$100 if you fix it: Loss of speaker audio after BT connections - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi all, I have had this bug in varying flavours with both the Wizard and now the Kaiser.
If I make a call via Bluetooth (certain devices only e.g. JVC in car stereo), after the call, all audio is lost on the device when using the speaker, e.g. no ringtones, no TomTom voice guidance. (Oddly the touchtone sounds on the phone dialler continue to work.)
Making another call via Bluetooth works fine and all audio is heard, but not if calling via the earpiece of the phone - all phone audio is still muted. A reboot is required. (Even after a reboot, sometimes all audio is muted, and 2 or 3 reboots are required.)
It is like Bluetooth is 'stealing' the audio from the phone's speaker (which is should), but not giving it back at the end, however turning off Bluetooth doesn't return it.
It happens with WM6.x on the TyTN II.
If you can fix it either via a workaround (reboot the audio service after every call?) or a direct fix (HTC are useless and have not emailed me back), I will pledge you $100 via PayPal. I am sure others will join me in pledging an amount also.

Yes. I've seen the same thing with the last stock Tilt ROM, too.

Same here. But is not happening very often.
The other issue for me is if I have A2DP enable and listening to music, then making a phone call will drop the A2DP connection and I have to reconnect A2DP again. It happens to both my JVC car unit and Sony HBH DS220.
I tried that w/ Dutty's WM6.0 and the latest 6.1 rom

I have the same issue, with bluetooth disconnects.

Just staying on-topic here (you can solve A2DP issues with A2DPToggle a great free app), has anyone found a solution to this Bluetooth loss of speaker audio issue, or a workaround to avoid it happening?
Rebooting the phone after every Bluetooth phone call is hardly what I consider a high-end smartphone to require.

Same here
What Radio's are you guys running? (Ignore my signature for the moment, been phoneless and away from here for a while and just getting back up to date )
Haz

My current radio is 1.64.08.21.
I have also tried 1.64.06.04.
Could we be closer to finding the problem? Does the Radio contain the Bluetooth stack?
Here are all available Radios:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Radio
I'm going to try 1.58.26.20 now. I suggest others try the other 1.5x variants and report back if any of them solve the bug.

Update: I am now offering $100 to anyone who can fix this - see 1st thread.
I have used Windows Mobile since the first ever SPV phone. This one issue is making me look seriously at abandoning that loyalty and getting a Blackberry. If I can fix this for $100 I could be tempted to stay however.

Have you tried BT Audio Toggle ? (found at http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/sams...luetooth-headset.html?perpage=20&pagenumber=1)
Maybe if this helps with your problem then a mortscript could be written to automatically run the utility after a phone call.

What bluetooth headset do you have? Have you tried other headsets or just the one you have? What version of 6.1 are you using?

Thanks, I'll give the audio toggle a go. Might need some help with Mortscript though
I am using the JVC KD-BT1 car stereo with Bluetooth in-car kit. However I can also lose audio on a clean boot even when not in the car, although that is very rare. When using it with the car stereo, it happens after almost every call.
I am running Sleuth's WM6.1 but the other people in this thread are using a variety of BT devices, ROMs, and HTC models.

Can anyone help with how to create a MortScript to run BTAudioOff.exe after each phone call?

Flash a NIKI radio. I had a similar issue with my JVC in-dash CD player and I just got all the radios and tried them all. All the NIKI radios seem to work a lot of the time, while some work and others don't.

Okay I tried this and before I even got in the car, chose to turn Bluetooth Audio off using the toggle. Since then I cannot recreate the issue! I am not having to toggle after every call, I only did it once and the problem won't come back!
Fingers crossed...

NP. 1 more thing. What do you mean all audio is lost? Do you mean that the auido goes through the bt device? Or just that there is no audio coming from either at all. If that's the case, then all you might have to do is go to Comm Manager>Settings>Bluetooth>JVC (or whatever you named it) and uncheck the Stereo sound and viola it should work unless you are not using A2DP >.> . I think it's either directing all sound to your bt device or trying to send sound to it but failing.

The issue is there is no audio coming from either the phone or the Bluetooth device. I hear the Bluetooth device disconnect, and its display shows that it has also.
I see no 'Stereo' option to untick for the JVC in its Bluetooth settings, only Hands-free and Wireless Stereo (already unticked).

No progress
Okay, this is seriously getting me down now It all sounded so promising. I have tried the following:
Flashed Niki Radio 1.58.21.23
Tried using Bluetooth Toggle - it seemed to work once when I turned BT off before connecting, but after a reboot the problem is back
Tried a HFP extension PM'd to me (thanks anyway - didn't help)
Made sure Bluetooth Stereo is unticked in the JVC's settings on the phone
I am not sure if the problem is worse when taking a call as TomTom is running.
Here is an interesting development which might help someone narrow down the cause:
I make a few calls, and as always audio is lost, even for phone calls sometimes.
Touchtones on the keypad are the only sound that the phone continues to emit itself. Everything else (TomTom, ringtones, etc.) is dead.
I then go into the JVC's A2DP mode and 'Connect'. The icon appears on the mobile's title bar, and I can hear phone audio through the car stereo.
I 'Disconnect' and the phone's audio is still lost.
What this tells us is that the phone is putting out sound, just not through the speaker.
If someone can write something that will reset the speaker driver after a call, my offer for $100 still stands.

Just to update this, the issue still exists with a clean install of HTC's new 2-May-08 WM6.1 ROM from their website. To***rs!

CJSnet,
Since we got the similar setup w/ exact the same issue (Att Tilt w/ JVC BT-1), I think the problem is basically Kaiser does not switch back to A2DP profile properly after headset profile from phone call. The same issue happens to my Sony HBH DS-220 stereo headset too.
I tried my Eten M600 w/ JVC BT-1 and does not see this problem

