Tilt won't turn on - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

My Tilt (running the HTC ROM circa October-ish) won't turn on. It gets to the "smart mobility" screen and the R, G, D numbers pop up, but that's it. won't go past that.
tried with and without the SD and SIM cards and it changed nothing. doesn't matter if it's plugged in or not.
when i go into diagnostics mode, it stops when the screen displays "serial."
i've had the phone for 6 months without any real problems before now and this just kind of came out of no where.
any ideas before i go take a ride to AT&T tomorrow? also, do they have the ability to read my contacts (possibly other data too) if they need to replace the phone?

Actually I have been having this same problem with a Vario III, its just started after 4 months of use, no problems at all, I switched batteries today to see if this makes any difference, it seems to as it came on ok, my problem seemed to be that when the battery power got to around 57-59% then it would switch off... would be difficult to switch back on... if the old battery (1600mAh) was at 100% it worked fine, if it was below 55% it also seemed to work fine... wierd...

Screen get's messed up with Helmi BA WM2k5 AKU2.6 during charging

Hi,
I have a Qtek9090 which I upgraded yesterday to Helmi BA WM2k5 AKU2.6 Beta (v.1.1.2 Beta).
Everything went fine and I do like it (apart from the usual problems with WiFi, BT,...).
However I got into a shock-state when I turned it on this morning after leaving it in the craddle during the night for charging:
It would turn on, but the screen was completly f..ked up!!!
I did a Softreset -> screen still messed up
I did a Hardreset -> screen still messed up
I did reflash the upgrade -> screen still messed up
I took out the battery for half an hour and put it back -> still the same
After many resets and so on, suddenly I got the color stripes again and the phone booted normaly. I did not even loose any data.
Next I put it to charge again and after a while (the screen went off meanwhile), I turned it on and guess: scrambled screen again.
This time, I did the Reset this way: battery-notch off, kept the Softreset pressed and simultaneously put the battery-notch on again.
Is this a known problem (shouldn't be - I searched the forum!)?
Why does this happen?
Any ideas???
Also, I have these questions:
- What is this selection one has to do after the upgrade for (2. and 3. item YES)? What should the first item be: YES or NO? Can this be the cause for my problem?
- Would it be wise to downgrade again? (In case this is a defect -> so I can try to claim warranty, if things get worse...)
- What is the patch for energy management for? Where can I download it, as the link in the Wiki does not work? (Has this to do with my problem?)
Thanks,
vma
The problem remains.
It does not seem to depend on the charging, but happens when the device is turned off for some time.
When I turn it on it will either work fine, or funtion with a wild flickering screen.
Arrggghhhh!!!
Am I the only one with this problem?
Cheers,
vma
Hi,
Some month have passed on this issue. The reason I did not post about it, was because I had to send my BA for repair and one never knows if the "enemy" is listening... Now the warranty has expired anyway and mey BA is fully working.
It may have been a coincidence, but one day after the upgrade the screen went mad and totally messed up. Only 1 Hardreset in about 100 tries would bring it back to normal for some period of time and even reflashing it with WM5 or 2003SE would not make it work normal again.
The screen would get messed up suddenly for no particular reason, normally during a standby.
At the end I had to send it in for repair, which was actually a good thing, as I complained about the loose stylo and bad working hardkeys, all within warranty.
I got a new key-pcb, backside and they reflashed the device with 2003SE.
I am almost sure that I must have done something wrong with the upgrade to WM5.
Strangely I was able to flash 2003SE onto it, though it did still not work properly: hours with messed screen and sometimes out of the blue I would turn it on and the screen was OK again for a few hours.
Could it be a bad cable connection, which got repaired as well? Was it just a software problem?
One of the things I was in doubt with: when you enter this menu to format the device, the instructions say to switch two options, but the menu on my device had three options. Sorry - I do not exactly recall the details.
Anyone with an idea, why my device went mad?
As a side-note: while WM5 was great, while it worked during the one day it worked. I specially liked to be able to turn the device completly off or being able to remove the battery without loosing data.
However: not having my beloved BA fo two weeks made me reconsider doing experiments on it. Since I have it back I did not reconsider flashing it again.
But I would like to understand what had happend...
Cheers,
vma
May I assume from the lack of replies, that this was a pure coincidence on my device?
Nobody else experimented this weird problems after upgrading to WM5?
I am considering upgrading my phone again, essentially because I am tired of being afraid of discharging the battery and thus losing all data...
Cheers,
vma

AT&T Tilt just shuts off?

I have a tilt and for some reason the last couple of days it will just turn its self off. It has done it twice while I was in the middle of a call. Any know what could be causing this. ATT stock ROM... Second one already exchanged one with same problem, No Software installed....
Me too! I have the same issue. I tried to reset Tilt (from Setting options) and it did not solve the problem. I am seeking ways to solve this issue before I have to call ATT.
Please Help!!!
this started happening to me about 1 month ago, it's progressively gotten worse (phone turns off after 2min call even with full battery). At first I thought maybe the phone was overheating because immediately turning the phone back on after it shut-off during a call the phone would get half way through booting and then turn off again.
Luckily my phone is under warranty for another couple weeks (cutting it pretty close!) I called att and they think it's a battery problem. they sent me a new one... I just got it today. Going to do some heavy use and see if I can get it to turn off.
keep ya posted.
charged the new battery completely and then ran it all the way down testing it with phone calls / internet surfing / downloads... no crash or power off. looks like the battery was the problem.

