storage card not installed on Tilt - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi,
I bought a Tilt phone in the US and when I started to use it in the Netherlands (in Europe) I noticed all storage cards (tested 3) of SanDisk and 1 of Kingston do not work.
Making hard resets, changing the format and altering the registry regarding the wait and unload delay in HKLM\System\StoreManager do not help.
Because AT&T and Motion Wireless (which unlocked it for me) insured me I can get support directly from HTC if I should need it I do not want to change the ROM with unofficial updates (yet). Maybe I try to reload the latest official ROM hoping that works....
Hopefully somebody can help me before a ask for support from HTC directly?
Greetings, Ruben

Were you able to use microSD cards prior to taking the phone overseas? Also, please give specifics regarding which cards you have tried (ie manufacturer, capacity, etc).

I unfortunately didn't test any cards before taking the phone home, so I don't know. I tried 2 2GB and 1 GB cards of SanDisk and 1 1GB card of Kingston. I don't know any other information about the cards.

It seems you may have a hardware issue then. If you don't have the option to return it to AT&T, then you should contact HTC to find out you repair options with them.

SD card help needed

Hi thanks for reading my post,
I bought a 6gb microSD, slapped it in the phone and nothing. The phone doesn't recognize that there is a card in the slot. Tried AT&T technical support forum. She sent me to HTC support. Couldn't find anything there either.
I've tried the card in a friend's phone and it recognized it and asked to format it. Does anyone have a clue if there is something wrong with the phone? I would think that it should at least recognize there is a card in the slot even if it can't read it.
Anyone???
What brand of SD card did you buy? I have a Tilt and am using the Sandisk 6GB card and works like a charm. I didn't have to format it or anything.
One thing to try is go to an AT&T store and ask to see another phone. Put the card in and see what happens. If it works, have them replace the phone.
Mine too is a Sandisk. Sounds like there is something wrong with my phone. I'll take it back (still within 30 days).
Thanks.
Have you tried putting a different card in your phone? At least that way you could see if your card slot works!
You could also try formatting your 6Gb card using a PC, this sometimes helps.
Good luck.
I also have a 6gb microsdhc sandisk with my htc and it worked with no problem......

[Q] Some idea - is it possible to backup and simulate a sim card?

I was trying to find a good rate for a flatrate AND telephone costs - but somehow either on or the other sucks for me. I heard of phones which have dual sim, but the Galaxy has only one slot, so an idea came up:
Would it be somehow possible to backup a sim card and simulate it much like cdrom drives etc can be simulated on a pc? Possibly not I guess since it is read by hardware and all that stuff is hardwired, but I don't really know about this much so I wanted to ask you guys who know alot about the internals of the phones.
Its just a crazy idea ... it would probably not be "allowed" either but I'm just interested =)
the galaxy s has a setting that i noticed before it says ''dual sim - no'' was in txt document somewhere in system. what you propose would be a major security issue i certainly wouldnt want anyone else to get my cloned sim so such apps should never be made. you can buy a dual sim adapter they even support 3g and are pretty cheap you can take look at few here browse to second item.
http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/dualsim/dualsimcovers.htm
Even if it could be done, it would certainly be illegal. The developer who made this possible will face lawsuits from all the major (and perhaps the smaller one as well) carriers.
This would be great feature/software and not only for illegal things. For example - I have a phone, which has something broken in SIM card reader - it gives me "No Sim card in Phone" whatever SIM I use... So with such software I could make an image of my valid SIM card on another phone and would be able to use it with "half-broken" phone
Unfortunately, this is not possible at the moment and my phone is almost useless