Any better Bluetooth stacks out there

I use my Diamond as an MP3 player way more than a phone. I also use a Sony Ericsson Bluetooth Headset HBH-DS970 all the time. But very often I'll be listening when boom! The sound stops for some unknown reason. Many times it's a brief second or two and it starts again. Other times I reach into my pocket and hit the power button and poof, it starts again. Annoyed I put it back in my pocket.
Then sometimes it doesn't come back to life. Of course, I'm driving at the time and have to fiddle with the phone and drive, which is very dangerous.
Very often the bluetooth just drops. I have to go in, hit the power button, slide to unlock, Start: Settings: Connections: Bluetooth: Mode and I see the Turn on Bluetooth and Make this device visible to other devices toggled off even though I can see the little Bluetooth icon in the title bar is still on! I toggle on these and hit OK. Often I need to power off and back on my HBH-DS970 to re-establish the Bluetooth connection. Now the HTC Touch Diamond does not play a sound when the bluetooth establishes itself like my old PPC-6700 so I just guess and hit play on the HBH-DS970. Sometimes the I have the Wireless stereo portion working but the AVRCP is not working so play on the HBH-DS970 doesn't work and I have to hit play on the HTC Touch Diamond (Sprint Music). Later I'll find that Wireless stereo is working but Hands Free is disabled.
So why does this happen? Why does the Bluetooth drop at all? Is there any better Bluetooth stacks that have less bugs that I can install. I recall tell about something like a Widecom Bluetooth stack or whatever. Is that any better?
Recently I purchased a Motorola Rokr unit which is a unit for your car that receives a Bluetooth signal and rebroadcasts it to FM for your car stereo. It works great but the having to transfer Bluetooth pairing from my headset to the Rokr when I get in the car never goes smoothly. I have to remember to pause the program, stop the Bluetooth going to the headset, turn on the Rokr, it attempts to connect to the phone and it cannot if the phone is talking to the headset via Bluetooth. Why's that an issue? Why can't the Bluetooth talk to more than one device at the same time?!? I mean what if I want the Bluetooth music or program to go to two headsets simultaneously or to the headset and the Rokr? Shouldn't that be my choice.
Next I need to tell the Rokr to transmit on FM and establish that connection. Then I try to hit the pause/play button on the Rokr and often again, the Wireless is paired up to the Rokr but the Hands Free isn't. Get out the phone, power button, slide to unlock, Start: Settings: etc. etc. - what a pain.
Then I'll be driving and listening and life is good when suddenly again, the connection drops. The Rokr cutely has a female voice that comes on through the radio saying "Connection dropped". Yeah I know - and I'm not impressed!
Repeat procedure in reverse when leaving the car transferring the Bluetooth signal from the Rokr -> HBH-DS970.
LIFE SHOULD NOT BE THIS DIFFICULT!!!
So I ask:
. Is there a better, more reliable Bluetooth stack I can install?
. If not, are there some registry settings that I can tweak to make Bluetooth more reliable? I have used the Advanced Configuration tool and saw some settings about Bluetooth sound quality but I don't know if upping th quality had lessoned the reliability...
. What are some of the reasons that a Bluetooth connection will drop? I mean it's not like I've walked outside of its broadcast range - hell I'm still in the car!
. Finally, is there anything I can do to lesson the amount of short micro drops of 1/2 - 1 second? It's a little annoying when you're grooving to a tune and that happens.
Thanks.
Try this for some answers http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432072
OT, can you record sound via BT headset's microphone? Not being able to do that annoys me much and still haven't got any answers from anybody.
I use the Bluetooth with phone calls. With Vito's Audio Notes I can record phone calls and hear both me and the caller in the recording - through the Bluetooth. I see Vito also has a "finger friendly" recorder but I'm not interested in that. However it seems clear the audio path from Bluetooth mic to recording can work.
Thanks for the pointer to that thread however the concern there is about Bluetooth quality not Bluetooth reliabiliy. Personally my Bluetooth quality is just fine - when the Bluetooth remains connected that is! I'm puzzled why you would have read my post and thought I wanted better Bluetooth quality?
I have been streaming audio since i got my HTC Wizard - 2 phones ago..
Back then, i was running WM5 and it had notoriously bad BT stack (really bad quality of A2DP audio). No tweak could eliminate the horrible high-pitched noise.
Fed up with the terrible sound, i tried the Widcomm stack.
This dramatically improved audio quality, but the Widcomm stack had other problems; i was not able to use any of my other BT devices. (back then i had a seperate GPS device and a Jabra wireless earpiece).
Eventually i managed to have both BT stacks installed, so i could choose which stack to start, depending on what i was going to use.
However, this was still far from perfect, because i wanted to be able to use my earpiece, use Tom Tom and listen to music at the same time (in my car).
The solution came (for me) with WM6, it had a really improved BT stack, the A2DP audio sounded much better.
For other applications the Microsoft stack worked well from the beginning.
When i just started using WM6 it did need some (registry) tweaking to overcome the problem of the "skipping" that sometimes occurred (those skips were not due to disconnection problems, it was just a matter of figuring out the highest bitrate the device could handle! (=>higher bitrate = better sound, more bandwidth, higher chance of music "skipping", =>lower bitrate = more stabile connection (less "skips", at the price of lowering the audio quality)).
Since my last phone (HTC touch) i did not even need to apply that tweak anymore, standard settings worked fine for me (acceptible audio quality, no 'skipping' problem).
Today i have a HTC Diamond, and i use a MBR-100 to stream audio to, i hook this device up to my car stereo (in fact, i have two, so i never run out of battery power).
I use my Jabra earpiece simultaneously.
I have no complaints whatsoever.
So to answer some of your questions, based on my own findings :
- The WM6 BT stack is capable of handling multiple connections at the same time (in my case, A2DP, remote GPS and Jabra earpiece)
- I never had a disconnect from my MBR-100 (which is also from sony Ericsson) without reason.
- I recently discovered,i can activate A2DP just by pressing the button on the MBR-100. Before, i always activated the connection by going to => settings=> Bluetooth etc. Maybe you have a button that does that on your headset? If so, it will at least save you the trouble setting up the connection again on your Diamond...
Finally, i don't know which ROM you are using, but the one i'm running now is the one from the official HTC website, "_HTC Touch Diamond_QMR_RUU_Diamond_HTC_NLD_1.93.404.1_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe".
One more thing :
- It is not possible to stream A2DP to more than one device at the time.
However, i found a nice little program to switch the A2DP stream between paired BT devices in reach.
It can also toggle the sound (and mic) from a phone call between my earpiece and the internal speaker.
Maybe it is useful for you as well : LINK
Copy .exe to the phone and execute there (when you have a A2DP connection running).

After toggling the sound by means of the program i mentioned in my previous post (This one) it definately records sound trough the earpiece (it's a Jabra BT350).
Thoroughly tested, 100% sure.

Would you happen to recall what those registry tweaks were? Based on your above comments I think the best I can do is to lower the bit rates and bandwidth. Honestly most of my listening is talk radio and much less music. Even so, I'm older and I can't tell as much about the lose of highs, etc...
I have toned down things in Advanced Configuration Tools - Bluetooth section hoping that this increases reliability.
What I don't understand is why is this apparently so hard to get right? I mean this is not rocket science here! It's merely a connection that is radio based? Can't people code the software correctly! Geeze!