Phone takes really long to find network after reset

So, I turned off my phone last night, and turned it back on this morning to no service. I did a soft reset to see if my phone was just being difficult, and it still could not find service. I put it on my pocket and walked around with it, and picked up a signal after 10 or so minutes. This is particularly odd, because my phone was in a spot (when I had just turned it on) where it would usually have very good reception. Now, whenever I soft reset it, it takes a really long time (and a lot of battery) to find a signal! I figure it COULD be AT&T's network being really shady today, but I haven't heard any other reports and my friend's phones are all acting fine.
What could be the problem here? I'm using the stock HTC rom, with radio 1.27.12.11 on AT&T in the US.
Me too
I have the same radio version as you, however, I am on stock Kaiser using T-Mobile. I've had this problem many times. Not every reset but most result in several minutes of no service. I've even gone into settings and forced "Find Network" but that doesn't seem to speed things up.
Anyone have a solution?
I've also noticed that texts take reallllllly long to send. This one's been sitting in my outbox for at least 15 minutes now, with 4 bars of service.
Ahhhhhh.
I'm going to flash a new radio, 1.27.14.09 once my phone's battery is charged past 50%. Hopefully this will resolve my problems!

Problem making phone calls

Hi, I've owned my tytn II for a few months and in the last couple of weeks, the phone has been acting really odd. I have tried to make a call and it gives me the dreaded "beep beep beep" and ends the call every time i try. I've noticed this though; If i turn the phone off and back on, then as soon as it gets signal (like 3 minutes after load up??), i can make a call ... Then i cant make another after that ... Then if i send a text, as soon as i receive the "sms sent" notification, I can call again, if i try immediately.
It seemed like a software issue, so selected "clear storage" from the settings menu and still get the same problem. I've tried changing from my virgin sim to my vodafone sim and get the same problem. To make maters far worse, as well as not being able to dial out, nobody can dial in; it goes straight to voicemail. I am showing average to good reception when this happens.
One thing i have noticed since the problem started is that the "G" symbol at the top of the phone is now showing "3G", but i haven't changed area and don't recall it saying 3G before. I haven't changed any settings and haven't got any new software ... Its at factory standard, 100%.
Does anyone know what I should do as I'm getting ready to brick the phone just for the sake of it. I've had the Wizard for over 2 years and I never had 2 restore it once ... this phone is REALLY bugging me. I'm honestly thinking of keeping the wizard and selling this one on ebay for say £180 or something, just to get rid of it.
Also, I've noticed the battery is draining faster recently. The phone is about 5 months old.

Did u try to turn of the 3g reception?
If no, try to turn it of in settings/personal/phone/band and in network type select GSM(or in comm manager turn the 3G off).
Mikulec, you are a god ... I guess i'm just getting angry at the phone because I haven't even started playing with it yet and its just so much more tempermental than my old wizard. It was to the point that I am still using the wizard as my main phone and the newer tytn II just sits at home all day! As it appears so far though, it definitely has worked, so thank you.

happy to help u bro, the kaiser is a good toy, u just need to play with it.
This along with the faster battery drain is the first sign of a radio hardware failure. If in a few weeks you start losing network even with 3G off, or can feel your phone gets warm even on standby then you'll already know what to do... send it for repair.
When I send it in for repair, do I need to install the normal rom/etc? Before I installed the rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416278), I had no issues whatsoever. Will they actually replace what they need to even if it is working under the stock rom?
Actually, I just checked with 3G off, and I'm still getting the same 3 beeps. Anyone know what's up?

My friend that has kaiser also and usually flash his phone once or twice a week and had it repaired alot and they have never said anything about his ROM
but then we live in Sweden and maybe we have other rules then you have
It's better to restore original ROM and SPL (there's a guide in the Wiki for that) before sending it back. Once you've done that you can check if it works again - obviously if it does with the original ROM then don't send it back.

Nexus one stuck on boot screen

I dropped my nexus from about 4 feet and cracked the screen. I opened up my phone, and replaced the screen myself. Turned it back on, and everything except the wireless and bluetooth worked. I also notice that the phone has been extremely buggy, constant freezes. I used it like this for about 2 weeks.
Last night, i was talking on gchat, then plugged my phone in to charge and went to sleep.
I wake up this morning to find my phone wont turn on. I remove the battery, and turn it back on. Now it is stuck on the boot screen. I can get into the bootloader, but not recovery. I tried clearing the storage, still no luck.
I have tried to remove the battery for 20 minutes, removed both the sim and sd card, none of these worked.
The phone is unlocked with CM6 installed.
Under the circumstances, I think it's more likely to be a physical problem than a software one...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
That's what I'm thinking too.....I was hoping it's not, and someone knew some trick or something.
Yeah I'd say your phone is toast only thing you can do is take it apart and see if there is any thing loose inside it connectors etc

Damn.....most expensive and short lived phone I've ever had.
C'mon at&t.....get some good android phones!