GT-N7000 and specific SIM cards not reading

Well, here I go again with not only another smartphone but I finally got my hands on the GT-N7000 International model with the physical home button. So I get it home, check it out, everything appears to be working fine:
- battery is brand new, just manufactured in January 2014, not a fake one (I checked that out with Samsung directly based on the battery serial number)
- was originally on Android 2.3.6 and upgraded to 4.1.2 through Kies without issues
- no hardware problems noted, everything works great, no damage to the phone at all
Here's where it gets a bit confusing. This is the International version which means it should be unlocked without me having to do anything to or with it, so - when the phone was on 2.3.6 - I took one of my newer T-Mobile microSIM cards and using the adapter to make it a proper miniSIM I slid it into the SIM slot, put the battery back in the phone and turned it on, and nothing gets detected at all.
I pull the battery, find another microSIM, do it again, still the same result. In fact, every microSIM I have (4 T-Mobile, 1 AT&T, all within a year old but none of them are currently activated - whenever I use the T-Mobile SIMs it will still connect to T-Mobile and allow me to pull up the billing web page; the AT&T SIMs never do that and just complain about the SIM not being provisioned).
Since my intention is to use the $30/monthly plan with T-Mobile that I've had in the recent past, I went looking into my little canister of older full size miniSIM cards and found two of them that I used with T-Mobile over the past few years. As most devices use microSIMs and even nanoSIMs nowadays, I figured I better keep them around just in case.
SO... I put one of them in and voila, I get a connection - or so I thought. When inserted, and again when using 2.3.6 I was able to get into the service menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and it would show the number assigned to that SIM originally, etc but it wouldn't show the network. Tried the second SIM card, it gets recognized, same thing - it just doesn't show T-Mobile.
Now, I've never had an International Galaxy Note so I'm kinda confuzzled here so the primary question is this:
Is the GT-N7000 simply incompatible with some SIM cards, even when they're in an adapter so they fit into the SIM slot proper? I know this isn't an LTE capable phone, that's not a concern at all - I suppose I'm not 100% sure that it's even compatible with T-Mobile given the bands but since T-Mobile works nicely here in Las Vegas (at least for me) and they're using more bands nowadays, I'm very interested in attempting to figure this out.
I went ahead and performed the Kies upgrade to 4.1.2 and it's working great so far, but again the same issue: the phone can't or won't see or access anything but these two older T-Mobile miniSIM cards - not anything else that I happen to have which includes two brand new T-Mobile microSIMs I ordered a few weeks back.
Could it be that perhaps the leaf-spring contacts inside the SIM slot are just not making contact on some of the other SIM cards that I'm trying to get recognized, or could this be something with the phone itself due to it being the International variant, or maybe it just not supporting the bands that T-Mobile happens to be using nowadays...?
Any help or info is greatly appreciated as I'd really love to get this thing up and running. If it means I have to get yet another SIM card from T-Mobile to get it working then that's what I'll have to do I suppose.
Thanks for any input...
ps
Just for the record I popped the back housing (not the battery cover, I mean the back housing held down by screws) off just now to get a look at the SIM card slot itself, it appears to have a 3-2 configuration (meaning the 3 visible leaf-spring connectors and the other two are not visible unless you remove that back housing). Maybe a lead snapped off, perhaps? Seems like there should be 6 leaf-spring leads...
pss
And after looking at parts on eBay it does seem like there should be 6, I guess one of them snapped off at some point with the previous owner and probably the reason they were selling it. Odd...

My G6 Shows 'Corrupt SD Card' Error but Fails to Format it

My G6 says that my SD card is corrupted, so when I go to format it the percentage completed immediately shows 20% then, after about 10 seconds, the formatting screen closes before it completes the format, and the whole time it shows that it's formatting it is always at 20%. Then my G6 acts as though there isn't an SD card in the phone, it only shows up again after I power cycle the phone. I have tested multiple MicroSD cards on this G6 and the same thing happens for every single one I tested, but I happen to have (limited) access to my mom's G6 and when I tested the same cards on her phone it says the SD card is corrupted, but successfully formats it and mounts it.
The MicroSD card that I would like to use with my phone is a 200gb SanDisk card.
Thanks in advance.
Update 7/2/2018
Hey, Can it be read/formatted in a computer with your sd adapter like a flash drive? if it can try reformatting it there then see if your device can recognize it. if it can't or it says corrupt / needs to be formatted and craps out... it's your SD card. it is the same one I had (probably..with red lettering on it?) That's the bad news, the good news is you can still go online and register it with SanDisk and they will send you a new one for free (cost of shipping to them the corrupt one, you have to pay.) But they will send a replacement, I think it took about 2 weeks to get one back.
Take care.