The Rokr has essentially 4 buttons. Power, FM selector, Call pickup and Pause/Play. There are also some combinations. The FM Selector is simply a button to push where the Rokr scans the stations and tells you which station to set your FM radio to. Power is for power, naturally. The Call pickup and Pause/Play are as their names suggest. Pause/Play pauses or plays the media player on the other end of the Bluetooth (through AVRCP) and Call pickup picks up an incoming call. Both of these buttons attempt to talk to the remote Bluetooth device if the connection is not currently established. However since most of the time the problem is that the Bluetooth dropped it's connection (necessitating having to go throught Start: Settings: Bluetooth: Mode: Turn Bluetooth on). Also, turning off the power and turning it back on causes it to try to pair up again, which sometimes work. However, if you currently have it broadcasting to your FM radio and your radio turned up, powering it off kills that connection causing loud static to come out of your radio until you power it back up and re-establish the FM broadcast portion.
I can see if I can screen capture my HTC Touch Diamond with the Bluetooth off in the Bluetooth settings but the Bluetooth indicator actually on in the title bar. Weird state! You should never be in that state with one part saying Bluetooth is on and the other saying Bluetooth is not on!

Do you know of a Widcomm stack for the HTC Touch Diamond? How about a copy of the MS Bluetooth stack? I did turn down the bandwidth/bitrates and hopefully that'll make it more reliable. However it would be nice to have those Bluetooth stacks available to install and play with.

I had seen this program before. Perhaps you can explain how it's supposed to work. Because whenever I run it it does nothing.
I have two HBH-DS970's. I pair them both up to the phone. I can play music but only through one of them. When I run the Bluetooth toggle thing it first plays in the current HBH-DS970 but pretty much out of phase (sounds tinny). If I run the BT Toggle again it briefly (for 1/2 a second) plays on the speaker phone then plays in the same HBH-DS970 but in phase (full bass). The toggle toggles between these two in phase/out of phase sounds with a brief blast on the speaker phone but only in one of the HBH-DS970.
If I power off the HBH-DS970 and establish Bluetooth connections with the other HBH-DS970 and I do the BT Toggle thing again the same thing happens with the second HBH-DS970. It does not transfer the BT from one HBH-DS970 to the other! I suspect it wouldn't transfer the BT from an HBH-DS970 to the Rokr either.
I don't get it! What's this BT Toggle for?

You're correct. They are the same tweaks that are now provided in the advanced configuration tool. Back then, when i just had my Wizard i did not have this tool and i had to go into the registry to change the settings manually (they can be found under \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings).
The most important one is BitPool, i use 58 for the quality of the audio, but since you mentioned you use it to talk radio and not so much listening to music you can set it to 30. You should not experience any buffering skips then.
Then you have MaxSupportedBitPool, which you can delete. I played with changing the settings here but no major effect.
Finally, there is UseJointStereo, to have stereo set it to 1. In the older WM6 BT stacks when set to 0, it would reduce the hissing noise but the audio would be mono.

My MBR-100 uses A2DP, my earpiece HFP. That's why i'm able to use both at the same time. However, you can't use A2DP 2x simultaniously. I was just pointing out that the BT stack of WM6 is capable of using different profiles simultaniously. If your Rokr and your Sony headset use different profiles, you could have used the small BT toggle program to switch easily..
But even if they use different profiles, you can't use the audio output twice at the same time. You can only toggle to wich profile it redirects.

The only thing i can think of, is when the two are too far apart from each other. I did not have any strange disconnects so i don't have the same experience.
You mentioned you are still running the original ROM, and if you have the time it is not a bad idea to upgrade it. I know that in the beginning of WM6 A2DP did not work as well as it does today (i had to tweak then, now it works well with default settings). Also because you mentioned your BT behaves irratically.
The process of upgrading is relatively easy and you will gain a performance boost as well.

The BT toggle app does nothing more than redirect the audio to the next available (connected) device. I use it switch to earpiece, when i answered the phone with the buttons on the Diamond (when i answer calls with the button on the earpiece, it does that automatically).
When listening to music, i can switch the audio between the earpiece and the car stereo.
So i figured, maybe you could use it in the same way, when you walk to the car enjoy the music trough your headset, and when you are in your car, click whatever button it is on your Rokr that activates the connection and simply click the icon to change the audio from your headset to the Rokr.
edit :
After reading your story about your Rokr again, i begin to believe there is something wrong with the BT portion in your Diamond (connection dropping, having different icons say different things about BT state). Your Rokr wants to make the connection by pressing the button, and that is how easy it should be.
That's how it works for me. I would recommend upgrading to the latest ROM, i downloaded it from the official HTC website.
I mentioned the exact filename with version number a few posts ago.
That way, you will be sure that software (BT stack) is o.k., i can confirm that in my case it does what it is supposed to...

But my point is that the HBH-DS970 can do both. IOW while listening to music (or talk radio), if a call comes in then you simply hit the little call switch on the mic and the music stops and you answer the phone. Talk on the call and listen in both ears then hit the little call switch on the mic and wham you're back to your music or program material. It's really quite cool! When it works that is! Or, if you weren't listening to music and a call comes in simply put the earbuds in (they conveniently fall along the necklace of the HBH-DS970) and talk. IOW, given this, what would I need or want a mono earpiece that just answers calls when this will do both?
My MBR-100 uses A2DP, my earpiece HFP. That's why i'm able to use both at the same time. However, you can't use A2DP 2x simultaniously. That may be what the BT Toggle does and it may be that you cannot use two A2DP stereo outputs at the same time. What I'm asking is "Why not? Why this seemingly artificial limitation? Is is security concern? Did nobody think anybody might want to do this? Is it a hardware limitation? Is it a Bluetooth 2.x limitation?". It just seems silly to me to put a limitation like this for seemingly no particular reason. Ya know some people might want to actually share their music in like real time!

I've done some ROM updates back with the old PPC-6700. Yes there were better but they also weren't supported. I'm with (crappy) Sprint but I think all carriers shy away from you burning in a new ROM on them. They only support you not touching anything like that. In fact, IIRC the original Sprint ROM for the PPC-6700 didn't even support stereo Bluetooth at all! It was only after installing the Widcomm stack that I was able to get stereo BT working!
And that's part of the scary part for me. Originally, the first BT stack I installed worked fairly well with MS Voice Command actually working and when a call came in while I was listening to music, it would properly pause the music, answer the phone then return to the music. But that lasted only a short time. For most of my 2 years with that phone the BT would not stop the music to answer the phone.
The current Sprint derived HTC Touch Diamond ROM works WRT the BT behaving properly for stuff like that. The only real problem I'm having is with the dropping of the connection. So if I go to a new ROM and that breaks... well I don't want that happening. Perhaps if you could point me to the original Sprint ROM so I can get back to where I'm currently at I would venture into newer ROMs.
But another thing that would make me go for the new ROMs is if I could get rid of the god awful Sprint Music Player (SMP or actually the HTC Audio Manager and its Today plugin)! This thing sucks! I usually use Pocket Player however the god damned SMP steals the AVRCP controls such that Pocket Player cannot get them. So I can't use Pocket Player and then have the Play/Pause button on my HBH-DS970 play or pause the SMP! You end up having two audio streams playing at the same time and the pause button does not pause Pocket Player! If there's a ROM out there that removes the silly SMP then I'm all ears!
Since i had my Diamond i never had problems with BT so i didn't search for that. I did save some of the stacks i experimented with when i had my Wizard, but i dont know if they will work on te Diamond... If you can't find anything on this forum, let me know and i will post the cab's for you.
But again, i don't know if they will work on te Diamond!v

Oh and let me say MusicMaster, you've been very helpful so far. Thanks.

