the question on the convertor?
If it's not normal miniusb, i can't buy any miniusb convertor to 3.5mm
If it's normal, i will have 2 options:
1. Buy the htc diamond + COWON D2.
2. Buy the HD/DIAMOND2 and use their music player.

The Diamond has a special mini-usb port. It can be used as a normal mini-usb port with a normal usb cable. But it can be used also with a special mini-usb to 3.5mm audio port.
Is it allowed to post a link to a shop that ships to Israel?
Hey.
So why they write it's miniusb? its special miniusb.
"It can be used as a normal mini-usb port with a normal usb cable" - so what's the special connection here?
According to you, i must get a special mini-usb to 3.5mm audio port?
I would be glad to get a link to a cheap converter...
If i add more 250$ i can get the HD. I don't know if to buy the diamond. the HD, or the diamond2.

Sorry for the late reaction.
This cable you need. It's a mini-usb to 3.5mm headphones jack. With this cable you can use you're own headphones with all HTC devices.

[Q] Adding a bigger screen to Tytn II?

I have a Tytn II lying around gathering dust because there is simply no marekt value in it for trading. SO I have had a bit of a silly idea and wonder if it would work.
I have been interested in the idea of a Car PC for quite a while with a 7 inch touchscreen in the dash. Costs can get up there a bit once you have bought the screen, the pc itself etc. So I was wondering how easy it would be to use the TyTn II innards as the basis for a Car PC and somehow connect a 7 inch touchscreen to the Tytn II motherboard.
To me it would be a great solution for running satnav in car, and media.
What are your thoughts, do you think it would even be possible?
Cheers.
Yes, possible at least the video is, without wrecking your titan too, There's a cable you can buy that lets you send video from the titan to any screen with RCA Yellow input. I beleive it's available for PSP also. 'Mini-USB -> RCA Yellow AND white' They are on ebay.
From there you may somehow be able to port the touchscreen to the Tytns miniusb port but im not sure (as it willb e occupied by the video out). Perhaps you could splice both into one then code it to work somehow. Interesting project - good luck