I can plug it into a computer and format it successfully, it works in literally every other device that I've tested it in, including my mom's G6. That's why I have a feeling that the problem is being caused by some sort of issue with my G6. I have tried factory resetting my G6 two times already and it failed to fix the issue. I want to root my phone, but my software version is H87211h, and the method mentioned here has (as far as I know) only been tested on devices running H87211g.
Hello there. I have same problem with my LG G6, It shows every SD Card as corrupt and tap to fix. when i try to fix and format it get stuck on 20% its been more then two months and i am unable to use the memory card on it..
There is nothing wrong with Memory cards , it is the problem with the LG G6 either it is software issue or may be due to the fact that i have changed the Sim Tray as my sim tray was broken... The Network sim card work fine only problem is the Sd Card.... If any one have the sim issue or any solution .. Please share.. Thanks

Same thing happened to me, my SIM Tray broke and I bought a replacement from Amazon and that's when the issue appeared.
I updated my G6 to Oreo and now it shows what command is causing the formatting app to crash. I've attached a screenshot.
OK, so with the new info (sd tray breaking) I think what happens is when the SD tray is breaking, it's getting caught up on the little pins inside that contact the SD card and bending them a bit, and then that pin or pins are screwed up so it can't read the SD, and because it detects that there is one in there, begins to format and go thru the sectors when it gets to the messed up pin it craps out because it's not reading anything so it's saying the card is corrupt at that point. You have to send it into LG for a warranty repair. I had to do this too. go on the website, register your device, tell them the SD tray broke inside and it won't read the SD card or the SIM, and you will get a repair number within 24 hrs or so. Send in the device and you will get it back about a week turnaround time.
Good luck.
Most every time I've had this issue has been after an update or switching ROMs or kernel update and usually the issue is the kernel.
So basically speaking if you have an SD card corruption after any of these particular events reflash your kernel first.
I just bought a new Samsung 256GB microSD. I copied everything from my old card onto my PC, then onto my new card, and then put the new card in my phone. Android says it's corrupt and needs formatted. I try to format it and it always gives an error saying the command failed. Put the card back in my PC (which now can't use the card either) and performed a format (without the Fast option). Android still says it's corrupt and always fails to format it. So I put my old card back in the phone, and now it says it's corrupt too...
I had noticed that when I first opened the tray door it was being janky and wouldn't come out but a half inch. After reading this and getting the error for my old card too I decided to take the tray all the way out. Wasn't easy getting it out and now it's broken. Or already was broken. I tried cutting off the broken part and put the tray back, but now it won't even see a card or my SIM. So I've ordered a new tray. Hopefully that will solve everything... Unless my pins are jacked up as suggested earlier....
Well, got a new sim tray, and now it can read the SIM fine, but every SD card still says corrupt, and it fails to format it each time.
Out of warranty -- I bet the repairs cost half what I paid for the phone (like $200, crazy sale, two years ago). Sigh.
Any other thoughts on this?
The same problem with my lg g6 dual , did you have solution ?
Thanks to everyone pointing out that broken tray that damages the pin's issue. Seems that exactly what happened to the phone I gave my mom. Little to no chance here in South Africa that we could get it repaired for any reasonable price. At least this thread stopped me hunting around for a solution to the "keeps-formatting" but not working issue. Bit of a waste that I bought a new memory card, but not the end of the world. Wasting a few hours on a lost cause is much worst.
So glad I found this...
Unfortunately I already bought a new tray to replace the broken one, but now at least I know not to spend hours and hours on an issue I couldn't possible fix myself...

Bold N1. I cannot access the SD card.

I moved my SD card from my Samsung S7 Edge to my new Bold N1 and got a fix SD card error, so it took me to the format screen and it got up to 20% formatted and the the phone rebooted. I retryed several times, but no luck. Since it is a 200 gb card I thought it might need a 128gb card so I got one and it didn't format or recognize it either. I put the new 128gb card and into my S7 Edge and was able to format it. I have not been successful in contacting Blu (who I bought the phone from). Has anyone had this problem, or have a suggestion? Thanks very much for any info. They have a short warranty period. George
Any update on the problem?

Hello, I've been having the same exact issue that you had, the phone getting to 20% formatted and rebooting, though I only used a 128gb card as that's the max size they have listed. As it's been a while, I was hoping to see if you had any update on the issue. -Ahten

I haven't ran into that issue yet. . .
I currently have two Bold-N1, that I purchased the same day that this cellphone were launched, and never have had any issue when using it with 64GB and 128GB SDcards (Sandisk a Samsung).