I don't think this will work this way for me. From what I could see the Rokr will not pick up the BT from the HBH-DS970 until and unless I power off the HBH-DS970. Just like my second HBH-DS970 could not get the BT passed to it until the first HBH-DS970 was powered off. But I'll go and check this out...

I think that perhaps your situation is different. You mentioned that your "MBR-100 uses A2DP, my earpiece HFP". Yet AFAICT my HBH-DS970 uses A2DP and the Rokr also uses A2DP. Both are attempting to receive stereo music.

I meant, e.g. if your headset used HFP and your Rokr A2DP, they could be connected at the same time. Now i read in your post they both use A2DP so the whole toggling trough different profiles solution is off the table..

Click to collapse
I don't know the reason behind that (share music in real time would be awesome, though) but i can think of one technical limitation, and that is bandwith.
If you set the bitrate too high you wil experience skips. When i discovered the highest possible setting without skipping, i even had to set it a bit lower because i use my earpiece simultaniously. The music played without skips, but as soon as i would turn the earpiece on it would start skipping.
It is also impossible to stream audio and transfer data via PAN. Both the connections are o.k. but te A2DP stream would stop until the data is transferred.
So i assume there would not be enough bandwith to stream audio to multiple devices..

Heh, i use Pocket Player as well Unfortunately i don't use AVRCP but i think that is a software issue. I've read somewhere else on this forum users having the same complaint. Did not see a solution there..
Question : is this sprint player integrated in TF3D? There is a tweak tool out there to remove tabs. I removed the music player tab.
The other solution would be to go for the updated ROM from HTC. I understand your worries concerning support after flashing but i have flashed every phone i had and had never any problems.. My (flashed) Wizard broke down once, and T-Mobile (my carrier then) repaired it without any cost..
I must say i don't know how Sprint handles these things (i live in Europe).
A good thing is it's a ROM upgrade from the official HTC website so i don't think you have to change SPL (which from what i heard, is the warranty-voiding process). But anyway the sprint player is NOT included..

You can always perform a hard reset, the MS BT stack will be intact.. (maybe use Sprite backup before you install another stack, it works really well (i don't know if you have the program, it came with my Diamond))

True, the idea of using the BT audio toggle is definately not going to work for you.
But, our situation has similarities! Like i mentioned, i use two MBR-100 devices. When one runs out of energy, i use the second one. They both use AD2P!
The process of changing the two is really simple, and i believe it should be as simple as that with your two A2DP devices.
This is how it goes wen i change the two :
- music is playing on my Diamond, sound goes to MBR100 #1.
- i power off MBR100 #1 (or it runs out of energy), A2DP connection closes, music keeps playing but now from the phone speaker.
- i power up MBR100 #2, press the button on it, it establishes A2DP connection and the music keeps playing, sound goes to MBR100 #2.
Simple as that, i don't even have to awake or touch the Diamond. Now i believe it should be possible that it is that easy for you too..

This doesn't work. The "plugin" sounds like the plugin that even Conduit already offers for older versions of Pocket Player. And the new version of Pocket Player has this already built in. The problem is it's ineffective as something in the HTC implementation is usurping the AVRCP thing. See Bluetooth in 3.7 on Conduit's forum and AVRCP not working in PocketMusic and PocketPlayer ! here in this forum.
It may be that disabling the Sprint Music Player (really HTC Audio Manager) tab and guts will solve the problem and that may be in the HTC original ROM. I don't think you gave a direct pointer but I will research this later tonight.
Pointers to how to do a hard reset on the HTC Touch Diamond such that I can get back to the original ROM from Sprint would be appreciated (I seem to recall if you burn a ROM onto the phone then a hard reset goes off of that burned ROM not the original ROM. And no I have no backup product).
This is the link to the thread where you can download the TF3D Config program to remove the music tab.
You can perform a hard reset by pressing the vol-down key and enter button simultaniously (then power up), but you can only use this to restore the current ROM you are running to its initial state.
So you are right, you can use a hard reset to restore your Diamond to factory settings now (might be useful if you just want to experiment with other BT stacks and end up with the original BT stack not working), but if you flash your phone you can't go back to its original state unless you have that factory ROM.
But, since the ROM i mentioned comes from the official HTC site, i guess when it comes to support if you ever need it, you can always put on your innocent face and say "was i not supposed to do that?"

You're in Europe aren't you? Things are different here in the States. Sprint doesn't take to kindly to you saying "was I not supposed to do that?". Their answer would be "of course you can't do that - your warantee is now void".
It's clear to me that the HTC phone and the Sprint branded phone are not one in the same. For one the back is different. Two, it's branded with the Sprint logo all over it! 3, it has the "Sprint Music Store", something I highly doubt a European HTC Touch Diamond would have. Forth, there is no radio! None, nada, caput! I downloaded the Radio cab and installed it - even hooked up the wired headset since it needs that for an antennae - nada. I also saw postings that Sprint's phone doesn't do radio. Now I could complain to Sprint saying the HTC site boasted of an FM radio to which I'm sure Sprint will merely say "Well that's HTC. We are not HTC. Our site and our advertising never said anything about an FM Radio". Additionally the time on the home page is different. Finally, tools such as TF3D Config tool just bombs out as noted above. No, to me it's clear the Sprint phone is not the same as the HTC Touch Diamond from HTC itself.
It's not like I haven't been downloading and installing things that obviously Sprint wouldn't like. I got things like a Transparent Clock, Remove [Sprint] Logo, Flip Clock and Advanced Config and TF3D Config. I even played with downloading the HTC Audio Manager and the HTC Audio Manager Today Plugin. All of these things were cab files that I could easily, and relatively safely install, try and uninstall should it not work correctly. I'd love to "install a new Bluetooth stack" if that were doable. But burning a whole new ROM and permanently severing any hope of "support" from Sprint - voiding the warantee... Well I guess I'm not exactly there yet but you're right - I'll probably have to end up doing that.
Still it would be nice if I could get the original Sprint ROM and the HTC ROM and play around with at least a little hope of being able to go back.
Oh, and BTW, aside from the "Volume Down and Enter while powering up" thing, I recall having some .exe that I ran on my PC that did the burning of the ROM to the phone. IIRC there was some other sequence to get it to receive the ROM. Ah yes I documented this on my blog:
Once you have a ROM you run the installation process. First you need to get your phone in "Bootloader" mode. This means, on my phone, that you hold down the power and voice record buttons at the same time while you perform a soft reset. Now here's the tricky part: The screen appears to be black but if you look really carefully you'll notice it says "Serial". You'll probably have to look at it in the light and move the phone from side to side. Why the secretly displayed with no backlight screen is beyond me.

What's that sequence for the HTC Touch Diamond? And do these ROMs then install to this phone in "bootloader" mode?
O.k., i didn't realize your Diamond was different from mine. I figured, if we both have the same hard and software, and it works here, it has to work for you too.. When i was with T-Mobile, i got a branded HTC Touch, but this branding was nothing else then they put their T-Mobile logo on the device, and they modified WM6 so that everything has pink icons (no wonder i flashed it whitin a week ).
But the hardware was identical to original HTC devices.
I recently moved to a less urban part of the country, where there is no T-Mobile reception so i had to switch carrier, and when i switched i got the Diamond. This new carrier was Telfort, and they didn't even brand or lock the device. The only reason i upgraded the software is because i read the performance would be better (and it is )
So i see now, your situation is really different..

One thing you can do before you decide to flash is see at HTC's website if there is an update for your device.
Before you can download the ROM, you have to fill in the serial number from your Diamond. Then you will know if they even have an update for your device.
When you fill in the serial number you will automatically get the right update. I even got the update in my own language (i'm dutch).

I'll probably end up just flashing to the HTC ROM. Hell most of my updates so far have been to get it to be more HTC-like as they did a nice job (and Sprint has screwed it up). I just need to get some extra spare time if you know how that is....

Oh, another thing, BT related. It's been frustrating but lately when I get a call I cannot answer it with the BT headset! Looking at the phone and trying Menu: Turn Hands Free On is grayed out! Quite honestly I'm no longer used to having to hold a phone up to my ear! It's damn inconvenient! Just this weekend my sister called and I was outside detailing my car a bit listening to a radio show. I go to answer the phone and it drops the BT connection! So I'm talking to her and I cannot continue my work - my car will have to wait. So I go back inside and turn on the speaker phone to listen and talk while I fiddle with the Bluetooth settings attempting to get the damn Turn Hands Free On thing to work. I turn off BT on the phone. I turn of the BT headset I have. I turn them both one - nada. I go into Settings: Bluetooth: Device and Refresh to see if the Hands Free got toggled off. Nope. I delete the device and re-add/re-pair it. Nothing. Nothing I did would get it so that I could switch to using my BT headset so I could get back to doing my car. What causes Turn Hands Free On to gray out when BT is on and the device has Hands Free toggled on? I mean shouldn't that mean that I can use Hands Free from that device? BTW, of course, a soft reset of the phone fixes the problem but by then it's too late! It's damn frustrating. And god damn it, I ask you, how hard is it to get BT working correctly?!?
Now when I get a phone call my music stops, the BT disconnects and the phone starts ringing on the speaker. I answer it and the screen goes blank and the speaker phone kicks in. Damn this is convenient! This is exactly what I want my phone to do! It anticipates my every need! NOT!!!
(Now I know somewhere there was some setting to turn off the screen when the phone picks up but I can't find it anymore. And the dropping of the BT and instead automatically going to the speaker phone - so everybody else can hear - is just unacceptable! Really, this should not be this hard! Designers of phones and their UI's - WAKE UP! Geeze!).

OK, I'm fed up. I'd say that just today alone I had to turn on Bluetooth after it turning itself off like 15 times today. Just going to the grocery store whenever I hit the pause button then attempted to resume playback, BT was lost - 3 times on the less than 1/2 mile drive back to my house! The HTC ROM and no support from Sprint can't be any worse!!!
I will need to spend some time getting the ROM and then preparing properly to take this step. Usually I'd do this on the weekend but my daughter's in town for the weekend so it might be the week after. I've heard about the HTC Original ROM but are there any better ones? Remember, BT reliability is high on my list. And if I can find a ROM that allows me to remove - completely gut - the HTC Audio Manager tab so that Pocket Player can have a chance at AVRCP then I'm all ears!!!
I promise to write a full report on my experiences, hopefully documenting the problems I currently have and the hopeful solutions the new ROM will give - or just the new set of problems which is probably more likely...
This has almost gotten me to the point of writing my own Bluetooth stack though something tells me that the reason it works so badly now is probably because the Bluetooth specification is overly complicated and not very well defined...
And thanks everyone for listening to my ranting and not coming down too hard on me. I'm frustrated and sometimes vent. Thanks for understanding...

Enable A2DP and/or headset profile for Tilt...

Hello everyone...sorry for bothering, but I'm so frustrated that I'm about to scream...I really need some help here.
I have an AT&T Tilt (Kaiser) running their standard ROM. I just bought a Motorola H780 bluetooth headset for it. The salesperson said that he knew of some people who connected this model to their Tilts and was able to listen to music through it...and even on earpiece box it says that the H780 supports both the Hands Free and Headset profiles. However, I have not been able to accomplish this: it pairs for normal use (phone calls, etc), but nothing else. The "wireless headset" option is greyed out for me; the earpiece only gives me the option to connect using "Hands Free" profile.
I have looked...and looked...and looked for how to do this. The best I found from Google was for people who have Windows Mobile 5 (I have 6)...and even so, I tried a couple of those registry tweaks. On here, I keep running into countless forums that tell you, not how to enable A2DP, but how to improve it (using modified bitpool value in the registry, etc). Can SOMEBODY PLEASE tell me how in the world to get this working? I would really appreciate it...THANKS!
Well this is how i do it. I downloaded this http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=freeware
that is the page then you get a2dp toggle
and then when my bluetooth is on the the headset is on i then go to this program and double click it and it puts another icon by the bluetooth icon and i get sound that way for my music and also calls still come threw too. I am not saying this is the right way but it works great for me...
bluetooth toggle
bluetooth toggle turns on the headset (single ear normal everyday talking sets) like a speakerphone.
all audio will get directed to it, im, e-mail, meeting announcements.
I had a sony headset model, with 12 talk time, nice because it will eat your battery while on ( tilt and headsets rated for talktime will apply to this ) . my plantronics only does 4 hours, so at lunch or when not in use I charge it and phone via usb cable.
I am in IT and most peaple are ok with me wearing bt headset (plantronics 655) and write me off on the gadget side when I wear it 24/7. In reality I listen to music (10% volume on audiomanager) all day (literally) from my 8 gig card.
I have streaming and resco radio, and podcasts. Mostly I converted my common mp3s to wma to have more on the phone and high audio cd quality is not to be expected over bluetooth. The right rom and radio are very helpful and the ability to tun off screen but still play music are all important or battery will suffer even more. using the stock rom and radio will work, just not a good balance team.
duttys roms and a few others had it included btw. I found a way to use audiomanager 1.2 on the new roms with 1 registry setting change to allow suspend mode.
I use a very simple version of it. I attached it because, I searched a bit to find a link, (still recommended for education on the subject) but didn't find it or in the chefs and mods downloads either.
Thanks to both of you for your responses! I appreciate someone taking the time out to help.
Blinkste21957, I tried your solution and it didn't work...for some reason, it saw my headset as being "unusable" (my term) with regards to headset mode. I don't quite know why; my headset clearly says on the box that it is. (Motorola H780). This is why I think that there must be something missing on my phone that will enable the "headset" option for my earpiece.
Acehole, I tried your solution a while back...but it was with the 8525, not the tilt, and with my (previous) plantronics headset. I was less-than-impressed with the problems I had to deal with last time...but I could give it a whirl again with this phone/headset and see what happens.
If anyone knows of anything else I'm missing in terms of "activating" the headset capabilities of my phone (which I thought was supposed to have A2DP), let me know. I'm just very puzzled why, for an earpiece that supports headset mode, my phone would have that option unavailable.
Actually, I think that it is the phone and not the headset. When I had a nokia I was able to listen to music via my bluetooth with no issues. The tilt will not allow you to do this without the use of a third party application. The following is what many people have used and are using as a work around. BTAudio, BlueMusic, A2DPToggle. Tech soft makes BlueMusic and the A2DPToggle and can be found here: http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=products. Unless one of the bright developers here on XDA takes this on, I fear that it will never truly be resolved.
Thanks ACEHOLE.. I was struggling with my iMate.
Someone on here recommended the Sony DR-BT22 some time ago. I bought a pair and they link up and sound is impressive on the Tilt with Windows 6.1
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8458466&st=bluetooth&type=product&id=1184369168158
I can also control forward and reverse functions of the player with them too.
Bluetooth - especially compatibility - is still one temperamental beast! My car's built-in hand-free made me and the poor guy from AT&T a believer. They can plaster A2DP, HSF, HDP, ESP, JMDP, whatever on the box and it it means squat as to whether it will work or not. Only ones that do are manufacturer-to-manufacturer....sometimes.
Mack
If you have WM 6.1, and if you have a headset with the A2DP profile (NOTE this is not the same as the "headset" profile) then you can listen to music without any problem. If you don't have both, then you need to mess with the software add-ons mentioned earlier in this thread .
As for me, I got the excellent Jabra BT8040 and it works great with My Kaiser with stock 6.1. Only about $30 too.

Put Microsoft Bluetooth Stack back into Touch Pro2?

I'm using a T-Mobile Touch Pro2 which includes the Broadcom Bluetooth stack and Microsoft Voice Command 1.6.2105. The problem is the Bluetooth software is not compatible with Voice Command and I hate it.
Voice Command is unable to announce TTS events via any bluetooth headset despite having the option for that turned on. Also, activating Voice Command via a bluetooth headset button is either very slow, or unstable (doesn't work sometimes).
Has anyone been able to create a Rhodium ROM that uses the normal Microsoft Bluetooth stack, which has been known to actually work with 3rd party programs?
I had this issue and moved to NRG's Genesis 6.5 rom. everything works fine.
I have not seen a 6.1 rom that works tho.
My TMoUS TP2 works perfect with my Motorola S9's when using the MSVC that came on the stock ROM.

Finally someone who has the same problems as I have.
There are also other annoying side effects of this Broadcom stack:
- As we all know the stereo output is nothing compared to for example an IPhone. Therefore I always used WOW SRS as a sound mixer which closed the gap at least to some degree on my Kaiser.
But now with the TP2 and its Broadcom stack as soon as WOW SRS is installed (I know about the different settings and driver versions to get it working, so this is not the cause) the BT stack is only connecting the hands free profile after this and the stereo profile is simply not working any more.
With the old MS stack this was not a problem.
So I'm back to the old crippled stereo output again
- One could imagine using the integrated HTC sound mixer/booster, but here another even more annoying thing comes into play:
The internal sound mixer (and also the FM radio by the way) are not working with BT at all!!!
Both are only working with a cabled headset and I found no way of getting the FM radio sound to the BT headset or using the sound mixer function on BT.
Together with the non working voice command thing this whole BT integration is so dilettantish that I can hardly believe HTC is selling it as a "professional smartphone".
If someone has any workaround for the above things I would highly appreciate it.
And of course if one of the chefs could implement the old MS BT stack in a cooked ROM this would also be a great thing, but I have not seen one so far.
But even if, I can only hope that some HTC people are reading these comments and that HTC is putting some more professionality into this issue and will soon get it together as a working whole and not as this amateurish implemantation it is currently

What Pioneer headunit/Pioneer bluetooth unit are you using?
I have an AVIC-D3 with the Pioneer CD-BTB200 module for bluetooth. I have zero issues making it connect with the CD-BTB200 module. I can make calls, receive calls, play bluetooth stereo, etc. The ONLY issue that I have is that when the phone rings on an incoming call, I only hear the ring through my phone's speaker, not the speakers in my SUV. This was not an issue with the M$ Bluetooth stack, however. Go figure. If I can figure out how to make the phone sounds play through my speakers (yes, I have the send notifications/sounds box checked in the advanced bluetooth properties), everything will work 100%.
I wanted to do this, for my own as well. I think the problem we're facing is... drivers. The phone has a slightly different bt/wifi/radio module, therefore required the broadcom drivers. I'll look into making it work with the MS BT stack though... although I'm not too optimistic.
The worst thing in my opinion is the described fact that the internal FM radio and the equalizer/booster can not be used with any hooked up BT device.
Therefore listening to FM radio with BT headphones is simply not possible.
By the way I think this was also an issue in older models, so I don't think that this is a newly introduced thing with the TP2 and the Broadcom stack.
Does anyone of you guys see a solution for sending the FM radio output to the BT channel?

No, because the cable of the wired headset is used as antenna. even if you manage to fool the radio application to start with the wired headset not connected you won't hear anything but noise.

I am using a JVC deck and it connects great. Sound quality is a bit better than from my Wing; my only problem is that when I disconnect from the call it takes my TP2 2-3 minutes to show that the call is actually ended, it runs slower than molases like I have 50 programs running and all trying to access the internet and downloading large files. After the 2-3 minutes the phone has returned to normal like nothing was wrong. I am thinking of flashing to one of the good looking 6.5 roms that our wonderful chefs have cooked up for us, but I cant decide which one to try first!

The point is that I want to be able to use the wireless BT headset with all the audio sources on the device. This would only be logical.
Having to use the wired headset as antenna is of course the other annoying thing in the hardware design of this device (since I think HTC should also have been able to get FM reception with a built in antenna or even the phone frame. Don't know why they have not done this in order to at least allow using the radio in situations where one has got no headset at hand, especially with the TP2, which has got no 3.5mm jack)
But apart from this issue still the only consequent thing would be to be able to use all audio sources with the attached wireless headset. That's what is it for...

Yes, this first seemed to be an option to me also, but on my TP2 if I open the btfm.exe I get absolutely no sound, no matter which speaker setting in the software. Not on the wired headphone, not on the internal speaker and also not on the BT headset, even though it is successfully attached with the stereo profile.
Have tried this with several ROMs, always the same problem: No output at all.
And on some it even won't start (error message Unable to extract skin template)
But since HTC has included this exe in the ROM but has not put a link in the start menu I think they know about this lack of functionality, but have not solved it.
Does anyone know more about btfm.exe and a way to get it working?

Check out this rom

it appears to do what you want.
Yes, and also the latest of NRGZ28's ROMs does have the BT triggered VC:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562773
Seems like realls HTC has managed to get back this functionality into the latest BT stack version, even though there seem to be some bugs still in conjunction with the current V 1.6.21040 as I wrote here:

Hi everyone, I have a similar question related to the Microsoft bluetooth stack. I have an ATT Tilt2 (stock ROM still) and have downloaded the Office 2010 beta programs from the Marketplace. A new feature (at least I think it is new) is the Presentation Companion for PowerPoint which allows you to control a PowerPoint presentation using your phone.
When I try to set up the Presentation Companion, however, it gives me a message about not being able to find any bluetooth devices. The instructions from Microsoft say that you must have the Microsoft bluetooth stack installed on the phone and the computer you want to control to get this functionality. I never get to the point of connecting to my computer so I figure it must be the phone.
Has anyone else had similar issues or tried the Presentation Companion? I tried applying the .CAB update listed earlier in this thread but it did not help.
On a side note, with the stock bluetooth stack I have had no issues connecting to my Pioneer headunit in my car for hands-free and A2DP stereo streaming. I have not tried to use the controls from my radio to control the playback, so I'n not sure if that works. The headunit I'm using is the DEH-710BT.
Thanks!

I have a Pioneer AVIC-D3 and have no issues with playback (or the controls) using the BT stack in the Rhodium. This, of course, was tested with Windows Media Player. I can do forward, reverse, pause, stop, play, etc.

Play Music via Bluetooth "fixed"

This is my first, and only a minor, contribution to the forum; I've been a feeder up till now.
I bought a cheap bluetooth headset for my HD2 for use with my motorcycle satnav and also my HD2 - not that I want to take calls whilst I'm riding, but playing music would be a possibility. It was similar to this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bluetooth-V2-...e_Phones_Bluetooth_Acc_ET?hash=item3efab16de4
I paired it with my satnav and could hear voice commands and music as expected. I then paired it with my HD2 and could only get calls, no music playing!!!
I tried looking for settings on the HD2 but nothing made any difference so I decided to look in the registry. After a while exploring I eventually found:
HKLM/software/widcomm/BTconfig/devices/
There were three devices paired (HD2, satnav and my car) so next I had to work out which one. I found that if you look at the nickname for each one, it's decoded into english by the Reg Editor (I use CERegistryEditor). Using trial and error I found that changing the setting "Hideconnections" from "0" to "1" did the trick. I can now hear music through the headset!!!
Well chuffed with myself!!!
PS Perform a soft reset after changing it to lock it in otherwise it resets to "0" after a disconnect.
OOPS! because I was looking for Bluetooth stuff I posted this in the wrong area, sorry!!! Maybe a moderator can correct please?
How bizarre it works by default for me......well done on the find though
Thanks...
It doesnt work for me, im using samsung mono bluetooth. I've tried many methods like btaudio bttoggle.... any help, thanks
All I can suggest is that - like I did - compare settings with something that does work. Maybe because you have a mono headset (mine is stereo) it's not capable of receiving music?
Hi
I could play music and receive system sound in my Jabra mono bluetooth earpiece if, in HD2, I go bluetooth->advance->Audio and check "play system sounds on remote hands-free device". However, after a phone call, the music and sound will be routed back to the phone speaker, though the earpiece is still connected (you can still make/receive phone calls through the earpiece).
The music and sound can only be routed to the earpiece again after a soft reset.
The other observation is that, if there is pause in between music or sound for a period of about 12 to 15 seconds, the HD2 will "suspend" the bluetooth transmission (beep in the earpiece) and resuming the music will cause the bluetooth transmission to be re-established (beep sound in earpiece). This is causing skipping of the first 1 to 2 second of the music / sound.
Have installed BTaudio V1.0. It is working on my HD2 and will keep the transmission constant and no skipping problem.
However, also needing soft reset after phone call.
Does any one has similar experience ? Is this earpiece/ head set related of is this HD2 related issue ?
No one has simialr experience ? Is there a thread on bluetooth related registry tweaks, I have been searching for it but don't seems to be able to find one. Any help will be appreciated.

I don't have that reg key at all! I have a dutch hd2 running stock 1.66. When I try to connect to a parrot party bluetooth stereo box this (most of the time) doesn't work. Once or twice I established a working connection but after trying multiple times with no luck I decided to find a fix for my problem. Now I try to edit my reg with this and it's not there!?
i paired the hd2 with the car kit parrot ck3100... leaving apart that it doesn't connect always... although i have checked in settings to play all phone sounds through BT it doesn't...
i think it's a BT problem of the hd2, or maybe all WM phones... 'cause ițve had issues like this before...
P.S. once it played the music thorugh the car kit... just like this...

Htc One Bluetooth issues

Hello Everyone I am here to find some answers (hopefully)...
So I got the HTC One Coming from the Iphone 5. I've had numerous Android devices before, and apple products. I just recently also purchased a subaru wrx, it has bluetooth radio. When I had my iphone 5, i synced perfectly with the radio, hands free worked Awesome. When i got into the car my spotify or pandora would immediately start playing..
Now i get my htc one, and i pair my phone with the car, but my hands free audio sounds terrible, i can barely understand what the other person is saying. On top of that i have to manually connect the phone to bluetooth everytime i turn on my car, its very annoying. I have tried many different roms, and kernels, and i even went back to stock but i can't seem what the problem is. I am about to change the radio in the car thinking its not very user friendly with android devices.
If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be awesome. I am pulling my hairs, i love the htc one, but i miss my handsfree bluetooth functionality. I have tried searching the forums, but i haven't found any answers that worked.
I am having the same issue with having to manually confirm the Bluetooth connection in my car. Mines on a Toyota 86 with the GPS in dash, I believe it's made by eclipse who supply Subaru?

I have to manually connect each time to my bluetooth nakamichi speaker.
I too am having same issues. I also have a 2011 WRX with original radio. With my prior phone (GS2) I connected without problem and automatically every time I started the car. I have to manually connect the HTC one every time. Many others seem to not have this problem with other vehicles, so I'm starting to think it's the Subaru radio not playing nice with the phone. Please post if you find a solution.

I installed an app called Bluetooth file transfer that fixed the issue somehow.

I had similar problems in my car with an alpine radio, but with my galaxy s3.
In fact the thing is that when you register a phone on your radio (in my case) the radio just looks for the first one defined and registered to autoconnect.
Now, if in your radio you clear registered devices list, and try to register your htc, i am pretty convinced that it will autoconnect all the time.
Hope it helps,
Regards,
Nicolas.
My HTCone synched immediately with the OEM bluetooth in my 2011 Kia Forte. No problema, in fact, it is a much better connection (clarity) than with the old EVO 4g, which initially required a bit of fiddling to make work. Hands free phone call system on the KIA works very well too. FWIW.

Thanks for that. I sorted out how to BTconnect my HTCone<--> Macbook, but could only do so, one file at a time. The app you mentioned works great (!) and allows me to push multiple files at ne time. Reviews say it is also a great file manager, that I have yet to determine but if so, an added bonus.
I am also having a problem with the HTC One bluetooth in my car. The phone connects to the car’s bluetooth system, pairs properly, although very slow, it uploads the phone book and call history. The problem is the call quality. The people I am calling complain about the sound, they feel the volume is too high and this distorts the sound, as well as there is too much noise added to the voice, or something like that. As soon as I switch to the phone speaker the sound that they hear gets better. This makes me think the bluetooth on this phone sucks. One person suggested the interaction between the noise canceling and main microphone is mixed up, but if I am using my car's sound system it should not use the phone's microphones anyway, or maybe it does? I guess what I am trying to say is that when I am using the car's stereo it should use only the car's microphones and speakers , but sound like the phone noise canceling microphone is still active.
If anybody has ideas for fixes, or suggestion for further tests, I will do it.
P.S. I didn't have any problems with my car's bluetooth with my iPhone 4 or Nexus 4.
Same for me. Sometimes the problem disappears. I assume the problem comes from the BTstack. In fact, the one is the only Android phone I know that use a different BT stack than blueZ. This stack is HTC one. It allows us having avrcp 1.3 (The name of the song displayed on our car audio). I hope the HTC one Google edition use blueZ stack. I will try a Rom based ion that. If the problem disappears, it will confirm the problem come from HTC stack.

I am having the same issue...I had the Motorola Atrix 4g and it paired immediately with my Pioneer deck. That phone always reconnected and like you mentioned, pulled up Pandora etc. Now I have the HTC One, and it paired and connected but it refuses to play audio. Handsfree works (kinda sloppily, also like you mentioned), but the Media Audio portion doesn't work even though the phone reports that it is connected. My stereo says no device detected when I switch to BT Audio. I hope you find a resolution to this issue, I have searched everywhere and of course I saved the best for last and decided to finally check here @ XDA.
I posted earlier in the thread that I was having difficulties pairing my One with my Subaru WRX factory radio. I could not get it to automatically connect with the phone each time I started the car. I could manually get it to connect but that was a pain every time I got in the car. I was able to solve my issue by deleting every other pairing the radio had with other prior phones. I deleted any pairing my One had previously and then paired it with the car radio before any other device. It now connects regularly every time I start the car, and both audio and phone functions work perfectly. I would recommend anyone having blue-tooth issues to try the same. The Subaru radio also had a weird menu system that was different whether I was pairing the phone by using voice commands or trying to do it with physical buttons on the radio. Very confusing but going through the hands free voice command menu seemed to pair both audio and phone functions, where I could only pair audio functions when using the physical buttons on the radio. Seemed like two different systems.
Been having crappy noise issues with my 09 Acura TSX. I emailed HTC regarding this problem but, of course, their response was to 'check with the car manufacturer'. Will try that method and see how it goes.
My problem is a bit different. My htc One connects flawlessly with my JVC unit that too automatically. But it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. And that is a major issue. The phone also gets insanely hot in this process and today the OS crashed two times and i had to do a Hard Reset.
I am coming from an iPhone 5 on which bluetooth streaming was flawless.
Anyway to stop the auto-disconnect and re-connect going on.
My Bluetooth is mess up.
It can pair up, but the Address Book is not showing up on the car screen menu now. I don't know what happened. When I play music on my phone to the Bluetooth in the car, it is silence.
Does anyone know what is going on?
HTC One Bluetooth Problem in BMW
I am having the same problem.
My HTC One connects, I can make calls from the phone and the calls are clear, but I cannot see my contacts.
I have emailed HTC and they say it is the car (BMW 5 series). I have checked with BMW and there isn't an update for my car available. I am therefore, using the latest software. I previously used the HTC sensation which worked fine in the same car.
I am wondering if one could install an older version of the Bluetooth and A2DP software as the those on the HTC One do not work in my car and I cannot see BMW developing any updates and if they did, the cost could be as much as the phone.
Would appreciate any help

I can now see my contacts after more than a month!
I did many things, some of which I do not believe had anything to do with the process required. So I will stick with the main points and if this does not work I will include all that I can remember.
I unpaired all phones in the car (including the HTC One)
Pair the HTC One
Look out for the message BMW wants......................... contacts
Select yes
Wait for the contacts to load, this took a couple of minutes at least.

Been trying to find out for the longest time the definite set of codecs that the One supports over bluetooth. Besides SBC and AptX, does it also support MP3 and AAC??
The reason I'm asking is that I'm coming from a (company supplied) iphone and have been generally very happy with the bluetooth audio quality to my car's audio system (Audi) and Bose Soundlink Mini speaker. I know for sure the iphone supports AAC and due to the quality suspect it is used in both cases.
The Bose at least does *not* support AptX, however getting a definite codec list for the Bose is also impossible. I only managed to find buried in the offfical bluetooth certification pages that it is a BT2.1 device.
Why do all these manufacturer's hide this documentation?
Very disappointed to find out that the Bose Soundlink Mini negotiates a link with the HTC One using SBC...
These are both premium devices for which top dollars are paid, and they still shovel this **** on me.
I'm not sure on where to place the blame here, HTC for only(???) supporting AptX next to SBC, or Bose for only supporting SBC(???)
As mentioned, both are not transparent in their devices capabilities - isn't there an app to find out these things?
Beats is at least more clear: "Bluetooth 2.1 audio and supports SBC, aptX, AAC Codecs for high quality streaming"
